These are recommendations made by Tropers for Wicked fanfics, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. Feel free to add a fanfic of your own to the list, but remember to use the template found here.

You can also add to the current recommendations if you want. Refrain from posting Conversation in the Main Page though; that goes in the discussion page.

Lady Tigelaar

  • Recommended by: Mel
  • Serving Fiyeraba Fluff for...a nice long time, and may she continue.

  • Recommended by: Mel
  • She hasn't written much, but what she has is spectacular.

  • Lovely.

Ridiculous Mavis

  • Recommended by: Jemas 42
  • Solid Gelphie stories, notable for being entirely unaltered by the musical. Has the voices of the characters and their interactions down.

  • Recommended by: Mel
  • While she's not the best about updating, she still has reams of wonderful writing.

  • One of best Fiyerba writers-if not best Wicked writers-on Has a clear love for Wicked and puts that love into every story, finishes each fanfic to completion so as not to keep her audience waiting too long, diverse plotlines( AU or otherwise)with excellent characterization and plotting overall. If you like spoiled but sweet Nessa, awkward but supportive Boq, great Gelphie friendship and well-done Fiyerba, check this writer out. You won't be disappointed.

  • Has been writing a very well written series since 2006. Consistently updates every Sunday. One of the gelphie-est au's I've ever read.

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

The Grand Vizier of Oz, by Sedri(bit of an AU)

  • Recommended by: Jinxed Blackcat, Elenor, The Otaku Ninja, Red-Dead-Redeemer
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: What would happen if the Wizard knew Elphaba was his daughter and was willing to do anything to have her stay? There are some elements for it to be Fiyero/Elphaba.
  • Comments: Complete. It's AU in that it veers away from the musical/book plot when Elphaba originally gets to meet the wizard.
  • Now has a tropes page.

The Narrative Strain by The Noble Arduenna

  • Recommended by: Ce
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: An incredibly deep, well thought out story about G(a)linda that starts the night of Doctor Dillamond's death. Galinda begins having nightmares about a traumatizing event in her past, and she has been attacked and actually injured by/in these dreams. She begins to believe something evil is rising up from inside her, while everyone else thinks she's gone mad. There's also an exploration in role reversal, but I won't say much for fear of spoiling things.
  • Comments: My synopsis is woefully lacking - the actual story is much better. There is some Gelphie, but if that sort of thing bothers you I suggest looking past it because this story definitely is worth being read. It's novel, not musical-verse, and the characterizations are spot on. Also, it's finally been completed.

No Good Deed, by Alydia Rackham.

  • Recommended by: Gordon Schumway
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Locked in Elphaba's study at Kiamo Ko, a terrified Dorothy fully expects to be killed when the hourglass runs out and Elphaba returns. What actually happens when Elphaba comes back is something Dorothy could never have expected.
  • Comments': If there's one thing I've always hated about certain parts of the Wicked fandom, it's the people who loathe and despise Dorothy for essentially being caught up in something completely beyond her control. Alydia doesn't do that, instead doing full justice to the characters of both Elphaba and Dorothy and the visions of both L. Frank Baum and Gregory Maguire. After a lifetime of failure, Elphaba manages to find redemption in one final act of kindness that frees her in turn, and may well have a greater impact than Dorothy could ever imagine.

The Shattering of Oz, by Straightjacked

  • Recommended by: Eccentricity
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A year after the events of the musical, Glinda has been ruling Oz as peacefully as she can, whilst Fiyero and Elphaba had made a new life for themselves beyond the deserts that surround the country. Unfortunately, when unruly sections of the populace demand that Glinda step down, Fiyero is unexpectedly summoned to the Emerald City... and Oz is left open to an invasion.
  • Comments: A slowly-progressing crossover between Wicked and Return to Oz, this fic explores not only the destruction of Oz by the invaders, but the effects of the musical's finale on both Elphaba and Glinda- which the Big Bad of the story is all too happy to exploit. Featuring OCs which thankfully haven't blossomed into bad characters and an unorthodox look at the Nomes of Return to Oz, this newly-finished story is well worth a look.

Treason Among Friends, by you don't know my name

  • Recommended by: Tov 01
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Elphaba and Fiyero are working with the Resistance while Glinda is unhappy with her own path in life and wants to join her friends, Elphaba in particular.
  • Comments: Complete. Based mostly on the book, with some elements from the musical.

The Land of What Might-Have-Been, by Straightjacked

  • Recommended by: Marcus S Lazarus
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: After spending so many years wishing that things had been different, what happens when, halfway through their final meeting, Elphaba and Glinda find themselves unexpectedly plunged into the worst of all possible worlds?
  • Comments: Diverging from canon just before Elphaba received Fiyero's note, a rift in reality sends the witches, Dorothy, and her companions into a dark possible future where Elphaba was given a normal, beautiful appearance, only to be subsequently driven completely insane, embarking on a warped crusade to 'force' beauty onto the rest of the world to the point of surgically altering peoples' brains to make them 'receptive' to her views. Each aspect of the storyline continues to impress, as circumstances force Dorothy and Glinda in particular to become stronger while Elphaba faces the worst aspects of herself (to say nothing of the in-plot revelations about what exactly happened to Dorothy, Fiyero, Boq and the Lion in this new world)...

Stories focused on the romantic relationships between the cast.

Scandalicious Princess by LostOzian

  • Recommended by: Riti Troll
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Elphaba/Fiyero
  • Synopsis: Everything is fine and dandy a few days before Spring Break at Shiz. Especially when Fiyero's come to terms with the fact that he's in love Elphaba. But just as he's ready to admit it to her, he notices that she may be a little too friendly with Galinda, ignoring the fact that Galinda is dating him. So he gets a little desperate to make the Elphaba he thinks is a lesbian to fall in love with him. Yes, by doing that.
  • Comments: Personally, I think it is quite possibly one of the best shows at humor ever, despite the fact that it can seem idiotic at times. MST3K Mantra will be very helpful at those times because, aside from Ritiga, most of the characters remain in-character whilst all the craziness is going on.

Accidents of Fate by the incredible danderson

  • Recommended by: The Chosen One 613, a shameless devotee
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Elphaba/Fiyero
  • Synopsis: Elphaba, escaping from an arranged marriage to "some stupid prince from the stupid Vinkus", is quite literally stumbled over by Fiyero, who is escaping his arranged marriage to some Munchkinlander girl he's never heard of—Elphaba, of course. Romance ensues.
  • Comments: While this troper would have liked it to continue, she still finds it to be astoundingly well-written, well-plotted, and, best of all, wonderful Elphaba/Fiyero.
    • Riti Troll: I second this one, and just about everything else by danderson. I have no clue why I didn't include her on this list before.

Unadulterated Something by Throppsicle

  • Recommended by: Life Should Be A Musical and matacusa
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Elphaba/G(a)linda
  • Synopsis: Unadulterated loathing becomes unadulterated loving, leaving Glinda to question who she is when Elphaba flees the Emerald City. Can she save Elphaba's life when they are finally reunited? Glinda's POV. Unadulterated GELPHIE. Musicalverse, book influence.
  • Comments: Remarkably well written, and this author has G(a)linda's wordplay down pat.

"Stories combining Wicked with other stories."

Second Chances by Mystical Magician (crossover with Harry Potter)

  • Recommended by: Fretful Queline
  • Status: Complete
  • After being flung, nearly dead, into a new world, Elphaba fashioned a life for herself as one Minerva Mcgonagall. A new arrival threatens to shatter the second chance she worked so hard to attain.
