Kingdom Mutant Tropes Attack!
- Author Appeal: RogueFanKC likes having families fight together. It's why his version of the West Coast Misfits are mainly comprised of two mutant families lumped together: the Starr family and the Wildfire Brothers.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Members of the West Coast Misfits, in the rare times they actually appear in the main story, tend to be on the receiving end of this.
- Cliffhanger Ending: Chapter 42 ends with this, and it ended up the last chapter written before the story went on permanent hiatus.
- Darkest Hour: The beginning of MoT feels very much like this.
- Dead Fic: Very much so. Mutants of Twilight has not been updated since 2013. RogueFanKC decided to stop writing the fic after a bad falling out with a former friend whose characters he was using. He has written other stories since then (last was in 2019), but as of December 2024, he has never returned to finish the story.
- Deconstruction: Dazzled in Dallas is meant to be one of the heroes' winning the Gathering of Twilight.
- Dishing Out Dirt: Lance "Avalanche" Alvers, naturally.
- Doorstopper: 42 chapters, and over 800,000 words long. The story was originally intended to have 85-90 chapters.
- Expy: The Superstars, the mutant rock band introduced in Box Lunch Bruisings, is meant to be inspired by KISS. To help underline this, the group perform songs by the band in the one-shot.
- Fully Absorbed Finale: In 2022, the Infinity Crisis multiverse one-shot The Last Archer gives this story an ending by revealing that the universe of this fanfic, or at least a universe based on it, was destroyed by the Anti-Monitor, with Red Dragon being one of the few survivors and ending up a companion of the Fugitive Doctor.
- Green-Eyed Monster: The X-Men start getting this badly when members of the Misfits start getting Keyblades.
- In Jealousy Like Lightning, it's established that Kyle "Thunderbolt" Wildfire becomes INSANELY jealous of Todd Tolensky because Todd got an electric-powered Keyblade, and Kyle gets weapons to fight the Heartless with.
- Hate Curse: Justin "Whitelighter" Moore is shown to be under one of these in A Light in the Heart of a Misfit.
- Massive Multiplayer Crossover: This story brings in characters from not just the Marvel Universe, but also characters from the DC Animated Universe, 'Dinosaucers'', and many other things.
- Playing with Fire: There is Amara Aquilla/Magma of course, as part of her geokinetic powers.
- Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch also gets a Fire-type Keyblade.
- Jake "Red Dragon" Wildfire of the West Coast Misfits can breathe fire (having a dragon-themed mutation), but he's never seen using that power in ''MoT''-verse stories due to him never getting an action scene. He does get to be shown using his powers in the Infinity Crisis stories The Last Archer and IC Challenge! Chapter 2: Pink Lightning!.
- Time Skip: A minor one between chapters 41 and 42.
