The crossover of Square Enix and Nintendo begins anew. Source link

Kingdom Hearts: The Nintendo Version Remixed is a fanfic written by KingdomKey23. It is a remake of the original version back in 2004, which crossovers Kingdom Hearts and Nintendo by retelling the story, with Nintendo characters taking over Disney characters. For one main example, Yoshi and Luigi play the roles of Donald and Goofy as Sora's companions.

The story began on December 29, 2019.

What the author plans for this upcoming revision is, besides improved writing quality, the Nintendo worlds' storylines are going to be more faithful to their respective Nintendo lore instead of carbon copies of Disney storylines. For more information, visit this link here.

Initially, the fanfic was canceled on November 21, 2022; fortunately, as of December 2 of that same year, it was uncanceled and has resumed updating.

The series contains appearances by characters and locations from the following games.

A duology of one-shot stories that are set during the Kingdom Hearts III timeframe that crossovers with Akane no Mai.

Akane no Kingdom Nintendo - A trio of video game characters from another reality fall into another: the world of the Phantom Thieves. This is a fanfic collaboration between Ford1114 and KingdomKey23. This is a non-canon crossover one-shot of our Akane no Mai series and KingdomKey23's Kingdom Hearts: The Nintendo Version Remixed fic.

Akane no Kingdom Nintendo Re:Mind - Sora and Joker meet a Revenant named Skyler. The trio must team up to stop a mad Revenant scientist, who threatens the Mushroom Kingdom and the Nintendo realms. This is a sequel one-shot to Ford1114's Akane no Kingdom Nintendo story.

Kingdom Hearts: The Nintendo Version Remixed Provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Expansion: According to the author's notes in this journal, he plans on giving Fire Emblem Awakening an original story that is set after the game's canon ending.
  • The Ahnold: Krusha is written as having an Austrian accent, which coupled with his muscular appearance makes him seem like an expy of Arnold Schwartzeneggar.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: General Klump, one of K. Rool's minions during the DK Island arc
    • The Neidermeyer: Funky Kong attempts to be the above, but ends up being more of this trope. His only use is to give DK, Diddy, Dixie, Lanky, and Chunky their weapons.
  • Fourth-Wall Observer: Just as in the games, Cranky provides such in the DK Island arc, commenting on how Isabelle can't compare Yoko Shimomura to chiptunes, leaning towards the wall and adding that she's "no one in particular."
  • Imagine Spot: Army Dillo forms one upon initiating his fight with Sora.
  • Legion of Doom: Just like Maleficent and the Disney villains, Bowser forms his group consisting of Ridley, Giovanni, King K. Rool, Ganondorf, Black Shadow, and Validar.
    • In the original version, Bowser's group consisted of Ridley, Giovanni, K. Rool, Ganondorf, Black Shadow, Nightmare, and Dr. Eggman.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: Between Kingdom Hearts and Nintendo.
    • In the original version that this is a remake of, it not only included Nintendo, but also Sega (by way of Sonic Adventure) and Konami (by way of Ganbare Goemon).
  • So Bad, It's Good: Invoked in-universe in order to torture Krusha. Diddy starts playing the "DK Rap". None of the Kongs, save for Diddy, like it, but Luigi, Yoshi, and Sora like it, saying that it gets good with age.
  • The Remake: Of the author's original story. He kept the original serving as "a reminder of where I started, and how far I've come."
  • Retired Badass: Cranky Kong manages to take out a number of Powerwilds threatening him and Isabelle, using only his cane, and later throwing a barrel, only stopping once *Crack!* "Oh, My Back!" hits him from the barrel throw.
  • Tournament Arc: The Pokémon storylines of the first story showcase Sora and his friends fighting rounds of Pokémon through such arc. It culminates in the Gold Match where Sora squares off against Mewtwo, and later the Platinum Match against Sephiroth.

Akane no Kingdom Nintendo Duology Provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Expansion: The Pokémon world is given a major focus and especially the second one-shot that features the world for the main conflict. Given how it's imagined as the first world of the KHIII timeframe, it comes full circle for the second one-shot.
  • Adaptational Badass: Because this was set in the timeframe of KHIII, Sora is already a legendary hero in wielding strong abilities and using the Ultima Weapon commonly.
    • Even Luigi of all people has taken levels of courage that an event showed him using Emerald Zettaflare on Terra-Xehanort. He has come a long way from the cowardly persona he once was.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog and his world makes an early appearance in tribute to the original version of KHTNV, while the author who is writing the canon stories mentions that Sonic will appear after KHII.
  • Adaptational Late Appearance: And also a contradiction to the canon stories which is inverse of being revealed months later, AnKN has Paper Mario appear later mentioned in the Dream Drop Distance storyline, while the main canon stories shows that Paper Mario appears in the first story in playing the role of the 100 Acre Wood world.
  • Big Bad: Dharkon in the first one-shot, and Juzo Mido in the second one-shot.
  • Crossover: With Akane no Mai.
  • Shout-Out: The author who did this duology is a Yu-Gi-Oh! fan, and so he puts a lot of references to it. One is Lance and his Dragonites tribute Kaiba and his Blue-Eyes, and the nicknames (Azrael, Ibris, and Djibril) came from Yu-Gi-Oh! The Falsebound Kingdom. Clair's Dragonite is named Kisara. Hilbert's Thundurus, Tornadus, and Landorus's nicknames are based on the Egyptian God Cards. Even Reshiram and Zekrom are obviously nicknamed the Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes respectively. Sora, Joker, and Queenslayer teaming up loosely reminds of the plot of Yu-Gi-Oh!: Bonds Beyond Time.
  • Team-Up Series: This is where we see the Nintendo Trinity teaming up with the Phantom Thieves in the first one-shot, alongside the Code Vein protagonist in the second one.
