And as the familiar silhouette of a boy with a briefcase appears on TV sets at midnight, it’s only a matter of time before someone gives the people what they want.
• Comments: An interesting 'for want of a nail' story involving the Persona 4 protagonist preventing Adachi Tohru from being discovered as the true killer, leading him get away while Namatame is arrested instead. Years later, Adachi joins the Medjed investigation during the events of Persona 5 and begins his killings again, starting with the second Detective Prince: Akechi Goro. It shows just how another Wild Card, and this one extremely dangerous, can really affect the storyline and everyone's plans.

The Easily My Most Self-Indulgent AU Yet series by Silvex

• Pairing(s): Aragaki Shinjiro/Female Persona 3 Protagonist
• Synopsis: In which Shinjiro has a future worth living for, Ken can't seem to stay out of trouble, and Ren is wondering just what, exactly, a normal life looks like, because his is clearly as far from that as physically possible without being Ken or Teddie.
• Comments: A wonderfully funny series of fics exploring the aftermath of Persona 3, and the events of Persona 4 and 5, with Ken and Ren shattering the events that happen in both games, whether it be the fact that Ken is living with Dojima rather than Yu, or the fact that by Persona 5, Ren knows Exactly what is going on. antics ensue, all while the story also manages to weave in effective emotional scenes between the humour, leading to easily one of the best series of fanfics the fandom has to offer.

• Synopsis: Six years after the disbandment of the Phantom Thieves, the sea of human consciousness grows wild, a tide of chaos threatening to swallow up the recovering world... But at the burgeoning academy of Koashimizu, a band of eight defiant souls seeks redemption, and a home they can call their own.
• Comments: Essentially Persona 6, and it is very thorough. It follows the series standard of a diverse party of high school misfits exploring the cognitive world of Personas while trying to have a normal life, and like usual, it spins the concept to match its themes. This time around, it's a literal sea of consciousness (with a matching boat-shaped Velvet Room), with Palaces being replaced by Lands that represent the dream world of whoever is desperate enough to escape reality to rule one. It novelizes the game mechanics, again spinning them to be consistent with the theming. Confidants, Shadow-hunting sidequests, part-time jobs and hobbies, and even the Reaper are all seamlessly woven in. The story's title is even the game's theme color. Also, the protagonist is female, for the first time since the mobile port of Persona 3 (or 2 if you don't count gender swaps).

Although technically a Persona 5 sequel in terms of the greater setting, it features returning mechanics (such as the Water and Earth elements) and draws on lore from previous Persona games; notably, this includes 2, which is usually ignored because of the in-universe Cosmic Retcon and out-of-universe Continuity Reboot that happened at its conclusion.

In the Eye of the Beholder by HopeGale

• Synopsis: Lydia White is new to the small city of Quartz, having had to move there due to her dad's new job. When people start disappearing into the nearby woods, the ones that come back have an insatiable need to stare at their own reflection, known as Narcissus Syndrome. Upon awakening to the power of the Wild Card, Lydia and friends, christened the Quartz Idol Busters, must solve the mystery of Narcissus Syndrome and the quartz valley.
• Comments: In the Eye of the Beholder is a Persona fic that, rather than taking place in Japan, takes place in the United States three years after Persona 4, though it has only limited connections to it or the other games apart from the presence of the Velvet Room. Despite the change in setting, however, it feels much like you're reading a high-quality novelization fic for an actual Persona game. It also has a trope page.

Persona: The Sougawa Files by Arsene_Phantom

• Synopsis: Rina Oshiro has always lived a luxurious life due to her prestige, but her surroundings never allowed her to fully embrace it - until a few days ago, where she managed to seize an opportunity to move to the large city of Sougawa. While things seem great at first, her life promptly takes a sharp turn when she's thrust into a mystery detailing mysterious creatures called Shadows, that latch onto people and turn them into blissful husks. While Rina quickly develops a mysterious power known as "Persona", she quickly finds herself trapped in a battle involving Shadows, unexpected allies, and enemies far beyond her comprehension...
• Comments: This is a Persona fic that almost feels like an original game. It takes place in its own unique location, with colorful characters (with Rina being a particularly interesting protagonist) and foes alike, as well as a well-woven narrative. Though it's lacking any connection to other Persona games besides the Velvet Room, it does reference them here and there. Now has a trope page and a sequel.

Persona Zeroes! by UknownHero

• Synopsis: Suicide rates have been recently increasing in Ikemasen, Japan and nothing seems to be working. Fear is running rampant across the state, and the Kirijo Group is doing its best to reduce suicide rates in the town. It seems like a job for a Fool and his team, right? Well, the thing is… the Fool is the biggest scaredy cat in the country, and he leads a team of cowards. Don't be afraid.
• Comments: This an Original Flavour for the Persona series. The original characters prove to be uniquely promising so far. For a change, the Velvet Room is a chat room, and the underlying theme has to do with fears, and so the protagonist is fittingly a coward, but he soldiers through it.

• Synopsis: The Tokyo Lockdown is over for Midori Komaki, but when she is moved to Tatami Port Island to continue her education, she didn't expect to be called up to save the world again.
• Comments: Set in Gin's Route, Midori heads to Tatami Port Island after the events of the lockdown, only to end up becoming involved in the Dark Hour. This leads to her becoming involved in the plot of the story. This synopsis is just for the events of the first fic, set in Persona 3; it eventually moves on to Persona 4.

A Fool's Study Into Witchcraft by 741AuthorNCS

• Synopsis: The Magical World is declining as the Collective Consciousness of Humanity embraces modern technology. During that time, a Fool begins her journey by enrolling in Luna Nova to follow her missing idol's footsteps. Can she rekindle people's belief in magic once more? (She probably needs to study first though...)
• Comments: Not complete, but a solid story with a lot of potential even further down the line. The setting itself weaves the Persona-verse with the LWA-verse in a number of creative ways, and the fact that Atsuko's initial Persona Aradia is a character unto herself is right off the bat a unique approach: most SMT stories and media in general relegates the summons to near-mindless fighting machines once they're under the protagonist's control, and when they do get characterization it's usually played for gags. The fact that Aradia is acting as a bit of a guardian angel to Atsuko lends itself to some interesting events. Definitely a story to keep an eye on. It has a non-updating trope page.

• Synopsis: Byleth Eisner knew she was born a mercenary, she decided to live as a mercenary, and she assumed she would die a mercenary. The cards, however, told her that a different fate was in store for her, and meeting it would require the two skills she lacked in life: understanding people and understanding herself.
• Comments: A great fic that places Female!Byleth as the Fool fumbling her way through human interaction while still being badass on the battlefield.

Join Ren as he explores, fights, and steals his way across the Solistia region. Watch him as he makes new friends and rivals and discovers dark secrets. And just maybe...Take down a God or two. • Comment: Takes place in the future of Persona 5 Royal as Ren Amamiya is sent to the world of Octopath Traveler 2 to look into its Night Gods. It is probably the first crossover fic between the two critically acclaimed franchises and the story has gotten off to a great start.

Stuck in another world, Joker and the Phantom Thieves must now contend with Gods, Monsters, and crazy people trying to sell them Nikes. Can Joker lead his team back and stop Maruki?
• Comment: A crossover that makes sense.The author masterfully adds the Phantom Thieves from 3rd Semester to the world of Percy Jackson and there presence has notable effects on the world .The author has a good grasp on action as the fight scenes are some of the best.

Meating My True Self by OceanSpiral and Superbeans

• Synopsis: Bog Harbour wasn't a place listed in any 'Top 100 Vacation Locations' magazines. Hell, it was barely listed on the map. In tiny writing, as if it were a place you could forget even existed. But things took a turn for this dull, dingy town when a tacit young boy came to live with his obscure relative. Next thing he knew, middle school kids started disappearing without a trace. The locals were clueless, and the police clearly did not care, so it was up to Ken the Albino to solve the mystery of Bog Harbour, and bring the perpetrator to justice! ...well hopefully. Not ending up like the other victims would be enough of a success.
• Comments: Taking place from the POV of an Original Character, this fic details his interactions with the Bob's Burgers cast as they attempt to solve a chain of murders at Wagstaff School. Don't let the Weird Crossover fool you; this fic blends elements from the two series extremely well and keeps everyone in-character, with the OC having great dynamics with the existing cast.

Persona 5: Adult Confidants AU by ScruffyTurtles

• Status: Dormant (The Webtoons comic at least. The Twitter account is still ongoing though a bit slow.)
• Synopsis: The Adult Confidant AU is an alternate universe based on Persona 5. It follows adult confidants from the game as if they switched positions with the OG phantom thieves and vice versa, among many other age swaps within Persona 5. (Ex: Sojiro as the protag, Futaba as the caregiver, etc) This is to spin a new tale that is also familiar using the beloved adults from the game, while peering into how they could play as the Phantom Thieves of Hearts.
• Comments: Such an original spin to the Persona franchise as it utilizes characters such as Kawakami, Sojiro as well as the other adult confidants and puts them in a situation where they have to interact with each other creating interesting dynamics as well as certain headcanons into their backstory. The author's ideas behind the OG Phantom Thieves being responsible adults is also rather interesting as well and it is highly recommended you check it out!
