—Alcatraz's thoughts on Aura in action
After beating back the Ceph in New York, Alcatraz blacks out and finds himself in a crater in Remnant, where he is found by (in his own words) "Little Red Riding Reaper and the Terminator's awkward teenage daughter". With no way to get back, Alcatraz has to come to terms that this new land is very different from his old one.

This fic contains examples of the following tropes:
- Absurdly Sharp Blade: Alcatraz makes one out of a Ceph blade when he realizes he has no useful close quarters weapon.
- Applied Phlebotinum: Dust as per RWBY canon. It allows for designs and engineering feats that simply aren't possible on Earth. Alcatraz has lightning dust implanted into his suit which gives it enough power to last for years.
- Artificial Intelligence: SECOND and Penny. On several occasions, they even directly communicate.
- Big Brother Instinct: Alcatraz has this towards Ruby, who reminds him of his little sister, and, to a lesser degree, the rest of team RWBY.
- Bodyguarding a Badass: After a sniper attempt on Weiss' life, her father hires Alcatraz to guard her. Who is more badass is up for debate.
- Body Horror: Alcatraz's nanosuit isn't pleasant to look at, and multiple times people are disturbed to see Alcatraz's "blood" get sucked back into his body.
- Boring, but Practical: Rather than go with the transforming weapons on Remnant, Alcatraz just uses his Majestic, a reclaimed Ceph blade, and a Gauss rifle.
- Cuteness Proximity: Despite being a hardened warrior from a hellish world located in another universe, Alcatraz has zero defense against Ruby's adorable puppy dog eyes. He caves like a bitch whenever she breaks them out.
- Damsel in Distress: Discussed. Weiss's father is distinctly unimpressed by Weiss's performance when the White Fang kidnaps her and the rest of Team RWBY out of their room at Beacon and tries to have them publically executed, forcing Alcatraz to stage a rescue mission. Alcatraz retorts rather frigidly that there's not a lot of people who wouldn't be caught off-guard by having a canister of knock-out gas shot into their room in the middle of the night.
- Deadpan Snarker: Alcatraz sees plenty of snark bait in Remnant ranging from the names to the power of Aura.
- Drama-Preserving Handicap:
Word of God states that Alcatraz will not be able to unlock or use Aura for himself. So stop asking. - Good Parents: Dr. Polendina, whose response to suddenly realizing that he had just created a new life form and having it ask if he's its father was to say yes.
- Ki Manipulation: Aura, as per RWBY standard. Alcatraz frequently curses it as bullshit soul magic.
- Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Inverted. On Crysis Earth, Alcatraz was the most powerful soldier Mankind had. On Remnant, even basic Grimm mooks and Squishy Wizards like Velvet give him a run for his money.
- Not entirely. He's still vastly more powerful than any normal human and many of the low tier Aura users. He was even able to off an Ursa in melee and kills Beowulfs by the dozens. Mostly only some named characters are able to match or surpass him.
- Reasonable Authority Figure:
- Ozpin, while initially skeptical of Alcatraz's story, accepts it once Al gives him proof and offers him a place to stay.
- Ironwood, much to Alcatraz's surprise, isn't like the military generals from Earth and actually listens to Al's advice on the Ceph bodies that have been recovered.
- Public Execution: The White Fang capture and attempt to do this to team RWBY on live television. Fortunately, Alcatraz rescues them.
- Running Gag: Bullshit soul magic.
- Stealth Expert: While Alcatraz can't compete with the Remnant natives in a straight fight, he is an infiltration expert capable of sneaking into a White Fang rally.
- Trapped in Another World: The premise of the fic.
- Troll: Alcatraz has a unique sense of humor. Even more so in the omakes.
- Weak, but Skilled: Alcatraz in comparison to the citizens of Remnant. Because he lacks Aura he is very squishy and can't fight people one-on-one. However, he is an expert at covert ops due to his training as a Marine.
- What the Hell Are You?: Alcatraz has this reaction to Blake, noting that she has a different DNA structure than humans.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Ruby's reaction to Alcatraz killing every White Fang member he came across while sneaking in to rescue team RWBY from being executed, especially since he didn't even try to spare any of them. While Alcatraz tells her that he did what was necessary, as just knocking them out wouldn't guarantee that they wouldn't wake up and raise the alarm, and that everyone he killed deserved to die for kidnapping teenagers, he actually starts to question himself, wondering if he could have done a low-casualty mission, and wonders how much of his actions were him and how much was what SECOND wanted him to do.
- While the two of them agreed to work together to hunt down Adam, Alcatraz doesn't really like Qrow, especially when he treats Penny as if she is just another Atlas robot, pointing out that that he is more robot than human at this point.
- Winged Humanoid: The Faunus that attempts to snipe Weiss has "retractable" bird wings as his Semblance.
