Line in the Sand is a Worm and Mass Effect crossover by Domesticated Sword. Updates the first of every month. Last update was on Nov 1, 2017. Appears to be dead now.

When a Precog saw the eventual end of the human race, brought on by Parahumans, they contract a Tinker to get all possible Parahumans off the planet, so he builds a ship. Over a hundred and seventy years later, a massive ship arrives at the Citadel. First fic, rated M for swearing and eventual violence

Tropes:

  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: One Tinker dissects one of the Citadel's bio drones and has to be bailed out of jail.
  • Benevolent A.I.: Dragon, as per the usual, helping maintain parahumanity's home in the stars.
  • Bigger on the Inside: The Imperator contains/is connected to a number of pocket dimensions.
  • Cool Starship: The Imperator, home to thirty million parahumans, which has been enhanced so many times by Tinkers that it's as big as the Citadel and bristling with defenses.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Some batarian pirates try to attack the Imperator. None of their attacks connect, and the ship ends up turned inside out.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Neither party of humans saw each other coming.
  • For Want Of A Nail: The major deviation was Contessa managing to reason with Scion, which led to parahumanity departing Earth Bet.
  • Fountain of Youth:
    • Amy Dallon/Panacea has managed to keep the heads of the Twelve Guilds young, though some refuse.
    • Velen's power lets him reverse aging within his aura's area. Fitting for a being from a race with a limited lifespan compared to humans.
  • Freak Out: The parahuman delegation to the Citadel freaks Velen out so badly that he triggers.
  • Omniscient Council of Vagueness: The Department Heads of the Imperator are hidden even from each other and the captain, though apparently all the power types are represented.
  • Outside-Context Problem: The parahumans are something no one, not even the Citadel humans, saw coming.
  • Wrong Context Magic: The abilities of the parahumans are completely different from those of biotics.
