Fanfic / Touhou Galaxy

Go To

Touhou Galaxy is the first in a series of massive crossover fanfics written by Nan The Keyblade Master. It combines the Touhou video games with Super Mario Bros. and many other franchises such as Akame ga Kill! and Pokémon. It was completed on October 5, 2013.

When the Star Festival is introduced in Gensokyo, Bowser manages to crash the party and decides to kidnap Reimu! Will Marisa save Reimu while putting up with the Koopa Troop's shenanigans? If Mario and Luigi can do it, so can Marisa!

The story has long since been finished but has gone on to have multiple followups, 1 cancelled spin-off, 4 remakes (which ended up replacing the original stories) and 1 April Fool's Day story.

The follow ups can all be found here

Touhou Galaxy and it's follow-ups contain the following tropes:

  • 1-Up: In the original The Wrath of Master Xehanort, X, Zero, Tails, Ike, Marisa, Peach, Roll, Palutena, Meta Knight, Pit, Mokou, Kaguya, Dark Nebula, Saria, Lyn and Amy Rose head to the Mushroom Kingdom to gather 1-up Mushrooms after everyone else is killed by Tabuu.
  • Aborted Arc: In Dream Team, Bowser angrily threatening the heroes after they beat up Bowser Jr (his own fault due to recklessley challenging the heroes at the Battle Ring) is only mentioned by Kamek when the heroes show up at Neo Bowser Castle (though Bowser Jr does get better at the end of the story).
  • Adapted Out:
    • Dream Team doesn't have the Mole Hunt minigame.
    • Ludwig and Larry don't use Dark Battle Cards in Paper Jam.
    • Mario and the gang collect 259 Power Moons in Odyssey as there was no way the author was going to have them collect all 999 Power Moons.
  • Adaptational Alternate Ending:
    • Paper Jam ends with the start of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, with the Genius Girl being replaced with Elizabeth, Yoshiko, Anastasia, Xinah and Katie from Nan's Kingdom Hearts-verse to set up the Kingdom Battle adaptation.
    • Odyssey ends with Mario and Princess Peach getting married unlike in the game..
  • Adaptational Badass: Many characters such as the Mario Bros get this but possibly the biggest one is Dreamy Bowser who gains even more power than in the original game and requires a group consisting of characters from the Kingdom Hearts fic-verse to beat. Bea is also very good at fighting with her fists and feet and is one of the few capable of putting up a good fight against Esdeath.
  • Adaptational Deviation: During Giant Luigi and Giant Meiling's fight with Giant Bowser in Dream Team, the fight takes place on one platform instead of Giant Bowser being forced backwards by Giant Luigi's attacks and hopping to another platform when cornered. In addition, the Shy Guy that gives Bowser his meat is named Chef Guy instead of being a group of Spear Guys.
  • Adaptational Explanation:
    • In Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Antasma is the Warm-Up Boss but this is never followed up on when he appears later when Mario and Dreamy Luigi finally get to confront him after he kidnaps Peach. Here, he tried attacking Luigi and Meiling in their dreams but he wasn't at full power yet and most likely wasn't expecting Mario, Reimu, Marisa, Natsu, Erza and Flandre to fight back in the dream. Likewise, it wasn't explained when Peach was kidnapped by Bowser. In the fic, she's kidnapped shortly after Mario and the gang find her at Driftwood Shores.
  • Adaptational Wimp: The Fawful Express is easily beaten by Bowser, Bowser Jr and General Guy all culminating in Giant Bowser jumping the bridge and throwing the train into the chasm where it blows up.
  • Adaptation Expansion: In Chapter 15 of Odyssey, there's a cafe in New Donk City that Erza, Lucy, Ryuji, Ren, Futaba, Marnie, Gloria, Morgana and Hop eat at and most of them find Moon Shards in their snacks (Lucy's cake, Ryuji's coffee cake, Futaba's tea, Marnie's coffee and Gloria's Ice Cream) and the resulting moon being very sticky. Morgana requests it to go and Hop groans "That's nasty..."
  • Adaptational Name Change: Lava Bubbles are called Podoboos (their original name) in Odyssey.
  • A Day in the Limelight:
    • Cana takes on Luxord during ReMind due to being fellow card players.
    • Meiling is one of the stars of Dream Team due to her heavy sleeping.
    • Most of Chapter 20 of Odyssey focuses on Lysithea and Akame as they explore the Luncheon Kingdom.
  • Alternate Universe:
    • The paper universe to the main universe in Paper Jam.
    • Chapter 17 of Odyssey confirms that the Remake stories are this to the original few stories due to the events of Touhou battle having replaced the Galaxy, Galaxy 2, Return of the Shadow Queen and Return of Master Xehanort with the remade stories in the timeline with only the Kingdom Hearts fic-verse characters aware of the change.
  • And This Is for...: In Chapter 17 of Dream Team, after Kamek is by Reimu's Fantasy Seal and Marisa's Blazing Star, Marisa says "And that... was for all those insults you gave to everyone during that battle!"
  • An Ice Person:
    • Gray, Cirno, Mei and Esdeath have this ability just like in their home series.
    • Mario, Reimu, Ren, Luminary and Cloud get ice powers in Wrath of Master Xehanort after Mario gives the latter four Penguin Suits and gives one to himself to turn into Penguin Mario. For some reason though, Reimu, Ren, Luminary and Cloud get diving suits instead of Penguin Suits.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Esdeath gets her arm sliced off by Juvia's Water Slicer in Odyssey and replaces it with one made of ice.
  • Ascended Extra:
    • General Guy is a recurring character in Bowser's Inside Story, Dream Team and Odyssey.
    • Virgo gets a lot to do during Dream Team such as aiding in the fight against Torkscrew, getting Starlow and Dreambert to have Dreamy Luigi and Dreamy Meiling go into their giant forms and holding the pieces of the Ultibed in the Celestial World.
    • Bea is one of the recurring party members starting with Revenge of the Shadow Queen Remastered.
    • In the original Galaxy 2, Organization XII were basically a bunch of thugs recruited by Bowser to stop the heroes from rescuing Xion. In the remakes of Galaxy 2, Revenge of the Shadow Queen and Wrath of Master Xehanort, they are the main antagonists of the stories.
    • Blue Toad is one of the protagonists of 3D World.
    • Captain Toad appears in 3D World (outside of the Captain Toad levels), Dream Team and Paper Jam.
  • Asshole Victim: Esdeath, Seryu and Honest have brutal deaths in Odyssey...but considering all their crimes, no one feels bad.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever:
    • In Bowser's Inside Story, Bowser grows huge four times just like in the game.
    • In Dream Team, Dreamy Luigi and Dreamy Meiling.
    • In Paper Jam, Luigi and Meiling via Mega Mushrooms to stop Bowser, Paper Bowser, Kamek and Paper Kamek's Papercrafts and to battle Shiny RoboBowser.
  • Ax-Crazy: Fawful, Esdeath and Seryu are all totally off their rockers.
  • Back from the Dead:
    • Revenge of the Shadow Queen Remastered ends with all the heroes that were killed coming back to life thanks to the Crystal Stars, the Pure Hearts and the Star Spirits.
    • Mercy in Odyssey brings Gray back to life after he's killed by Esdeath during their first battle, but Esdeath doesn't take too kindly to this and attacks Mercy. Mercy later clarifies to Akame that it only works on one person and only if that person died recently around her.
  • Balloon Belly: Natsu ends up really fat at the end of Chapter 21 of Odyssey after eating a lot of Stupendous Stew which is commented on by the other characters (Akame poking him with a stick and asking if she can pop him, Spy wondering how Natsu is still alive). In the next chapter, Happy, Min Min, Mario, Luigi, Daisy, Heavy, Mei, Hilda, Haru and Ren grab Natsu during the battle with the Ruined Dragon and racing over, throw him high in the air as Natsu uses a Fire Dragon Meteor Smash to beat the Ruined Dragon and is somehow restored to normal in the process.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: The characters have no problem breathing during Galaxy, Galaxy 2, Wrath of Xehanort ReMind and Odyssey in space which is, of course, lampshaded by the non-Mario characters.
  • Beach Episode: Chapter 19 of Odyssey is this as the gang arrives at Bubblaine and most of them go to relax and are reunited with Byleth, Dorothea, Kamui, Camilla, Sakura, Elise, Claude and Hilda. It's not all fun in the sun though: Marisa gets over her aquaphobia to save Reimu from Maw-Rays (and then realizes that she could have provided air support against Kingfin!) and Gray has to calm down Bea after seeing her relentlessly pummel a sand sculpture of Esdeath into nothing twice. He does so by telling her about when he wanted to destroy something that took a friend of his who taught him ice magic until a close friend of his knocked him back to his senses. After pointing out to Bea she's not thinking straight and is setting herself up for complete destruction and he says he got cocky and underestimated Esdeath. He then says he's not making that mistake again and isn't going to let Bea make that mistake either and they'll take out Esdeath together. Bea then realizes what happened saying she was so blinded by her anger and lost all focus, to which Gray says happens to the best of them and even forgives Bea for their fight on the Odyssey. Several members of the group then fight and beat Mollusque-Lanceur. The gang relaxes at Bubblaine for a few more minutes afterwards before setting off again.
  • Berserk Button:
    • In the original Touhou Galaxy, calling Marisa's outfit tacky would result in her flipping out and proceeding to Master Spark you in Oblivion.
    • Kamek would always get under Marisa's skin to the point that the mere sight of him would make her go crazy.
    • Xehanort proceeds to knock out everyone after Sora declares he won't clash with him, just to test him out. Sora couldn't take it anymore and goes full on Rage Mode to attack Xehanort, just as Xehanort was hoping for.
    • In ReMind, Kairi seeing Xehanort steal Sora's light and turning him into his Rage form causes her to go into her Guardian Angel form.
    • In Bowser's Inside Story, chapter 19, Midbus gets completely slagged off when Junker not only starts dancing but Mario and the gang join in too.
    • In Dream Team, Kamek's insult fest against various Sabrinaverse characters such as Samus and Kai prompts them to go to the Touhouverse and beat him up.
    • In Odyssey, Esdeath's philosophy of the strong surviving and the weak dying gets to Bea to the point where the Galarian Karate Prodigy sets up a sand sculpture of Esdeath at Bubblaine and pummels it into nothing. Gray has to calm down Bea.
  • BFS: Gray impales Esdeath with one of these in Chapter 29 of Odyssey
  • Big Bad: Mostly Bowser, but other villains such as Xehanort and King Boo have gotten time to shine.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Akame is a food-obsessed Cloudcuckoolander, but she helps out in the fights with the Ruined Dragon and Esdeath and contributes to the latter's death, by slashing Esdeath with her curse-infused sword.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Several villains such as Bowser and Paper Bowser and Ganondorf and Paper Ganondorf in Paper Jam and Maleficent and Ridley in Kingdom Battle.
  • Big Ball of Violence: In Chapter 27 of Odyssey, the TF2 Mercenaries, Akame and Mercy get into one with Morton which includes antics such as Engineer erecting a dispenser — due to force of habit and Medic accidentally sawing Mercy's leg off! Akame lampshades this when she complains it's hard to see.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Several times such as Sora saving Marisa from the Ice Titan in the original version of Galaxy 2 and Nitori and FLUDD saving Cirno and Daiyousei from Lava Piranha in that fic as well and Marisa, Samus, Reimu, Cirno, Utsuho, Komachi, Mokou, Captain Falcon, Suika, Dante, Rosalina, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, Yang Xiao Long, Jaune Arc, Nora Valkyrie, Pyrrha Nikos and Lie Ren from Nan's Kingdom Hearts-verse showing up to save the heroes in Dream Team.
  • Big Eater: Several characters such as Natsu, Lysithea and Akame love to eat and eat a lot though in Odyssey, Lysithea loses her appetite after seeing Akame wolf down her food at the Luncheon Kingdom.
  • Big Fancy Castle: Princess Peach and Bowser's castles.
  • Bigger on the Inside: The Odyssey winds up as this by the end of Odyssey due to Yukari using her powers to expand the ship's interior size whenever a particularly big group joins the heroes.
  • Big "WHAT?!": In Chapter 30 of Odyssey, this is Rex's reaction (along with a Spit Take) when Pyra and Mythra catch the bouquet
  • Bouquet Toss: Peach does one of these at then end of her wedding to Mario in Odyssey, which results in most of the single ladies (with the exceptions of the Pokémon girls and the Gensokyo girls) fighting for it. Pyra and Mythra catch it, much to Rex's shock.
  • Boss Bonanza: Chapter 21 of the original Galaxy 2 has the heroes facing off against many villains at Battlerock such as Organization XIII, Marx, Metal Sonic and Jr. Troopa. Chapter 39 does the same thing including villains such as Julius and the Armored Sentient.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall:
    • Pit does this a lot in the early fics, much to the confusion of the other characters.
    • Deadpool does this when he shows up at the end of Chapter 17 of Dream Team
    • Chapter 25 of Dream Team has Futaba taking advantage of Iggy Koopa having a flashback (Iggy has his Mechakoopas holding small knives because katanas weren't working) to hack his Zappa and Blasta Mechakoopas and have them zap and blast him into defeat.
    • When Travis Touchdown introduces himself to the gang in Chapter 15 of Odyssey, he looks at the screen and says "What? That joke was already used in the other story universe, even though I'm a completely different person here. I don't like repeating myself."
  • Buffet Buffoonery: The Shy Guy Buffet is a recurring location with characters frequently heading there to eat.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: A heroic example in Rabbids: Kingdom Battle when Mario asks "who are you again?" to Captain Goomba saying [Captain Goomba]'s got a bone to pick with Mario. Justified as at the time Captain Goomba was just used for the tutorial battle in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and didn't have his name yet.
  • The Cameo:
    • Sgt. Kerokero and a couple of his friends appear in Galaxy 2 Remastered as the true identities of the shadowy figures at Shiverburn Galaxy.
    • Doomguy makes an epic one in Revenge of the Shadow Queen Remastered, being gapped in by Yukari, killing the Shadow Queen brutally and then being gapped back home.
    • Poochy appears in chapter 26 of Odyssey, a reference to the fact that he could be fished up from the poison pond in Bowser's Kingdom (which is exactly where he appears in the fanfic too).
  • Canon Foreigner: Poisontail in Revenge of the Shadow Queen Remastered who manages to kill Viridi during the heroes' battle with him before being taken down himself.
  • Call-Back: Several times such as in chapter 23 of Odyssey, the Odyssey crash lands on Seryu, only for her to be just fine once Koro lifts it off. In chapter 29, Gloria accidentally crash lands the Odyssey on Seryu's head and this time it kills her.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Several characters such as Belle, Dark Nebula and Demise have not been seen or mentioned since the original The Wrath of Master Xehanort and 3D World.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Akame is incredibly odd, doing things such as licking a Goomba to see how tasty it is and taking till the end of the explanation on what Mario and the gang have been getting up to and the previous stories to realize she crash landed on Lysithea.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Multiple times such as in Paper Jam when some of Bowser's minions free the Peaches and Zeldas from their cage at Bowser's villa due to mistaking the Zeldas in disguise as Sheiks for homeless men.
  • Cooldown Hug: Xion gives one to Rosalina in Chapter 7 of ReMind after the latter's Rage Breaking Point.
  • Cool Old Guy: Chapter 21 of the original Galaxy 2, Professor E. Gadd is able to kill Xemnas using F.L.U.D.D. to shoot Xemnas with rockets.
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: In Odyssey, Red and Green Koopa Bros. are left in their boxers after their shells shatter when Jade and Youmu send the bumbling duo flying into a wall after the two Koopas ambush Marnie who sliced through the Koopa Bros. ultimate attack.
  • Continuity Nod: Many, one in particular being in chapter 13 of Paper Jam when Luigi uses two Mega Mushrooms to make himself and Meiling huge allowing them to destroy Papercraft Giga Bowser and Papercraft Kamek and later to battle Shiny RoboBowser.
  • Cover Innocent Eyes and Ears: Sakuya covers the Emperor's eyes in Chapter 30 of Odyssey when she impales Honest with her knives. The Emperor moves Sakuya's fingers so he can see what happened and winces with an "Oh!".
  • Cute Ghost Girl: Xion turns into one of these in Chapter 27 of the original Galaxy 2 after eating a Boo Mushroom.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Multiple times such as the battles at Battlerock Galaxy in the original Galaxy 2, Bayonetta vs. Sora, Donald and Goofy in Galaxy 2 Remastered, Kingdom Hearts-verse Marisa and her group vs Dreamy Bowser in Dream Team after the latter curbstomped Mario and the gang and Flandre vs Esdeath in Odyssey with the second time resulting in Esdeath's death.
  • Crossover: Starting in Chapter 17 of Dream Team, characters from Nan's Kingdom Hearts fics start traveling to the Touhou universe to help out in the (non-remake fics) with the exception of Odyssey.
  • Cuteness Proximity: In the original Galaxy 2, Xion finds the Pupdozers to be completely adorable.
  • Damsel out of Distress: In the updated version of Galaxy, Peach is able to get herself and Reimu free from Bowser's castle.
  • Darker and Edgier:
    • Youmu's Mansion, Paper Jam, Kingdom Battle and Galaxy 2 Remastered are much darker than the other stories including brutal battles and character deaths.
    • Revenge of the Shadow Queen was pretty dark, and then the remake comes along and makes it even darker!
  • Defensive "What?":
    • Gajeel does this in Dream Team when Brickle sees the former eating the remains of the Grobot, with Gajeel saying he got hungry.
    • Cirno, Gray and Mei do this in Chapter 22 of Odyssey when the gang looks at them as they're flying away from the Ruined Kingdom due to the Odyssey becoming a lot colder all of a sudden. Turns out it's Esdeath's doing.
  • Dead Alternate Counterpart: Toadsworth's Sabrinaverse counterpart passed away and as such that universe's group gives him an incredibly sad look at the end of Dream Team. Toadsworth finds this out in Paper Jam.
  • Demoted to Extra: In Galaxy 2 Remastered, this happens to Bowser and Dr. Eggman due to Organization XII being much larger threats.
  • Denser and Wackier: The original Galaxy 2 is one big hilarity-fest including Cirno Perfect Freezing Puzzle Plank Galaxy and insisting its new name is Snowy Plank Galaxy whenever someone calls it Puzzle Plank Galaxy and Toon Link beating Gohma due to Pokémon Trainer's Charizard getting its tail stuck (and after he, Squirtle and Ivysaur get Charizard's tail free, the trainer wonders what happened to Charizard's tail).
  • Didn't See That Coming: A lot of times such as Rayquaza showing up to battle Gobblegut in the original Galaxy 2 (Bowser Jr. built his Fiery Flotilla on the Sky High Pokémon's turf) and the Kingdom Hearts-verse characters showing up in chapter 17 of Dream Team and again in the final chapter to stop Dreamy Bowser.
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • Kamek insulting the Sabrinaverse characters gets him beaten up by them (along with Yang (who's here because Kamek insulted Ruby) and Sabrinaverse!Marisa (who just doesn't like Kamek).
    • Bowser and Paper Bowser destroying the Mushroom Kingdom over what amounted to a misunderstanding (The Peaches and Zeldas had already escaped and nobody knew that) results in Mario and the gang Storming the Castle with every intent to give the duo a brutal beatdown in revenge.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point:
    • In Dream Team, Clownpiece claims that Reimu doesn't care about [Clownpiece] but Reimu says that Clownpiece is never around and that Reimu honestly enjoys Clownpiece's company. This leads to Clownpiece's Heel Realization and Heel–Face Turn with Yukari's help.
    • In Odyssey, Esdeath honestly believes that Tatsu loves her. When he flat-out tells her he doesn't, she gets really angry and threatens to kill everyone who's currently on the moon.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Gloria in Chapter 29 of Odyssey, though it ends up helping the heroes when she accidentally crash lands the Odyssey on top of Seryu.
  • Dynamic Entry: In Partners in Time chapter 2, Flandre comes in for a landing and lands hard enough to form a small crater in the ground and send Luigi falling into the time portal.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: There's a lot that's different in the first four fanfics to the point where the author released remastered versions in order to bring them up to the rest of his fanfic's standards. One big one is in the orignal Touhou Galaxy 2, the heroes that join the team are given earpieces that they can adjust to listen in what the other heroes are up to. Likewise, Dry Bowser only shows up in the final chapter of Paper Jam and is beaten by Bowser unlike in Super RWBY Sisters where Dry Bowser is a major threat.
  • Faint in Shock: Dreambert pales up and faints at the end of Dream Team when the Zeekeeper turns the dust of the Dream Stone into a giant Dream Coin and then smashes it yelling "FREE COINS FOR ALL!"
  • Fast Tunnelling: Virgo puts this to good use throughout Dream Team such as digging all the way to the dream portal in Dream's Deep to get Starlow and Dreambert to press on Luigi and Meiling's caps to enable them to grow huge.
  • Foreshadowing: In Chapter 12 of Dream Team, Seatoon thinks that Erza, Marisa, Gajeel, Sakuya, and Lily are Team RWBY. That same team is amongst the reinforcements that Kingdom Hearts-verse Marisa brings along for the final battle against Dreamy Bowser.
  • Friend to All Living Things: In the original Galaxy 2, Xion befriends the Pupdozers living at Flipsville Galaxy and is able to get a Power Star from Glamdozer without a fight. Lubba is confused by these as normally Pupdozers are agressive and Glamdozer is a very dangerous Pupdozer. Roxas also mentions he saw Xion playing with a dolphin the previous week and was very gentle with it. Lubba states that the creatures can sense Xion means no harm.
  • Friendly Enemy: Junker high fives the gang after they dance together in chapter 19 of Bowser's Inside Story.
  • Funny Background Event: In Partners in Time, while the adults are talking with Kylie Koopa about what the Shroobs are planning to do, Luigi is being chased around by a Shroob as the kid versions of the heroes try to help, only to beat up Luigi more and culminating in Baby Mario and Baby Luigi standing on top one another and forming a mini tornado to beat the Shroob and sending Luigi flying as well! Luigi crashes to the ground in front of the group after Kylie leaves, claiming he was flying when asked what happened and muttering kids are a pain.
  • Giving Up the Ghost: Junko does this in Dream Team after a Dreamy Meiling-powered Flandre tells Junko "Boo" after their "fight" which causes Flandre to say "Aww, don't die on me now" and shoves the Divine Spirit's soul back into her body.
  • Groin Attack: Xemnas in Wrath of Xehanort: ReMind gets this from Kairi after pushing her Berserk Button.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: In Kingdom Battle, Sunny, Luna and Star are initially on Maleficent's side due to thinking she had cool magic. Daiyousei, Wriggle and Clownpiece spelling out to the trio's faces that Maleficent is evil, namely due to possessing Flandre and the trio were double crossed causes them to come back to the heroes.
  • Heel–Face Turn:
    • In Dream Team, Clownpiece switches sides due to Yukari helping the former realize that though Reimu may be mean, she does care about Clownpiece. Hecatia and Junko follow suit after realizing that their revenge on the gang failed and Bowser betrayed Antasma.
    • The surviving Jaegers defect in Odyssey's final chapter after Sakuya tells them about Esdeath's death and shows them her body.
  • Hijacked by Ganon: The Trope Namer and his paper counterpart take over as the main villains in the last chapter of Paper Jam and Maleficent and Ridley are the last opponents of Kingdom Battle.
  • Hold Your Hippogriffs: In Paper Jam, a Fire Bro says "Oh good...HEY! You're gonna throw me under the Wiggler bus like that?!" after another Fire Bro tells him that they can tell both Bowsers, Kameks and Ganondorfs that Flandre took the medallion and killed the group of Fire Bros. and the first one was the one to let them get away with it.
  • How We Got Here: In Odyssey, when Mario and the gang arrive in the Luncheon Kingdom in Chapter 20, they hear the volcano erupting and screaming before Lysithea crash lands in front of them. She barely gets out a "Oh, hey gu—", before Akame lands on top of her and knocks her out. The rest of the chapter is about what happened to them.
  • Human Popsicle: Mario, Cappy, Peach, Tiara, Luigi, Marisa, Daisy, Reimu, Bowser, Sonic, Tatsumi and Mine are frozen solid by Esdeath in Chapter 29 of Odyssey. This also happens to Erza during the battle and she and the others are thawed out once Esdeath's killed.
  • Impact Silhouette: Usually when a character flees such as in Odyssey, when a Sledge Bro flees after seeing Bea beat up all of his Ninjis.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice:
    • Sakuya's specialty thanks to her flying knives.
    • During the final battle with Esdeath in Odyssey, after Sakuya nails Esdeath with Phantomic Killer in Night Mist and Soul Sculpture, Gray sneaks up on Esdeath and impales her through the torso with an ice greatsword followed by Bea stabbing Esdeath in the chest with part of the latter's own ice rapier.
    • Sakuya impales Honest with her knives as part of his death in the final chapter.
  • It's a Long Story: Reimu says this trope verbatim at the end of Chapter 20 of Odyssey when Akame asks who the gang are.
  • Jump Rope Blunders: In Chapter 15 of Odyssey, Scout, Tracer and Soldier come across two women playing jump rope and they offer to let the trio play as the high score is 100. However, each time one of the trio jumps, the speed picks up which results in Scout and Tracer landing on their butts after getting a score of 45 and 50 respectively. Soldier tries...but gets himself tangled up and his helmet gets knocked off and it's not known what his score is. Bea then arrives and after helping Soldier get untangled, does it herself and gets a high score of 1,001 and two Power Moons! Needless to say, the two women are shocked, Soldier says he wants Bea on RED team and Scout wonders if they just got shown up by a gymnast to which Tracer says they did while dragging Scout away.
  • Killed Off for Real: Esdeath is killed in chapter 29 of Odyssey after Gray runs her through with an ice greatsword through the abdomen, Bea stabs Esdeath with part of the latter's own ice rapier, Akame slices Esdeath with her sword, inflicting the sword's curse on Esdeath and Flandre makes Esdeath's insides implode. Seryu follows soon after when Gloria accidentally lands the Odyssey on the crazed girl's head. Honest is killed in the final chapter via Sakuya impaling him with her knives followed by a ton of explosives.
  • Kick the Dog: Esdeath does this a lot in Odyssey such as slicing off Topper's paw when he refuses to reveal where the Broodals got the Frost-Frosted Cake, freezing the Odyssey after the gang leaves the Ruined Kingdom and freezing most of the gang on the moon after Tatsumi delivers a "The Reason You Suck" Speech that he does not love her.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Organization XIII in Galaxy 2 Remastered, Revenge of the Shadow Queen and Wrath of Master Xehanort ReMind and Esdeath in Odyssey cause their stories to go from what were lighthearted stories to never knowing when they will pop up and make life difficult for the heroes until the defeats of Organization XIII and Esdeath's deaths.
  • Lampshade Hanging: In the different fics, characters will comment about things such as locations feeling familiar (such as Marnie and Bowser's castle) as a reference to Super RWBY Sisters.
  • Let Me Get This Straight...: Akame does this in Chapter 21 of Odyssey after Mario and the gang tell her how they met and their adventures up to this point. Mercy has to give her a vitamin to help with Akame's headache and black smoke pouring out of her ears.
  • Living Crashpad: Happens to Lysithea twice in Odyssey, first after a Volbanian flicks her and Akame and Akame lands on Lysithea (causing the latter to say she's bleeding internally), and again after Akame lands on Lysithea after Mount Volbono erupts, causing Lysithea to be knocked out up until Akame does a Let Me Get This Straight... after hearing how the gang met and the various threats they've faced.
  • Mama Bear: Rosalina applies to this especially in the Remake as villains like Xemnas and Young Xehanort learned very painfully the hard way.
  • Making a Splash: Juvia, Aquarius, Nitori, Demyx and F.L.U.D.D. all have this ability, though Aquarius does so reluctantly (at best!) due to tending to be summoned when she's in the middle of something.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: The story started as Mario and Touhou Project and went from there. Even Dream Team has the smallest cast which is still Mario, Touhou and Fairy Tail as well as characters from Nan's Kingdom Hearts verse.
  • The Medic: Multiple ones including Kairi (using Curaga and Esuna), Wendy (Her Sky Magic), Bea (carries around potions, having been inspired by Marnie during the Revenge Of The Shadow Queen Remastered), the Medic (his healing gun), Aerith (Curaga and Esuna as well), Elise and Sakura (their healing staves).
  • Megaton Punch: Captain Falcon and Yang use a Falcon and Yang Punch to send Bowser flying in the final chapter of Dream Team.
  • Mood Whiplash: Many times such as in Odyssey's penultimate chapter when Princess Peach gives a "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Bowser, then Mario prepares to propose to Peach only for a blizzard to surround the group as Esdeath arrives.
  • The Multiverse: Touhou Galaxy has been expanded to be part of a wider multiverse consisting of the author's other fanfic series: Super RWBY Sisters and its multiverse, Sora's Adventures, and Sabrinaverse.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: This is Reimu's response in Kingdom Battle when Marisa and the group abandons her for refusing to listen to reason and trying to kill the Kingdom Hearts-verse characters who had come to help and said what had happened was an accident. Reimu even claims the group would be better off without her! Luckily, Viridi snaps her out of it.
  • Named by the Adaptation: In Wrath of Xehanort ReMind, Kairi's Keyblade is called Angelic Love while her form from the Armored Xehanort boss battle is called Guardian Angel.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown:
    • In Chapter 17 of Dream Team, Kamek is on the receiving end of one from everyone from the Kingdom Hearts-verse he insulted along with Yang and Marisa.
    • In ReMind, Kairi goes into Guardian Angel form and delivers one of these to Xehanort after the old fart takes Sora's light via beams of light from Xehanort's X-Blade and surprises the rest of the group.
  • No Ontological Inertia: After Esdeath's death in Odyssey, the frozen characters such as Mario, Sonic and Erza are unthawed.
  • Noodle Incident: While Dream Team shows how the Sabrinaverse version of Yukari and the Touhou-verse version of Yukari met, it is never found out how the Sabrinaverse characters found out about Kamek insulting them during his fight with Touhouverse Marisa and Reimu.
  • Not So Above It All: In ReMind, Ifrit is amongst the heroes looking surprised after Kairi's Roaring Rampage of Revenge against Xehanort after he steals Sora's light.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome:
    • In Dream Team, Mario and the gang against the Elite Trio as Marisa takes on Kamek to take back her Hakkero.
    • In Paper Jam, Mario and most of the gang gathering Fire Ore for Toadette.
    • After the events of ReMind, the heroes such as the Phantom Thieves and the Galar gang who appeared in Galaxy 2 Remastered and the next two stories went back to their home worlds and did the events of the rest of their games such as Gloria doing the events of the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra as well as the Galarian Star Tournament. In addition, during the events of Kingdom Battle, the heroes were occupied with the Rabbids with the Phantom Thieves finding out that Rabbids could summon Personas in Mementos.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: In Odyssey:
    • Gloria, Hop and Marnie are with the group when they arrive on the moon and Gloria sends out Calyrex when they find the captured steeds and the Swords of Justice but the trio later show up in the Odyssey thanks to Gloria's bad driving.
    • Erza suddenly arrives to block Bowser when he still tries to grab Peach after Marisa pulls his cap that ued to capture Peach off his head and Reimu finishes him with a Fantasy Seal. Lampshaded when Marisa asks "Where'd SHE come from?!" I thought everyone was still at the church!" to which Reimu responds with "Apparently not her."
  • Oh, Crap!: A lot such as in both Galaxy stories when Bowser invades Gensoyko and in Odyssey when Honest realizes he's done for.
  • The One Guy: In Odyssey, Claude is the sole guy amongst the main Fire Emblem group.
  • Papa Wolf:
    • Bowser gets really angry at the heroes for beating up Bowser Jr. in Dream Team, despite the fact that the little guy snuck out of his spot in the Battle Ring to challenge the heroes by himself. Averted as he doesn't mention it when the heroes confront him for the final battle.
    • In Paper Jam, the Bowsers get really angry at the heroes for beating up both Bowser Jr's despite the fact there was a misunderstanding (The Peaches and Zeldas had already escaped and nobody really knew this). Deconstructed when this leads to them destroying the Mushroom Kingdom and the heroes Storming the Castle for revenge.
  • Pet the Dog: Esdeath takes the Frost-Frosted Cake from the Broodals in Chapter 17 of Odyssey, after cutting off one of Topper's hands and having her ice phoenix boot the Broodals off their airship. In Chapter 18, she brings the cake back to Shiveria and gently puts the cake back in its original spot.
  • Pokémon Speak: The various Pokémon, with the exceptions of the Legendaries and the Mythicals talk this way like in Pokémon: The Series.
  • Post-Final Boss:
    • The penultimate chapter of the original Galaxy 2 has Giga Bowser (who's sore over his loss) and the real Dustflier confronting the heroes at Gensokyo...and getting curbstomped.
    • Odyssey's final chapter has Sakuya confronting the Emperor and Honest from Akame ga Kill!, showing the Emperor what's really been going on his kingdom thanks to Honest, Sakuya pincushioning Honest with her knives and then Honest getting blown up via a metric ton of explosives.
  • Pragmatic Adaptation:
    • Captain Toad joins the heroes on their quest in 3D World instead of being found in different levels and having his own levels to explore.
    • In Dream Team, instead of all of the gang going down the pipes in Big Massif's Dream World, the Shelltop Referee uses colored paper to randomly assign the gang to different pipes. In addition, the battle against Heavy Zest is changed from beating him in three turns to beating him in three minutes which Sakuya, Dreamy Meiling, Erza, Dreamy Luigi and Happy are able to accomplish in one minute and thirty seconds. Beef Cloud is stated to be enveloped in a colorful aura when he heals himself during his fight. Finally, Sorrow Fist can only be damaged by strong attacks. Big Massif also chooses to fight Dreamy Meiling, Mario, Reimu and Patchouli for his Boss Battle.
    • In Paper Jam, the Koopalings summon special dice blocks to determine who they fight for the heroes given there's four of them (six for the Lemmys, Iggys and Mortons) and way more of the heroes.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Poor Rosalina gets hit with this hard in Revenge of the Shadow Queen Remake and Wrath of Xehanort: Re Mind. She proceeds to wipe the floor with Xemnas and Young Xehanort in the former. In the latter, she was so consumed in anger, she flat out destroys Memory Skyscraper in her battle with Xemnas. It results in Xion having to hug her to calm her down.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • Marisa gives Reimu a very brutal one in Kingdom Battle due to the latter wanting to kill the Kingdom Hearts-verse characters, even though 1. They're helping and 2. The merger thing wasn't even directly their fault (it was caused by Rabbids arriving in the Kingdom Hearts-verse and one of the Rabbids grabbed Elizabeth's headband that could merge things together).
    • Ryuji delivers one towards Seryu in Odyssey:
Skull: SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH, YOU FILTHY WHORE!
Seryu: Wh-what did you call me?!
Skull: You heard me! You think you're the keeper of the peace… you think you know what's right. I get that! But you have allowed this to get into your head and caused you to go off the rails, leaving you to do whatever the hell you want! From what I'm heard from this pink haired girl-
Mine: I have a name, ya know! (gets ignored)
Skull: You murdered one of her friends who belonged to this Night Raid… and you shot her in the back with that damn gun in your mouth?! That's not justice… THAT'S STRAIGHT UP COWARDICE! Only the Phantom Thieves of Heart can bring people to justice! We steal people's hearts to turn their life around… but you… there's no saving you. There's no way in HELL that you'll turn your life around even if we steal your heart! Just looking at you… you look like one of those bitches who will shoot at anyone after one of your comrades defeats them in battle… all for what… justice?! Well, guess what, bitch! You want justice? THEN WE'LL FUCKING GIVE IT TO YOU, YOU BITCH!
Panther: Couldn't have said it better myself!
Noir (smirking and cocking her Loch n Load): You know it!
    • Peach gives one to Bowser after all the things he did in Odyssey.
    • Tatsumi gives one to Esdeath on the moon after slapping her about how he doesn't love her thanks to her stalking and trying to force herself onto him at one point.
  • Retroactive Wish: Happens in Chapter 23 of Odyssey when Akame stumbles out of said ship after it lands on Seryu after Mine thinks to herself that Akame won't just come falling out of the sky. Cue Mine wishing a nicer Esdeath will come help against the Jaegers which doesn't happen.
  • Revenge Before Reason: In Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Reimu became so consumed by anger due to the damage caused unintentionally caused in the end of Dream Team, she came willing to kill the residents of that alternate universe believing this will resolve it. It took Marisa calling her out and not wanting to be friends with her anymore to snap Reimu out of it.
  • Riddle for the Ages:
    • How did the Sabrinaverse characters learn about Kamek insulting them in Dream Team?
    • In Odyssey, Bowser gave his castle a major renovation, making it into a Japanese inspired place. Why he did is never explained.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: On the heroes' side, this includes Peach, Zelda as well as Kai during Rabbids Kingdom Battle. On the villains' side, Bowser, Bowser Jr and King Boo.
  • Rousing Speech: Sora gets one of these from Tracer, Bayonetta, Gloria, Shadow and Patchouli in ReMind when he goes into a Heroic BSoD after most of the heroes are absorbed by the Demon Tide.
  • Rule of Funny: The reason why Mario, Luigi, Natsu and Gray get headaches from getting hit on the head by hammers in Dream Team instead of going into the sand or shrinking down.
  • Running Gag: Several including Lucy summoning Aquarius when she's in the middle of something and Lucy asking how was she supposed to know that or Virgo summoning herself such as in Dream Team when she stores the parts of the Ultibed in the Celestial Realm for the gang.
  • Sculpture: Bea creates a sand one of Esdeath at Bubblaine in Chapter 19 of Odyssey and pummels it into nothing twice.
  • Setting Update: When the four remakes came out, the author updated them with new series from the current times.
  • Scissors Cuts Rock: In Chapter 18 of Odyssey, Natsu goes up against Esdeath to hold her off while everyone else escapes to the Odyssey. Despite his best attempts, she either freezes or No Sells his attacks and surrounds herself in an ice shield when he uses a Lighting Fire Dragon Roar. Esdeath is ultimately able to freeze Natsu except for his head with him being saved when Sakuya arrives and uses her knives to pincushion Esdeath.
  • See You in Hell: Toon Link tells this to Vaati after shooting him through the heart with an arrow in the original Galaxy 2.
  • Sequel Hook: Several stories end with set ups for the next one such as Dream Team which ends with foreshadowing for Paper Jam.
  • Shout-Out:
    • There are multiple references to Super RWBY Sisters such as in Chapter 25 of Odyssey when Marnie is given a pair of Orichalcum Claws thanks to Jade and it's mentioned that it feels like she's reuniting with an old friend and Marnie says it feels like she's worn the claws before and that they were meant for her. Likewise she says she feels like she belongs at Bowser's Castle.
    • When the Koopa Bros introduce themselves in Odyssey, Yellow says they are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with him messing up the intro being a reference to Super Mario Bros. Z.
    • In Chapter 25 of Odyssey, Bea puts on a black and yellow jumpsuit and beats up a bunch of Ninji and does the spanking with a katana scene to the last Ninji while chewing it out (though she picks up the Ninji and slaps it across the face instead of using a katana).
    • In Chapter 26 of Odyssey, there's a parody of Kung Fu Panda called Kung Fu Lakitu (which is also a reference to the Kung Fu Lakitu poster in Mario Kart 8).
    • King DeDeDe and Meta Knight have Southern and Spanish accents respectively like in the dub of Kirby: Right Back at Ya!.
    • In Chapter 29 of Odyssey, Sakuya tells Esdeath "I once knew a man who could freeze time at will and I fought him multiple times. He no longer ''exists''".
    • In Kingdom Battle, Sunny, Luna and Star are working for Maleficent and do a Heel–Face Turn. Sound familiar, Yuna, Rikku and Paine?
    • In Chapter 9 of Dream Team, when Erza says she wants one of everything at a strawberry shortcake shop in Wakeport, the Shelltop shopkeeper sweatdrops and says "...We're gonna need a bigger bag".
    • Chapter 2 of Odyssey has Natsu referencing The Princess and the Frog after Mario Captures a frog and Gajeel claims that that's not how the story goes and Wendy and Carla admit that they wouldn't mind reading it and it does sound interesting.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: At the end of Odyssey, the Emperor is not executed for Honest's crimes and the Emperor is going to rebuild his kingdom with the aid of Night March, the Jaegers, Sakuya, Haru, Demoman and Yukari with the latter promising they can get some extra help.
  • Spit Take: Rex's first reaction when Pyra and Mythra catch the bouquet at the end of Odyssey Chapter 30.
  • Stalker without a Crush: Esdeath constantly stalks the gang after Gray, Juvia, Cirno, Mercy and Mei flee from her due to wanting a rematch with Gray. This includes ambushing the gang after they leave the Ruined Kingdom and having her ice phoenix freeze the Odyssey and later on, ambushing Mario and several others on the Moon after they beat Bowser.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: How Honest bites the dust in Odyssey's final chapter via a ton of explosives.
  • Summon Magic: Lucy's specialty, though Virgo pops out instead of Loke during the battle with Petey Piranha in Partners in Time (apparently, Big Bro was making out with Aries before they got married) and Virgo summons herself multiple times in Dream Team such as to give Mario and Luigi Ultra Hammers (that she purchased with Lucy's money!) and also stores the pieces of the Ultibed in the Celestial Realm.
  • Surprisingly Creepy Moment:
    • Kingdom Battle has Reimu blaming the characters from the Sabrinaverse for the merged universes starting with Chapter 2 and it slowly gets to her until she gets into a brutal fight with Kai and several others such as Takumi and Maria in Chapter 9. Then, Marisa unloads a brutal "The Reason You Suck" Speech on Reimu resulting in the latter having a My God, What Have I Done? moment, claiming to Cirno the gang will be better off without her in Chapter 10. In Chapter 11, Viridi snaps Reimu out of her Heroic BSoD by claiming it would be Reimu's fault if everyone died.
    • Odyssey's first half is light-hearted and wacky but then, at the end of Chapter 16, we see Gray, Juvia, Mercy, Mei and Cirno running away from an "ice-cold" woman. Then, in Chapter 17, the gang arrives in the Snow Kingdom and upon meeting up with the aforementioned group, learn that they were spying on some ships only to run into Esdeath. But, this isn't the heroic one from Super RWBY Sisters, she's the regular one and Mario and the gang learned she killed Gray! Luckily, Mercy revived him but this led to another fight which led to a narrow escape. We then see Esdeath slicing off Topper's paw and when she arrives at the Snow Kingdom with the Frost-Frosted Cake, she traps Bea, Sakuya and Wendy after Sakuya nabs the Multi Moon and reveals her "strong survive and the weak perish" and is able to curb stomp Natsu with only a Big Damn Heroes moment from Sakuya saving him. In the Bubblaine chapter, Esdeath's talk of her philosophy got to Bea to the point Gray has to calm down Bea and the chapter also has Marisa overcoming her hydrophobia to save Reimu from Maw-Rays. Finally, Esdeath suffers a rather brutal death when Gray and Bea impale her, Akame slashes Esdeath with her blade to inflict the sword's curse on her and then Flandre kills Esdeath by squeezing her fist which causes Esdeath's insides to implode.
  • Talking Animal: The various Legendary and Mythical Pokémon such as Calyrex and the Swords of Justice communicate telepathically.
  • Take That!:
    • Chapter 6 of Paper Jam has the Daisies and Samus delivering one of these to Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite's story mode.
    • In the original Wrath of Xehanort story, Pyrrhon comes out of nowhere and easily defeats Kefka, which resulted in a few reviewers being mad at the author for doing an Ass Pull. The author acknowledges this in ReMind where Pyrrhon comes out of nowhere and attempts to fight Xehanort, but everyone attempts to stop him before Pyrrhon ends up getting killed by Xehanort. The latter then mentions he was correcting a mistake from another timeline, AKA the original story. He also says that he wants to find the jester that stole his thunder because he was not supposed to be the final thing the heroes were supposed to fight and Pyrrhon came out of nowhere to fight him so Xehanort decided it would be best to get Pyrrhon out of the picture and claims nothing of value has been lost.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • In Chapter 13 of Galaxy Remastered, Kamek suggests to Bowser that once they "stabilize" the power of the Power and Grand Stars that they stole, they use the power to send out manhunts for Peach and Reimu and declare martial law on the galaxy! Needless to say, the two bumblers never get a chance to "stabilize" their stolen powers and Kamek's grand ambitions are forever unfufilled.
    • In Chapter 25 of Odyssey:
      • Leone is in disbelief of how Akame is freaked out about hearing about how Mario and the gang met, so she decides to ask Mario herself. Needless to say:
Akame: So… how'd it go? (sees smoke coming out of Leone's ears). I can imagine it went well.
Leone: I need… like… several months to fully digest what the hell I just listened to.
      Akame: Told ya.
    • When Cappy asks if Mario and the gang are absolutely sure they know about Bowser's castle, Mario and Marisa state they've been there plenty of times. Then, they and the gang find out from reading the pamphlet that Bowser gave his castle a major renovation.
    • Then, after Marnie slashes through the Koopa Bros when they do their "ultimate attack", Red hits her from behind and states that while she took out Yellow and Black, Red and Green are still standing and asks if she has any last words. Jade then yells "You might want to be aware of your surroundings!" and kicks Red into a wall, shattering his shell and leaving him in his underwear. Youmou then slices Green's shell off, leaving him in his underwear as well! Red and Green then see Gloria and Hop with Zacian and Zamentza at the ready and Gloria states "I suggest you get the fock out of here" and Hop says "What she said" and Red and Green grab Yellow and Black and Red states they'll be back, with new shells.
  • This Is Gonna Suck:
    • F.L.U.D.D's reaction whenever E. Gadd and Nitori decide to do experiments on him, such as using him as the main component for the Hydrogush 4000 in Partners in Time.
    • Kamek's reaction in Dream Team when the Sabrinaverse characters he insulted (along with Yang and Marisa) are going to maul him for his insults.
  • Time Stands Still: Sakuya's main ability and Esdeath also shows off her Mahapdama to freeze Gray, Bea, Akame, Flandre but Sakuya is able to unfreeze time after dealing heavy damage to Esdeath and allow Gray to sneak up on Esdeath and impale her through the abdomen with a massive ice greatsword.
  • Too Dumb to Live: In Dream Team, some Fly Guy R thieves steal the strawberry shortcakes that Ezra bought for a picnic and dispose of them, thinking they're bad, while a hidden Ezra's watching. Needless to say, she uses her Purgatory Armor to send them on a one way trip to the Moon.
  • Troll: Flandre loves freaking people out by using her status as a mentally unstable vampire by saying "Boo".
  • A Twinkle in the Sky: In the final chapter of Dream Team, after Captain Falcon and Yang Megaton Punch Bowser into the sky, Utsuho uses Peta Flare on Bowser resulting in him becoming this.
  • Villains Out Shopping: Kingdom Battle ends with Pete arriving back at Maleficent's castle having been on vacation in Delfino, swimming (judging by his swim ring and swimsuit) and enjoying the juice bar.
  • Wham Episode: Chapter 17 of Dream Team which brings in characters from the author's Sabrinaverse.
  • Wham Line:
    • In Dream Team, Chapter 17, Kamek spends his entire fight with Reimu and Marisa insulting the characters from Nan's Kingdom Hearts-verse and after the two girls finish him off, a portal opens and a very unhappy Samus emerges:
      Reimu: Samus?
Samus: I'm not the Samus from your world.
    • Then in Chapter 19, Dreamy Bowser is just about to finish off Mario and the gang:
when suddenly, a Final Spark slammed into the flames, and causing a huge explosion, and to his shock, they were all still in one piece. "What…?! HOW?!"
"You know something…" A familiar voice said. "I don't take kindly to those who try to take down my universal counterpart."
Marisa's eyes widened as she saw her other counterpart walking towards them.
  • Wedding Smashers: Occurs during Chapters 28 and 29 of Odyssey when Mario and the gang crash Peach's forced, attempted marriage to Bowser naturally leading to a lot of fights. The latter chapter has Tatsumi revealing that the Jaegers showed up and made things even more chaotic, prompting him to slip away and go to where Mario and the others were.
  • Wham Shot: Chapter 27 of Odyssey ends with the gang getting aboard the Odyssey and heading to the moon to save Peach, but Esdeath shoots a tracker onto the ship, promising the gang won't be alone on the moon for too much longer.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?:
    • Jr. Troopa and Metal Mario make cameos in Chapter 21 of the original Galaxy 2 and end up going up against Marisa and Tewi respectively. It's never said what happened to them, but considering the fate of the others, they most likely lost the battles and their lives.
    • Captains Goomba, Shy Guy, Boo and Koopa Troopa are nowhere to be seen in Odyssey.
    • In Dream Team, much like the original game, it's never stated what happened to the Dream Stone Spirit after Peach and Starlow destroy the Dream Stone to stop Bowser and then after the Zeekeeper gathers the Dream Stone's dust, turns it into a giant Dream Coin and then flies through it, smashing it into bunches of regular coins.
  • Wacky Racing: The plot of the cancelled spin-off, Touhou Kart 8.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Marisa delivers a brutal one towards Reimu for the latter's Revenge Before Reason against the Kingdom Hearts-verse characters in Kingdom Battle.
    • A comedic example on Odyssey when Natsu is chewed out by most of the heroes for ruining the New Donk City Festival by attacking and knocking out Donkey Kong even though DK kidnapping Pauline was All Part of the Show which includes Gloria and Demoman launching into an unintelligible Scottish rant and the Mario Bros. cussing out Natsu in Italian. The only exception is Cappy who sits it out as yelling's not really his style.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: Wrath of Xehanort: ReMind ends with showing what the heroes are up to after the events of the previous stories such as Gloria and Leon having their Championship battle.
  • The Worf Effect: In Chapter 25 of Odyssey, Marnie's Scrafty, Liepard, Toxicroak, Morpeko and Grimmsnarl are easily beaten by the Koopa Bros, but Marnie easily returns the favor after getting the Orichalchum Claws, followed by Marnie slashing through the Koopa Bros when they do their ultimate attacks and knocking out Yellow and Black...and then Red and Green getting ambushed and beaten by Jade and Youmou after sneak attacking Marnie and the Koopa Bros flee after getting confronted by Gloria and Hop who have Zacian and Zamazenta at the ready.
  • Writer's Block: The author gets hit with this hard when writing Touhou Odyssey. It happened at least a few times!
