Cape No. 7 (Chinese title: 海角七號) is a 2008 Taiwanese romantic musical drama film by Wei Te-sheng, released in 2008. The story is around Aga, a singer leaves Taipei to return to his hometown of Hengchun. One day, a hotel in Hengchun needs a local musical band to warm up, so they invite Aga into the group. In the process, Aga fells in love with Tomoko, a young Japanese model who organise them. In addition, there's another Tomoko names Kojima Tomoko, who was left behind by her lover.

Cape No. 7 provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: Aga and young Tomoko. Even others cannot believe that they love each others.
  • Broken Tears: Young Tomoko cries so hard after her drunk because everything doesn't go well.
"Why did you do these to me? Why did you do these to me? I'm a girl...away from home..."
Tomoko when crying in Aga's chest.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: A housekeeper who understands Japanese seems like she's just Dada's mother, later reveals that she's old Tomoko's granddaughter.
  • Foreshadowing: Old Mao sings Heidenröslein in Japanese in beginning. In the end, when Aga sings Heidenröslein as his encore, the Japanese singer sings Heidenröslein with him.
  • Foreign-Language Tirade: As a Japanese who lives in Taiwan whose career isn't well, young Tomoko usually yelling both Chinese and Japanese.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: Subverted for Aga as postman, who doesn't sent mails well at the beginning, he even peeps some of it. Later however, Aga works so hard, and sends many mails, even the hardest one which address is written in old era format.
  • Please, Don't Leave Me: After young Tomoko states that she will leave Taiwan to Aga, Aga gives her a hug, and says that he wants her to stay or take with him.
  • Ragtag Band of Misfits: How can a singer, who failed in city, group with a kid for keyboardist, police for guitarist, motorcycle mechanic for drummer, and a salesman for his bassist?
