Go To

The Ghostly Leaguer is a crossover story set In a World… where Danny Phantom becomes one of the founding members of the Justice League a few months after the portal incident. Although it starts mainly following The Stations of the Canon for both shows with only minor differences due to characters and story elements from the other setting, more unique plot points begin to unfold as the story progresses.

The Ghostly Leaguer provides examples of:

  • Boxing Lessons for Superman: After they learn each other's identities, Batman takes up the role of being a mentor for Danny in order to help him polish his skills.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: When Doctor Destiny expresses annoyance that Danny doesn't remember him despite having punched the former in the face, Danny notes that he punches a lot of people in the face.
  • The Immune: Danny's ghostly biology renders him immune to Aresia's virus that affected male humans, Kryptonians, and Martians. His blood is even the basis for the cure.
  • Instant Expert: When the Joker becomes half-ghost, he displays little-to-no learning curve with his powers, like when he tries duplicating on a whim and gets it on his first try after seeing Vlad do it (Danny getting annoyed when he does it again later, since he's been trying to get the hang of that power for months), much to the surprise of the other halfas, with Danny saying that it's like some people were born for it.
  • Logical Weakness: When Amazo appears, Danny realizes that while the android can copy powers, he still needs to see the target to do so, so he is able to help Superman and Batman get the upper hand by turning them invisible.
  • Running Gag: Danny mocking the Flash's bad luck with girls.
  • Shout-Out:
    • When Danny fights Tsukiri he makes several Naruto references.
    • When Danny meets Hades, he expected him to have blue skin, fiery hair and a forked tongue. Sound familiar?
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Although the Joker only has his powers for a single chapter, his actions as "Joker Specter" puts Batman solidly onto the trail of Danny and Vlad's identities and gets other villains like Bane interested in the possibility of gaining ghost powers themselves.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: With Danny's help, and Rick's presence, J'onn is able to save Dee's ex-wife Penny.
    • Thanks to Danny's presence, King Gustav isn't poisoned and rendered a vegetable.
  • The Stations of the Canon: The fic starts out mainly rehashing Justice League or Danny Phantom episodes with minor differences due to the presence of characters from the other franchise, but as time goes on there are more drastic divergences, and more completely original chapters like the Joker gaining ghost powers, or J'onn learning of other surviving Martians and rescuing them from the Invaders.
  • Takes One to Kill One: J'onn is able to attack intangible ghosts using his own intangibility.
  • Too Powerful to Live: The Joker gets a De-power at the end of "Joker Specter", essentially "killing" his ghost half, as his near-instantaneous skill with his powers combined with his insanity makes him a threat greater than any villain seen up to that point.
  • Villain Takes an Interest:
    • Upon meeting Danny for the first time, Darkseid is intrigued by him and his abilities, believing that he has a connection to the Anti-Life Equation.
    • Brainiac also desires to study Danny, having never seen anything like his powers before.
    • After learning what happened with the Joker, Bane tries to get ghost powers himself by going after the Fentons to steal the Fenton Portal blueprints.
  • Wham Episode:
    • "Joker Specter". While the Joker loses his powers at the end, he still knows Vlad's identity, it puts Batman solidly on the path to finding out Danny and Vlad's identities as well, the world (or at least the villain community) starts to realize that humans can get ghost powers, and the device that can De-power halfas is still out there.
    • J'onn is signaled by other surviving Martians enslaved by the Imperium, including M'gann, and Danny tags along to help.
    • Darkseid believes that Danny has a connection to Anti-Life, and Danny rescues Starfire from Brainiac's ship before it blows.
    • "The Knights of Gotham": The Fentons officially enter into a partnership with Bruce Wayne, Bane attacks the meeting hoping to get the blueprints for the Ghost Portal so he can create a halfa army, and Batman and Danny properly learn the other's identity.
  • What the Hell Are You?: When Danny is fighting Hades, he's baffled since he can tell that Danny is alive despite smelling like the dead, and asks him what he is, since not even the gods can do that. He responds by saying that he's a Phantom and blasting the god.
  • Xanatos Gambit: When Wonder Woman is clued into Vandal's plot thanks to Batman and Danny and heads to Kaznia to warn Audrey, Vandal's me intercept her and use the element of surprise to capture her. As a result, Vandal decides to just take over the country using his Kill Sat outright now that his original plan's been exposed.
