Fanfic / Lincoln is Done

Go To

Lincoln is Done is a fanfiction of The Loud House that has become somewhat controversial due to its characterisation problems and use of the Fandom-Specific Plot of Lincoln running away.

In it, Lincoln has a bad day when his sisters coddle him over a minor injury, argue with him over the remote, tease him for ripping his underwear (the only thing he was wearing), and blame him for clogging the toilet. He then runs away to the McBride house after having two nightmares about his sisters hating him.

This makes all the girls miserable and they try to bring him back, but Lincoln still insists they don't love him, so then Haiku shows up with an... unorthodox solution. A parody of the fanfic, called Lincoln is Dumb, can be read here.

Lincoln is Done provides examples of

  • Accidental Murder: Or rather accidental attempted murder. Lola remembers "trying to kill Lincoln by accident".
  • Animal Lover: Despite being much ruder than in canon, Lincoln still seems to be an animal lover, feeling guilty about leaving his pets behind and enjoying smooching with Cleopawtra and Nepurrtiti.
  • Ass Shove: Discussed when Luna seems to imply she wants to stick Lola's tiara up her behind, but changes her mind because Lily is nearby.
  • Big "NO!": In Lincoln's nightmare, when the sisters send him to Hell, he shouts, "No!".
  • Big Sister Bully:
    • According to Lincoln, Lori is a bully and uses being the oldest sister as an excuse, but at that point, all Lori did was call Luna a twerp and (gently if a bit rudely) push Lincoln out of the way.
    • When Luna and Lynn feel guilty, they call themselves bullies.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Discussed when no one feels sorry for Lola due to her brattiness.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Just like on the show, the fanfic begins with Lincoln talking to the viewers.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • The story mentions that the Loud kids have fought over the TV remote (seen many times), the last slice of pizza (seen in "Slice of Life"), and the best spot on the couch (implied at the end of "The Sweet Spot"), and tried to one-up each other at the garage sale (seen in "Come Sale Away").
    • Luna brings up the time Lori threw up on Lincoln and posted it on social media (seen in "The Sweet Spot").
    • Lynn Sr. brings up the time they thought Lincoln was bad luck, which happened in "No Such Luck".
    • Lola feels guilty for blackmailing her siblings to be in their secrets club, which happened in "A Tattler's Tale".
    • Lincoln remembers going to a concert with Luna. This occurred in "For Bros About to Rock".
    • Lincoln mentions to Dr. Lopez wearing noise-b-gone earplugs, which happened in "Sound of Silence".
    • Lincoln brings up the time he kissed Ronnie Anne and got a black eye ("Heavy Meddle").
    • Haiku brings up the Sadie Hawkins Dance, which Lincoln attended in "Dance, Dance Resolution".
  • Crying a River: Discussed when Lynn Sr. says that he doesn't want his daughters' tears to form a big enough river that they'd need a row boat.
  • Dark Fic: The story involves Lincoln disowning his sisters and running away and the girls feeling extremely guilty and (in Lynn, Luna, and Lola's case) suicidal.
  • Department of Redundancy Department:
    • Lincoln is described as the middle child of "the Loud family, within the Loud house".
    • The Loud siblings are described as fighting "many and countless times".
  • Disowned Sibling: When Lincoln runs away, he disowns his sisters. Throughout the fic, Lincoln refers to them as his "ex-sisters" or his "former sisters".
  • Even the Dog Is Ashamed: When Lola's parents and Lana feel mad at her for disobeying, Lana's pets (that'd be Hops the frog, Izzy the lizard, Bitey the rat, and El Diablo the snake) glare at her.
  • Faint in Shock: Clyde passes out when he sees or mentions his crush Lori. A bit of a Character Exaggeration, since in The Loud House canon he's more likely to just act awkward and/or get a nosebleed.
  • The Fashionista: Leni demonstrates her canonical fashion sense when she dislikes arm and leg warmers for being too much like the 1980's.
  • Fell Asleep Crying: In the eighth chapter, Luna cries herself to sleep.
  • Fight for the Last Bite: The fic references the Louds' fight for the last slice of pizza in "Slice of Life".
  • Hanging Around: Lola believes she caused her brother Lincoln to run away since she clogged the toilet and lied that he did it. Thus, she tries to hang herself, but her parents talk her down, so she survives.
  • Heartbreak and Ice Cream: Lori eats many tubs of ice cream when she's sad about Lincoln running away.
  • Howl of Sorrow: Defied by Charles. He wants to howl due to missing Lincoln, but decides not to because it's nighttime.
  • Hypocrite: Lana is mad at Lola for following Luna and disobeying their parents, but she did it too.
  • Insomnia Episode: Occasionally, the sisters have trouble sleeping due to missing Lincoln.
  • Karma Houdini: When Luna's sisters follow her despite being told no, only Lola gets grounded; the rest get off scot free.
  • Mad at a Dream: The whole reason Lincoln thinks his sisters hate him was because he dreamt they did.
  • Mistakes Are Not the End of the World: Haiku says to Lincoln that it's fine and normal to make mistakes and his family will forgive him.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: The girls feel guilty about Lincoln running away because they think it's their fault he's mad at them.
  • Naked People Are Funny: When Lincoln rips his undies, exposing his rear, his sisters all guffaw.
  • Nice Girl:
    • Leni is introduced as the kindest sister and loved by the whole family for being kind.
    • Luna is treated as being the only good sister in some scenes, like when she is the only one who doesn't accuse Lincoln of clogging the toilet.
  • Nightmare Sequence: Lincoln has two nightmares about his sisters being evil.
  • Nosebleed: Clyde gets a nosebleed when he sees Lori and another one when he mentions her to Lopez.
  • Not a Morning Person: At the beginning, Lori is groggy when she first wakes up.
  • Not So Stoic: The stoic Lucy and Lisa cry several times in this story.
  • Ocular Gushers: When Lisa cries at one point, her tears are described as coming out "like a garden sprinkler".
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In Lincoln's nightmare, he is afraid when Lucy sounds stern.
  • Out of Character:
    • Canonically, Lincoln is way too sensible to believe his sisters hate him because of a nightmare, much less run away or disown them because of it. He also swears a lot in this fanfiction, whereas in the show, he's never said anything worse than a censored "dammit".
    • The sisters might be a bit unhappy about Lincoln running away to the McBride house and offended by him disowning them, but they probably wouldn't canonically cry their eyes out or (in Lynn, Lori, and Lola's case) want to kill themselves. Luna specifically wouldn't think it was good that Lola was badly beat up by Lincoln.
    • While the parents aren't perfect, they certainly wouldn't punish only Lola when all her sisters except Luna also did the same thing wrong and claim she deserved to have two teeth punched out.
  • Potty Emergency: In the first chapter, Lincoln desperately needs to pee before finding the toilet clogged.
  • Pun: Luan quips that they need to get to the "bottom" of why Lincoln ripped his undies, then Luna quips about turning the other cheek.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Lynn Sr. says, "Put. Her. Down!" when Luna lifts up Lola.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: In Lincoln's nightmare, his sisters' eyes turn red when they turn evil.
  • Rouge Angles of Satin: While not riddled with errors, occasionally an error will result in a whole other word, such as "just" becoming "jut" and "put" becoming "out".
  • The Runaway: The plot is about Lincoln running away to Clyde's place.
  • Scary Stinging Swarm: When Lincoln asks to live with Clyde, the latter thinks that it's because the Loud house is infested with bees.
  • Shout-Out:
  • The Shrink: Lincoln sees Dr. Lopez the psychiatrist.
  • Speak in Unison:
    • When Lincoln twists his ankle, the sisters say, "Aw, poor Lincoln!" in unison.
    • In Lincoln's nightmare, the sisters say, "Goodbye, Lincoln" in unison.
    • When Lori claims that they don't have a brother, Rita and Lynn Sr. both say, "What?!".
    • The three oldest sisters apologise for fighting in unison in the fourth chapter.
  • Splitting Pants: At one point, Lincoln accidentally rips his underwear, which exposes his bare ass to all his sisters, much to their amusement.
  • Teleportation: In this story, Lucy really can teleport.
  • Unexpected Kindness: Lincoln realizes how much of a jerk he's been and isn't sure if his family will take him back after the way he's treated them. When he comes home, the family showers him with hugs and affection, and they even give him a cake.
  • Would Hit a Girl: The "hit" part is taken literally when Lincoln punches Lola in the face. Twice.
  • You Are Grounded!: When Lynn Sr. suspects Lincoln clogged the toilet, he grounds him for the day. Then, when he realises Lola did it, he grounds her for a month, which he extends to three months when she and the other girls follow Luna despite being told no.
