Riddle Me This Fillmore is a Batman and Fillmore! crossover story by Epiclot214. When Edward Nygma transfers to X, he finds himself as a consultant for the safety patrol, but behind the scenes something is brewing...

  • Adaptation Origin Connection: The one who taunted Filmore for being a lost cause in this fic was Harvey Dent instead of Mr. Geary.
  • Adaptational Karma: In this story Parnassus gets tricked into an Engineered Public Confession, where he never got any on-screen comeuppance in canon.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Usually the Riddler is a criminal mastermind and a complete megalomaniac to say the least. This Riddler? Well, first off, Edward isn't even officially the Riddler here and while he's not exactly a warm and fuzzy kid, he'd still prefer to use his brainpower for good. He used to be a troublemaker more in line with his usual m.o, using puzzles and riddles to attack people. He left a stinkbomb in a bully's locker hooked up to a classic riddle but those days are behind him now.
  • Age Lift: This fic features several classic Batman characters as middle school students in X, such as Riddler, Renee Montoya, Maggie Sawyer, and The Question.
  • The Chessmaster: Who should become the new school guidance counselor but Professor Hugo Strange, a former student. And not only does he know something about the secret of X Middle School, he's using his position to manipulate students into committing crimes. He even calls his patients pawns.
  • The Corruptor: Professor Hugo Strange uses his status as guidance counselor to convince students to go through with their crimes. So far, confirmed patients turned culprits include Elliot Funston from "Test of the Tested" and Harrison Post from "Cry, The Beloved Mascot".
  • Dark Secret: There's something hidden within X Middle School. Something that, according to The Question, is so dark and sinister that not only is every criminal kid gonna be after it, but whatever it is, it will change the face of the school forever.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Edward's last name is technically "Nashton", but he hates people calling him that.
  • Engineered Public Confession: Edward bluffs Parnassus into thinking that he has a recording proving his guilt, lets Parnassus take it, then tricks him into bragging about how he'll get away with it, all while Folsom is in earshot.
  • Frame-Up: Like with Ingrid, Parnassus is threatened by Ed's intellect and tries to frame him for a prank.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: Maggie acts as this in "Cry, The Beloved Mascot".
    • Helena Bertinellie/Huntress is one under the name Rosa Hunt in "Red Robins Don't Fly".
  • History Repeats: Just like when Ingrid came to X, Parnassus tries to frame Ed for a prank, feeling threatened by his intelligence. Unfortunately for Parnassus, Ed manages to outwit him, and make sure that he can't pin it on one of his cronies this time.
  • Lost Food Grievance: After Renee uses a box of donuts Vallejo was eating to capture a suspect, he tells Fillmore he owes him a new box.
  • Properly Paranoid: Ed keeps a piece of tape on the edge of his locker so that he can tell if anyone's been in it. Sure enough, Parnassus tried to frame him for a prank and hide the evidence in the locker, but because of the tape Ed notices and foils the plot.
    • The mysterious Vic Sage aka, The Question. Just like in DC Comics cannon, he's a conspiracy theorist. And just like in the comics, he's a lot wiser than he initially appears. He's found in the detention center, but he chose to stay there so he can deduce in peace. What is he deducing? The secret of X Middle School.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Vic Sage tells Fillmore that getting Parnassus expelled created a power vacuum in the school and now every hooligan will be after that.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: As Hawthorn tries to justify his actions, Edward shuts him down and says everyone deserves to read the library books, not just him.
    • In the very first chapter, Edward gives a very brutal one to the whole student body after his "welcoming ceremony", calling the school a joke and, as Fillmore states later, the students a buch of idiots.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: After interrogation, Ed rudely questions Vallejo for not understanding that his full name stands for enigma, and calls everyone numskulls when Parnassus ribs him about the crime, both Ingrid and Fillmore tell him to stop as it only makes him look more guilty.
