Elvis Presley's 24th feature film, Double Trouble is a 1967 musical romantic comedy directed by Norman Taurog.

Guy Lambert (Presley) is a singer dating naive heiress Jill Conway (Annette Day). Upon discovering she is underage, he breaks up with her and leaves for Belgium on a tour. Coincidentally, Jill's uncle Gerald Waverly (John Williams) also sends her there, so Jill takes the opportunity to try to win back Guy. However, they find themselves targeted by several mysterious assassins and thieves. Guy also has the additional romantic interest of the worldly Claire Dunham (Yvonne Romain).

Tropes:

  • Betty and Veronica: Guy's attention is divided between sweet and naive Jill and sultry and sophisticated Claire. Then the end reveals Claire is in on the attempts to murder Jill.
  • Chase Scene: After Guy escapes the police station and steals one of their cars to go save Jill, the cops give chase in two separate cars, leading to a long, comical chase scene.
  • Evil Uncle: Jill learns from an assassin that he's acting on behalf of her uncle Gerald, because he wants her inheritance to himself.
  • Inheritance Murder: Gerald is trying to have his niece Jill murdered for her inheritance.
  • Jailbait Taboo: Guy is shocked to discover Jill, whom he's been seeing, is still a schoolgirl and promptly breaks up with her. Jill nonetheless chases him all the way to Belgium and doggedly tries to seduce him. She also states her intent to marry him as soon as she turns 18, which is only 4 days away.
  • Not in Front of the Parrot!: Captain Roach and his mate plot to sink their ship; unfortunately for them, the mate's parrot keeps repeating their plans (though this amounts to nothing as nobody takes the parrot seriously).
  • Police Are Useless: None of the cop characters are very helpful, with three clumsy, identically-dressed detectives standing out for their incompetence. It's Guy who does all the work of protecting Jill and figuring out that Gerald and Claire are in cahoots on his own.
  • Serenade Your Lover: Guy visits Jill in her apartment for a romantic evening and, at her request, sings "Could I Fall in Love" to her.
  • Stupid Crooks: Babcock and Brown are a pair of thieves trying to steal Guy's suitcase (revealed to be because they put jewels in it in a smuggling attempt), but they are comically inept at it.
  • Super Window Jump: Guy crashes through the police station's window to go save Jill.
