Super Readers' Biggest Adventure is a Super Why! fanfic written by Iheartgod175. Based loosely on several stories she had written beforehand, it is her first fanfic and her first "real" Super Why! fanfic, as she considers her other stories to be an Old Shame. The story has twenty chapters, and is a minor Door Stopper, stopping at a little over 120,000 words. The epilogue serves as the Sequel Hook.

A typical day in Storybrook Village takes a turn for the strange when a princess named Muse and her dog, Woofster, fall from the sky and crash land in the village. Not long after that, the parents of the fairytale children are possessed by a strange power and start to attack their kids and fellow neighbors. The Super Readers, whose own families are possessed, decides that the answers to their questions lie with Muse, the princess from Major Land, who is currently recovering from her injuries.

The answer they receive is shocking. Muse and Woofster arrived after fighting a battle with the Evil Reader, a boy who appears to be a dark Super Reader and is bent on taking over the entire Fairytale world with two artifacts: the Sword of Sealing, and the Readers' Amulet, both of which will give him the power to become a Physical God and cause the end of the world. Since he already destroyed a whole bunch of fairytales, including Muse's and Woofster's own, the princess and the dog attempted to keep him from getting the Sword. They failed, and the Evil Reader forges it with his sword, Shadowdoom, to create a new one, called Doombringer, and Muse and Woofster barely escaped before the Evil Reader could kill them. She asks the Super Readers for help, and they agree. Not long after that, the Evil Reader bursts into the kids classroom, declaring the world to be his. Realizing that the best way to stop him is to free everyone else, the Super Readers and Woofster take off, hurtling through various stories, fighting monsters and unlocking their true potentials, and getting cool power upgrades.

And if you thought things couldn't get more chaotic, they can...

This is an Alternate Universe Fic/Dark Fic with many shout outs to the original series and has its own Myth Arc, which will be solved in the sequel. It also has some Ship Tease between Red and Whyatt, although it decreases near the end of the story.

This story contains examples of:

• Abusive Parents: Woofster's father is revealed to be this in Chapter 16, when Woofster is confronted with visions from his past; he even says that he doesn't have a son in front of his son's face. Jackson Flatts also had an abusive dad, due to his mother's Death by Childbirth.
• Adaptational Badass: No, really. Compare the show's Super Readers, where they don't even fight against their enemies and for the most part either talk to the villains to join their side or run away if things get dangerous, to this story's Super Readers, who receive power upgrades and proceed to kick the butts of most of the story's baddies. Special mentions go to Alpha Pig and Wonder Red, both of whom went up a couple of levels. But as of Chapter 20, Super Why has one upped them. In the Gaiden series, the Super Readers (mostly Woofster) are starting to train with their powers.
• And the Adventure Continues
• Alternate Universe Fic: Woofster's origins here are completely different from that of the television series. Here, he arrives in Storybrook Village after the disastrous battle with the Evil Reader, not to mention the fact that his story was destroyed and he was trying to stop the Evil Reader from destroying everything. Plus, there are also a lot of fantasy elements that are not present in Super Why in this story.
• And I Must Scream: Jackson Flatts, after suffering a My God, What Have I Done? moment, is taken out of his body by Chaos and is sent to an alternate dimension as a ghost where he is constantly tortured, all the while Chaos goes around making him look utterly despicable as a sadistic Hero Killer. Goodness.
• Anti-Hero: Before he turned into the Evil Reader, Jackson was this: arrogant, hot-tempered and prideful, but he did have a definite heroic spirit in him.
• Anti-Villain: Lexicon, of the Noble Demon variety.
• Badass Adorable: All of the Super Readers, but Woofster even more so. He's a sweet, somewhat awkward puppy with a big vocabulary, and he can also electrocute you to death.
• Badass Bookworm: Again, Woofster.
• Bad Future: Chaos shows Whyatt a vision of the future during their fight, in which all of the Super Readers, Lexicon and Muse were killed, Storybrook Village (not to mention the rest of the fairytale world) is in ruins, and Jackson, who is the only surviving Super Reader, gets killed by Chaos.
• Berserk Button: Don't threaten the lives of the Super Readers' parents, especially Pig's dad. He was the first to receive his Mid-Season Upgrade for a reason.
  • It's also unwise to insinuate that you are more powerful than the Evil Reader. You're going to be in for a major beatdown.
  • As the High Cleric of Major Land learned, don't kill anybody Lexicon loves, or else he will kill you.
  • Never harm Red's friends in front of her. Best scenario: she simply punches you in the face. Worst case: anger her enough and she'll become The Berserker, as seen below.
• The Berserker: Wonder Red's Mid-Season Upgrade also came with a form aptly named the Berserker Mode. In this form, she's covered by a supernatural red aura, her eyes go red, and her strength is enhanced, allowing her to take down foes such as the Evil Reader. However, its strength is limited by the power that the user has, and Jeremiah states that their lifespans can be shortened if they keep using it.
  • The Evil Reader himself has this mode, though it was barely effective because of his power level being used up, resulting in him being curb-stomped by Wonder Red.
• Beware the Nice Ones: All of the Super Readers, but especially Alpha Pig. He's still somewhat of a Cowardly Lion here, but if you refer to his dad as a slave, he will tell you that you're wrong and demolish your army with his new purification attack.
• Big Bad: The Evil Reader.
• Big Damn Heroes:
  • Middle Pig attempts to save Muse from almost getting burned by running out with a baseball bat. Needless to say, it didn't work.
  • Muse's attempt to free the possessed Princess Presto is stopped by her father, who almost performs a Heroic Sacrifice.
  • Chaos has an epic Oh, Crap! moment when Jeremiah, the most powerful superhero of all time, shows up to make a house call.
  • And during the fight between Super Why and Chaos, the Super Readers save his life by unleashing several attacks all at once.
• Big Good: Jeremiah.
• Blood Knight: Chaos, aka The Evil Reader. Jackson himself was this before he turned into the Evil Reader.
• Break the Cutie: This happens to the Super Readers in the first few chapters, due to their families falling under Demonic Possession. They get better as the story progresses.
• Calling Your Attacks: Everyone in the story does this at some point in the story.
• Cannot Spit It Out: Red's dilemma about her crush on Whyatt. She does eventually, though, at the end of the story.
• Canon Discontinuity: This fanfic disregards the episode "Woofster Finds A Home", the episode where Woofster was introduced, due to Woofster's backstory in this story.
  • Another episode the universe disregards is The Story of the Super Readers, due to the origin of the Super Readers in Darkness Rewrite
• Cast from Hit Points: The Berserker Mode, while it gives its user tremendous strength, can shorten their lifespan severely.
• Combat Pragmatist: The Evil Reader never fights fair, and that is what makes him such a dangerous opponent. Chaos is eventually revealed to be this, and boy does it show.
• Crapsack World: What the whole fairytale world becomes after the Evil Reader goes on his destructive spree.
• Darker and Edgier: Very much so.
• Dark and Troubled Past: Woofster's past is revealed to be this. He grew up being The Unfavorite due to his father, a legendary superhero, abandoning him for being the weakest out of his kids. He suffered a bout of Can't Catch Up with his older siblings, and he considers being unable to defend his story from the Evil Reader his biggest blunder.
  • Jackson is revealed to have more of a troubled backstory than him, though.
• Dark Is Not Evil: Jackson wore dark colors originally when he was training to be a Super Reader, and even though he had his flaws, he certainly wasn't evil...until Chaos showed up.
• Dark Magical Girl: What Princess Presto becomes after the Evil Reader possesses her.
• Deadpan Snarker: Muse at times. Wonder Red also gets the same treatment in this story.
• The Dreaded: Chaos. As it turns out, they had a good reason to fear him...
• Driven to Villainy: Lexicon was driven to become evil after his beloved Angelica was killed. Jackson was driven to become evil when he was mind screwed by Chaos into believing that everyone hated him and wanted him to die.
• Drunk on the Dark Side: Jackson, when he first turns into the Evil Reader.
• Elemental Powers:
  • Casting a Shadow: The Evil Reader's more destructive attacks.
  • Gemstone Assault:Lexicon.
  • Light 'em Up: Alpha Pig, Muse and Super Why. Jeremiah also has this power.
  • Playing with Fire: Wonder Red and Lexicon. Chaos's powers also have this.
  • Shock and Awe:Woofster and the Evil Reader, as well as Jeremiah and Chaos.
  • Star Power: Muse and Princess Presto.
• Even Evil Has Standards: Lexicon had no problem with kidnapping Little Boy Blue or sending an army of possessed villagers after a bunch of kid superheroes, but the moment the Evil Reader shows Perverse Sexual Lust towards Princess Presto,kidnaps her and turns her into a Dark Magical Girl, he became disgusted, calls him out on this, and later releases her father from his prison, which resulted in him getting a Black Fang Striker to the face. It is only after the reveal that the Evil Reader is really Chaos that he performs a Heel–Face Turn.
• Evil Is Hammy: The Evil Reader really knows how to make an entrance, chewing the scenery as though it's filet mignon.
• Fighting Your Friend: The Super Readers are forced to fight against Princess Presto in Chapter 13, as she's been turned into a Dark Magical Girl. Cheryl and Carlos, Jackson's two best friends, also had to do this when Jackson became the Evil Reader.
• Good Is Not Soft: The Super Readers stick with their ethics, but they will not hesitate to light you up if you cause them problems. Jeremiah also doesn't play around, especially when Chaos is involved.
• Headbutting Heroes: Although it's not as brutal as most examples, Red and Muse are this for the first few chapters of the fic. Later, they become Vitriolic Best Buds.
• Hero Killer: The Evil Reader was implied to be this, at first. Then you learn that Chaos, The Man Behind the Man for the Evil Reader, is the reason there are so few Super Readers.
• Heroic Second Wind: All of the Super Readers get this at some point in the story.
• I Wished You Were Dead: Everyone tells Jackson this when Chaos shows Jackson what everyone thinks of him.
• The Last of His Kind: As the epilogue reveals, our main heroes are some of the last Super Readers in the world.
• Light Is Not Good: If you ever see bright light coming from Chaos, run for your lives.
• Little Red Fighting Hood: Wonder Red,even more so in this story as she gets to fight.
• Lotus-Eater Machine: Happens in this order: Jackson (during his flashback story), Whyatt, and Lexicon (when Chaos traps them both in The Dark Prophecies).
• Macross Missile Massacre: Princess Presto, Alpha Pig and Princess Muse are experts in this field.
• Mass "Oh, Crap!": Happens several times in the story.
• Megaton Punch: Super Why's Sonic Fist, revealed in Chapter 20.
• My God, What Have I Done?: Jackson immediately regretted his actions, which caused him to kill his friends upon believing Chaos' lies, and destroying Minor Land with a Sphere of Destruction. Unfortunately, he ends up becoming a ghost left to wander another dimension for goodness knows how many years, while Chaos makes him look bad as a Hero Killer.
• My Greatest Failure:
  • Woofster considers not being able to save his story from the Evil Reader's destructive spree to be this.
  • Jeremiah considers not being able to save his brother Chaos from the dark path to be this. The reason for this will have to be explained in the sequel.
• Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Muse's attempt to free the possessed Princess Presto ends up backfiring severely, as the explosion uncovered the third piece of the Summoning Pin and Lexicon grabbed it.
• Official Couple: Whyatt and Red finally get together at the end of the story.
• Perverse Sexual Lust: The Evil Reader towards Princess Presto, which she will have none of. The reason for this will be explained in the sequel.
• Red Eyes, Take Warning: Red's and the Evil Reader's eyes go red when she unlocks the Berserker Mode.
• Sequel Hook: The epilogue hints at more world-building, Jeremiah's character and past, his past with Chaos, his brother, and the new hero, Saturn Volt, who plans on ending Chaos once and for all.
• Ship Tease: The summary says "small Whyatt/Red ship tease", so this is to be expected. The teasing drops considerably in order to keep the seriousness of the story.
  • The first moment of Ship Tease happens in chapter 8, where Super Why saves Wonder Red from almost falling to her death, Bridal Carry and all. The thought of being inches away from him makes Wonder Red undergo a Luminescent Blush.
  • The second occurs when they go inside Red's story, which has been turned into a Crapsack World. Wonder Red holds onto Super Why in fear, making him blush, and when Princess Pea asks what's going on, they both hastily deny anything going wrong. Super Why is also shown to be concerned after she unlocks the Berserker Mode.
  • The third happens in chapter 11, where Super Why tells her not to let her rage consume her and that she can't forget what she was fighting for in the first place. After that pep talk, she realizes that she's holding hands with him, and asks if he ever liked anybody. When he asks why she's asking him this, she asks him what he would think if he had a girl who was a friend who liked him. Woofster, trying to stop laughing (and completely failing at it), tells him that she likes him. Cue both of them going as red as stop signs and trying to deny his statement.
• Shout-Out:
  • When Queen Pea is looking through a book about legendary swords, one of the swords she comes across is The Sword of Omens.
  • There are also references to Lyrical Nanoha. Cases include:
    • Jackson's teacher is named Lindy Harlaown. Another teacher is named Leti.
    • When the Evil Reader appears in chapter 6, he says, "Zenryoku Zenkai", Nanoha's trigger for Starlight Breaker. In the case of the Evil Reader, the "Full power, total annihilation" suits him perfectly.
    • The Evil Reader's most destructive attack? Diabolic Emission, named after the city-swallowing spell used in Nanoha A's.
    • Super Why's trump card? Starlight Breaker.
  • The reveal of the Berserker Mode may remind one of Goku's Super Saiyan transformation. Or alternately, Super Sonic.
  • There are six traits of a superhero, and each Super Reader is called to bear that trait, similar to the Elements of Harmony.
  • Lexicon's eventual Heel–Face Turn has startling parallels to Edmund Pevensie's.
  • Woofster's true potential attack is called [[Franchise/Pokemon Volt Tackle]]. It's even executed in the same way!
  • Alpha Pig's purification attack is a reference to Cure Muse's attack from Suite Pretty Cure ♪: Shining Circle. And speaking of Suite, Muse is named after Cure Muse, and her story is called Major Land.
  • The swords that Princess Presto wields while she's under the Evil Reader's control, Fatal Rose and Divine Lightning, are similar to Oathkeeper and Oblivion in color scheme and design.
• Sphere of Destruction: Diabolic Emission, which is the most destructive attack in the Evil Reader's arsenal, creates a giant sphere that melts everything in its path, including people. It was also used when Jackson first became the Evil Reader, and he erased Minor Land from existence.
• Technical Pacifist: Princess Presto, Super Why and Alpha Pig may be the more peaceful of the Super Readers, but try their hand, and they will beat you up.
• The End of the World as We Know It: The Evil Reader did this to many fairytales, including his own story.
• There Is No Kill Like Overkill: Chaos LOVES this trope. From dropping dimension-swallowing attacks, to causing the whole ground to erupt in pools of fire, it's pretty clear that he loves using his power to destroy everything.
• Two Guys and a Girl: Jackson, Carlos and Cheryl were all the best of friends, as Chapter 17 reveals. This soon turns bad later on, though...
• Underestimating Badassery: It happens several times when Lexicon and the Evil Reader fight the Super Readers. The standout example, however, is when Chaos realizes this when he and Whyatt fight in chapter 20.
  Excerpt from Chapter 20: At that point, Chaos admitted something. He had considered, up until this point, that Super Why was the weakest of the Super Readers. The leader of the team had been a testament as to why Chaos hated the Super Readers: they were far too weak. Even that princess from Major Land had hit him harder than they had, and she was just about the same age as him, if slightly older. Even after he watched the Super Reader expertly counter him, Super Why's general lack of training and status had Chaos to consider him to be rather unimpressive.
  This moment, however, proved that Super Why was not the weakest of the Super Readers. He was just the one who held back until he had a good reason to pound someone into the ground.
• Unstoppable Rage: Wonder Red gets hit with this in chapter 9, triggering The Berserker within her. The Evil Reader goes through this as well, and things get ugly.
• Lexicon also got hit with this in the flashback for chapter 11.
• Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: People like the Evil Reader, Lexicon and Chaos really don't belong in a show like Super Why.
• Wave-Motion Gun: Muse's speciality. One could argue she was taking lessons from Nanoha Takamachi in this regard. Super Why later adds this to his repertoire.
• Wham Episode: Chapter 17. Forget everything you thought you knew about the Evil Reader before reading this chapter. He was originally a somewhat aloof, cocky, but good-natured boy named Jackson Flatts who underwent a whole bunch of terrible stuff, including being The Unfavorite, not being able to follow his dream of being a Super Reader due to his Reality Warper abilities making him too powerful, losing the girl he loved, and THENgetting his mind twisted by a mad sorcerer sealed in a crystal. His greed caused him to allow said sorcerer into his body, and he kills his own friends and destroys his own story after being led to believe that he was being betrayed by them. After that, he has a moment of remorse, but Chaos takes that as a moment of weakness and performs a Split-Personality Takeover, masquerading as the Evil Reader and killing nearly every single Super Reader.
