- Half-Human Hybrid: Celia Patch is a half human, half Koopa hybrid.
- Interspecies Romance: Celia's parents, Ruby Patch and Singe Marksmite, are of different species (human and Koopa, respectively).

However, they can also be very destructive as they once destroyed an entire city; Frostwall. The Flying Brick part is Downplayed a litte bit, though.

- My Significance Sense Is Tingling: When Roy breaks open the box containing the Shadow Sirens, Kamek senses their presence in the Mushroom World.

- Crossover: Despite taking places in the Mario Universe, it features characters from other works, such as Teen Titans and Adventure Time.
