- Comments: A great Marco-centric story that has him pushing his way through an apprenticeship with the underappreciated Sir Lavabo and making friends with similar outcast squires. All while all the big events of season three concerning Eclipsa occur far, far in the background, thanks to Star and Marco not having time to physically interact anymore. It's interesting to see how Marco functions on Mewni without Star's companionship and aid and opens up the world a bit by having Marco deal with more standard day-to-day Mewni stuff regularly rather than constantly hanging with royalty, putting him into situations he would otherwise never find himself. The atmosphere of the original show is also retained, with Marco's oft-incredulous internal thoughts helping even the direst of situations keep a fun beat. Finally, I'll admit that the eventual Higgsco is something that I'm looking forward to, as it's probably the rarest Marco pairing and thus I'd love to see more fanfic writers play around with it. - Comments: A rather unique fic that takes on a different mythos on the character of Hekapoo by having her be her own species, learning of an even bigger conspiracy regarding her past. This also has her try to right some wrongs and be a full-fledged good guy, being friends with Star and others, as well as facing off against Mina and other notable villains, while still having humor, heart and action.

- Comments: This fic is basically a full-on epic. Spanning years as the characters fight, love, live and die, it tackles a lot but it always manages to bring its focus back to Star and Marco's journey. That's what makes the heart of this fic, and it's handled very well. The points where it crosses over with Gravity Falls are well-executed, giving us enough to make it important, but not overtaking the story's main focus. The epilogue goes on so long that it basically becomes a sequel, but the main story itself can be read without it. It is a thoroughly entertaining read that really captures the characters of the show.

- Comments: This is a great fic that manages to combine two unlikely universes into one, creating an awesome tale. Stands, ripple, and spin are paired together with Mewnian magic. The personalities of the main SVTFOE cast are expanded now that they don't have the constraints of the time of the show (for example, the episodes "Brittney's Party" and "Blood Moon Ball" are combined to create one episode, full of action), and there's an overall plot with the JoJo canon going on.

- Comments: "Groundhog Day" Loop stories come in two flavors for this troper: A simple "get that one thing right with infinite tries" story that doesn't bother to go into detail with explaining the rules (so the Deus ex Machina ending isn't so obvious), and a story that make the amateur mistake on attempting to explain how time travel works. For the first few chapters, this fic falls into the latter. Marco gets Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory before Star does, so the writing gives him the role of Mr. Exposition and the offscreen character development of living through enough loops to try everything he could think of on his own. (212 loops, ALMOST TWO AND A HALF YEARS.) Star, on the other hand, just joined in on the loop and wants to see how much stuff she can get away with. TL;DR: Marco brings the Angst and Star brings the Silly Rabbit, Cynicism Is for Losers!

- Comments: A story of horror in many ways, from it visceral imagery of imagined gore assaulting the senses of the main duo, the despair of being helpless against one's one paranoia and madness, and becoming playthings to monsters in human form too powerful to resist, with even the reader having to contend with hostile author notes. And the all too real horror of facing the oncoming death of one's loved ones and desperately doing everything in one's power to save them, even to apparently no real avail. Star and Marco, inflicted by the Doom Curse must delve deep into Eclipsa's past with the aid of the Mirror in order to find a way to save themselves from Fate itself. Despite the tags, it's a simple tale of Star doing her best to save Marco from a curse, and it's well written at that. It never falls into pure apathy-ridden despair, with Star herself always moving forward in spite of all the horrors. Admittedly a bit anvilious when it comes to certain topics.

- Synopsis: In this long fic epic, there exists a Negative Multiverse which is in parallel to the canon Positive Multiverse. One of the two protagonists (the other being the canon Star Butterfly), a young Mewman commoner called Adam, hails from the Negative Multiverse, in which the Butterfly Kingdom is instead the Butterfly Empire – a multiverse-spanning dominion that has conquered almost every dimension. Adam gains the power to cast magic when he absorbs the fragment of a wand that his universe’s Star left behind in the Negative Multiverse version of the episode “Storm the Castle”. The story depicts his journey to get revenge on the evil Dark Butterflies, taking him across multiverses, and his eventual rise from simple peasant to a powerful sorcerer, as a war against the Empire approaches on the horizon.
- Comments: This story has numerous dark elements but blends the jovial and upbeat elements of the SVTFOE universe with the darker and more tragic world of the Negative Multiverse. The story also introduces numerous new elements and mechanics to magic, and new characters, that add more dimensions to the SVTFOE mythos. I would say this story is quite well-written, and the characterisation of Adam is engaging and interesting. It is clear that careful attention has been paid to make Adam's growth as a sorcerer believable and realistic. Star, the other protagonist of the story, is also given a lot of character development, though given the story is supposed to be an alternate Season 3, and the rest of the events of the show are largely unaltered (aside from specified differences), it might conflict somewhat with Season 4 of the show. The author did however show interest in rewriting the Season 4 finale to better fit the events of this fic. The length of this story may dissuade readers, so they may instead find the Fanfiction.net form more enticing, as it is being written as separate stories as Volume I, Volume II and (presumably) Volume III.

- Synopsis: After spending 16 years in another dimension Marco is finding it a little hard to readjust to his life back on Earth. Then a few days later Hekapoo shows up at his door step with a daughter, their daughter! Needless to say he's going to have a lot more stuff to get used to.
- Comments: This is a well written story, characterization is amazing, following really closely to the show and the overall tone of the story is just wonderful. Character actions, motivations and even thought are not only on point, but also relatable and can easily be understood and empathized with. The idea itself is pretty interesting to read and fairly unique idea. The story expands on the last scene of Running with Scissors and the idea of Marco needing to adjust to returning to Earth after being gone for 16 years. Then takes another step exploring the possibility of Marco and Hekapoo having a relationship during those 16 years and having consequences in the form of a daughter that comes to live with Marco. One thing this fiction does well is exploring the thoughts and feelings of the other characters on these matters especially Marco’s parents and Star. The presence of their daughter, Seraph, changes several things and likely change how events will play out. The story takes time to show Marco and his new daughter adjusting to their new lives which helps develop the characters and their relationship.

- Comments: The best completed Star vs Fanfiction. Great characters and stories, that feel exactly like the show, but better. Makes great use of underused characters like Jackie and Higgs. The main villains, Eclipsa and Meteora, are intimidating, intelligent, and even somewhat sympathetic, and the side villains serve their roles well. The Starco dynamic is adorable and well written. The story also makes great use of the show's lore and tweaks what it needs to. Definitely worth a read.

- Comments: Fantastically written story that makes the most out of its premise while retaining the same tone as the actual series. Without Star in the picture, the main duo here is Janna and Marco, and it's fun to see how their friendship develops over the chapters from Janna only hanging around Marco purely to get a rise out of him to them becoming best friends. The story opens up a number of character interactions that I've never thought about, like Buff Frog and Jackie, as well as crafting an intriguing story arc that slowly explains what has been occurring in the multiverse to result in Star's disappearance and Janna's ownership of the book. Has a Tumblr blog here with additional art, worldbuilding, and writing updates. - Its a nice little AU, basically where Globgor saves Solaria from being killed by Seth, so she (begrudgingly) agree's to pay him a debt. Globgors chosen payment, to marry Princess Eclipsa, which infuriates Solaria to no end. So Eclipsa has two husbands, Shastacan and Globgor, each gave her a daughter, Festivia (who actually is Eclipsa's daughter as opposed to cannon) and Meteora respectively. Its nice seeing the two sisters grow up. I especially like the portrayals of Solaria and Mina, both still racist but care about Meteora. Unlike Shastacan who hates the situation so much he teams up with Seth of Septaris just to have both Meteora and Globgor killed.
