Persona: Ascend is a fanfiction of the Persona series written by Hawkatana.
Shouma Tashiro is a young man from Osaka who moves to Los Angeles to live with his brother Daigo and father Wataru to enroll at college in 2024. Despite this, however, something sinister lies below the surface. After stumbling upon a mysterious otherworld named "Agartha", Shouma awakens to the power of the Wild Card and his Persona, as he and his new friends must uncover the secrets of this strange realm and ascend the castle Shambhala before it's too late.

Persona: Ascend provides examples of:
- Arc Words: As with the main Persona games, "I am thou... Thou art I..."
- Badass Cape: How Personas manifest themselves in Agartha. Their users throw the capes off to summon them.
- Bizarrchitecture: Shambhala: a giant upside-down castle floating in the skies above Agartha.
- Deliberately Monochrome: The world of Agartha is a world where colour doesn't seem to exist except for being on Shadows and Personas.
- Elsewhere Fic: Takes place in the United States instead of Japan, though still in the same universe.
- Kid Hero: Averted. Not a single character under the age of 18 has been introduced.
- Multinational Team: So far, the party consists of Shouma: a Japanese man, Piers: a Jamaican man, and Juniper: an American woman.
- Next Sunday A.D.: The fic takes place in the year 2024, three years after the first chapter was published.
- Phantom Zone: Agartha is a Deliberately Monochrome realm where a giant foreboding castle floats upside-down in the sky.
- Public Domain Character: Just like in the main series, all the Personas are based on figures from history and mythology, like Miyamoto Musashi or Anansi.
