Dr. Minx is a 1975 sexploitation film starring Edy Williams, Randy Boone, Harvey Jason, and William Smith.

Dr. Minx is the tale of Dr. Carol Evans who, while getting rid of her blackmailing boyfriend, encounters two "kids" injured in a bike accident. The more injured of the two, Brian, falls for his angel of mercy, while the other, David, becomes comically unhinged by his attraction to the doctor.

Tropes:

  • Bathtub Bonding: Carol and Brian take a bath together after burying Gus's body while they plan their next move. It gradually segues into a Two-Person Pool Party.
  • Blackmail: After murdering her husband, Gus demands a share of the insurance payout by threatening to release tapes which make it sound as if she helped him plan the murder.
  • Casanova Wannabe: David fancies himself as a ladies man, but his technique is so over-the-top macho and off-putting that Carol all but throws him out of her house. And when Carol falls for his Nice Guy best friend Brian, David decides that she must be sick in the head as that is the only way he can rationalise a woman preferring Brian over him.
  • Destroy the Evidence: When the sheriff comes round to ask questions about Gus's disappearance, Carol goes to stall him while telling Brian to burn the incriminating tape in the upstairs fireplace.
  • Disposing of a Body: Carol and Brian initially bury Gus's body behind Carol's house. However, when they learn that David saw them bury it, they dig it up again and dump it in the basement of an abandoned cabin deep in the mountains.
  • Groin Attack: While attempting to escape from Gus with the tape, Carol kicks him in the crotch.
  • Hospital Hottie: Edy Williams is Dr. Carol Evans, a hospital doctor who has affairs with many of her patients, and seems to spend all her time at home lounging around in peignoirs with a Navel-Deep Neckline.
  • I Just Shot Marvin in the Face: David shoots his best friend Brian while attempting to scare a confession out of him with a loaded pistol.
  • It Was Here, I Swear!: After learning that David have discovered where they buried Gus's body, Carol and Brian did it up and move it. The next night David returns with the sheriff to show him the body, only to make a fool of himself by digging a huge hole and discovering nothing.
  • Make It Look Like an Accident: Carol's boyfriend Gus murdered her husband by releasing the brakes on a bulldozer so it ran him down: making it look like a workplace accident and doubling her insurance payout.
  • Mrs. Robinson: Dr. Carol Evans is the seductive older woman that college students Brian and David both fall for. David goes crazy with jealousy when she rejects him and seduces Brian.note
  • Punk in the Trunk: After killing Gus, Carol and Brian place his body in the trunk of Carol's car and take it to Carol's house to bury it. After David finds the body, they dig it up again and dump it back in the trunk to haul it up to the mountain to dump it in the abandoned cabin.
  • Reckless Gun Usage: David attempts to scare a confession out his friend Brian by pointing a loaded pistol at him. The gun goes and hits Brian.
  • Recorded Spliced Conversation: Gus splices together secret recordings he made of his and Carol's sex sessions to make it sound like she conspired with him to murder her husband, then uses this tape to blackmail her.
  • Two-Person Pool Party: Carol and Brian have sex in the bath after burying Gus's body.
  • Sleeps with Everyone but You: David is convinced that Carol is a slut and shows up on her doorstep expecting her to have sex with him. She dismisses him, but shortly after starts an affair with his friend. Unable to accept that a woman would choose Brian over him, David convinces himself that Carol is a murderer and spends the rest of the film trying to prove it.
  • Whole Costume Reference: When David becomes obsessed with proving that Carol and Brian murdered Gus, he starts dressing like Columbo; with a trenchcoat, tie and and carrying a cigar that he never smokes. Nobody else comments on this.
  • Worst Aid: After finding Brian unconscious on the side of the road with an obvious head injury, Carol—who is a doctor— gets David to help her roughly carry him and put him in the back of her car: completely disregarding any possibility of spinal injury.
