Delinquent Dragon Emperor is a High School D×D fanfic by Melkor's Mercy, writer of White.

Issei manifests the Boosted Gear and runs into Great Red much earlier than canon, kickstarting a chain of events that leads to him becoming a lot stronger and assertive. Now with greater knowledge of the supernatural, he is ready to take on his rival, the White Dragon Emperor, and anything that the supernatural can throw at him

The fic has been dead since July 2, 2020 with 14 chapters and 202,801 words.

This fanfic provides examples of:

  • Above Good and Evil: Dragons are the ultimate personifications of power and freedom, bowing to no individual or rule regardless of morality unless one gains their respect.
  • Adaptational Badass: Issei's a great deal stronger than canon thanks to awakening his Sacred Gear ahead of time and meeting Great Red earlier in life, giving him greater combat and magic skills through his training with Great Red.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance:
    • Serafall shows up much earlier here at an anime convention, whereas she only appeared by the Three Factions Summit in canon.
    • Irina and Xenovia are sent on their mission to retrieve the Excaliburs way before Kokabiel even reveals himself.
    • Gasper Vladi shows up before the Three Factions Summit even takes place as an active member of Rias' peerage at the time of the Phenex Rating Game.
    • Crom Cruach appears under the alias "Mr. Black" when Issei participates in a street race on behalf of a Yakuza family, far before the events of the war against the Khaos Brigade.
    • Ingvild Leviathan also appears much earlier, while in canon she only appeared in the later volumes.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Considering what the title is, Issei has more of an attitude than canon thanks to his lifestyle as a yanki.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Raynare, Dohnaseek, Kalawarner, and Mittlet are not as antagonistic towards Issei, though the fact that Issei is powerful enough to easily wipe the floor with them plays a big part in them deciding to stay on his good side.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Due to Kokabiel never being there to manipulate her, Raynare never kills Asia for her Sacred Gear and even reports Kokabiel's treachery to Azazel when she finds out about it.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Downplayed; Tiamat cares nothing for the Khaos Brigade's goals despite being an unofficial member.
  • Adaptation Species Change: Issei becomes a humanoid dragon much earlier than canon after hanging out with Great Red instead of becoming a Devil.
  • All Men Are Perverts: Issei invokes this by pretending to hit on Riser's peerage and point out Riser's bad taste in women to get a reaction out of him.
  • Antagonistic Offspring: Vali, despite being a member of the Old Satan Faction due to her heritage, cares not for its goals and tells Issei that she has no love for her dead father nor her grandfather Rizevim because of their heinous crimes. She even states that she would have already killed Rizevim had Ophis told her not to do that.
  • Badass Biker: Issei and Great Red can kick a lot of ass and are big fans of motorcycles.
  • Big Brother Worship: Issei calls Ravel "one of those overly attached imoutos" after she tries to defend Riser from Issei's insults, with Ravel only able to yell "shut up!" in response since her behavior is exactly what Issei is talking about.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Gabriel doesn't even register Issei's sarcasm towards her unwanted visit at his house and ends up believing that he's a Nice Guy who appreciates her company, much to his chagrin.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Issei tears Diodora into pieces for all of his crimes before his soul is stuck in a pocket dimension to suffer for eternity.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Freed is unceremoniously incinerated after Issei interrogates him on Valper's plans and Asia's whereabouts.
    • Riser and his peerage are utterly wrecked by Issei after he decides to help Rias escape her arranged marriage, giving Riser serious trauma over his defeat before Ravel helps him snap out of it.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation
    • Freed is incinerated by Issei after the rogue exorcist confesses to Valper's plans with the Excaliburs and the whereabouts of Asia Argento.
    • Diodora is ripped to shreds by Issei before he gets his soul stuck in a pocket dimension.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • As much as Issei doesn't like Rias, even he agrees that Riser is simply that much of a Jerkass after seeing the Phenex heir's unwanted advances towards Rias and overblown ego.
    • As Issei explains to Riser, while he may have been an asshole, he was only beaten up because he wasn't that bad of a person beyond his arrogant posturing. Diodora, on the other hand, was a complete scumbag who attempted to kidnap, enslave, and rape Xenovia and Irina, and was thus killed by Issei for his heinous crimes.
  • Exact Words: When questioned on how he managed to get so powerful, he simply responds by telling others that the Red Dragon Emperor trained him. That is, the Great Red God-Emperor of Dragons.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: Ravel pressgangs Riser to go to Issei's home so he can talk it out with him and get over his trauma of getting defeated by Issei.
  • Groin Attack: Diodora's genitalia are simultaneously crushed and incinerated by Issei while the humanoid dragon is torturing him to death.
  • Humble Pie: Riser gets one after Issei defeats him, resulting in him losing his ego and deciding to directly apologize to Issei for everything he did before.
  • I Just Want to Be Badass: Saiji requests that Issei train him in utilizing his Vritra Sacred Gear more effectively so he can be strong enough to fulfill his duties as a member of Sona's peerage. Issei responds by telling him to get stronger not to impress his boss, but to better himself.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal:
    • Issei just wants to finish high school and enjoy his life before taking on the White Dragon Emperor as destiny demands him to do, but unfortunately for him, the supernatural world isn't exactly keen on leaving him be.
    • Serafall states that the reason why she's such a big fan of magical girl anime is because she never had a chance to live a normal childhood thanks to her parents grooming her as the heir to their house, and coming into contact with everything related to magical girls allowed her to be free of the expectations placed upon her.
  • Incest Subtext: Issei insinuates that Riser has a thing for his little sister given that Ravel is a member of Riser's peerage/harem, forcing Riser to angrily state that no, he's not into Ravel.
  • I Shall Taunt You: Issei delivers a verbal beatdown laced with Refuge in Audacity regarding Riser's masculinity and peerage. See All Men Are Perverts and Incest Subtext above for further details
  • Jerkass Gods: Thor freely admits that the Norse gods were not nice people while visiting Kuoh in disguise with Rossweisse.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold:
    • Even as a delinquent, Issei is ultimately at good person at heart who just wants to enjoy his life without getting involved in supernatural politics.
    • Great Red, in spite of his loud and brash personality, is fine with chilling in the Dimensional Gap and not causing any trouble.
  • Order Versus Chaos: Downplayed; Great Red mentions that God wasn't terribly fond of dragons since they embodied chaos to his order, but otherwise didn't go out of his way to antagonize them.
  • Proud Warrior Race Girl: Vali holds a good amount of pride towards her nature as a devil of the house of Lucifer and how she fought tooth and nail to get to where she is, having nothing but disdain for the current Satans for taking up the names of the devils they overthrew and trying to ignore their heritage as warriors.
  • Refuge in Audacity:
    • Issei trolls Riser by pointing out how Riser's so-called "harem" is quite droll compared to the women Issei has come into contact with.
    • His threat to either call in Serafall Leviathan or Archangel Gabriel unless the Hero Faction releases Yasaka can also count given how most people wouldn't reveal that they know two of the highest authorities in the supernatural world as casually as Issei did.
  • Reality Warper: Issei displays the ability to make dreams real during his fight against Ajuka Beelzebub, using his draconic powers to bring illusions into reality.
  • Shout-Out: Many of Issei's attacks are based on those from Dragon Ball Z and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Downplayed; while Great Red is not an evil person by any stretch, his belligerent and brash mannerisms end up rubbing off on Issei.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Issei is quite well-muscled thanks to his rough and tumble lifestyle, making him prime eye candy whenever he loses his top-wear.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Issei reassures Riser in Chapter 10 that he can get stronger to protect those who actually care about him and improve himself as a person instead of trying to impress others.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Issei is not amused to learn from Sona that the Gremory-Phenex Rating Game was broadcast throughout Hell on TV while he didn't even know he was being recorded. Him realizing that Sona and Serafall are related does not help in the slightest.
