Prisoner of Destiny is a Transformers Fan Fic and series by Shebakoby and marks the first appearance of Sheba, an unusual type of Transformer that also happens to be Starscream's Guardian Force.

Together with its sequel, The Big Capture of 1999-2006, Prisoner of Destiny attempts to explain how many Transformers have unusual abilities, such as Skywarp's Teleportation ability, Elita One's Special Power, and Megatron's ability to repeatedly come back from almost certain defeat.

It comes from Quintesson experimentation with Magitek, infusing their robotic slaves with magical power in an attempt to give them the ability to self-generate fuel. Those experiments were carried out by the Quintesson Evil Sorcerer Mara Al-Utha, otherwise known as The Red Wizard from the season 3 Transformers episode "Madman's Paradise", and he was banished to Menonia after some of his creations grew too powerful and assisted in the overthrow of the Quintessons. Some of his creations were forced into an organic form by a particular experiment, that of a flying puma, with the ability to shift between that and a robotic version of that form, eventually with the ability to transform to an alternate vehicular mode.

After the Quintessons were banished from Cybertron, the Super Prototype "Organic Transformer", Elder Prime, began appointing some of his fellow Organic Transformers as Guardians, each one charged with protecting the life of a particular Transformer that he believed had a special destiny to fulfill.

This Work Provides Examples Of:

  • Berserk Button: Triggering this is how Megatron figures out who Sheba is by faking an attack on Starscream. Under normal circumstances a Guardian will immediately instinctively attack anyone who attacks their "Guarded One."

  • Expy: Elder Prime is based on the entity in the Autobot Matrix of Leadership that tells Optimus Prime how to cure the Hate Plague in the Season 3 Transformers cartoon episode "The Return of Optimus Prime Part 2"
  • Hulk Speak: The Dinobots and the three Decepticon combiners.* Mr. Exposition: Perceptor.
  • Status Effects: Sheba often uses status effects to protect Starscream. The Autobots find a way to use Sleep on her a few times.
  • Summon Magic: Sheba really likes utilizing her summoned monsters. She actually is one, when Starscream is threatened and she gets teleported to where he is.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Sheba isn't allowed to actually end any Autobot lives while carrying out her duty as Starscream's Guardian. She is allowed to Non-Lethal K.O. them, however.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: Megatron has known all along that a Guardian had been appointed for Starscream. This is implied to be part of the reason he hadn't applied this trope to Starscream during Transformers Seasons 1 and 2.
