Commander

  • Recommended by RuTsuna
  • Pairing(s): Cosmo/Wanda
  • Comments: This author has a distinct style of writing that has only gotten better over the years. Though her most popular fics tend to be angst, she writes for a wide variety of other genres. The author has a knack for coming up with original plots.

AmandaArtiste (AU that was written before Fairy Idol so any stuff introduced then will probably not be there)

  • Recommended by unknown20troper
  • Pairing(s): Timmy/Tootie, Chip Skylark/Vicky, Norm/Des(OC), Anti-Cosmo/Anti-Wanda etc.
  • Synopsis: A currently 7-part series mostly about Vicky, Chip Skylark, Tootie, Norm and Des(OC). After, you are finished reading the series, you should check out her DeviantArt (which contains spoilers for what will happen to the characters in the series' Alternate Universe, like whether they will have kids and what the kids will be named, plot twists etc.) Some of her drawings are of things further along on the Alternative Universe's Timeline than her stories are.

OddAuthor (AU post-Wishology)

  • Recommended by Treeclimber 42
  • Pairings: Timmy/Trixie, Cosmo/Wanda, Chester/Tootie
  • Synopsis: Set after the Wishology trilogy, the stories work off the premises that someone didn't forget when Jorgen wiped everyone's memories afterwards. While there is some shipping, the bigger focus is the friendship between Timmy, AJ, and Chester and the rather impressive collection of enemies that still want revenge. Saving the world is easier with friends.
  • Comments: It is always nice to find a story that ends up not turning the other girl into a psycho. Just because this writer supports Trixie as Timmy's girlfriend does not mean that Tootie is turned into a crazed stalker without any redeeming qualities. Both girls are treated like human beings: with good and bad traits. In the writer's own words, they have no interest in being involved in "shipping wars." Later entries start becoming crossovers with other shows, like The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, Danny Phantom, Planet Sheen, and Phineas and Ferb.

The All New Fairly OddParents! (and its spinoffs) by 1997DeviantIvan

  • Recommended by: LordPandon49
  • Pairing(s): Timmy/Trixie, Timmy/Tootie, OC/Veronica, OC/Chloe
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: A new kid moves to Dimmsdale: Ivan Prestonovich, an average Russian kid that nobody understands - except for Timmy Turner! Why? Because in reality he also has OddParents, fairly OddParents!
  • Comments: A back-to-basics five-season long Fix Fic, the author has tried to return the show to its classic roots after the less-than-well received ninth and tenth seasons. Timmy's friends show up more, continuity with the older seasons is reestablished, Timmy getting Character Rerailment and Character Development, along with plenty of Easter Eggs, Whole Plot References, and Take Thats for longtime fans of the show (and those of classic Nicktoons). The author has gone above and beyond to see their vision come to life. And that not only extends to creating five seasons' worth of plots and storylines, but actually getting art made of his OCs AND title cards for a few "episodes"! Plus, he even found the time to create spinoffs based on one-off characters from the Oh Yeah! Cartoons shorts AND a post-Channel Chasers series.

    General Fics
Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

A Method to my Madness by Mama_Qwerty

  • Recommended by FOP Troper
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A Denzel Crocker fanfiction that gives a fascinating and compelling insight to his madness and his obsession with Fairy God Parents!!
  • Comments: One of the most compelling Crocker fanfiction, it gives a very interesting take on how Crocker's madness is actually the fairy godparent's fault, specifically Jorgen and his goons. The memory wipe not only physically damaged young Denzel, he still sensed there were fairies, and it also left him with a feeling that they were responsible for his station in life

True Heroes: Year One, Year Two by Michael JJ (AU)

  • Recommended by Amras Felagund
  • Status:
    • Year One: Complete
    • Year Two: Dead
  • Pairing(s): Timmy/Trixie, AJ/Veronica
  • Synopsis: An Alternate Universe Fic showing what the world of FOP would be like if everyone had their superhero identities from the episode The Big Superhero Wish. Highly recommended.
  • Comments: It is quite a lengthy read, and there was definitely a lot of thought put into it. Timmy is a lot less of a Jerkass than he has been recently on the show. Also, crossovers with other Hero-fied Nick shows began cropping up by the end of Year One, such as the Guys in White, the Skyway Patrol, and the Swollen Eyeball Network. Once again, highly recommended.
  • I've only read a few chapters, so it may be too early to judge, but this troper thought the work was a little weak in the dialogue department. In addition, many of the characters were Outof Character. Still, the concept is kinda neat, and the fight scenes are rather well done. I only hope that it gets better from this point.Mind you, The Fairly OddParents! isn't exactly known for characterization, so this may or may not be a good thing.
  • Year Two hasn't been updated for two years as of February 2012. Dead Fic.

Norm's Story by xx-Oscena-xx

  • Recommended by unknown20troper
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: The compelling tale of Norm the Genie, whose tragic life of servitude turned him resentful and bitter. One-shot. Dark Fic.
  • Comments: It is very believable in explaining it if it a bit vague. It deals with the original series' moral dissonance, explaining why it is wrong for him to be treated like that without going all black-and-white. Norm's Story has a poetic, compelling, sad, bitter tone to it and fits the character well enough that I can picture him actually thinking like that. Her interpretation of Norm shows him as a justified version of The Resenter. Oscena manages to avoid buying Norm any leather pants. She acknowledges that he is a cruel jerk even though/if he's not evil. Themes from Norm's Story will crop up in Wishes so you should read it before you read Wishes.

Tears of Anger, Tears of Regret by razzamatazz73

  • Recommended by lackaDAISYcal
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Dark Fic, angst, and character death. Timmy acknowledges Cosmo's treatment of Wanda and tries to take care of her, and then Wanda realizes how much she depends on her godson. Sad family fic.
  • Comments: Powerful piece that actually acknowledges the deterioration of Cosmo's characterization while Butch Hartman focused on Danny Phantom. It ages Timmy believably, and the dynamic between Timmy and Wanda is sad and powerful all at once. Cosmo's random actions in the opening of the story reflect the arbitrary decline of the show, while the ending shows the consequences of what could have happened.

Imagine by Wanda Wish

  • Recommended by: The Otaku Ninja

  • Synopsis: What if, just maybe, things aren't always what we think.
  • Comments: A different take on the Fairly Oddparents story, one that gives you pause to wonder what's really happening during the show.

A Hole in the Head by Lonestarr

  • Recommended by: The Otaku Ninja
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: The memories that come back to us in life are never the ones we want to remember.
  • Comments: A darker look into the future that starts out as being told by an older Timmy... but takes a much different turn later on, and does end on a hopeful note. Also, has a surprising cameo from another Nickelodeon series...

Once the fairytale was over by Lilac Bloom 11

  • Recommended by: Maniago
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Originally a one-shot. Later got expanded with an alternate ending. Focusses on how Cosmo and Wanda move on after Timmy reaches adulthood and his fairies have to leave him.
  • Comments: first, keep in mind this fic was written before the character Poof was introduced in the series. This story perfectly shows how Cosmo and Wanda feel about having to say goodbye to Timmy and make plans for their future.

Never Had a Friend Like Me by Bookworm Gal

  • Recommended by Redandready 45, Tooearlyinthemorning
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: The little kid was weird. After 50,000 years, he thought he knew everything he needed to know about humanity. But this one refused to fit the normal pattern. Why didn't she make impulsive, dumb, greedy wishes like the rest of them? What was WRONG with her? And why did he care about her strangeness? Why did he care at all?
  • Comments: A very well written story on friendship. It takes the "Norm meets a nice master, and changes" story, and gives it a clever twist, with Norm changing through his friendship with a young girl. And yet the characters are written so well, it's like watching an episode of FOP. Highly recommended.

Sculpting Cheese Elvises by Commander

  • Recommended by RuTsuna
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A silly, off-the-wall fairy, still grieving and wracked with guilt over the death of his wife and unborn twins. His overly-responsible son, on the cusp between childhood and adulthood and thus in the midst of an identity crisis. And the distrusting, cynical, yet still longing for love girl they are assigned to. In the month that follows, Cosmo, Poof, and Anna just might discover not only the family they have with each other but also themselves.
  • Comments: This story is Part 3 of the series Sculpting Cheese Elvises, though it is not required that you read the previous 2 fics. Truth be told, this story is way past its rec date, as I should have done it a long time ago. It is wonderfully poignant and beautifully written, with characterization powerful enough to move one to tears with every read. Nothing short of a masterpiece.

"The Wolbachia pipientis bacteria changes the entire reproductive system of the host insect. Those who've caught it don't just lose the ability to reproduce with other species. They gain the ability to reproduce parthenogenetically."
  • Comments: Using a lot of Worldbuilding and various headcanons, they manage to craft a detailed history showing the life of the Head Pixie and the start of their species.

A Boy and His Poof by soulful-sin

  • Recommended by Jalpo99
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Minor one-sided Crocker/Wanda
  • Synopsis: With Crocker controlling Cosmo and Wanda, Timmy's left with Poof to try and save the day. Thankfully, he's got some unlikely allies...
  • Comments: This is a rather interesting read that takes the traditional FOP universe into a much darker world where Crocker manages to capture Timmy's fairies except for Poof. The original characters that are placed in are well developed and add to the plot (Amusingly, one OC that is featured in soulful-sin's other stories makes a cameo in this story, and laments that he isn't used much in this story other than being a throwaway character for Crocker). There are a few funny moments spread throughout, including some that takes a jab at the story they are in. It is still has lots of dark elements spread throughout especially in the segments featuring Older!Crocker, but it does end on a happy note with the events being restored to a close enough timeline through rather creative means. Involves lots, and lots, of time travel. Overall, a great read.

Happily Ever After by Amras Felagund

  • Recommended by Michael JJ

  • Synopsis: Timmy loves Trixie, and deep in her heart Trixie loves Timmy. But outside forces prevent them from being together, including Trixie's disapproving mother and a sinister villain hiding in the shadows.
  • Comments: Probably the best Timmy/Trixie fic on the web. Expect references to Danny Phantom and a few other properties. There are some dark moments, but overall very nice. Recently been revamped into The Definitive Edition, pairing Timmy with one of the newer characters, Molly.

Allies of Convenience by Expatkiwi

  • Synopsis: Tootie feels she can never win Timmy's affections when she sees his display of love for Trixie. But when the two girls encounter each other at the mall, Trixie offers to help Tootie win the boy's love.
  • Comments: This troper likes that someone is actually able to write Timmy/Tootie without invoking Die for Our Ship, even if the grammar and spelling are weak in places.

Meeting Trixie by AJCosmo

  • Recommended by Froggo Fan 64
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing(s): Remy/Trixie
  • Synopsis: Remy knows, in reality, the person who he more adores in the universe...
  • Comments: Admittedly, the story suffers some grammar mishaps on account of English not being the author's first language (click here to read his Spanish version), but fanfics about Fan-Preferred Couple Remy/Trixie are pretty hard to come by, and this one is definitely sweet.

The Truth About Prince Charming by S-Michael

  • Recommended by Speedbreaker
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing(s): Timmy/Vicky
  • Synopsis: At fourteen, Tootie is still in love with Timmy, though she hides it now. Then she catches him with someone else...
  • Comments: A Timmy/Vicky fanfic(!) told from Tootie's perspective without being an example of Die for Our Ship, this short-but-sweet story manages a surprisingly well-balanced tightrope walk on the Sliding Scale of Idealism vs. Cynicism.

The Truth About Trixie Tang by wafische

  • Recommended by Michael JJ

  • Pairing(s):Timmy/Trixie
  • Synopsis: Timmy accidentally discovers that Trixie leads a miserable life, constantly repressed by her mother. He decides to lend her Cosmo and Wanda for a while in hopes that they can help her. Unfortunately, Crocker hatches a plan soon after.
  • Comments: An early story that actually takes the time to explore Trixie's personality, something you don't see much of. Very well written.

Wishes by xx-Oscena-xx

  • Recommended by unknown20troper
  • Status: Dormant
  • Pairings: Surprise pairings, all involving at least one OC
  • Synopsis: This is a story set ten years into the future after Jorgen takes possession of Norm's lamp, when the fairy tosses out the lamp and it ends up back on earth. The lamp is discovered by a lonely girl named Amanda, who frees Norm by accident. When Norm meets his young new master and finds that she's unlike any other he's ever had, he's ultimately faced with a decision that could mean his freedom or her happiness. Read after reading Norm's Story.
  • Comments: The romance is hinted at well and almost every reviewer has made a comment about it in their reviews. The author is good at the writing principle called show, not tell. The author can switch moods easily without giving you bad Mood Whiplash. Both the angst and the funny aspects are well-written. The characters are portrayed more realistically than anyone ever is on the original show and In Character. It has some minor spelling errors but they don't detract from the story much and the author is really polite when you ask her to correct them. Norm is so IC that the story's FIRST reviewer called her characterization of him "Best Norm I've seen on this whole site". There is also lots of good Character Development of Norm and Amanda. This story has either created some new tropes or twisted some already existing tropes in ways that I've never seen before. The author balances Norm's cynicism with Amanda's idealism well, placing the fanfic somewhere on the middle of Sliding Scale of Idealism vs. Cynicism.

A Tale of Two Trixies By Chad Rocco of Familiar Faces fame.

  • Recommended by: Red-Dead-Redeemer
  • Status: Dead
  • Pairing: Timmy/Trixie
  • Synopsis: Timmy accidentally wishes that Trixie had never grown up hiding her tomboyish nature in order to be popular. He finds himself in a new reality wherein they have been friends since they were little kids, and are currently dating. Paralysed by the ramifications of what he's just done, Timmy tries this reality out.
  • Comments: Currently at part 3. Despite some occasional spelling and grammar mistakes, does a very good job of capturing the series humor (as well as adding some substantially more risque jokes), with a very good examination of the 'for want of a nail' of changing a person's entire life, as well as the clashing emotions of happiness and love. Despite being on DeviantArt, is a purely text based fanfic.

Silent Wish by AceShadow

  • Recommended by ArendAlphaEagle
  • Pairing(s): Timmy/Trixie
  • Status: Ongoing (kind of)
  • Synopsis: Timmy, now at age 16 in high school, begins to think that winning the heart of Trixie, now the leader of the Cool Kids Club that rules the high school, has become an impossible dream. However, as a movement known as the Student Union tries to overthrow the CKC, and a secret movement known as the Patriots strive for an equal and fair school system, and later on even supernatural threats popping up in the city, the two teens find themselves traveling a path neither could've imagined before, as they learn to work together, changing themselves and their relationship forever.
  • Comments: While it doesn't update frequently at all, nor is finished yet, it's an extremely well-written story and worth a read for the first seventeen chapters alone, which is more focused on the school systems, Timmy and Trixie's realtionship, Timmy's relationship with his fairies, Tad's rather sick obsession with Trixie, despite apparently dating Veronica, and a few more surprising twists, making this already one of the best Timxie fanfictions I've ever read. I'd like to see this story finished someday.

A Lonely Girl by OrangeRatchet

  • Recommended by ArendAlphaEagle
  • Pairing(s): Timmy/Trixie
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Timmy had wished that he and Trixie are the only people left in the universe, and that Trixie won't question why. However, Trixie is feeling lonelier and lonelier, and is getting afraid Timmy might disappear too, yet is unable to tell the truth. Timmy wants to talk to her about her feelings, and with the help of some hidden fairies, Trixie eventually complies.
  • Comments: A Fix Fic/AU of "Just The Two Of Us!", in which Trixie explains why she didn't want to be alone. You don't often see a Fix Fic of this particular episode, as other Timxie fanfics either retcon is as a mere dream (such as Happily Ever After mentioned above), or leave it in the timeline unharmed, make Trixie forget about it and make her feel horrible once she remembers it (like Discovery, also mentioned above), or just don't mention the events at all. This fanfic changes Trixie from a horribly deranged sociopath into something rather sweet and more rational. After all of that, Timmy wishes everything to normal and wishes Trixie remembers the sweet time she had with Timmy as a dream, and the two become secret friends the day after. This fanfic also has a sort-of direct sequel titled Getting Closer To Happiness.
