The Awesome Spider-Dash is a three-part My Little Pony: Equestria Girls/Spider-Man crossover fanfic written by Flufux
, starring a human Rainbow Dash in the role as the web-slinging superhero.
The story is split into three parts (or seasons), though only the first one The Awesome Spider-Dash, Origins has been released thus far... and it's also not finished yet. It shows the story of how Rainbow Dash became the Awesome Spider-Girl in the first place and how she ended up battling her new nemesis, the Nightmare Goblin.
The Awesome Spider-Dash, Origins provides examples of:
- Abusive Parents: Gilda's parents are definitively not good people, given that her mother is stated to be a raging alcoholic while her father straight up kicked her out of her home once he found out about her sexuality. Additionally, Sunset Shimmer mentioned that her parents argue with each other quite a lot and that it's been taking a toll on her, possibly leading to her becoming a bully in the past.
- Adaptational Badass: While the canon Abacus Cinch from the Equestria Girls series is squarely in the Non-Action Big Bad category, here, due to being a Composite Character with the Spider-Man villain Tombstone, she has bullet-proof skin and superhuman strength.
- Alternate Universe Fic: Considering that it's a MLP/Spider-Man crossover, this is a given. However, it is not explicitly stated to be in either of their respective universes, and is instead set in a world slightly similar to the Equestria Girls universe... though with realistic skin-tones and no connection to the plots of those movies.
- Big Bad: Though she doesn't get involved in the story until a couple chapters in, the Nightmare Goblin (Luna's Superpowered Evil Side) is the one causing most of the problems in the second half of the story.
- Composite Character: Pretty much the whole cast with only a few exceptions, with most MLP characters taking on the role of a Spider-Man character. Some examples include Rainbow Dash taking on the Spider-Man (Spider-Girl) role from Peter Parker, while Twilight Sparkle and Shining Armor are taking on the roles of Gwen Stacy and Captain George Stacy respectively. Luna has the role of Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, Starlight Glimmer is Doctor Octopus, Rarity is Black Cat, Spike briefly becomes the Lizard, and Sunset Shimmer is set to eventually become Venom.
- The Dragon: Abacus "Tombstone" Cinch seems to be the right-hand woman of the so far unseen Kingpin of Crime.
- Evil Laugh: the Nightmare Goblin is very fond of doing these. Though given that she's a Composite Character of Green Goblin and Nightmare Moon, that really isn't surprising.
- Evil vs. Evil: During the "Nightmare Under the Moon" minisode, minor supervillain the Shocker ends up in a fight with the Nightmare Goblin and only narrowly survives the encounter.
- Face–Monster Turn: Spike is a perfectly innocent teenage boy...but after being exposed to an unstable genetic formula, he transforms into a hyper-aggressive lizard-monster who goes on a rampage.
- Greater-Scope Villain: While he hasn't shown up in person yet, a character known as Rex Storm, confirmed to be this story's version of the Kingpin, has been causing a lot of trouble in the background. Most notably trying to run the Apple family out of business and being Tombstone's direct superior. The actual big bad of the story, the Nightmare Goblin, also seems to have some kind of beef with him, and one of her stated goals is to eventually overthrow him.
- Lesbian Jock: Rainbow Dash... who's the leader of a soccer team and has a crush on Fluttershy. Also Gilda, Rainbow's ex, qualifies as well.
- The Mole: The overly eccentric Celestiacorp scientist Doctor Silk Mane... who is actually Chrysalis in disguise, and in league with the Big Bad.
- Obviously Evil: It won't take long for readers to guess that Dr Silk Mane is up to something... though the fact that she's actually Chrysalis might be a bit harder to guess.
- Single-Target Sexuality: At one point in the story, Twilight decides that she is "Sunsetsexual".
- Slash Fic: Though the fanfic is mostly a superhero story, it also focuses quite a lot on the building relationship between Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy...as well as Twilight's crush on Sunset Shimmer.
- The Sociopath: Dr Silk Mane (or rather, Chrysalis) seems to be one, as she is stated to not be able to understand that her employees aren't lifeless machines...and then there's the fact that she was perfectly willing to try to poison Twilight Sparkle (a teenager no less) with a formula that would have turned her into a feral lizard-monster.
- Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: The alliance between the Nightmare Goblin and Dr Silk Mane/Chrysalis is anything but solid, as it's abundantly clear that they don't like each other one bit and even plan to stab the other in the back once their plan is finished.
