Go To

The Ghosts of Our Fathers is a Five Nights at Freddy's fanfic series written by FanaticA0397 based off of Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes, ignoring the canonical sequels in an effort to tell a more cohesive and Truer to the Text adaptation of the first three games while ignoring everything almost everything after 4 and telling its own original narrative set in the novel's universe.

Fics in the series include:

  • Moving Forward: A one-shot set shortly after The Silver Eyes that focuses where Charlie and John's first date is derailed when the two have to help clear out Charlie's childhood home.
  • The Restless Souls: A year after the events of The Silver Eyes, Charlie and John move across the country to try and escape the shadow of Freddy's, while Carlton is haunted by Michael's spirit and his broken relationship with his father. But when Rick Taylor (Phone Guy) decides to open a new Freddy's in Charlie and John's new town, he inadvertently awakens the spirits once more, including two with grudges against Charlie.

Tropes included in this series include:

  • Abuse Mistake: Arty becomes convinced that John is hurting Charlie when he witnesses the scar on her arm that Foxy gave her back in The Silver Eyes.
  • Adapted Out: Despite being a straightforward adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy's 2, Balloon Boy is nowhere to be found amongst the main roster at the new Freddy Fazbear's.
    • According to *Word of God, neither the Funtime Animatronics nor the Twisted Animatronics exists in this universe either.
  • Adaptational Name Change: Charlie (and by extension, Henry and Jen)'s last name is changed from "Emily" to "Baker", with "Emily" being made her middle name.
    • The name of the FNAF 2 inspired Pizzeria is Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria and Entertainment Center.
    • Because of his more limited intelligence when compared to most versions of the character, Springtrap has yet to assume his canonical name and is only ever referred to as "The Yellow Rabbit" in the narration.
  • Asshole Victim: Arty gets his neck snapped when Springtrap throws him off of a staircase.
  • Benevolent Boss: Jeremy Fitzgerald proves to be this when things with Arty begin to get out of hand.
  • Big Bad: As per the norm with Five Nights at Freddy's, Springtrap continues the be the overarching villain.
  • Death by Adaptation: According to Word of God, William Afton is truly dead, and Springtrap is its own entity.
    • Arty is killed after he manages to anger Springtrap.
    • Because Charlie is still alive and human, her brother Sammy retains his status as William's first victim.
  • The Dreaded: What Dave Miller/William Afton/"The Yellow Rabbit" and the original animatronics have become to Charlie and her friends after the events of the original book.
  • Human-Focused Adaptation: Continues this trend from the original novel, though the animatronics do play a much larger role in getting the plot rolling than they did previously.
  • Fix Fic: To the FNAF books.
  • Mythology Gag: Rick says his game counterpart's catchphrase of "Hello, hello!" while testing the microphone at the opening of the new Freddy's.
    • In Chapter 19, Charlie is given a green wristband upon entering the new Freddy's. In a nod to the Security Puppet's minigame in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator
    • When the New Foxy, based on The Mangle animatronic from 2 finally appears, it's in a half-completed state.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Phone Guy is now named by Rick Taylor.
    • John is given the last name "Barnett".
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Because the story is set to ignore The Fourth Closet's big twist, Charlie is still a human and not an example of Ridiculously Human Robots.
    • Due to the Funtime Animatronics not existing in this universe, Millie is unable to climb inside of Funtime Freddy's belly like her canon counterpart.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Arty was a bit of a nuisance in the books, but here the author has taken his creepy behavior and cranked it up to eleven.
