This fic provides examples of:
- Adaptational Name Change: Jon Snow is called Jaehaerys Targaryen.
- Adapted Out: Outside of Rickon and Arya, the other Stark children aren't in this story.
- Robb and Sansa do exist, but they are the children of Elbert Arryn and Catelyn Tully, making them Robb Arryn and Sansa Arryn.
- Bond Creatures: The Targaryens have their dragons, and the Starks have their direwolves.
- Jaehaerys, as both a Targaryen and a Stark, has a direwolf, Ghost, and a dragon, Nyx.
- Brother–Sister Incest: The main relationship of the story is Jaehaerys and Rhaenys, who are half-siblings.
- Its implied that the Lannister twins, Jaime and Cersei, have been, or are currently still in a sexual relationship. In fact, Cersei's children with Edmure Tully are implied to actually be Jaime's children. Unlike with the Targaryens, this is not okay.
- Canon Foreigner:
- Aegon and Daenerys' daughter, Alyssa Targaryen.

- The Chooser of the One: Melisandre names a yet unnamed man as Azor Ahai reborn.
- Covered with Scars: Rhaenys Targaryen has scars all over her body. She hides them by wearing dresses with high neck lines and long sleeves, along with gloves.
- Death by Childbirth: Elia Martell died giving birth to Aegon, and Lyanna Stark giving birth to Jaehaerys.
- Dragon Rider: Jaehaerys, Rhaenys, and Daenerys Targaryen.
- Embarrassing Nickname:
- Viserys Targaryen gives Joffrey Tully the name "Goldfish", on account of his Lannister and Tully heritage.
- Brandon Stark calls Theon Greyjoy an "Ironborn rat" once, and the name sticks, leading others to also use the name.
- Harping on About Harpies: Unlike in canon where harpies are merely mythological beasts, in this story harpies are very much real, and where used by the Ghiscari Empire, who see them as their gods, to take over almost all of Essos west of the Bone Mountains.
- Irrational Hatred: Doran and Oberyn Martell hated Rhaegar Targaryen due to him not leaving a long enough mourning period after their sister, Elia Martell, died before marrying his second wife, Lyanna Stark. This hatred passes over to his son with Lyanna, Jaehaerys Targaryen.
- Last Bastion: Braavos is the last remaining city in Essos west of the Bone Mountains not to be taken over by the Ghiscari Empire.
- Past Experience Nightmare: Jaehaerys has recurring nightmares about the terrible acts he committed during the Battle for the Wall.
- Spared By Adaptation: Due to no Robert's Rebellion in this story, there are many characters still alive in this story. These characters include: Aegon Targaryen, Rhaenys Targaryen, Rhaella Targaryen, Brandon Stark, Arthur Dayne, Oswell Whent, Jonothor Darry, Lewyn Martell, and Ashara Dayne.
- The Squire: Rickon Stark is Jaehaerys Targaryen's squire.
