There's Always More is a Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons Recursive Fanfiction made by AlicevsWonderland set in a Hogwarts AU scenario.

When Hiccups secret of being the first to train a dragon is revealed, he struggles to handle his new popularity among the other students. Jack decides not to bother him like many of the others, even though he is also curious about the whole story. This fanfiction series contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Sexuality: Hiccup is never portrayed as being interested in men in-canon, instead crushing on and pursuing a relationship with Astrid. Here, it is mentioned that he knew he was bisexual since he was young, and when he realizes his feelings for Jack, he turns down Astrid's offer to pursue a relationship. Jack's sexuality is never given in-canon, but here he is bisexual.
  • Adaptation Species Change: Tends to happen under Hogwarts AU.
    • In-canon, Mavis Dracula and her family are vampires and monsters. Here though, she simply comes from an old, human-wizard family. Jack still likes to call her "vampire" though for the lulz.
    • Additionally, the Guardians from Rise of the Guardians are all spirits of varying origins, including humans, a half harpy-like woman, a pooka and a space-alien made of sand. Here though, North and Tooth are muggle-humans while Jack, Sandy and Bunny are wizard-humans
  • All the Good Men Are Gay: Jack and Hiccup are considered to be two of the most desirable students in Hogwarts. This really creates a lot of gossip when they openly date, from girls who want them to date to love potion poisoning.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Mavis in Chapter 23.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Hiccup issues an outright death threat when he figures out who jinxed the Bludger that nearly killed Jack and this is after only knowing the Gryffindor mere weeks.
    • Rapunzel is scary when you mess with her friends. Mavis too.
  • Big Brother Instinct/ Big Sister Instinct: The core friendship groups (Jack, Flynn, Mavis and Merida and Hiccup, Fishlegs and Rapunzel) are fiercely protective of their members and when they join together, this protection crosses over both ways.
    • Astrid is very firm that Jack had better not hurt Hiccup or she'll make him regret it.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Andrew, Thomas and Peter torture Hiccup when they manage to get him alone, having been promised a reward from enemy tribes. Andrew and Thomas only want to ruff him up to "put him in his place", but Peter shows his true colors when he uses the cruciatus curse on him before he intends to kill him.
  • Coming-Out Story: Hiccup and Jack reveals their relationship to all of Hogwarts in Chapter 21 to mixed opinions. They again reveal their relationship to Hiccup's tribe as a show of trust to his people on the day he becomes chief in Chapter 25. This is almost a mistake, given the tribe's more bigoted opinions of LGBT people, but Astrid and Fishlegs were able to point out that his orientation does not matter, causing the tribe to ponder whether or not they should fuss about it.
    • Gobber admits his own sexual orientation to Hiccup as a show of comfort, admitting that while his reaction was not good at first, Stoick eventually realized that it did not matter and went on to be his friend for the rest of his life.
  • Conveniently an Orphan: Jack and Emma's backstory says that their real parents died trying to save them from falling into the frozen lake.
  • Death by Adaptation: Ruffnut and Tuffnut in Chapter 23.
  • Double Standard: Unwanted Physical Contact Female On Male: Smashed to pieces. When a girl who has a thing for Hiccup tries to break him and Jack up by planting a Forceful Kiss on Jack to make Hiccup think Jack was cheating on him, Jack and Hiccup are both outraged, especially when she calls it "just a prank". Jack points out that if their positions were reversed, she'd be raving about him being a pervert and how she wants him expelled and Hiccup gives her a "Reason You Suck" Speech where he drops An Aesop that regardless of gender, everyone should have the right to say "I don't want to be touched without permission." and ignoring this right is horrible. Hiccup and Jack's friends are furious at the girl and her friends, one of whom was in on the kiss due to her desiring to hook up with Jack, (Merida in particular wanted to strangle them) and the girls find their reputations trashed beyond repair. The narration even follows the scene where Jack is forcibly kissed with him complaining, in genuine discomfort, that he can still feel the girl's lips on his with the narration completely on his side.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: When everyone hears about his battle with the Red Death, everyone wants to get to know Hiccup better. Women want to date him, men (at least those who don't bully him) want to be his friend. ''Especially'' Jack.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: The Barbaric Archipelago is described as like being in a "time-warp", the viking culture having survived there since history declared it long gone. Hiccup and Fishlegs only know about modern things (like Google and Star Wars) thanks to their friend Rapunzel.
  • Fighting Your Friend: Differs within context.
    • Merida and Flynn are prone to argue, but it comes across as more playful banter if anything else.
    • Hiccup and Fishlegs are prone to fight each other with swords as general battle-practice expected from vikings.
    • Hiccup and Jack legitimately get into an argument when Jack discovers by accident that Hiccup is in fact the son of their village chief.
  • Gayngst: Jack nearly breaks down emotionally when he sees Astrid kissing Hiccup, finding out that his feelings for the viking are more than just friendly. Hiccup realizes that he has the same feelings on his own, but both of them refuse to say anything to the other for fear of losing their friendship. It is not until Jack kisses Hiccup when their friendship nearly crumbles that they realize that they were both being stupid about it.
  • Gay Aesop: Gobber tells Hiccup about the time when he told Stoick about the time he confessed to Stoick that he was gay. Stoick tried avoiding him, even antagonizing him before ultimately realizing that it did not matter, repairing their friendship in the process.
    • The people of Berk go through this when Hiccup confesses to them about his relationship with Jack, their opinions ultimately mixed with Astrid and Fishlegs berating them over their callous dismissal of him despite all he has done for the village.
  • Hero of Another Story: In passing mention, an altered version of the events of Hotel Transylvania occurring over winter-break where Mavis meets a muggle Jonathan and pursue a relationship.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Despite the events of the first How to Train Your Dragon happening with everyone knowing about it, people flocking to him, women wanting him, men wanting to be him... Hiccup is still just Hiccup, scared and confused by his sudden popularity.
  • Human-Focused Adaptation: Tooth, Bunny, Mavis and other sentient, inhuman characters are portrayed as human.
  • Inside Job: Assassination attempts made on Hiccup's life were all made possible by Hiccup's favorite teacher Professor Cooke.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Peter basically blackmails the Ministry into giving him a lighter sentence, including human contact; he ends up with deaf cell-mates since he didn't specify that he wanted to be able to communicate with his human contact.
  • Like Brother and Sister: Hiccup and Fishlegs with Rapunzel; Hiccup also ultimately has this with Astrid. Jack and Flynn with Mavis and Merida.
  • Muggles: North, Anna/Tooth and Johnny.
  • Official Couple: Rapunzel and Eugene, Mavis and Jonathan, Hiccup and Jack.
  • Sadly Mythtaken: One of the first things Hiccup looked up when Rapunzel brought him to the muggle world was how his culture is remembered, remarking how wildly inaccurate the Marvel interpretation of Thor is.
  • The Wise Prince: As expected, Hiccup has a strong sense of diplomacy when it comes to both his friends and matters that involve his village. Not only did he make peace between his tribe and the dragons, but he was also able to influence policies regarding relations between the Ministry of Magic and the Barbaric Archipelago as a whole. This has made him a target by enemy tribes at well as the assassins they send.
