Three Wrights and a Justice
is an Ace Attorney fanfiction based on the events of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. Its main premise is that Iris didn't vanish after Trials and Tribulations, and instead became a mainstay.
This fanfic contains examples of:
- Adaptational Badass: Apparently, Apollo's perceiving powers don't detect just lies. When Iris questions him about staring at her stomach, he claims he has a feeling that there's someone else with them. Sure enough, Iris is expecting.
- Adaptational Personality Change:
Word of God is that Alita Tiala would receive this, as well as a change in her motive for murdering Pal Meraktis. So far, Chapter 5 implies she's an Adaptational Nice Girl. - Adaptation Expansion: Should be expected; after all, this fanfic implements Iris in the events of Apollo Justice.
- Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Ema Skye met Trucy much earlier than in canon (before the events of Turnabout Trump), making it easier for her to warm up to Apollo.
- Babies Ever After: Chapter 4 reveals that Iris is expecting.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Iris is a sweetheart, but if you enrage her, she is able of pulling a Death Glare similar to that of her late Evil Twin Dahlia.Apollo: "Mr. Wright... remind me never to piss of your wife. I don't want to imagine what she would do to me if I did."
- Canon Foreigner: Bethany Tiala, Alita's late grandmother.
- Character Title: In a sense; the three Wrights are Phoenix, Trucy and Iris, and the Justice is Apollo. It's also a pun (three rights and a justice).
- Another interpretation is that the "Three Wrights and [one] Justice" are Trucy's family: the three Wrights being Phoenix, Iris and their unborn child, who are Trucy's adoptive famiky, and the Justice is Apollo, who is Trucy's half-brother.
- Creepy Good: In-universe, Iris is this; she's as much of a sweetheart as we know, but she can be scary sometimes, as Apollo and Alita found out.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Played with; according to Apollo, Iris appeared briefly in the fic's version of Turnabout Trump, which wasn't written. Iris's role in Turnabout Trump was to beg Apollo to do everything he could to defend Phoenix. And until meeting her at the beginning of the fic, he didn't connect the dots.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: We know what Iris has been through during Trials and Tribulations, so the fact she married Phoenix is this for her, even if Phoenix got disbarred before the wedding. For Phoenix, it may count more as a Throw the Dog a Bone.
- Family Business: The Wright Talent Agency is now stated to be this. Apollo coming in doesn't change this fact, since, while he doesn't know, he's Trucy's half-brother.
- Fix Fic: Iris is commonly considered an
underused character. This fic fixes this flaw. - Foreshadowing: This line from Apollo when Iris threatens to ask the spirit of someone who died at Hickfields if Phoenix snuck in grape juice was likely written with Lamiroir/Thalassa in mind:
- Happily Adopted: Trucy is this even moreso than in canon, due to her now having a Mommy, which she commonly asks for in canon.
- Happily Married: Phoenix and Iris are this despite their financial status (caused by Phoenix getting disbarred), though Iris does sometimes get upset when Phoenix lies to Trucy. Despite this, they're still a loving couple and doting parents to Trucy.
- Late-Arrival Spoiler: Since Iris's existence and the Twin Switch she was involved into is considered to be a spoiler for Trials And Tribulations, they become this in this fic.
- Posthumous Character: Bethany Tiala. She died as a result of one of Pal Meraktis's botched operations. She appears in the fic as a spirit, during Iris's own side investigation.
- Shipper on Deck: Ema appears to be this for Apollo and Trucy, much to Apollo's chagrin. She's gonna be in quite a shock.
- Small Role, Big Impact: The fact Iris knows about Bethany Tiala gives Alita an entirely different motive for murdering Pal Meraktis. The reveal that Meraktis botched up an operation on Bethany implies Alita was out for revenge. Too bad for the Kitakis that they were caught up in this, what with Wocky's own botched operation.
- Surprise Incest: Well, Surprise Incest Yay Shipping, but still. At one point in Chapter 4, Ema asks Trucy if Apollo is her boyfriend. Given what we know about Apollo and Trucy's origins, Ema's going to be in quite a shock when Thalassa will recover her memories.
- Took a Level in Badass: Between her arrest and the beginning of the fic, Iris became able to talk to spirits.
- That Came Out Wrong: Aside from the scene in the hospital when Apollo calls Trucy big, and then immediately said he didn't mean to call her fat, there's the scene where Iris reveals she's pregnant; Iris noticed Apollo staring at her stomach, and when she asks him, he states that he feels someone else was with them. Guess Apollo's perceiving powers don't detect only lies...
- You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Apollo's reaction when Ema asked Trucy if Apollo was Trucy's boyfriend. Justified since, while the three don't know it, Trucy is Apollo's half-sister.
