Decasia was a 2002 film by Bill Morrison, which consists primarily of decaying film footage edited together with a musical score by Michael Gordon. As the film does not contain a real narrative, it comes pretty close to being The Tropeless Tale.
As such, the film still has tropes:
- Bookends: The film begins and ends with footage of a dervish.
- One-Word Title
- Stylistic Suck: It's a montage of old, unrestored film footage which has decayed so much that in some cases it's impossible to tell what was filmed - and that's the point. The score also includes intentionally de-tuned pianos and an out-of-phase orchestra to add to the effect.
- Word Purée Title: Apparently means "the state of decay", which is occasionally shown as the film's subtitle.
