The Legend of the Sergeant is a crossover between Halo and Star Wars on Wattpad by carpboy009

After his death in the events of Halo 3, Sergeant Avery Johnson wakes up on Mygeeto as the Republic is driving the Separatists off the planet. After aiding Republic forces in defeating the Separatist forces on Mygeeto, he joins up with the Republic Army and proceeds to become a legendary figure in the galaxy of Star Wars with his exploits.

The Legend of the Sergeant provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Grievous, thanks to the author choosing to go with his Legends version.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Grievous is much closer to his Legends counterpart in that he's a Noble Demon possessing a sense of honor and being able to extend his respect to those who earn it.
  • A Father to His Men: Johnson wouldn't be Johnson without this trait, which enables him to foster Undying Loyalty among the clone troopers under his command.
  • Another Story for Another Time: Much like And the Giant Awoke, the story mentions events that happen on a galactic scale later down the line as a result of Johnson's actions.
  • Badass Normal: By Star Wars standards, Johnson is this, being able to take on opponents with nothing but his own strength and ingenuity.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Johnson has this by default if you are familiar with the original Halo trilogy.
    • The same can be said for Grievous, given what he went through before he joined the Separatists in Legends.
  • Canon Welding: Elements of mainline Star Wars canon are fused with elements from the Legends continuity.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Thanks to Johnson's Positive Friend Influence, the clone troopers are able to resist and even defy Order 66 when Palpantine issues it, averting the massacre of the Jedi.
  • Kinetic Weapons Are Just Better: All of Johnson's UNSC weapons can punch through energy shielding with ease and even allow him to counter lightsaber users by forcing them to deal with the molten remnants of the bullets that their sabers melt.
  • Made a Slave: Johnson ends up enslaved by Zygerrians after he is defeated and captured by Count Dooku.
  • Rousing Speech: Johnson is a master at giving these to rally his troops and boost their morale, giving several of these to his men whenever the situation seems stacked against them.
  • Training from Hell: The clones under Johnson's command are put through training even more intense than what they are accustomed to to sharpen their combat skills beyond what can be thought possible for them Orbital Drop Shock Troopers.
  • Undying Loyalty: Johnson treats his men like family, and the soldiers under his command reciprocate that with the unshakeable trust they have in him to the point that they can resist genetic instincts coded into them, as shown when they don't shoot General Grievous on Johnson's orders when he talks with him.
  • Villain Respect: Grievous gains respect for Johnson after their conversation, declaring him more interesting than the Jedi and other Republic officials he's dealt with.
  • Wham Episode: 343 Guilty Spark is revealed to have ended up in the world of Star Wars during Savage Oppress' search for Maul.
