"Anyway, something happened to me, I don't know...I got sucked into some weird dimension thingy and I got turned into an alicorn! But it only happens when I say a certain word. This old pony told me that this power should only be used to protect others, and stop something bad that would come back to hurt a lot of ponies. I don't know what's coming, but I won't let it hurt my friends, or anypony, and to those who dare try, I got one word for you..."

MLDC: SHAZAM! provides examples of:

  • Aborted Declaration of Love: Alula tries to confess her feelings for Scootaloo before she leaves the orphanage, but at the last second decides not to.
  • Abusive Parents: Scootaloo’s mother, who apparently suffered some sort of mental breakdown and began abusing Scootaloo after the death of Scoots’ father.
  • Achilles' Heel: Scootaloo convinces Black Adam to fight her one on one in their civilian forms, with no powers. Black Adam refuses at first and is ready to kill her, but Scootaloo counters with calling him a coward, too afraid a little filly without the powers of the gods backing him up. To prove that he is not a coward and true king, Black Adam reverts back to his original form, only to find out that his body starts to age rapidly to the point of decay.

  • Action Mare: Scootaloo, as well as most of the cast.
  • All Your Colors Combined: The Mane 6 use their Rainbow Power as a last ditch effort to stop Black Adam, but unfortunately, it does nothing to him.
  • Battle Aura: Princess Celestia and Princess Luna display this when both unleash their full powers. The Mane 6 when they enter Rainbow Power, and of course, Scootaloo and Black Adam with their lightning powers.
  • Battle Cry: Scootaloo shouts out “SHAZAM” in order to transform, which is also her battle cry.
  • Big Bad: Black Adam. Subverted Trope due to the fact that it seems the Kingdom is making up more of the bulk of the antagonistic side of things and Black Adam is now dead.
  • Big Damn Heroes: When Scootaloo appears in streak of lightning and sucker punches Black Adam through three buildings to protect Twilight.
  • Break the Badass: Black Adam, now known as Adamant Resolve, shows Scootaloo his past, how he became Black Adam by killing his younger sister and taking on the full power, showing the kind of resolve he has to bring order to the world. Seeing all this makes Scootaloo realize that Black Adam will kill her, having no qualms about killing a twelve-year-old filly.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Scootaloo is reluctant to speak about her past, for fear that her friends and the older ponies she looks up to will treat her differently, and that no one will ever adopt if they found out.
  • Choke Holds: Black Adam does this a few times, using his telekinetic magic to wrap around the necks of his victims.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Black Adam wields the powers of six different gods and can channel them all at once, his fight with Celestia and Luna, arguably the pseudo-goddesses of the pony race, throw everything they have at him and do very little damage to Black Adam, to which he literally smashes Celestia into the curb and brain fries Luna. During his fight with Mane 6, after their failed Rainbow Power attack, they each attack utilizing the unique powers their transformed states grant them. And yet again Black Adam’s powers prove to be the stronger, knocking out all but Twilight.
  • Elemental Punch: Both Scootaloo and Black Adam utilize this attack multiple times, both being wielders of lightning magic.
  • Flaming Sword: When Celestia calls forth a blazing sword made entirely out of fire and magical energy.
  • Heroic Second Wind: After a pep talk from Murmur and seeing her friends held captive by Black Adam, Scootaloo realizes the true source of her magical might and transforms once again, only this time, things turn out quite differently.
  • Homing Projectile: Celestia’s fireballs chase after Black Adam. During Black Adam’s second fight with Scootaloo, Black unleashes electro energy spheres that chase after Scootaloo. Also, during her fight with Black Adam, Luna uses her energy construct chains to chase after Black Adam.
  • Neck Snap: Adamant Resolve, the other half of Teth (Black) Adam, uses his magic to kill his younger sister Alchemy by doing this.
  • No, I Am Behind You: A favored tactic of Black Adam, using his incredible god-like speed to enter the blind spots behind Princess Luna and Princess Celestia, as well as Scootaloo during their respective fights.
  • No-Sell: The Princesses and the Mane 6’s attacks do little to nothing against Black Adam.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: Black Adam shows this multiple times, being sealed in a sarcophagus for thousands of years, and surviving multiple powerful attacks from Princess Celestia and Princess Luna in their released forms, shrugging them off as if nothing. Scootaloo’s powers before her Heroic Second Wind, were too divided and thus made it impossible for her to be this unless focusing all her power on it. However, afterwards, she and Black Adam were unable to defeat each other with mere physical or magical power.
  • Launcher Move: Scootaloo demonstrates this three times. The first was when she back-hoofed the terrorist leader for almost dealing Rainbow Dash a death blow. The second time where she saves Twilight and sends him flying through three buildings. The third is when Scootaloo gets her Heroic Second Wind and sends Black Adam soaring into the sky with an uppercut.
  • Love Confessor: In order to help Scootaloo tell Babs about her past, Babs establishes quid pro quo, revealing to Scootaloo that Babs has had an incestuous crush on her cousin Apple Bloom, which has apparently developed from having been accepted by her cousin after all the things she did to her, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle.
  • Pummel Duel: Scootaloo and Black Adam are locked in fisticuffs over the city, moving at high speed and generating a sphere of lightning energy from their fight as both of them land blows, counter, block, and attack in a high-speed melee.
  • Puncha Wall: Scootaloo, after hearing about being adopted by a mare, has the buried memories of her past haunting her. When she’s in the bathroom later that night, she stares at herself as the voice of her abuser keeps ringing in her ears, eventually causing her to smash her hoof into the bathroom mirror.
  • Rape as Backstory: Scootaloo reveals to Babs that her mother, after her shift in mental state, would rape her and force her into acts she didn’t want to do for undetermined amount of time, possibly months and or years.
  • Speed Blitz: Scootaloo demonstrates this during the hostage crisis at Manehattan, using her Speed of Mercurius Zephyr to quickly subdue many of the terrorists within the stadium. Black Adam utilizes this just as much, using his incredible speed to outrun and maneuver around the Princesses’ attacks.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Black Adam sees himself as this, but it's quite the opposite.
