On that fateful night, Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki did battle, ending with the later horribly scarred and the later alone and in grief. He moves to New York, and a chance encounter with a strange individual and a canister of ooze changes his life forever.
That was just one turtle-verse among many others.
In this version, Tang Shen survived. She and her husband Hamato Yoshi move to New York, without their daughter, hoping to start fresh. Instead, Yoshi is mutated into a rat and now they can't live amongst humans. Not only that, but they wind up with four mutated turtles whom they take as their daughters.

- Alternate Universe Fic: The premise of the story is "what if Tang Shen lived and the turtles were girls?"
- Gender Flip: While the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were all boys in the source material, here they are all girls. With differing chromosomes comes an Adaptation Name Change; Leonardo is now Artemisia ("Misa"), Donatello is now Sofonisba ("Sofie"), Raphael is Lavinia ("Vini") and Michelangelo is Elisabetta ("Ellie").
- Named After Somebody Famous: Much like their canon counterparts, the turtles are all named after artists from the Renaissance. Being women in this version, their names were changed to "the overshadowed women of the Renaissance; Sofonisba, Elisabetta, Lavinia, and Artemisia."
- In-Series Nickname: Much like her husband, Tang Shen goes by her own nickname, her's being "Sliver."
- Shout-Out: In Chapter 4, the movies the turtles watch are never named, but the synopsis of their plots imply that they are Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island and Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost.
- Spared by the Adaptation: Unlike in canon, the Shredder didn't kill Tang Shen.
- Token Human: Out of everyone in the Hamato Clan, Tang Shen is the only one of them who wasn't mutated, her husband becoming the rat man Splinter and their daughters being four mutant turtles.
