This fic contains examples of:
- After the End: Destiny's Collapse happened at some point previously. It was slightly different, however. There having been a different apocalypse shortly beforehand called The Cataclysm, which vaguely correspond to the events of Evangelion.
- Alternate Universe Fic: To both franchises. There is the fact the Shinji and Asuka haven't even met.
- Cataclysm Backstory: Appropriately called The Cataclysm. The events of Evangelion happened near the start of it, and it directly preceded the Collapse.
- Fusion Fic: Elements from both franchise influence the other:
- Adam and The Traveller are one and the same, with the Katsuragi Expedition and Second Impact having been the start of the Golden Age.
- Ahamkara were apparently involved in The Cataclysm, and Shinji fought them.
- All of the Fallen Houses are named after the Angels.
- The factions of The City are now named after Eva factions (SEELE, NERV, etc.).
- Fish out of Temporal Water: The crux of the plot: Shinji has become a Guardian, and thus has to adjust to the millennium-long time gap.
- Forever War: According to the author, The Cataclysm lasted for ~100 years. The Collapse lasted for three centuries, and the time since has been close to eight centuries.
- Great Offscreen War: The Cataclysm and the Collapse.
- Science Fantasy: The fic has its genre listed under science and fantasy on FFN.
