Go To

Precocious Love is a Fire Emblem fic written by AnonymousContributer, which acts like a novelization of Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Starting not long after Lucina joins the Shepherds, Lucina's feelings for Robin resurface when they meet once again. However, two problems keep her from confessing. Her nervousness, and Tharja.

Precocious Tropes:

  • A-Cup Angst: Lucina is rather upset about her flat chest, particularly in relation to Tharja.
  • Action Girl: As is the norm for anything Fire Emblem related.
  • Bait-and-Switch: In chapter six, Lissa fakes an illness to keep from walking up a mountain. The first one to react? Owain.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Lissa gets one when she finally finds out where her Brand mark is. Lampshaded beautifully by Henry.
Henry: This is just like in one of those cheesy kid's stories. What you wanted most was inside you all along. Nyaha!
  • Boyfriend-Blocking Dad: Discussed between the men. Henry says that if Chrom finds out that Robin is dating Lucina, then he might castrate Robin and eat it in front of him. Robin hopes he's making that up.
Donnel: I don't know. Our Exalt sure does love sausage.
  • Brick Joke: In chapter four, a conversation happened where Gecko was selling 'bandit insurance', despite causing the problems themselves. Chapter six shows someone that actually fell for it
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: Robin. He laments to Lucina that none of the women in the army ever expressed an interest in him, since he'd really like to settle down someday. When she tells this to Sumia and Lissa, they laugh their heads off before finally managing to say this:
Sumia: Lucina, every girl has a thing for Robin.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: In-universe. Lucina makes a joke at Tharja's expense. Robin isn't amused in the slightest, and actually expected better from Lucina.
  • Epic Fail:
    • Somehow, Sumia managed to stab her hand. Wouldn't be much, but she stabbed the hand that was holding the knife!
    • Chrom managed to smash several holes in the walls of Ysstol, ruining Frederick's attempt at cleaning the entire castle (should be noted that Frederick was delighted that there was a mess), a pre-cooked turkey was destroyed, and scared two ambassadors from making an aqueduct in Themis. It should be noted that this was an attempt to impress a bunch of girls.
  • Everyone Can See It: It's pretty clear to everyone that Robin and Lucina have feelings for each other. The only people who don't notice are Robin and Lucina themselves.
  • Gilligan Cut: Twice, and both involve the girls.
    • The first time is in the form of a flashback, where Lissa, Cordelia, Mirabelle, and Sumia are acting out a drug deal, using tea and chocolate in place of the real thing. Things quickly escalate from there.
    • The second time is at their bachelorette party, after Vaike says that their probably talking about boys:
Sumia (While drunk): Hey girls, let's play the knife game!
  • Imagine Spot: When Robin mentions that Frederick's Fanatical Fitness Hour is ten times worse than Grima, Lucina has a moment where she imagines Grima going through the training regiment. She wishes it was that simple.
  • Insane Troll Logic: In chapter 1, Lucina believes that the larger the breasts, the more corrupt the person. Since she has a flat chest, she must be pure.
  • Lemony Narrator: By this point, it's pretty obvious that AnonymousContributer is having fun making the narration.
  • Mood Whiplash: The end of Chapter 4 goes from humorous to depressing back to humorous in the span of a couple of paragraphs.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Chapter six brings us several incidents that happened during the two year timeskip. Ricken got himself a tattoo, Robin did something that apparently embarrasses him, and the male shepherds all did something. Notably, all were attempts to impress girls.
    • Something happened to Chrom that made him hate birds, or rather Falcons.
  • Not So Above It All: Lon'Qu once fought a group of troublemakers in an attempt to impress Ke'Ri.
  • Oblivious to Love: Turns out, Robin is this. Every girl in the army has had a crush on him at some point, he just doesn't notice. Fridge Brilliance occurs when you realize it's probably tied into his self-esteem issues, so he wouldn't notice unless someone outright said it.
  • Shipper on Deck: Everybody (except Tharja) wants to see Robin and Lucina together. The girls even say that they'll back off from Robin so Lucina has a chance.
  • Shout-Out: Oh Naga...
    • Chapter 6: Owain makes use of Roy's final smash in battle against a bandit, who claims that Owain is the Legendary Salamander that he has a rivalry with.
    • Chapter 6: A trader was robbed by a bunch of bandits, who then proceeded to take the wooden figures he carried with him. Lucina's reaction seems like a jab at people who take amiibo collection seriously
    • Chapter 4: The entire chapter seems to be one long Take That! between Geico and State Farm
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Henry's Translatorb. Lampshaded by Gaius, who says that Sully already fills the roll.
    Sully: Up yours, chuckles.
  • Stepford Smiler: Robin's insecurity and self-esteem issues get a bit of focus here, particularly when he's narrating; however, he usually masks them with his optimism and cheer to keep the army's spirits up.
  • Those Two Guys: Alvin and Brett, two OCs that the author created.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: In the vanilla game, Inigo was denied a chance to have 'tea-time' with a village maiden when Chrom ordered him to move out with the Shepherds. In this fic, he has that chance, and luckily for him, she both accepts, and reveals that she has sisters. Chrom, at first, thinks about moving out, but as they had just come out of a large battle, decides to let him have his chance, and the rest of the Shepherds take this chance to heal their wounds and rest
  • Totally Radical: Alvin and Brett, who proceed to confuse the hell out of Chrom when they first meet.
  • Training from Hell: Frederick's Fanatical Fitness Hour. Robin actually says it's scarier than Grima.
  • Wham Line: Played for Laughs
Owain: Do you know how long I've spent searching for Mysteltainn? How much of my life devoted to finding the one blade that can quell my sword hand's wrath?
Lucina: I may not know how long Owain, but i can sympathize. I too have been chasing a fleeting dream for some time now-
Owain: Three weeks. THREE. TREACHEROUS. WEEKS.
