Firebird (also found here), is a crossover fanfic written by chibipoe, who also wrote the A Certain Magical Index / Worm crossover: Acceleration.

In this story, Taylor gains a great power, but not the power to control insects like she originally could. This power is far greater than anything Earth Bet has ever seen. But for now, the Phoenix slumbers.

The story hasn't been updated since January 4, 2017.

Firebird provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Instead of the power to control bugs, Taylor gains Jean Grey's powers. She eventually taps into the power of the Phoenix Force and curb-stomps the Simurgh, then resurrects everyone that died in her battle immediately after.
    • Madison is Browbeat here rather than a normal high-school girl.
  • Adaptational Heroism:
    • Taylor never becomes one of the Undersiders here and does everything she can to be an independent hero.
    • Madison is the hero, Browbeat, and is trying to make up for what she did with the Trio.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Glory Girl is much nicer here, and she even becomes Taylor's best friend.
  • Adults Are Useless:
    • The Winslow teachers are pretty much worthless when it comes to stopping the trio's bullying campaign, and actively seem to be against Taylor when it comes to the issue. Thankfully, Colin Singer (AKA Armsmaster) completely averts this and puts his foot down. He pretty much singlehandedly puts a stop to their little campaign and sets everything straight.
    • Alan Barnes also averts this, and wastes no time punishing his daughter when he learns of all the things she did.
  • The Alcoholic: Danny turns to alcoholism once Taylor runs away.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Despite Taylor's relationship with her father being destroyed, possibly past the point of repair, he's one of the people that the Simurgh targets in their fight to keep Taylor off balance.
  • Back from the Dead: After her battle with the Simurgh, Taylor uses the Phoenix's power to resurrect everyone that died after her battle with Simurgh. This amounts to almost the entire population of Brockton Bay.
  • Clark Kenting: Despite her identity being public knowledge, Taylor had no idea that Vicky was Glory Girl until later. This is largely because she never bothered to ask for a last name.
  • Climactic Battle Resurrection: This happens following Taylor's battle with the Simurgh, where Brockton Bay is wiped out as collateral damage. This leads Taylor to finally come into her own as a Phoenix host and bring everyone who was killed in the fighting back to life.
  • Composite Character:
    • Taylor gains the power-set of Jean Grey and becomes the host for the Phoenix Force.
    • Madison is Browbeat.
  • Dead Fic: The story hasn't been updated in years, and it's shown no sign of continuing.
  • Easily Forgiven: Despite all Emma did, after seeing her bruised and beaten in the hospital, Taylor can't bring herself to feel any malice toward her and accepts her apology.
  • Entertainingly Wrong:
    • Since Taylor's powers are derived from her connection to the Phoenix Force and not a shard, it makes it impossible to label her as a Parahuman. All of Sophia's attempts to convince others that she is completely fail.
    • Given that the PRT has never encountered a cosmic entity such as the Phoenix Force before, they are under the impression that it's some kind of powerful pyrokinetic manifestation rather than a universal entity with the power to rewrite the laws of reality on a whim.
    • As Taylor's powers grow and she develops more and more, Vicky develops the impression that she simply has an Adaptive Ability.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Coil wanted a pet psychic. The Phoenix vaporizes him the moment it has the chance.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Amy starts to become jealous of Taylor for getting to spend so much time with Vicky.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After kidnapping Taylor on Coil's behalf, Trickster has a crisis of conscience which eventually causes him to lead the Travelers in one of these.
  • Heroic RRoD: After Taylor uses the Phoenix Force to resurrect everyone in Brockton Bay after her battle with Simurgh, she blacks out.
  • It's All My Fault: Armsmaster believes that it was due to his mishandling of Taylor's situation that her relationship with her father is wrecked and she runs away from home.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Thanks to Armsmaster going undercover as a teacher at Winslow, the trio's bullying campaign is exposed, Emma receives punishment from her father and her entire social life crumbles, and Sophia is later taken into custody for attempting to kill Taylor on school grounds.
  • Mind Manipulation: One of Taylor's abilities. She inadvertently used it on Mr. Gladly, forcing him to annoy the rest of the class while she left.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: As her connection to the Phoenix Force grows, Taylor starts developing more and more powers out of nowhere. She sums it up best:
    Taylor: Powers are bullshit.
  • Parents as People: After agreeing to discuss joining the Wards with Taylor before making a final decision, Danny decides to sign her up anyway because he fears for her life after finding out on the news that she was in a Cape fight and feels that the Wards can better protect her in ways that he can't. This backfires horribly.
  • Pet the Dog: After the Travelers free Taylor from Coil, the Phoenix cures Noel in return.
  • Playing with Fire: While taking her anger out in the Boat Graveyard, Taylor spontaneously develops these abilities. This is treated as a serious problem since the PRT is roaming about the city looking for anyone with these kinds of powers.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Downplayed in that it doesn't kill anyone, but a lot of Taylor's later issues with her father after he tries to sign her up for the Wards could be mitigated if she just flat out tells him why she doesn't want to be a member (Shadow Stalker was a member who used this benefit to bully her unchecked, so she doesn't trust them).
  • Reasonable Authority Figure:
    • Despite Taylor's hostile attitude toward him, Armsmaster comes across as this. He's completely upfront about what the PRT believed in regards to her, and even tells her that she doesn't have to join the Wards, but they can provide protection if she would prefer. He's also shown to disagree with Piggot's attempts to forcibly bring her into the Wards.
    • Piggot herself would prefer to let Taylor be, but is legally required to bring Taylor in to the Wards due to Danny submitting the paperwork.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Instead of Dinah, Coil targets Taylor.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Sophia was bad enough already, but just the thought of Taylor actually enjoying life and not knowing "her place" is enough for her to attempt to kill her just to set everything right in her worldview.
  • Wrong Context Magic: Since the Phoenix Force is an immortal cosmic reality warper, not a lot of people know what to make of it and rationalize it in there own ways.
