• Bears Are Bad News: Mr. J wants to sleep in a cave but decides against it due to there being a bear inside
• Claustrophobia: Rodney breaths heavily and has a panic attack when he realizes he's trapped in a small area.
• Death Glare: Mr. J glares at Rodney when he tells him he knows better than to listen to him.
• Everyone Has Standards: While Mr. J hates Rodney, he admits he doesn't want him to be upset or hurt. He also saves him from a coyote.
• Fainting: Mr. J faints due to hypothermia.
• Foot Bath Treatment: Mrs. J gives her husband a foot bath to warm him up, it works.
• Furry Reminder: Rodney tries to sleep in a tree due to being a squirrel.
• Head Desk: Mr. J hits his head on the steering wheel horn when he realizes he's trapped in an avalanche with Rodney.
• It's All My Fault: Rodney blames himself for Mr. J almost freezing to death.
• Oh, Crap!: Rodney is horrified when he finds out he is trapped in the tunnel.
• Pun-Based Title: "No way out" but with snow.
• Puppy-Dog Eyes: Rodney does this to manipulate Mr. J into taking him to the mall.
• "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Mr. J says this to Rodney for always being annoying and getting them into another situation.
  Mr. J: "This is all your fault! We're stuck here because of you!"
  Rodney: "But"-
  Mr. J: "Let me finish! This wouldn't have happened if I adopted a better pet, something that doesn't talk or isn't a huge jerk all the time! You're the worst creature I have ever met!"
  Rodney: "I'm well aware you hate me! I thought we were getting along but I knew it was too good to be true again."
  Mr. J: "It always is because of how lazy, selfish and awful you are!"
• Save the Jerk: Mr. J throws a rock at a coyote to stop it from trying to eat Rodney.
• Status Quo Is God: Word of God says that Mr. J will go back to hating Rodney and Rodney will continue being a jerk, however, they will be more considerate sometimes as well.
• That Was Not a Dream: Mr. J has a nightmare they were trapped in an avalanche only to find out it's real when he wakes up.
• Tsundere: A nonromantic example, Mr. J claims he still hates Rodney despite forgiving him and patting his head. Rodney sees through this lie.
• Vitriolic Best Buds: Mr. J and Rodney slowly become this in the story, they still fight a lot, but they show more concern towards each other and look out for each other more because of their adventure.
