The more things change, the more they stay the same. The fact that 'Princess' Riliane was the head of the Lucifenian mafia wasn't the strangest thing.
The summary.

the yellow rose is an Evillious Chronicles fanfic made byHeartOfInk and silencvial. It centers around Allen Avadonia, the servant and brother of Riliane Lucifen d'Autriche, the heiress of the Lucifenian mafia known as Yellow Rose. While it starts introducing the crumbling criminal empires and the twin assassins Ney Phutapie and Lemy Abelard, the plot slowly thickens with a present from Prim Marlon to Riliane: a hand mirror that supposedly is part of the Lost Mirror of Lucifenia.

the yellow rose provides examples of:

  • The Alcoholic: Germaine, even though she hates the taste of alcohol. It's hinted that she became this after Allen disappeared.
  • all lowercase letters: The titles of each chapter and story itself, as well as its prequel story, are stylized this way.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: The Lucifen and the Salmhofer/Moonlit twins have particularly dark and messy pasts, with abandonment, murder (one implied and the other, an accidental poisoning.) and arduous training to become assassins.
  • I Have Many Names: Besides Allen, he is also known as Alexiel (his birth name) and Kokutan-douji. As the story is still in the beginning, he might have more.
  • Ironic Echo: Considering Allen's fate in canon, it's quite ironic for him to say that he would "give the [Lucifen] House his head himself" for not knowing the customs.
  • Shout-Out: Kyle's ringtone in chapter 4 is "Otome Kaibou" (Girl Dissection), a song by DECO*27.
  • Trauma Button: After his father's poisoning, watching people drink wine and dying in a party. in chapter 4 triggered Allen, to the point of having hallucinations.
“My brother had the same,” said Ney. “It didn’t pan out well.”
“Hansel? Truly?”
“No, the real son of the woman I’m supposed to be a daughter of,”
said Ney. “He’s a very kind man at heart; of the dense sort, but kind. He wanted to be a painter. Mum gave him a mirror as a present for being a good son, one that looked exactly like this, and he… changed.”
