"Makin' Fanon on a Friday night, yeah!"

Boyfriend:

  • Rather than using his canon name, most fans prefer to call Boyfriend either "Keith", "Evan", or "Cameron" in their fan works. The former two were referenced in the pre-game texts:
his name isn't keith, dumb eggy lol
his name isn't evan, silly tiktok
  • Despite Boyfriend's cyan hair being confirmed to be natural, some fans depict the color as being a result of hair dye. What color his natural hair is varies, but the most common choice is brown.
  • In fanart, Boyfriend is commonly drawn with fingerless gloves, painted nails, piercings and/or braces. Occasionally, the "🚫" symbol on his shirt is given a dripping, graffiti-like design. He's also frequently drawn with a black shirt underneath a white hoodie that has the same "🚫" symbol.
  • Boyfriend's height, or lack thereof, tends to be exaggerated for comedic effect, often making Girlfriend look like a Statuesque Stunner in comparison due to him not even going up to her knees.
  • If Boyfriend's family comes up, it's common for them to include Hatsune Miku being Boyfriend's Cool Big Sis, with he and his family being portrayed as angels to contrast with Girlfriend's family being demons.
  • Due to how plenty of the opponents genuinely intend to kill Boyfriend, but once he beats them in rap battles they drop the efforts until the next set of rap battles, plenty of fans have taken to the headcanon that Boyfriend is actually somehow Nigh-Invulnerable and immortal, with a few even depicting him as a Humanoid Abomination more powerful than the demonic Girlfriend and her parents, the canon Humanoid Abomination Monster, and the Eldritch Abomination Spirit. Part of this fanon is that the only way to kill him is through the Weaksauce Weakness of losing a rap battle, which makes him blue-ball so hard his skeleton cracks and he instantly dies.
  • It's fairly common for Boyfriend to be interpreted as a trans man.

Girlfriend:

  • Like Boyfriend, she's commonly referred to by different names, the most common being "Cherry", "Amelia", or "Gigi".
  • More than a few artworks depict an older Girlfriend as having purple skin and demonic features like her parents. Week 7 eventually confirmed that Girlfriend can take on the demonic purple skin and red pupils of her parents at will.
  • While depictions vary wildly, it's common to give Girlfriend a brother who looks more demonic and has traits from their father to contrast with her human appearance and resemblance to their mother.
  • While it's already clear in canon that Girlfriend is a Fearless Fool/Brainless Beauty who has no reactions to threats on her life but a Fear of Thunder, various mod creators like to elevate this into full-blown Skewed Priorities. All cases of genuine danger have her continue smiling without a care in the world, whereas much more mundane and relatively harmless frights, such as Whitty going through a depression-filled emotional breakdown in the Vs Whitty mod or Ruv from the Mid-Fight Masses mod having a thunderously booming and ground-shaking singing voice, manage to get her trembling. Phantom Arcade actually commented on this, saying that canonically, both are such Fearless Fools that not even Whitty or Ruv would scare Girlfriend.
    • Building off the "Girlfriend having Skewed Priorities" concept, plenty of fans have decided that the reason both her and Boyfriend are Fearless Fools is because Girlfriend and her family are super-powered demons, specifically that Girlfriend doesn't comprehend the concept of her ever being in actual danger due to her demonic heritage, whereas Boyfriend sees the fact he beat Daddy Dearest despite the guy's demonic nature means he has no reason to be scared of any other attempts on his life. Interestingly, multiple online posts by Phantom Arcade have strongly implied this is actually true, since alongside both being dumb he mentioned that Girlfriend was "strong", which was eventually near-confirmed in Week 7 when Girlfriend had her eyes glow red and her skin turn purple in response to Tankman telling his men to kill her, implying that she was acting Willfully Weak since she knew Boyfriend could handle things normally, and only gets serious when Boyfriend is in a situation that takes things beyond his control.
  • Fans typically give Girlfriend the last name "Gearest".

Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest:

Skid and Pump:

  • Various fan works have Skid and Pump do what they do best and somehow befriend Monster, with the latter acting as a sort of father figure to the two.

Pico:

Senpai:

  • It’s almost universally agreed upon that Senpai has a British accent if he isn’t just British outright.
  • As with the above example of Miku being Boyfriend's sister, some fans like to make Monika from Doki Doki Literature Club! Senpai's sister, due to them sharing the whole "high school visual novel Yandere AI" thing in common. Their similar designs also help.

Sergeant John Captain:

  • A concept that caught fire in the fandom is John being Pico's adoptive father, due to them both being mascots of Newgrounds and offering an easy explanation for both Pico's proficiency in guns and his incredible vulgarity. Believers of the fanon refer to it as "Tankdad".

Other:

  • It is widely believed in the fandom that harmonization in a song means the characters are in sync and enjoying themselves.
  • The game takes place in Philadelphia, as that is the place where the Newgrounds headquarters is located. Alternatively, it takes place in a city called "Newgrounds City," which is a common setting for fanfics of the game.
