Doom: Repercussions of Evil Mark II
is a Recursive Fanfiction based on the Troll Fic DOOM: Repercussions of Evil. It takes the original story and rewrites it into a coherent narrative.
John Stalvern, one of Earth's greatest space marines, had wanted to serve his planet all his life, like his father, Steven Stalvern. But when Steven's brain was scrambled by a slug while John was five, resulting in him becoming insane, John's childhood was never quite the same happy time afterwards.
Now older, he finds himself on a ship invaded by demons, and it is his job to kill them. But in the process, he might discover something from his past...
This fanfic contains examples of:
- Alien Blood: The demons bleed "blackish, acidic blood" when Squashed Flat.
- And Then John Was a Zombie: As in the original, the fic ends with John becoming a zombie.
- Bad Boss: The Cyberdemon callously crushes one of his subordinates with his hand for making "idle chatter" with John.
- Downer Ending: As in the original, John becomes a zombie- and this is after he remembers that he abandoned his father to die at the hands of the demons.
- Shout-Out: The demons are referred to as being from “Giger’s worst nightmares”.
- Training from Hell: Though not shown, John had gone through this offscreen.The concept of fear had been eradicated in him long ago by countless drills and exercises designed to burn away all that was weak and soft and human, leaving behind only a killing machine as sharp as a razor's blade.
- Wham Line: Two of them.
- First, John is wandering through the dark base, with nothing in sight, until:Something growled beside him.
- At the end, when speaking to the thing in the radio, it says this:"You killed your father, John. You are the demon."
