The original Sentai Crossover

The crossover between J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai and Himitsu Sentai Gorenger.

Tropes

  • Canon Welding: This movie shows that not only does Goranger exist in the same world as JAKQ, but so do Kamen Rider V3, Kamen Rider Amazonnote  and Kikaidernote .
  • Combination Attack: Goranger Hurricane Big Bomber is the result of the Gorangers' Goranger Hurricane ball being combined with the missile from J.A.K.Q.'s Big Bomber cannon.
  • Crossover: This was 19 years before the Super Sentai Versus Series was officially started with Ohranger vs. Kakuranger. It also confirms other Ishinomori-created heroes to be in the sentai universe, even longer before Kamen Rider Decade has the Shinkengers drop by and Gokaiger meets Space Sheriff Gavan. However, don't get too excited: it's no longer than a regular episode, the non-sentai heroes are limited to still photos, and the only Goranger who returns in full is Peggy; the rest are Fake Shemps who only turn up for the final battle; not even being played by the same actor as Banba gets Akira a scene.
  • Doppelgänger Crossover: Downplayed, though this team-up has two characters played by Hiroshi Miyauchi, he only appears in the flesh as Sokichi Banba (Big One), while Akira Shinmei (Aoranger) is The Faceless. The mention of Kamen Rider V3 (Shiro Kazami) also establishes that there are three Miyauchi characters in the same world, then Let's Go Kamen Riders (2011) links to a fourth, Kaiketsu Zubat.
  • Expy: General Sahara's design is heavily inspired on Ambassador Hell.
  • The Faceless: As Peggy Matsuyama (Momoranger) is the only Goranger seen out of her suit, the other Gorangers are this.
  • Finishing Move: Goranger Hurricane Big Bomber is used to take down the Big Four Robo.
  • Fusion Dissonance: The Crime Big Four (Baron Iron Mask, General Sahara, Captain UFO, and Hell Boxer) merge to form the Big Four Robo. No, it isn't a Humongous Mecha; this is before those existed in Super Sentai.
  • In the Name of the Moon: Both teams give their roll call before the final battle, however, unlike later Vs. movies, they are not done successively. In this case, the current team (J.A.K.Q.) goes first, followed by the previous team (Goranger).
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: As the J.A.K.Q. team learn from Kujirai, the Gorangers had been fighting General Sahara's Sahara Battalion in Africa's Sahara Desert, Kamen Rider V3 fought Baron Iron Mask in Europe and Kikaider fought Hell Boxer in Mongolia while Kamen Rider Amazon continued his fight against the Ten-Faced Demon in the Amazon rainforest.
  • Shared Universe: An early attempt at placing multiple Toei Tokusatsu franchises in a common world, this film depicts one in which the first two Sentai, the seven Kamen Riders, and the Kikaider Brothers co-exist. Later crossovers would fluctuate between Rider and Sentai sharing a world and existing in seperate universes in The Multiverse.
  • Versus Title: Unlike later crossovers, there is no conflict between the two Sentai whatsoever.
