"Some marry for love, others are idiots."

A 2014 Mexican romantic-comedy film starring Martha Higareda, Miriam Higareda, Michel Brown, and Luis Gerardo Mendez.

  • The Cameo: Jesus Navarro from the band Reik, who sang on the soundtrack, appears briefly as a Latin Idol judge at Dani’s audition.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Dani has been in love with Gustavo since she was seven years old. He initially is infatuated with her sister Ana Paola but later realizes it’s always been Dani.

  • Drowning My Sorrows: Ana Paola does this after finding out that her fiancé is cheating on her with her cousin.
  • Heartbreak and Ice Cream: Ana Paola eats from a carton of ice cream after discovering that her fiancé has been cheating on her with her cousin.
  • I Want Grandkids: Don Gustavo’s main wish is for a grandson to carry on the family name, Mendes (spelled with an s!).
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted, with two Gustavos and one Gustava in the same family.
  • Playing Sick: Gustavo Senior pretends to be terminally ill in an attempt to speed up his son’s presumed wedding.
  • Romantic Fake–Real Turn Dani and Gustavo pretend to date to keep his sisters from teasing him, but the romance soon becomes real for both (Dani had already been in love with him for years).
  • Sleepyhead: Gustava has narcolepsy, which causes her to fall asleep at various points in the movie (while eating breakfast, playing baseball, performing a drum solo).
