Danny Phantom Vs The Paranormal
(aka: Danny Phantom Vs The Kentucky Goblins)

Go To

A collection of post-series Danny Phantom fanfics created by NeoMark. It is planned to have eight stories (originally four).

Based on a series of posters in which Danny battles non-ghostly entities, which occurred due to NeoMark being a fan of Bedtime Stories (YouTube Channel), the series is set after Phantom Planet, where Danny, in a story where he keeps his secret identity, comes across other paranormal creatures and finds himself tangled in whatever evil schemes they're in.

The first story is Danny Phantom vs The Kentucky Goblins, in which an email brings the Fentons to Kentucky and Danny investigates a supposed attack by the iconic creatures of the Kelly-Hopkinsville Encounter. It can be found here.

The second story is Danny Phantom vs The Wendigo, in which the family is invited to Canada for all-expenses paid trip in return for dealing with a supposed ghost attack, only for Sam to suggest it's the fabled Wendigo. It can be found here.

The third story is Danny Phantom vs The Beast of Gévaudan, in which Alicia asks the Fentons to go to France to look for the beast. It can be found here.

The fourth story is “Danny Phantom vs The Rock Apes”, where the Fentons and various hunters around the world are invited to Vietnam for a special job. It can be found here.

     In General
  • Accidental Kiss: A recurring trope in many of Flower princess11 and NeoMark's fanfics. Danny trips, falls towards a girl and accidentally kisses her lips or cheek. He’s just lucky these are girls who already think he’s cute.
    • In Kentucky Goblins, he accidentally kisses Sally May.
    • In Wendigo, he accidentally kisses Ember.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • Kwan becomes friendlier to Team Phantom after establishing a sort of Odd Friendship with Sam.
    • Star becomes more grateful to Danny and his ghost-half after being rescued from a revenant-cursed Paulina and the Wendigo respectively, and begins trying to shed her Beta Bitch behavior.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Kwan and Sam didn’t interact much in canon except when they begrudgingly hung out together while he was temporarily kicked out of the A-Listers to make room for Danny, but Sam did not enjoy the experience to the point she avoided Kwan and was glad when it ended. Here, they start to form an Odd Friendship.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Danielle quickly latches onto the Fentons for welcoming her as one of their own into their family.
  • Big Eater: Dani inherited Jack’s appetite.
  • Bully Turned Buddy:
    • Kwan eventually buries the hatchet with Team Phantom after bonding with Sam when they form an Odd Friendship, and Team Phantom take Sam and Valerie’s word on his good character.
    • After Danny saves her from a Wendigo-cursed Paulina in “Danny Phantom Vs The Wendigo”, Star becomes more cordial to Team Phantom.
  • Character Check: Kwan became more of a generic bully like the rest of the A-Listers in later seasons of the show. In this series, he goes back to how he was in season 1, being a somewhat nice guy who is cowed by peer pressure from the popular kids.
  • Chick Magnet: As usual, Danny. He is dating Sam, had a past relationship with Valerie, Paulina liked him as the ghost boy, and he immediately attracts Sally May when she first sees him. In Wendigo, he attracts Ember.
  • Cryptid Episode: Unlike the actual series that dealt primarily with ghosts, each story has featured a notable cryptid or creature from real-life legends and lore as the villain.
  • Cute Ghost Girl: Dani is a rather precious half ghost child.
  • Darker and Edgier: The series gets progressively grimmer as it introduces monsters who have no problem taking human lives. It troubles Danny that the only solution to stopping them is outright killing them.
  • Happily Adopted: The Fentons adopted Danielle as their daughter and she deeply loves them.
  • Hates My Secret Identity: The A-Listers (especially Dash and Paulina) bully Danny Fenton but worship Danny Phantom.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Dani forms one with Team Phantom who are at least a decade older than her since she’s only existed for about a year.
  • Little Miss Badass: Dani is just a child and pretty inexperienced with her ghost powers, but is almost as powerful as Danny.
  • Little Miss Snarker: Dani is just as quippy and snarky as Danny.
  • Nice Girl: Dani is sweet, bubbly, and just as compassionate and heroic as Danny. Even when she acts out and makes mistakes, she makes up for them.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: Concerning the original Team Phantom, Danny is the Nice as he’s the friendliest and most easygoing, Sam’s the Mean since she’s the most surly and negative, and Tucker’s the In-Between since he’s nicer than Sam but not as charming as Danny.
  • Odd Friendship: Sam eventually forms one with Kwan when they start hanging out.
  • Outside-Context Problem: The series has Danny dealing with non-ghostly threats.
  • Secret-Keeper: Valerie, Jack, Maddie, and the team from Antarctica agree to keep Danny’s secret out of gratitude for him stopping the Disasteroid from hitting Earth.
  • Sequel Hook: The last chapter of each story has Rich hinting where the next adventure will take place.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Dani has Jack’s Big Eater tendencies and Danny’s Bizarre Taste in Food like weird smoothies, much to Jazz’s revulsion.
  • Status Quo Is God: Other than the Fentons adopting Dani, Valerie and Danny’s parents finding out about his secret identity, and Tucker losing his position as mayor, nothing has changed from the main series. Although, Danny briefly dates Sam before they break up and remain as friends.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Danny has become more willing to use lethal force when he contends with much worse threats than his usual rogues gallery, such as the Kentucky Goblins and the Wendigo.
  • Took a Level in Kindness:
    • Valerie drops her grudge with Danny after finding out his secret identity and remains friends with Team Phantom.
    • Kwan and Star are working on becoming nicer to Team Phantom after getting to know them better. While Sam, Tucker, and Danny have become fine with hanging out with Kwan, they initially do not feel the same way regarding Star.
    • Sam eventually begins growing more understanding and open-minded, enough to recognize and make up for her mistakes, befriend other people, and not get in the way of Danny's new relationships.
  • True Companions: Team Phantom will go through thick and thin for each other, including Sam despite her screw-ups and flaws.
  • Turned Off by the Jerkass: Danny has thoroughly lost interest in Paulina because of her insufferably bitchy personality so she has basically become a statue to him now—see Wasted Beauty below.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Dani isn’t as experienced as Danny when it comes to using her ghost powers.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Danny came up with the plan in Phantom Planet to make the Earth intangible to save it from destruction. While he saved the world and deserved the recognition he received, it also indirectly caused non-ghost creatures, the Paranormal Entities, to become aware of him and rise in danger, creating smaller but more direct problems that threaten to kill people.

Danny Phantom Vs The Kentucky Goblins
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Sally May is smitten with Danny, ignoring that he has a girlfriend. While she's very pretty, Danny is uncomfortable with her being so clingy.
  • Accidental Kiss: Danny trips and accidentally kisses Sally May, which only intensifies her crush on him.
  • Adaptational Dumbass: Sam is far more reckless and foolhardy here than in canon since she makes numerous poorly thought-out decisions that only result in disaster.
  • Adaptational Jerkass:
    • While Sam’s flaws have been more prominent in NeoMark's stories, this version of her really drives it home. She is portrayed as a rather controlling girlfriend who is uncompromising and makes Danny do what SHE wants all the time, including forcing him to go vegetarian. At the end, however, Sam admits she wasn't trying to be controlling, she was just overzealous in sharing what she loves with Danny in hopes he'll feel the same way.
    • Though Aunt Alicia only appeared in one episode where she openly disapproves of Jack and Maddie's marriage, she had understandable reasons such as Jack's foolishness, obsession with ghost hunting causing him to neglect Maddie (the conflict of the B-Plot was him forgetting their anniversary for the 15th year in a row) and forgetfulness. Aside from that, she respects Maddie's intelligence and it is hinted (by Maddie arranging to have Alicia's ex-husband in a dunk tank at least) she might have had legitimate grievances with her ex-husband. She also argued with her sister that being single and independent is better than being married to someone who causes her grief. Here, Alicia's main reason for opposing Maddie's marriage is because she, like the rest of their family, hates the idea of Maddie being married to a city-person, and though she still thinks Jack is a fool and resents him for his ghost-hunting (while still thinking ghosts don't exist), those seem to just be additional reasons. Also, rather than argue that Maddie would be happier being single, her argument is that she should have married Vlad Masters. Even after Maddie tells her he was a sociopath who saw her as a trophy, Alicia still insists, not because she thinks Maddie would be happier but because she would prefer that her sister be married to someone who's rich and has a place in the country. It's also stated that Alicia's marriage didn't work out because of her unwillingness to compromise and she shows nothing but disdain to Maddie's children as well as Jack. Overall, she is portrayed as being completely unreasonable, spiteful, and incredibly stubborn.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: Zigzagged at first since the Kentucky Goblins didn't originally come to Earth to invade and simply wanted to return to their world. However, they want to experiment on humans, considering themselves superior. Eventually, they grew so resentful of Earth that they decided to bring an invasion fleet out of spite.
  • All-Loving Hero: Sam refuses to kill or hurt any living creature, even animals or aliens. Unfortunately, this bites her later.
  • All for Nothing:
    • Sam opposed the Fentons' idea to create a small fire to scare the aliens off to avoid depriving animals of their homes. However, the actions she took afterwards resulted in a full-blown forest fire that they needed help to control.
    • Near the end of the story, Zeb and Zeke, while working together to put out a fire, realize their fighting these last few decades have been pointless.
  • All Take and No Give: Sam expects others to compromise for the sake of her own agenda but refuses to do so in return, which severely strains her friendship with Team Phantom and the Fentons. Worse, her stubbornness when the heroes disagree with her ideas puts everyone in danger when she chooses to visit the goblins alone to try to negotiate, only for them to refuse and attack.
  • All Women Are Lustful: Sally May loves smothering Danny with kisses, not that she notices his discomfort with it.
  • Amicable Exes: Downplayed but while Sam’s thoughtless actions made Danny break up with her and strained their relationship, they still agree to be friends.
  • The Atoner: In the end, Sam apologizes to everyone for her stubbornness and foolishness as she resolves to work on her flaws.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Danielle stops trying to be nice to Alicia when she says Maddie should have married Vlad. After everything he’s done to them, saying nice things about Vlad Masters is a good way to get all the Fentons to turn on you.
    • Maddie, who has put up with her family's (mainly Alicia’s) criticisms towards her husband, twists Alicia’s arm after her sister suggests that she spank Danielle after the incident above.
    • Alicia hates being called "bitter". Even though she is...
  • Better as Friends:
    • Sally May settles for being friends with Danny. That said, she still has a soft spot for him.
    • Danny and Sam at the end, deciding they aren't truly ready for a romantic relationship.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: When rescuing Sam, Danny is so furious with her that he coldly shuts down her attempts to act defiant and justify her actions, all while giving her a Death Glare that genuinely intimidates her into backing down.
  • Bittersweet Ending: While everyone returns home alive in the end, and Zeb and Zeke have finally put their feud to rest which will hopefully allow at least some of their family members to end the Cycle of Revenge, Sam’s selfish and reckless actions have ruined her romance with Danny and strained her relationship with everyone else, Sally May fails to win Danny over, and Maddie has severed ties with most of her family.
  • Blackmail: Maddie gets Virginia (and by extension, the rest of their family) to help them put out the forest fire by threatening to tell the police that she puts cold serum in her moonshine.
  • Book Dumb: Danny couldn’t tell if an explosion that could reach 200 miles was BAD or not.
Maddie: Pay more attention in class.
  • "Both Sides Have a Point" Remark: Maddie holds a grudge against Sam for convincing Danny to keep his parents in the dark about his powers, especially since the goth was projecting her own parents onto the Fentons. While Danny understands his mother's anger, he also points out that she and Jack didn't come off as accepting due to their belief that all ghosts were monsters who needed to be wasted, which Maddie is forced to agree with.
  • Broken Pedestal: While Danny still cares about Sam at the end, he admits he’s not sure if he can trust her anymore and has become more aware of her flaws which can be detrimental to those around her and make them incompatible as a couple: her uncompromising stubbornness to the point of only budging in literal life-or-death situations, how she distances herself from people besides him and Tucker, and her refusal to even try to meet her parents halfway.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Danielle snaps at all the McKirks for their treatment of Jack and not respecting Maddie's choices. They brush her off for being a child (Alicia even calls her a brat) and a Fenton.
  • Cassandra Truth: When Alicia says that Maddie should have married Vlad, both Maddie and Danielle try telling her that he was a sociopath who would have treated Maddie like a trophy, was a horrible person, and would sooner have bought their family land and kicked them out than try to get along with them like Jack does. She just brushes this off as Danielle being a brat and Maddie being unreasonable.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Sally May is a Rare Female Example. Her attempts to get closer to Danny only make him avoid her more since he doesn’t appreciate her invading her personal space or kissing him without his consent.
  • Central Theme: A refusal to compromise, no matter how morally right you may be, is not admirable when it interferes with something important or endangers others, especially when the people involved are those closest to you. Sometimes, compromise is necessary. A recurring problem that most of the characters besides Danny, his immediate family, Sally May, and Tucker have is that they are stubborn and refuse to compromise, which damages their relationships with those around them. The goblins themselves refuse to compromise their resentment towards Earth and reject any peaceful solutions.
  • Children Are Innocent: Danielle doesn't know what moonshine is and Alicia refrains from telling her she was drunk during the Disasteroid incident by claiming that she was out cold from drinking soda.
  • Clone Degeneration: The goblins relied on cloning to maintain their numbers. However, years of reusing the same DNA has caused the current batch to be more childish in nature.
  • Contempt Crossfire:
    • Some of Maddie's family members are condescending and rude (or outright spiteful in Alicia's case) towards Danny, Jazz, and Danielle because they are city people and Fentons. However, they at least try to be civil with them and the only one who truly doesn’t like them for being Jack's kids is Alicia.
    • Word of God is that the main reason the McKirks resent the Hackfords is because the Hackfords were rude to them for their relation to Zeke. As a result, they hate the Hackfords and are intent on "winning in the end".
  • Crippling Overspecialization: As it turns out, Danny is very knowledgeable on alien encounters, theories, and sightings. Not only is he the most knowledgeable on the Kelly-Hopkinsville Encounter, he's also familiar with the alien encounters in Varginha, right down to getting the pronunciation of the name right. This is not a case of Brilliant, but Lazy, as Danny explains fighting ghosts gives him little time for schoolwork. Still, this is the first time in his life of fighting ghosts that his knowledge of aliens and the theories behind them that no one else knew of before is put to actual use.
  • Culture Clash: None of Maddie's country-bumpkin family like city-folk and hate that she married Jack (ghost hunting aside) because he "took" her to the city. Though rather than accept that Maddie wanted to live in the city, they tell themselves that Jack corrupted her.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: The McKirk clan in general is incredibly petty, vindictive, spiteful, xenophobic, stubborn, and arrogant but Alicia is extra "bitter" because of her failed marriage. However, the reason her marriage didn't work out is because she was uncompromising with her husband and only let things get done her way. Rather than acknowledge that, Alicia acts like it was all her ex-husband's fault and continues to be this way with her sister Maddie. Not to mention taking it out on those around her, especially her sister's children.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Ma-Jinoh has a pretty dry wit, such as when he agrees with Sam’s assessment that she’s an idiot for visiting the goblins alone to try to negotiate with them, only to step into a trap, and suggests Danny find a new mate.
  • Deconstruction: Dash can get away with his bullying at school because of favoritism but not at public places like the bookstore, where he’s thrown out by security for threatening Team Phantom.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Sam’s plan to try to talk the Kentucky Goblins into leaving peacefully doesn’t work because she didn’t bother to consider that they CAN’T be reasoned with. Going to meet with them unarmed and alone without telling anyone just makes her plan even more foolhardy and short-sighted.
  • Dysfunction Junction: Played with. The McKirks seem to get along with each other well enough. But their stubbornness, pettiness, and spitefulness causes issues with more open-minded members of the family.
  • Easily Forgiven:
    • Danny forgives Sally May for her unwelcome advances on him when she apologizes since he knows she didn’t mean any harm, and he agrees to be friends with her.
    • Averted with Sam in the end where everyone remains angry at her for all the trouble she caused because of her selfish refusal to compromise.
  • Entitled Bitch: Alicia is nothing but rude, dismissive, and spiteful to her Fenton nieces and nephew but she demands that they be respectful to her and calls them brats that need spankings if they aren't.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Alicia is indifferent at best to Danielle, but she refrains from mentioning alcohol around her due to her age.
    • While Virginia also dislikes Jack and city people, she encourages her children to at least be nice to Danny and Jazz since they are still Maddie's kids.
    • Sam might be a bad girlfriend but Danny is still loyal to her since he has no interest in Sally, especially given her No Sense of Personal Space.
    • Despite not liking city people and the McKirks (plus their extended relatives), Zed Jr helps get Danny, his friends, and his sisters to safety when the goblins attack.
    • Jeremy may not approve of Danny either, but even he admits that Pamela wanting to set their daughter up with a more "suitable" boy fresh off of Danny and Sam's breakup was rather tactless on her part.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: More like stubborn. Alicia routinely demeans Jack and outright tells her sister she should have married another man IN FRONT OF said couple's daughter, then calls Danielle a brat and blames her Fenton genes when she justifiably lashes out at Alicia for it. She also cannot understand why Maddie would prefer Jack (who for all his faults, loves her and treats her like a person) over Vlad (who is a sociopath who only saw her as a trophy) because he's rich. Even if she knew of Vlad's other faults and actions, Alicia still wouldn’t care as long as he kept Maddie away from the city. Most of Maddie's other relatives aren't any better.
  • Evil Is Petty:
    • The goblins have no issue with bringing an invading fleet to Earth just out of spite for being stuck on it for years.
    • The McKirks are pretty spiteful towards those they don't like, including Jack and the Hackfords, to the point of being completely unreasonable. Near the end of the story, some even refuse to help the Fentons put out a fire that is going to destroy their homes because they assume it's Jack's fault (even snickering when Alicia suggests it is), until Maddie blackmails them into helping. Alicia, Cletus, and Virginia are the worst.
  • Evil Laugh: The high-pitched screech the Kentucky Goblins have is said to be the closest approximation of one they do as mockery. Ma-Jinoh attempts one of his own, which sounds rather unpleasant.
  • Fatal Flaw: Refusal to compromise and stubbornness.
    • Sam gets captured by the aliens when she attempts to reason with them on her own out of refusal to go along with everyone else’s plan.
    • Alicia has the same faults, as well as her arrogance. It ruined her marriage but rather than accept her faults, she just became bitter and she spends most of the story unintentionally driving her sister away by continuing to show nothing but contempt to her family, still refusing to see that it's her own fault.
    • If the goblins agreed to leave Earth alone, or at least lied about it, they'd have been able to leave for home.
  • Feuding Families: The McKirks and the Hackfords, with names based on the McCoys and the Hattfields.
  • Fire-Forged Friends:
    • Zeke and Zeb Sr finally put aside their decades-long grudge while helping put out a literal fire.
    • Zig-zagged with most of the family. They were initially reluctant to help Jack put out the fire (because they automatically assumed it was his fault) and Maddie had to blackmail them into helping. However, once the fire is out and Jack and Maddie return with all of the items that the aliens stole, most of them (bar Alicia, Virginia, and Cletus) happily agree with Maddie, Zeke, and Betty-Jo to help unload the items from his van while Jack rests. Alicia seems to think (and hates) in the penultimate chapter that most of her family likes Jack now for his recent actions.
    • Averted with Alicia, Cletus, and Virginia who go right back to being rude to Jack once the fire is dealt with. They insult his weight when he returns with their stuff and have to be forced into helping unload the items. They are irritated how the rest of the family is softening up to him and leave in disgust. Betty-Jo gets so fed up with their attitude that not only does she bar the three from seeing her yet-to-be-born baby, she bans them from her house.
  • Flanderization:
    • The author took Sam's statement at the end of the finale "I’m no pushover, I'm doing things my way" and expanded it, making her very stubborn and uncompromising.
    • Alicia can be considered a victim of this. In canon, she disapproved of Jack because he constantly neglected Maddie (forgetting their anniversary 15 years in a row) due to his ghost hunting obsession (never mind her not believing they exist at the time). She was still nice enough to give Jack vaseline after being injured (albeit begrudgingly) and genuinely wanted what was best for her sister. Here, though she still thinks Jack is a fool for believing in ghosts, Alicia mainly opposes his and Maddie's marriage because he's city-folk. Her "bitter Obnoxious In-Laws character" qualities are played up, making her completely unpleasant even towards Maddie's kids and caring more about her sister doing what SHE wants than anything else.
  • Foil: Alicia and Sam are both stubborn, opinionated, hypocritical and refuse to compromise, which ruined their romantic relationships, with Danny eventually breaking up with Sam and Alicia's husband divorcing her. But while Sam is a Jerk with a Heart of Gold Soapbox Sadie who eventually accepts she isn't always right, Alicia proves to be a Jerk with a Heart of Jerk who resents her own siblings. Alicia is who Sam could have become had she not gone through a Break the Haughty moment.
  • Forceful Kiss: Sally May tends to give these to Danny while she’s unaware of his discomfort.
  • Forgiven, but Not Forgotten: Downplayed. While Maddie softens up towards Sam to an extent after the latter's efforts to make things right, she hasn't revoked her promise to convince Sam's parents to send her to boarding school if she puts Maddie's family in danger again, regardless of how everyone feels about it.
  • Freudian Excuse: Sam is pushy and tries to make people conform to her ideas because of her own pushy parents who tried to make her conform to theirs.
  • The Fundamentalist: Both the Hackfords and McKirks don't like city people for being different than them. Maddie's family treats her marriage to Jack as a Maligned Mixed Marriage but rather than accept that she wanted this life, they hold contempt on Jack for "corrupting" her and taking her to the city.
  • Going Native: Defied. The goblins spent years in the Kentucky landscape, but they despise nature and the Earth so much that they have no issue in bringing a fleet.
  • Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: It never occurs to Sam that the Kentucky Goblins might not WANT to resolve things peacefully or that they’d attack her if she goes to them unarmed and without aid.
  • Gravity Master: Ma-Jinoh's suit allows him to manipulate gravity on objects that aren't too heavy. He doesn't find out until it's too late that it is useless against ghosts, which Danny uses to his advantage.
  • The Greys: Using a theory that real world paranormal investigator Greg Newkirk suggested, the "goblins" are in fact Greys using a form of headwear, in this case helmets, to look goblin-like.
  • Hard Truth Aesop:
    • As admirable as it is, not everyone will agree to a peaceful resolution. Some outright reject it because they just don't want one no matter how beneficial it can be, whether it's out of stubbornness or hate for the other.
    • Just because you two were the best of friends, doesn't mean you're always compatible romantically. Danny and Sam may care for each other, but they're still teenagers and it's clear they have years of growing up before deciding they're right for each other.
  • Hate Sink: Due to having more of a presence outside of one episode's B-plot, Alicia is portrayed with no redeeming or enjoyable qualities. As Jazz puts it, she just isn't a good person. Alicia is rude, mean-spirited, spiteful, scornful, opinionated, stubborn, ungrateful, greedy, and all-around unlikable with no consideration for other people's opinions or feelings. Unlike the rest of her family, who hate Jack but try to be nice (if somewhat condescending) to Danny, Jazz, and Danielle because they are still Maddie's kids, Alicia outright hates them because they are also Jack's. She is apathetic to her nephew and nieces at best and outright scornful at worst, not appreciating Danielle's attempts to bond with or be nice to her and continuing to resent her even after the young girl saves her life. She spends the entire story being a major Jerkass to Jack, telling Maddie that she should have married Vlad regardless of the fact that he didn't truly love her and Maddie doesn't like him, simply because Vlad is rich and Alicia would prefer Maddie marry someone who keeps her away from the city, regardless of her sister's insistence she wouldn't be happy, brushing it off as her being unwise. Not to mention her continuously saying this in front of MADDIE AND JACK'S DAUGHTER!
  • Henpecked Husband: This is essentially what Sam expects Danny to be—someone who only always does what she wants.
  • Hero with an F in Good: All of Sam’s attempts to help only make everything worse by putting everyone in danger when she foolishly meets with the goblins alone without telling anyone, requiring them to save her. Also, her attempts to preserve nature such as by opposing the Fentons' idea to create a small fire to scare the aliens off leads to a full-blown forest fire that they needed help to control.
  • Hidden Disdain Reveal: Maddie reveals to Sam she has never approved of Danny's friendship with her and was ready to ban Sam from their home after learning she was the cause of his accident that granted him powers, which could've killed him, along with all the times Maddie and Jack almost blasted their own son due to Sam encouraging Danny not to tell his parents his Secret Identity. Maddie warns Sam if she tries anything, she'll make sure Sam's parents send her to a boarding school, ignoring how Danny would react.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Sally May doesn’t have a shot with Danny both because he’s already dating Sam and he’s put off by how clingy she is.
  • Hypocrisy Callout: Ma-Jinoh of all people calls Sam out on her hypocrisy in trying to make him compromise when she refused to do the same with her friends and allies, which led to her revealing their plan to the goblins in a botched attempt at a peaceful solution.
  • Hypocrite:
    • Sam wants everyone to compromise and do what she wants but refuses to compromise herself. Danny and Tucker even discuss how Sam is so pushy towards being unique that she's discriminatory towards anything considered normal/mainstream or people who don’t agree with her views.
    • Alicia is constantly rude, spiteful and disrespectful to Maddie's family but when Danielle calls her out on it, she has the gall to say that Danielle is the one who needs to learn manners and even tells Maddie she should spank her daughter (all while blaming her Fenton genes). In fact, Maddie's entire side of the family accuses the Fentons of having an attitude problem when the latter are only calling Maddie's family out on THEIR attitude towards them.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Sam tries to use this excuse to justify putting herself in danger by stupidly going to talk to the Kentucky Goblins alone behind everyone's backs but the others are having none of it and make it painfully clear she screwed up big time.
  • Idiot Ball: Everyone, even Ma-Jinoh and Sam herself, acknowledges it was a dumb idea for Sam to meet the Kentucky Goblins by herself without informing anyone or having a plan other than “talk things out” since they’re not interested in being diplomatic and she only jeopardizes the group’s safety when they come to save her. Ma-Jinoh even dryly notes that Sam realizing she just walked into a trap is the ONLY intelligent thing she’s said.
  • I Hate Past Me: Valerie feels nothing but embarrassment for ever hanging out with Dash during her A-Lister days after realizing how much of a pathetic, spiteful jerk he is.
  • Innocently Insensitive:
    • Granted, she isn’t very concerned with being insensitive in general, but Alicia (who is oblivious to the entire Disasteroid incident because she was passed out drunk) tells Maddie she should have married Vlad in front of Danielle, not knowing the young girl's backstory. Then again, Alicia wouldn't care even if she did know.
    • While most of Maddie's family (bar Alicia) at least try to be nice to her kids since they are still their family, they can't stop bad-mouthing their father in front of Jazz, Danny, and Danielle. They also tend to be condescending towards the kids due to their different beliefs and general attitudes, without seeming to realize that they are being insulting or that the trio don't like hearing their father be insulted like that. But because Maddie's family is so stubborn, they just blame any attitude that the kids give them on "Fenton genes".
    • Sally May doesn’t notice how uncomfortable she makes Danny with her unwanted advances.
    • Pamela didn't mean to upset Sam while her daughter is reeling from her breakup with Danny, but she can’t help but bluntly admit she's glad about it since she believes Sam can do better than the Fenton boy, much to her daughter's annoyance and outrage.
  • It's All About Me:
    • Sam wants things her way and her way alone.
    • Alicia cares more about what SHE wants for Maddie rather than what makes her sister happy.
  • I Reject Your Reality:
    • Part of the McKirks' stubbornness is that they only believe what they want to believe regardless of what anyone else says. This is actually the main reason they hate Jack so much; since THEY don't care much for city life, they all are convinced that Jack "corrupted" Maddie and changed her so she would marry him and move to the city. When Maddie and Danielle point out that it was all HER choice to do so, and that she always liked science and never cared for the country life, they brush it off. This also falls into Cassandra Truth, see above.
    • Despite Sally May telling her brother that she came onto Danny, Zeb Jr continues to hound Danny for "coming onto" his sister. Even their father can see that it's Sally's fault.
  • Jerkass: All the McKirks have shades of this, being condescending to Maddie's family for being city people. The older ones also make it clear they don’t like Jack and take any chance they can to insult him. The three most prominent are Uncle Cletus, Aunt Virginia, and Aunt Alicia.
    • Alicia is the meanest of them all, being indifferent at best and outright cruel at worst to Maddie's children because they are Jack's (who she hates) too. The fact that they are also into ghost hunting (and still thinking ghosts don't exist due to rejecting the news and being drunk during the Disasteroid incident) doesn't help much.
    • They even go as far as to blame Jack when the goblins attack, simply because he happened to be there when it occurred.
    • When a fire happens that would have destroyed Zeke and Betty-Jo's home, they were unwilling to help the Fentons put it out. Though Word of God is that they do care about their cousins, they just couldn't be motivated to help Jack Fenton because they automatically blamed him for the fire happening and wanted him to put it out himself. However, as Betty-Jo points out, they all actually knew Jack didn't really cause the fire and were just blaming him for it as an excuse to give him grief. Either way, they were letting their own petty spitefulness towards their in-law prevent them from helping their own family and there is a good chance that Zeke and Betty-Jo would have lost their home, or worse, had Maddie not blackmailed them into helping.
    • Cletus, Virginia, and Alicia continue to demean Jack even after they work together to put out the dangerous fire (that they assume Jack caused anyways). Betty-Jo gets so fed up with their spiteful attitude, she bans the three of them from ever seeing her unborn child.
    • Ma-Jinoh isn't remotely bothered by his Goblins being destroyed, nor is he above belittling Sam when the opportunity presents itself.
  • Jerkass to One: Alicia is pretty abrasive in general but Jack is usually the target of most of her scorn.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Alicia openly hates Maddie's husband and children, doesn't listen to her sister when Maddie explains she wouldn't have been happy with Vlad, and rebuffs Maddie and Danielle telling her otherwise as being unwise or being a brat that needs a spanking, respectively. Alicia doesn't even care that Vlad is an evil sociopath who has hurt Maddie's kids for petty reasons, she just cares that he is rich and lives in the country.
  • Kick the Dog: Dash mocks Danny for his failed relationship with Sam when he gets back from his trip.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Ma-Jinoh's introduction is killing off a Goblin who failed in their mission, along with not being played for laughs.
  • Lack of Empathy:
    • The aliens are lacking in emotion and ethics, seeing other creatures as beneath them and just subjects for their experiments. Sam also calls them ableist since they care nothing for their own kind when they become sick and start failing.
    • Alicia either can't or won't look at things from another person's point of view and doesn't acknowledge or care that her words and actions upset Maddie and her family. When someone calls her out on it, she thinks they are the ones with the problem and continues to do it anyways. All of her family members are like this to an extent.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: Sam finally compromises somewhat by the end of the story by reluctantly driving a 15-gallon RV through the forest to save the Fentons. She asks them not to tell anyone she did this.
  • Mama Bear: Maddie is very protective of her family, including her new daughter Dani. She does not take anyone threatening or even badmouthing her children lying down, as when Alicia suggests Maddie use Corporal Punishment on Dani, she snaps and twists her sister's arm. During the final battle, Maddie makes it clear to Sam that if she puts the former's family in danger again, like with the Kentucky Goblins through her own recklessness, she will convince Sam's parents to send her to boarding school, regardless of Danny’s feelings on the matter.
  • Manchild: The McKirks act more like spiteful children in constantly bickering with and taking jabs at people they don't like. Not to mention their extreme stubbornness.
  • The Men in Black: While the series had a parody in the form of the Guys in White, the Men in Black make frequent appearances to try and cover up the events before they're leaked out to the public. One in particular, calling himself Rich, makes direct contact with Danny.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: At the start of the story, Maddie still has a decent relationship with her sister and extended family, and encourages her husband and children to be respectful despite their attitudes. But as the story progresses and the McKirks continue to mistreat her family (especially Alicia who also mistreats her kids), Maddie loses a lot of respect for them (except for Zeke and Betty-Jo) by the end. Of course, the McKirks are too stubborn to realize this and tell themselves that the Fentons turned Maddie against them.
  • Moral Myopia:
    • Sure, Sam isn't an ideal girlfriend to Danny, but as several people point out to Sally May, that doesn’t make it okay to steal her boyfriend. Sally May is a Nice Girl despite that.
    • Alicia (and actually most of Maddie's extended family in general) just doesn't seem to be able to look at anything from another person's point of view. For example, Alicia openly tells Maddie she should have married Vlad rather than Jack in front of Danielle (who as far as she knows is Jack and Maddie's daughter), then rebuffs Danielle taking reasonable offense to that as her having an attitude and blaming her Fenton DNA.
  • Must Make Amends:
    • Sally May apologizes to Danny for making him uncomfortable with her advances right before he leaves to return home. They part on good terms as friends.
    • Sam does apologize to everyone in the end for her stubbornness and foolish refusal to compromise.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: In the aftermath, Sam regrets giving Danny so much grief earlier for taking a life when she sees him struggling to cope with how he had to destroy the goblins, recognizing he made a hard, desperate move to save her and later everyone else. She apologizes to Danny.
  • My Sister Is Off-Limits: Zeb Jr is very against Danny and Sally May being a thing, not seeing Danny doesn't have feelings for her.
  • Never My Fault: The McKirks, especially Cletus, Alicia, and Virginia, are constantly rude, mean, and condescending to Maddie's family, all while making it clear they don't respect her choices. When Maddie is understandably upset and the Fentons give them attitude in return, they act like they did nothing wrong, the Fentons are the ones with the attitude, and blame Maddie turning on them as a result of the Fentons "corrupting" her.
  • Nice Girl: Sally May can be pushy and doesn’t take a hint, but she bears no ill-will towards anyone and eventually apologizes to Danny for making him uncomfortable with her unwanted advances.
  • No Biological Sex: The aliens are genderless and reproduce by cloning, though the captain is still referred to as a "he".
  • No Body Left Behind: The Goblins will melt into a liquid upon death. Ma-Jinoh, the sole original goblin, was vaporized in battle.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Sally May loves invading Danny’s personal space, much to his awkwardness.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: The entirety of Maddie's side of the family, the McKirks, all make it clear they despise Jack for "corrupting" her via encouraging Maddie to pursue science and move to the big city (both of which they hate) by marrying her. They take any chance they can to laugh at him, insult him, degrade him, and speak ill of him even when there's a crisis.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Unlike the Varginha Devil, who is named Ma-Jinoh, the goblins are never referred to by any actual name, not even as Greys. It's even brought up if they should still be called "goblins" at one point.
  • Our Goblins Are Different: They only have a goblin-like appearance. They're actually the typical Grey under their suits.
  • Outside-Genre Foe: The Kentucky Goblins, the creatures of the iconic Kelly-Hopkinsville Encounter, are aliens, something the ghost-hunting Danny Phantom has no previous experience with.
  • Peer-Pressured Bully: Star seems uncomfortable being rude to Valerie, who she's still friends with despite Paulina reminding her Valerie is "not one of us anymore".
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Valerie maintains her friendship with Danny and agrees to keep his superhero identity a secret after he revealed himself to the team at Antarctica when he saved Earth from the Disasteroid.
    • Valerie protects Team Phantom from Dash’s bullying by informing the security guard at the book store of Dash’s harassment of her friends.
    • Sam’s father Jeremy comforts his daughter when she’s depressed from her breakup with Danny by relating with her through sharing the struggles he had at her age and assuring her things will get better. Sam appreciates the gesture.
  • Rage Breaking Point: During a brief respite in the climax, Danny loses his patience with Sam when she still clings to her agenda after he just killed a goblin to save her life, yelling at her to stop being an "ungrateful pain". This finally gets through to her and she tries not to further rile him up.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In the loosest sense of "related". The Varginha Devil was an unrelated alien, with this story stating it and the goblins were of the same race but in different sorts of suits.
  • The Resenter. All of the McKirks towards Jack. When he is in the room, they cannot seem to open their mouths without talking bad about him in any way possible. He doesn't even have to be in the room; they will just scoff at "Fenton genes". But special mention goes to Alicia, who despises Jack's kids despite them being her sister's as well.
  • The Scapegoat: The McKirks all place blame on the latest goblin attack and later the forest fire on Jack. Especially Cletus, Virginia, and Alicia while the rest just agree. They use the excuse that the goblins hadn't attacked (in such big numbers) before Jack showed up, but it's clear that it's really because they just don't like him.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here!: The A-Listers decide to leave Team Phantom alone and flee from the bookstore after Dash gets in trouble with a security guard for harassing them.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The long-standing rivalry between the Hackfords and McKirks is an obvious reference to the real-life feud between the Hatfields and McCoys. Both situations also include moonshine.
    • The design of the goblins was based heavily on the Sableye, who was based on the very same creatures.
  • Sins of the Father:
    • Despite them being her biological nieces and nephews, as well as her (so-called) beloved sister's children, Alicia outright hates Danny, Jazz, and Dani because they are Fentons like their father. Word of God is that Alicia also hates them because she thinks that if Maddie were to ever "come to her senses" and want to leave Jack, her kids would keep her bound to him.
    • Zigzagged with the rest of Maddie's family, as it's suggested that none of them like the Fentons because they don't like Jack, but (bar Alicia) at least tolerate Danny, Jazz, and Dani because they are still Maddie's kids too.
    • As expected, due to Zeb and Zekena's rivalry, most of their children/extended families don’t like the others either.
  • Skewed Priorities:
    • Played for Drama. Alicia insists that Maddie should have married Vlad, only because of his money and because he at least had a place out in the country. Even after Maddie tells her he was a sociopath who saw her as property than a person, Alicia would still prefer that to Maddie marrying a city person, especially Jack.
    • After revealing the numerous experiments the goblins conducted over the decades on Earthly beings in order to learn how to subjugate an entire race, Ma-Jinoh insults Sam for caring more about the animals they mutilated and killed than the disappearances and deaths of various humans — her own species.
  • Stalking Is Funny if It Is Female After Male: Averted. While harmless, Sally May eventually realizes her advances towards Danny are inappropriate both because he already has Sam for a girlfriend and she’s making him extremely uncomfortable by not respecting his personal space. She sincerely apologizes to Danny before he leaves and they agree to be friends.
  • Starter Villain: Since none of Danny's rogues gallery appear until the end, this paints the goblins as the first threat, as well as the first non-ghostly threat, he tackles.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Sally May Hackfork is slightly taller than Jazz but a few months younger than Danny.
  • Stupid Good: Sam’s well-intentioned but poorly thought out plan to reason with the Kentucky Goblins not only backfires but puts everyone at risk when they come to rescue her.
  • Thicker Than Water: The McKirks and even Zeb's son side with their respective family members in the feuds. Subverted in the McKirks' case in that it's more to do with Zed Sr being rude to them for their relation to Zeke than anything else.
  • Thou Shall Not Kill: Danny has never taken a life before, save for the clones Vlad created, though they were mindless and burning out anyway. However, the goblins aren't ghosts, they're solid, organic entities. As such, he's very uncomfortable with the idea that they might have to kill them. Sam is wholly against this. In the end, the two have no choice. Danny is genuinely haunted by his actions.
  • Token Good Teammate: Zeke and his wife Betty-Jo McKirk are the only members of Danny’s extended family that like Jack, with the couple even deciding he and Maddie should be their children's godparents and Betty-Jo telling Alicia, Virginia, and Cletus (the three who have been most mean to Jack) they are not welcome at their home anymore after the fire. Subverted somewhat with Zeke as the main reason the feud with the Hackfords is still going on is because he can't get over his bitterness towards Zed Sr, even though the reason the feud started (a girl) no longer applies since they are both over her and married to different people.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: When Jack and Maddie return with all of the items that the goblins stole from them, and after they worked together to put out a dangerous fire, most of Maddie's family (the exceptions being Alicia, Cletus, and Virginia) agree to let Jack rest while they unload the van. At the end, Alicia thinks that they've come to like him, to her disgust.
  • Ungrateful Bitch:
    • During the goblin attack, Danielle saves Alicia's life by blasting a goblin before it can attack her with her own ax. Rather than thank her niece, Alicia scowls at her and snaps that Danielle could have broken the ax or cut off her leg when it fell.
    • Danny reluctantly kills an (already degenerating) alien clone to save Sam's life. She doesn’t appreciate him killing anything. Everyone else, especially Maddie, calls her out on it.
  • Unrequited Love Lasts Forever: Sally May still misses Danny even after making peace with him before his departure back to Amity Park.
  • Vicarious Gold Digger:
    • Uncle Cletus and Alicia wouldn't mind Maddie marrying a "city folk" if he was at least rich. Uncle Cletus insults Jack for not being rich enough to provide Maddie with a luxurious lifestyle and Alicia even explicitly tells Maddie she should have married Vlad solely because of his wealth even though she knows how he really feels about and would treat her sister. Though Alicia is unaware of Vlad's villainous actions, Word of God is that even if she did know, she wouldn't care.
    • Aunt Virginia even tries convincing Jazz to go out with the son of a friend of hers by bringing up that he inherited a few thousand dollars from his parents, saying it's good money and that there's nothing more important than having a steady job and high income.
  • Villain Has a Point:
    • Even Ma-Jinoh lampshades how stupid it was of Sam to confront the Kentucky Goblins alone and without telling anyone since she only put herself in unnecessary danger for thinking it was a good idea to try to reason with a bunch of vicious alien bastards.
    • Ma-Jinoh outright tells Danny he should find a better mate than Sam given her single-minded prioritization of "vegetation and lower lifeforms meant to be bred for consumption", which got her allies into this mess.
  • Wasted Beauty: As attractive as Sally May is, Danny is put off by her clinginess and smothering. Downplayed as Danny becomes friends with her when she apologizes.
  • Was Too Hard on Her: After learning Sam drove the RV, a gas guzzler, to save the Fentons from a goblin attack, Maddie regrets snapping at her the way she did earlier and admits she might have been too hostile, though Sam concedes she was right.
  • We Have Reserves: Ma-Jinoh doesn't care about his crew since they are unstable anyways and he can clone more.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Everyone chews out Sam for going behind their backs to negotiate with the aliens, especially since it ruined their plan and got Danielle injured.

     Danny Phantom Vs The Wendigo
  • 100% Heroism Rating: Saving Amity Park from the Wendigo helped restore Danny Phantom's reputation to the point Mayor Montez gifts him with the key to the city.
  • Accidental Kiss: While fighting Ember at the swap meet, Danny's pushed into her and their lips touch.
  • Action Girl: Sam is willing to fight off the Wendigo with just a piece of a broken chair.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • Kwan is on better terms with Sam here as they're shown getting along when he's not with the A-List.
    • Star is also less rude and antagonistic towards Team Phantom since she doesn't approve of Paulina's cruel mockery of Dani and is grateful to Danny for saving her from a Wendigo-cursed Paulina.
    • Ember McLain becomes much less hostile to Danny and they eventually transition into Friendly Enemies before they develop feelings for each other.
  • Aesop Amnesia: It seems that the lesson from Kentucky on compromising with people didn't stick with Sam as she returns to being her usual pigheaded, self-righteous self. Her plan to protest without thinking about what others wanted got her friends banned from their favorite eatery and left Valerie jobless. Good job, Manson.
  • Affably Evil: Ember is transitioning into this as she develops a more genial relationship with Danny over time due to their growing feelings for each other to the point she teaches him how to open portals.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: The Wendigo is more interdimensional than extraterrestrial, but he's even more vile than the goblins.
  • All for Nothing: Tucker points out to Sam that her protest against Nasty Burger's use of animal meat accomplished nothing but getting Team Phantom banned for a month, costing her friends the chance to earn extra credit for their project, and Valerie fired from their favorite eating joint. Her attempt to save the zoo animals during the snowstorm also amounts to nothing, as many of them were already killed and eaten.
  • Amazon Chaser: Danny is growing closer to Ember McLain, one of his most dangerous enemies.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Nat uses some vague wording that leaves it unclear if she knows Danny is both Fenton and Phantom.
  • And Your Little Dog, Too!: The Wendigo threatens to eat Danny's family after he's done eating the ghost boy.
  • Animal Lover: Deconstructed with Sam, as her preference for animals over people lands her in trouble with everyone when her heated protest against Nasty Burger's use of animal-based foods gets her friends banned for a month and costs Valerie her job. Her insistence on Team Phantom trying to save the Amity Park Zoo animals during the Wendigo's rampage also ends up bringing them into a confrontation with him.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Even ghosts like Ember originally assumed the Wendigo was a scary bedtime story adults used to make their children behave before coming across the monster itself and/or his revenants.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: The Wendigo eats the animals at the Amity Park Zoo.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Deconstructed as Dani admits that having an exposed midriff in her costume is a bad idea because it leaves her vulnerable to cold weather.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: The Wendigo causes so much trouble for Amity Park that Mayor Montez wonders why he wanted to be mayor again.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: In the end, Kwan and Star defend Danny from Dash and the A-Listers' harassment as thanks for him protecting them from the revenants and his family helping Danny Phantom stop the Wendigo. Star and Kwan also leave presents for Danny Phantom in gratitude, although their goal of not getting caught doing it fails when Sam and Valerie see them.
  • Berserk Button: The Wendigo first shows genuine rage when the Phantoms find and touch the rocks that were hit with radiation from his home dimension.
  • Betty and Veronica: While in Canada, Danny meets Nat, a normal girl with a love of sports who seems like him and finds him funny, making her the Betty. He's also dealing with a budding attraction shared with Ember, a ghost villainess he's spent a lot of time fighting and doesn't care if he's trying to seek companionship with another, making her the Veronica.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Tucker is the funny guy of Team Phantom, but even he has limits with Sam's attitude and doesn't hesitate to call her out on getting him banned from Nasty Burger for prioritizing her own personal agenda.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Although he managed to defeat the Wendigo and end his reign of terror, as well as reaffirm his close relationship with Danielle, Danny finds himself slowly worrying about the idea of getting used to killing. Adding to that, he doesn't get together with Nat and finds himself falling in love with Ember, who politely turns down his request to be his girlfriend due to them being hero and villain. That said, she chooses to continue their game of flirting while encouraging him to meet someone more right for him. Danny is also visited by Achak, his daughter, and all those whose souls were plagued by the curse to thank him, giving Danny a sense of peace that convinces him not to fret about destroying the Wendigo. On another sweet note, Sam seems to have reconciled with Team Phantom and the Fentons due to finally beginning to overcome her flaws, while Kwan and Star start breaking away from the A-Listers.
  • Brutal Honesty: Everyone makes it clear to Sam it's all her fault Team Phantom was banned from Nasty Burger for a month and Valerie lost her job there because of her protest.
  • Bully Turned Buddy: Kwan is developing a friendship with Sam and becomes more considerate toward Team Phantom, with him and Star willing to defend Danny from Dash’s bullying in the end.
  • The Cameo: Christopher Morgan, a character created by a frequent collaborator with NeoMark, Flower princess11, appears as the only person who agrees with Sam at her protest of Nasty Burger's use of animals to make their food and declaration that they should switch to tofu burgers.
  • Can't Take Criticism: Sam does NOT like being called a hypocrite, no matter how true it is.
  • Central Theme: Everyone is selfish to a degree, no matter how much we may say or think otherwise. However, selfishness isn't necessarily bad as sometimes, you do need to look out for yourself, so long as you don't hurt anyone. And even if you do a good deed for something you want, it doesn't take away the good you do and be mindful that you're not the only one to benefit from it.
  • Character Development:
    • Kwan starts getting along with Team Phantom and stops cowering to the A-Listers as much, as he stands up to Dash in the end when he bullies Danny.
    • Danielle and Sam promise to stop being so possessive of Danny and become more supportive of his relationships.
    • Star warms up to Danny Fenton and Phantom when they save her during the Wendigo’s attack on Amity Park, to the point she helps Kwan defend Danny from Dash and they secretly leave thank-you gifts for the hero.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl:
    • Paulina doesn't like the thought of Danny and Ember dating. The accidental kiss between them doesn't help.
    • Ember does NOT take it well that Danny is with a human.
    • Dani is a familial example as she tries to sabotage Danny's growing relationship with Nat because she's scared they'll drift apart. She's also upset to learn he's seeing Ember in secret.
    • Sam remembers she was this to Danny in the past by acting jealous towards every girl who got close to him, especially Valerie.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Danny admits that Dani wouldn't have gotten mad at him for keeping his relationship with Ember a secret if he had been honest with her about it.
  • Dating Catwoman: Danny develops a mutual attraction with Ember, one he's doing his best to fight off since he's also trying to move on with a normal girl, Nat.
  • Deadpan Snarker:
    • This is Ellie’s default attitude.
    • The Wendigo has a rather dry wit, especially when dealing with Danny and his ghostly enemies.
  • Defrosting Ice King: Kwan’s blossoming friendship with Sam is helping bring out his friendlier side so he eases up on Team Phantom and even stands up to Dash with Star’s help when he tries to bully Danny in the end.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Star also warms up to Danny after he saves her from a revenant-cursed Paulina. Along with Kwan, she leaves behind a gift for Danny Phantom to thank him for saving Amity Park from the Wendigo.
  • The Determinator: The Wendigo is willing to travel all the way to Amity Park just to get revenge on Danny.
  • Did Not Get the Girl: Danny and Nat decide not to pursue a Long-Distance Relationship as him being in America and her in Canada makes things too difficult for them. This frees him up for Ember, realizing he has genuine feelings for her now. However, she politely turns him down as she's too dedicated to her goals of World Domination, despite returning his feelings.
  • Didn't Think This Through: During the Wendigo’s invasion of Amity Park, it never occurred to Sam that it might be too late to save the animals at the zoo when she convinces Team Phantom to rescue them since the Wendigo already ate them all and is now going after Team Phantom to make them his latest meal.
  • Dirty Coward:
    • When the revenants attack the shelter, one guy uses his wife as a Human Shield while asking them to take her instead of him and leave him alone, Dash and his father try to push each other to the revenants, and Sam's parents lock themselves inside a closet.
    • Dash is fine with picking on unpopular kids he views as easy prey but backs off when his fellow A-Listers Kwan and Star intimidate him into leaving Danny Fenton alone.
  • Disappointed in You: Ida Manson makes it clear she's mad at her son Jeremy for cowardly hiding from the revenants in a closet when they attack the shelter.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The Wendigo wants to eat Danny as payback for unknowingly costing him his food supply when Danny made the Earth intangible.
  • Do You Trust Me?: Achak asks Danny and Danielle this word-for-word. Dani flat out states that they don't since they literally just met, but Danny goes along with him since the Wendigo is the biggest threat for them to deal with.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Kwan of all people calls Sam out on her selfishness in getting her friends banned from Nasty Burger for a month and costing Valerie her job due to protesting their use of animals to make food.
  • Dying Declaration of Hate: Seconds before the explosion that ends him, the Wendigo bitterly says to Danny, "I hate you…".
  • Easily Forgiven: Still averted with Sam since in addition to the Kentucky Goblins mess, Maddie in particular resents her selfishness in keeping Danny’s powers a secret from the Fentons and railing on him for briefly wanting to give them up. Sam’s actions in this story also don’t do her any favors. It isn't until she is cursed by the Wendigo, expresses sincere remorse, and actually begins changing her ways that Maddie starts cooling down towards her. Danny, Tucker, and Valerie also only forgive Sam after she helps get Valerie her job back and ensures they will receive the extra credit for school.
  • Easily Swayed Population: A conspiracy theory starts going around that the whole Disasteroid incident was a hoax. Riots start forming and vandalizing Danny’s statues, with the Fentons accused of being frauds.
  • Enemy Mine: The Danny Phantom Revenge Squad is willing to put aside their feud with the ghost boy to focus on dealing with the Wendigo when it proves to be a greater threat. Danny is even willing to use a wish from Desiree to return the Wendigo to his lair.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Danny's rogues gallery are disgusted by the Wendigo's obsession with consuming human flesh.
    • Skulker convinces the Danny Phantom Revenge Squad to leave the ghost boy alone when he goes to face the Wendigo, because he can tell from the look in Danny's eyes that he's serious about killing it.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Star doesn't approve of Paulina mocking Danny's relationship with Danielle since she finds their close bond adorable.
    • Danny does have limits with Sam's selfishness and after the fiasco she caused with her protest of Nasty Burger which got him, Tucker, and Valerie banned (with Valerie also losing her job), he puts her on probation so she's off Team Phantom for some time.
    • Even Kwan tells Sam she needs to be more considerate with others after her impulsive protest of Nasty Burger negatively impacts her friends.
    • Despite her anger at Sam over the zoo incident, Maddie is immediately worried for her when she becomes cursed by the Wendigo.
    • While Dani has learned to be less clingy toward Danny and more accepting of his relationships, she still prefers that he date ANY girl but Paulina because the latter is just too annoying and unpleasant.
    • Kwan and Star stand up for Danny against Dash’s bullying partly as thanks and partly out of disgust at his lack of gratitude despite the Fentons helping Danny Phantom save the city from the Wendigo.
    • Kwan is still disturbed by all the stuff Dash said to him while under the Wendigo’s curse, especially the part about threatening to eat him.
  • Eviler than Thou: Even Danny's enemies find the Wendigo a terrifying menace. Given his repeated desire to eat humans, that seems to be where they draw the line.
  • Evil Is Petty: The Wendigo's vendetta with Danny is due to the latter making Earth intangible to stop the Disasteroid and causing bodies he was storing for food to fall into the Earth's core, despite that Danny did not even know he existed.
  • Evil vs. Evil: The Wendigo fights off Danny's enemies because he doesn't want anyone to deprive him of the chance to finish off Danny himself.
  • Expy:
    • Nat and her friends Susan and Ellie are deliberately based on Jen, Caitlin, and Nikki, respectively from 6teen.
    • Danielle's new friend Carly is based on Marcy Regina Wu from Amphibia.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Subverted. Danny is still a hero, but it turns out that the Disasteroid wasn't big enough to destroy the world like the specialist claimed, just a city at most. And when the Disasteroid did hit Earth in canon, it hit a barren landscape so it wouldn't have even caused that much damage.
  • Faux Affably Evil: The Wendigo has a level of snark and false sense of friendliness with people, especially when he talks about eating them in violent ways.
  • Friendly Enemy: Ember and Danny decide to become this when the former refuses to become the latter’s girlfriend due to not wanting to change her villainous ways.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Sam's uncompromising and unapologetic attitude, Soapbox Sadie tendencies, hypocrisy, and Straw Vegetarian mindset are making her extremely unpopular with her friends and the Fentons, as it shows she still hasn't learned her lesson from the Kentucky Goblins incident about the problems she causes others because of her refusal to compromise.
  • Giver of Lame Names: When Danny's enemies team up to get revenge on him, Skulker calls them "The Danny Phantom Revenge Squad". Nobody likes the name, especially not Danny, who points out how lazy and uncreative it is.
  • Grew a Spine:
    • Kwan is willing to stand up to Dash when he falls under the Wendigo’s curse and when he bullies Danny at school (with Star’s help).
    • At Casper High, Star aids Kwan in protecting Danny by making Dash back off when he tries to do his usual bullying after the Wendigo incident.
  • Guilt by Association: Danny, Tucker, and Valerie get in trouble along with Sam for her protest against Nasty Burger solely because of their friendship with her, despite the three having no knowledge of her intentions.
  • Has a Type: Downplayed. Danny is attracted to other girls but wonders if considering his initial interest in Sam, Ember, and Ellie, he has a thing for goths.
  • Hates My Secret Identity: Dash and Paulina are still bullies to Danny Fenton but worship Danny Phantom as they’re among those cheering for him when he receives the key to the city after stopping the Wendigo.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Along with creating constructs, Danny has also gained a physical sword from his father, forged from the metal obtained from the Goblins.
  • Hypocrisy Callout: Tucker calls Sam out on her hypocrisy after she accuses him of being selfish for not caring about the animals Nasty Burger uses to make his favorite foods. He retorts that Sam doesn't care about how her protest against their favorite food joint negatively impacted her friends because all that mattered to her was her own personal agenda.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Sam uses this as her excuse for protesting against Nasty Burger's use of meat. However, her friends, the Fentons, and even Kwan are having none of it because they do not approve of Sam dragging her friends down with her just to satisfy her own goals.
  • I'll Kill You!: Danny explicitly says, "I'm going to kill the Wendigo" as his means of lifting the curse to save Danielle and Sam.
  • It Can Think: Dani admits that the revenants are getting smarter when one of them jumps over her shield to attack her.
  • It's All About Me: Sam's selfishness and Never My Fault attitude put a serious strain on her relationships after her narrow-minded actions against Nasty Burger result in her friends being banned for a month and Valerie losing her job there. Her loved ones begin losing patience with her behavior, especially after realizing she failed to learn anything from the Kentucky Goblin incident.
  • It's Personal: Achak appears to have an intense hatred of the Wendigo for reasons unknown. It's revealed his daughter fell under the Wendigo's curse while he was out hunting.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: A familial version. By the end, Dani has decided to stop interfering in Danny’s relationships and let him be happy, even if it’s with Ember McLain.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • In a flashback, Paulina may have been stuck-up and harsh about it, but she's right that Sam needs to stop trying to force her vegan diet on others, especially since it's partly why she and Danny broke up.
    • While not really a Jerkass, Danny correctly points out to Skulker and Ember that sharing a mutual hatred for someone does not make them a good couple, especially since they have nothing else in common. Ember apparently takes his words to heart as she eventually becomes interested in Danny instead.
    • Sam tells Kwan he can find better friends than the A-Listers.
    • In response to the above, Kwan retorts that Sam doesn't have much room to criticize when she acts like she's too good to be around most people.
    • Dani makes it clear to Sam she's a bad friend for endangering Team Phantom just to save some zoo animals that were already dead to satisfy her personal agenda.
    • Maddie is also justified in viciously ripping into Sam for putting her family at risk just to rescue zoo animals that were already eaten by the Wendigo.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Star is evolving into this as she softens toward Team Phantom and becomes more appreciative of Danny Phantom, to the point she defends Danny Fenton from Dash’s bullying at school and along with Kwan, leaves appreciation gifts for Danny Phantom.
  • Jerkass Realization: Being trapped in the Fenton Stockades due to being placed under a curse and even the Wendigo viciously ripping into them have both Sam and Dani go through this.
    • Danielle realises that Danny is entitled to find happiness with someone in a relationship and she shouldn't have let her own fears and selfishness get in between them, especially as it meant that Danny was going to die.
    • Sam FINALLY realises that trying to fulfill her own agendas at the expense of everyone else have pretty much cost more trust with her friends and the world's safety.
  • Just Friends: Ultimately, Danny and Nat agree to be this, since living on opposite sides of the continent would make a Long-Distance Relationship difficult.
  • Just Ignore It: Danny doesn’t even bother acknowledging the A-Listers' insults anymore and advises Dani not to respond to them either because they’re not worth it and it just encourages them.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Unlike the Goblins, the Wendigo is a much more vicious creature. He has NONE of the comedic or sympathetic qualities of Danny's usual enemies and is nothing but a vicious and sadistic serial killer who's willing to endanger an entire city just to get one teenager.
  • Lampshade Hanging: Dani admits that exposing her midriff in her superhero costume was a bad idea because it just makes her colder when the Wendigo unleashes a snow storm on Amity Park.
  • Last Disrespects: Visiting the area where the Wendigo was at the moment of his destruction, Danny openly says that while his own life isn't perfect, it's a lot better without the Wendigo in it.
  • Legion of Doom: Some of Danny's enemies are teaming up against him. Skulker suggests calling the team the "Danny Phantom Revenge Squad"; Technus suggests "The Funky Fresh Phantom Crushers", Walker suggests "Walker's Punk Patrol"; the Ghost Writer suggests "Spiritual Society"; Johnny 13 suggests "Rough n Wild Ones"; Kitty suggests "Stylish Spirits"; Spectra suggests "Beauty and the Beasts" and says the others can guess which one she is; Desiree suggests "Dark Wish".
  • A Lighter Shade of Black:
    • Star is shown to be less cruel than Paulina when she doesn't participate in mocking Danny and Dani with her.
    • Kwan and Star are becoming this to the A-Listers since they’re easing up on Team Phantom to the point they even protect Danny from Dash’s bullying.
  • Lovable Coward: Sam is annoyed by Tucker cowering from the revenants instead of fighting them off like she is.
  • Lovable Jock: Kwan is a genuinely friendly and fun-loving guy when away from the other A-Listers. He even stands up to Dash to protect Danny in the end.
  • Loves My Alter Ego: Paulina still has a huge crush on Danny Phantom while wanting nothing to do with Danny Fenton.
  • Mama Bear:
    • Maddie has no problem fighting the Wendigo to protect her family. After Dani becomes cursed, she also tears into Sam for putting everyone in danger to rescue animals that were already eaten by the Wendigo.
    • Pamela Manson questions Danny on Sam's whereabouts when he arrives to the shelter.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Despite Danny, Tucker, and Valerie having no idea that Sam was going to protest against Nasty Burger, they are also banned from it for a month and the latter gets fired.
  • My God, What Have I Done?:
    • Sam won't admit it to anyone, but she does feel bad for getting her friends in trouble for her protest of Nasty Burger after Kwan scolds her for her selfish and inconsiderate attitude toward her loved ones.
    • Sam and Dani come to regret being so clingy with Danny out of jealousy and possessiveness, and vow not to interfere in his relationships from now on.
  • Never Mess with Granny: When the revenants attack the shelter, Ida Manson tries to fight them off with her wheelchair and cane.
  • Never My Fault: Sam refuses to recognize she did anything wrong when she gets Team Phantom banned from Nasty Burger for a month and costs Valerie her job there for protesting the establishment's use of animals to make food.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Something that for once is commented on about Danny. Ember attempts to show him teleportation, which fails. Danny tries creating portals with the same idea, only for them to open for 3 seconds before closing, with bigger ones closing faster. He still finds a use for them.
  • Nice Guy: Kwan is this without the A-Listers as he’s shown to be harmless and genuinely friendly on his own as he makes a sincere attempt to befriend Team Phantom.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain!: When Danny's enemies argue over what their team should be named, Skulker is so loud about his opinion he's overheard by a member of the Far Frozen, who decides to warn Frostbite.
  • No Kill like Overkill: The Wendigo is impaled with enough force to lose his heart, then doused with lava, and finally hit with a massive fireball that causes the nearby trucks filled with incendiary substances to create a massive explosion. All of this is what finally puts him down for good.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: The Wendigo lacks any of the comedic or sympathetic qualities possessed by Danny’s usual ghostly enemies and is just a vicious cannibal obsessed with eating the ghost boy, even if it means destroying Amity Park in the process.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: The Wendigo admits to Danny that he enjoys being on Earth more than his world. Back home, he's a weakling who poses little to no threat, unlike the rest of his kind. On Earth, he's an apex predator whose speed, strength, and magic make him a danger.
  • No-Sell: The Wendigo proves to be strong enough to be immune to Kitty's kiss, Johnny 13's bad luck, the Ghost Writer's poetry, and even Desiree's wish granting.
  • Not Good with Rejection: After Danny tells Ember he's found someone else, she kicks him in the head and decides to fight him.
  • "Not So Different" Remark:
    • Sam doesn't admit it out loud but she realizes that in the past, she acted just as clingy and possessive of Danny as Danielle did when her brother met Nat by getting jealous of every girl who got close to him.
    • When Sam admits to Valerie that she was right about Kwan not being a bad guy, just having bad friends, Valerie dryly notes that's something he and Danny have in common since Sam isn’t always a good friend.
  • Oblivious to Love: Danny doesn't figure out that Sophie has a crush on him.
  • Odd Friendship: Kwan and Sam start to form one.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: The Wendigo battles the Danny Phantom Revenge Squad because he doesn't want them to deprive them of his biggest prey.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • Paulina is so shocked by Danny’s utter indifference towards her insults that she flees in a panic.
    • While she herself has no problem with killing her opponent, Ember is actually uncomfortable with how nonchalant Danny is being in destroying the Wendigos that attacked them. He doesn't want to consider what he did to the goblins is having an effect on him, so he justifies that the Wendigos are not even human anymore, just mindless animals.
    • Pamela Manson calls Danny by his first name when she asks him where Sam is after he shows up at the shelter.
    • Both the A-Listers and Team Phantom are surprised when Kwan and Star stand up to Dash when he tries to bully Danny.
  • Opposites Attract: Deconstructed. Ember admits to Danny that they wouldn’t work out as a couple because they’re too different, with her being a villain and him being a hero, and neither of them are willing to change for the other’s sake. Thus, she passes up becoming Danny's girlfriend, but she will become a Friendly Enemy to him from now on.
  • Paper Tiger: Dash is a buff football player who has no problem bullying unpopular kids he sees as easy targets but stands down when fellow popular kids Kwan and Star make him leave Danny alone.
  • Peer-Pressured Bully: Kwan only bullies others because he's cowed by peer pressure from the A-Listers.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Star doesn’t join in on Paulina insulting Danny and Dani as she actually finds the close bond between them precious, and leaves peacefully.
    • Valerie defends Kwan to Sam by telling her that while he’s a meathead, he’s not a monster.
    • Ember teaches Danny how to teleport, or at least open portals.
    • At the shelter, Danny protects Star from the Wendigo-cursed Paulina.
    • Despite their famous dislike of the Fentons, the Mansons express sympathy when Danny mentions Danielle is among those who have been cursed.
    • When a cursed and detained Sam laments that she should have listened to Danny about the ghost portal, Maddie of all people is quick to comfort her, pointing out that Vlad would've gone unchallenged otherwise and they never would've met Danielle.
    • Kwan stands up for Danny against Dash’s bullying at school as thanks for his family helping Danny Phantom save the city from the Wendigo. Afterwards, he lets Mikey off the hook for accidentally bumping into him.
    • Star is genuinely grateful to Danny for saving her from a revenant-cursed Paulina and helps Kwan defend him from Dash’s bullying.
    • Star and Kwan decide to secretly leave Danny Phantom a reward for his good service, at least until they’re spotted by Sam and Valerie.
    • Sam admits that Valerie was right about Kwan being a good guy who just has bad friends.
    • Danny and Tucker don’t mind Sam making new friends, not even if it’s with Kwan.
    • At the end, Skulker refuses to attack Danny for a while after the Wendigo's defeat because he believes Danny earned a break.
    • By the end, Dani has learned to become more appreciative of Carly and Sophie since she regards them as actual friends instead of just hanging out with them to prove she can make friends.
    • Carly and Sophie bring a present for Danny and Dani each for their birthday.
  • Picky Eater: The Wendigo's favorite prey is humans and he is disgusted when he realizes that Penelope Spectra is a ghost upon biting her fake human form, considering her a pale substitute.
  • Precocious Crush: Dani's friend Sophie finds Danny cute, much to Dani's disgust and Carly's amusement.
  • Redemption Rejection: A rare downplayed and sympathetic example. As much as Ember likes Danny, she refuses to give up her ambitions of taking over the world and turns down the chance to become his girlfriend, but she still maintains a friendly relationship with him.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: When Walker asks if Skulker is proposing an alliance against Danny, Skulker says he's proposing a birthday party. Technus suggests ordering pizza for the party before realizing it was sarcasm.
  • Save the Jerk: Danny saves Star from Paulina when the latter is cursed by the Wendigo.
  • Secretly Selfish: The main theme of the story is that even good deeds have a degree of selfishness to them.
  • Shared Family Quirks: The Fentons notice that Dani shares Jack's appetite and his love of fudge.
  • Shipper on Deck: By the end of the story, Dani would prefer ANY girl but Paulina date Danny; even Sam, Star, Nat, Ember, Valerie, and Sally May.
  • Shipping Torpedo: Dani is worried that her and Danny will drift apart because of his growing relationship with Nat and tries to sabotage it. She also doesn't approve of Danny dating Ember since Dani feels he's ignoring her to hang out with the ghostly pop diva.
  • Smelly Feet Gag: Kwan gets a revenant-cursed Dash to back off by threatening to hit him with his smelly shoes.
  • Soapbox Sadie: Sam is still this, being an avid defender of animal rights, environmental protection, and women's rights. This puts her at odds with the characters when her determination to completely overhaul Nasty Burger's menu gets her and her friends banned, while Valerie is left unemployed. Her actions in "Mystery Meat" are also brought up.
  • Straw Vegetarian: Deconstructed with Sam, who is determined to have Nasty Burger replace all the meat in their dishes with tofu. This lands her in hot water with her friends and the Fentons when her protest not only gets Team Phantom banned for a month, but Valerie fired.
  • Stupid Good: Sam’s plan to save the animals at the zoo during the Wendigo’s invasion on Amity Park was pointless from the start because they’ve already been killed and eaten by the creature, who proceeds to attack Team Phantom, meaning her well-intentioned but poorly-thought out idea only succeeded in putting everyone in danger.
  • Take That!: Nat mentions she has an ex-boyfriend named Rod, who she describes as marble-mouthed and obsessed with solar panels despite not being able to pronounce it correctly. This was an intentional jab towards Birdemic.
  • Thin-Skinned Bully: Dash leaves Danny alone after his fellow A-Listers Kwan and Star stand up to him in Danny’s defense.
  • Token Good Teammate: Kwan is the most sympathetic of the A-Listers since he’s shown to be harmless and even friendly to Sam when he’s away from them. Valerie even tells Sam that while he's a meathead, he's not as bad as the rest of the mean popular kids.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Kwan is willing to stand up to Dash when he falls under the Wendigo’s curse.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Sam goes back to being her usual stubborn and unreasonable self by costing Valerie her job and getting herself and her friends banned from Nasty Burger for a month after protesting their use of animal meat, without even informing them. She also refuses to apologize or acknowledge she did anything wrong.
  • Took a Level in Kindness:
    • Ember warms up to Danny after they fall for each other. She won’t date him because she doesn’t want to stop being a villain but she’s still friendly with him.
    • Kwan’s growing friendship with Sam helps bring out his nicer side to the point he sticks up for Danny with Star’s help when Dash picks on him and leaves Mikey alone when the latter accidentally bumps into him. Later, he and Star secretly leave presents for Danny Phantom as thanks for everything he’s done for Amity Park.
    • Star is softening toward Team Phantom and becomes more appreciative of Danny Fenton and Phantom when the former protects her from a revenant-cursed Paulina and the latter saves Amity Park from the Wendigo. She even helps Kwan defend Danny from Dash’s bullying, and they later secretly leave gifts for Danny Phantom as thanks for all his heroics.
    • Downplayed. By the end, Dani has become much more appreciative of Carly and Sophie since she sees them as actual friends instead of just hanging out with them to prove she can make friends.
  • To Serve Man: The Wendigo loves eating human flesh.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Kwan is actually a pretty nice guy when he's not around the other A-Listers.
  • Unexpected Kindness: Everyone is shocked that Star and Kwan would defend Danny from Dash’s bullying after the Wendigo is beaten.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Kwan and Star call Dash out on this for harassing Danny even after his family helped Danny Phantom save the town and him from the Wendigo.
  • Viler New Villain: The first story depicted aliens who were only fixated on going home until they decided to invade the Earth out of spite, yet were either childishly chaotic or emotionless. The Wendigo, by contrast, is openly sadistic and has a twisted sense of humor, as he threatens to kill off an entire town when he targets one teenager.
  • Villain Has a Point: The Wendigo lists valid criticisms of Team Phantom and the Fentons when bringing up their inherent selfishness, especially Sam, who he calls out for putting her friends in danger by bringing them to the zoo just to free some animals that were already doomed.
  • Villainous Crush: Ember develops one on Danny after they accidentally kiss. Danny develops a crush on Ember as well.
  • Wasted Beauty: Paulina is basically a statue to Danny now—pretty to look at but nothing more.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Valerie, Team Phantom, the Fentons, and even Kwan rip into Sam for getting her friends in trouble due to her self-serving crusade against Nasty Burger and being too stubborn to apologize or acknowledge she did anything wrong. This leads to Danny temporarily kicking Sam off the team until her attitude improves.
      • Valerie is mad that Sam's protest cost the former her job at Nasty Burger because, unlike the Mansons, she no longer has a rich family with a fortune she can fall back on.
      • Danny and Tucker are angry at Sam since her actions ruined their presentation and got them all banned from their favorite hangout for an entire month, compounded by how they had no knowledge that she was going to make a statement against Nasty Burger's animal-based meals. They also point out that they have no reason to be grateful to Sam for paying to have the ban on them lifted since it's her fault they were kicked out in the first place.
    • Dani and Maddie call Sam out on endangering everyone by dragging them to the zoo to save animals that were already killed by the Wendigo.
  • Wendigo: Danny's primary opponent is the evil entity of the North who brings death and selfishness to its path. Although it's Played With as the creature explained "Wendigo" is not his name or what his species is called, he just went with the term because he felt it was fitting.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: The Wendigo actually praises Sam for her selfishness when she brings Team Phantom to the zoo to save the animals, which gets them into a fight with him. Sam is rattled by this.

Danny Phantom Vs The Beast of Gévaudan
  • Abhorrent Admirer:
    • Chloe instantly rejects Tucker on the spot and makes it very clear she won’t date him, especially since Danny warned her about him being a Casanova Wannabe.
    • Downplayed as while Danny does find Star attractive and is appreciative of her attempts to be nicer (despite her fumbling), he makes it very clear he wants nothing to do with her given her history of being a Beta Bitch to him and his friends.
    • In his era, Cedric Devereux had his eye on Catherine, who would go on to marry his then friend, Jean Chastel. She was the only woman in their village who wasn't wooed by his good looks or hollow charms, finding him unpleasant and boorish. His continued actions only further justified her hate for him.
  • Accomplice by Inaction: Kwan realizes he's this for not stopping Dash’s bullying of Danny in the past.
  • Adaptational Angst Downgrade:
    • Stella isn’t a Broken Bird Stepford Smiler here like she was in Stranded since she cut ties with her toxic family members years ago and rejected Jean-Luc Bevier’s advances, so she is much more well-adjusted as an adult and has a healthy relationship with both Johnathan and Star.
    • Due to Stella refusing to cheat on Johnathan with Jean-Luc Bevier, Star’s parents are still Happily Married and she wasn’t a victim of the Beviers' cruelty throughout her adolescence, thus making her an ordinary if unpleasant teenage girl who is rethinking her Beta Bitch ways thanks to Danny’s kindness.
  • Adaptational Badass: Jack is shown to have some affinity with mysticism as a result of his ancestor John Fenton Nightingale. It’s possible his offspring also have some magical talent.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Instead of being the Beast of Gévaudan like in many novel depictions, Jean Chastel is just a former friend of his.
  • Adaptational Intelligence:
    • Stella isn't as naive, immature, air-headed, ignorant or a Horrible Judge of Character here as she is in Flower princess11's Stranded series. She's aware that the A-Listers were a bad influence on her daughter due to enabling Star's Beta Bitch behavior. She was also smart enough to avoid leaving Johnathan for Jean-Luc.
    • If Stella’s testimony is accurate, then Star is more academically talented here than she was in canon.
    • Downplayed in Johnathan’s case as he was always aware that the A-Listers were terrible friends to his daughter Star in Stranded but he didn’t know how much of a bad influence they were on her until she eventually told him after she befriended Danny. Here, he’s known about Star's bullying thanks to their enabling and thoroughly disapproves of it.
  • Adaptational Jerkass:
    • Alicia is more greedy, amoral, and self-centered here as she’s willing to make deals with criminals like Razor/Rex Callahan, who sells animals and their parts to the highest bidder, by selling him the five chests of the Beast of Gévaudan to get rich regardless of how her family, even her sister Maddie, feels about it. It’s subverted when Alicia realizes she made a huge mistake in endangering the Fentons by convincing them to help her under false pretenses when the Beast of Gévaudan appears. Afterwards, she promises she'll try to be a better person if they help her.
    • In Stranded, Star’s initial bitchy behavior was a result of having neglectful parents and a snobby stepfamily, with Colette Bevier serving as The Corrupter by being a Big Sister Bully towards Star, causing her to fall victim to the A-Listers' toxic influence by joining them to escape her lonely, troubled existence at her house. Here, she has no such excuse and her Beta Bitch attitude is entirely of her own doing (although Star's parents admit that they’ve been too absent from her life to be a positive influence on her, which is why she hung out with the A-Listers). However, she is working on improving her awful personality thanks to her growing feelings for Danny.
  • Adaptational Name Change: Slightly downplayed but Star’s last name is “Greatley-Armstrong” here instead of “Strong” like in Stranded.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • Kwan becomes friendlier to Team Phantom after bonding with Sam.
    • In canon, Star was just a generic Beta Bitch but here, while she starts off that way, she’s slowly transitioning into a Jerk with a Heart of Gold thanks to her growing relationship with Danny, much like in Stranded. She becomes more grateful and apologetic to Danny after he protected her from a Wendigo-cursed Paulina and tries to be nice to him while they're in Paris, starting by thanking him for saving her.
    • Stella lacks the snobby, immature, and insensitive attitude of her Stranded counterpart and isn't a neglectful mother, as she disapproves of Star's Beta Bitch attitude and tries to get her daughter to abandon the A-Listers in favor of better friends like Danny Fenton. She also cut ties with her awful family and remains Happily Married to Johnathan, having refused to cheat on him with Jean-Luc.
    • Downplayed with Johnathan, who was still a well-meaning man and loving father in Stranded. However, his relationship with Stella is a lot less hostile and strained here since they're Happily Married. Like his wife, he also tries to be more involved with his daughter Star's life by encouraging her to make nicer friends with decent people like Danny Fenton.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: Stella goes from a spoiled, ditzy, gullible, Jerk with a Heart of Gold Broken Bird Womanchild who was a neglectful parent with a strained relationship with Johnathan and Star in Stranded to a mature, well-adjusted Nice Girl who is Happily Married to Johnathan and tries to be a good parent to Star here.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • In Stranded, Stella had a very strained relationship with Johnathan and Star due to leaving them for the Beviers. Here, she remains Happily Married to Johnathan and is much closer to Star, being a very caring if somewhat distant parent to her.
    • In Stranded, Stella was still in touch with her parents and remained close to her father even after finally disowning her mother. In this story, she cut ties with both of them after marrying Johnathan, to the point of changing her name.
    • In Stranded, Stella initially supported Star's friendship with the A-Listers because she didn’t know they were fair-weather snobs who were a toxic influence on her daughter (though she later admitted she never liked Dash). In this story, she is already aware of their unpleasant attitudes and hates them all except for the Lovable Jock Kwan.
    • In Stranded, Johnathan never liked Kwan because he was a bad influence on Star and ended up hating him after learning what a lousy boyfriend he was to his daughter. In this story, they’re on much better terms as Kwan is the only A-Lister Johnathan doesn’t have a problem with, to the point he is fine with Kwan joining his family on vacation in France.
  • Always Someone Better: It’s established that the Beast has a better healing factor than Danny.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Star would rather be in detention with Tesslaff or hang out with Kwan and Tucker than deal with her parents being affectionate with each other.
  • Amicable Exes: Star and Kwan broke up but remain close friends.
  • Anger Born of Worry:
    • Sam is upset when Danny reveals his secret identity in front of Kwan, Star, Alain, and Chloe after Cedric Devereux exposes it, but she decides to focus on stopping the Beast instead.
    • Star’s parents ground her for disappearing on them during the Beast’s rampage.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Danielle has developed a habit of teasing Danny about his relationships with girls, much to his irritation to the point he misses when she was clingy towards him.
  • Arc Words: The word "change" is repeated throughout the story.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Star doesn’t have a response when Danny asks her if she’s going to keep being nice to him from now on or just go back to being a Beta Bitch when they return to Amity Park.
  • The Atoner:
    • Kwan and Star do make an effort to be amiable to Danny in Paris to make up for how they used to bully him. Star’s parents also encourage her to do more to win Danny over, like inviting him to spend time with them.
    • After Alicia realizes she made a mistake by manipulating the Fentons into aiding her when the Beast of Gévaudan appears, she promises she’ll try to be a better person if they help her.
  • Bad Boss: Madame Dubois is very demanding and impatient with Chloe, expecting her to live up to the former's high standards as a stage clothing designer, cater to her every whim, and for Chloe to cut ties with her loved ones along with Danny because Madame Dubois sees them as distractions. During the Beast of Gévaudan's rampage at the hospital, she orders Chloe to still do her job, only to leave the latter outside when the Beast shows up while she hides, which results in Chloe almost getting killed and getting her leg broken. Dubois not only doesn't care about Chloe's condition, but still fires her for not doing her duty.
  • Barred from the Afterlife: Frostbite explains that beings not from Earth or worlds connected to it cannot be given afterlives in the Ghost Zone. This implies the Wendigo is either in his world's equivalent of the afterlife, or his soul is lost forever, a fate Team Phantom finds more fitting.
  • Beauty Is Bad: Danny makes it clear to Star that her good looks are her ONLY appealing trait because she was still a cruel bully to him.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness: Stella is just as lovely as her daughter Star and a much nicer person.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me:
    • Chloe apologizes to Danny for her rude attitude when he finds her missing necklace, which quickly gives way to her becoming interested in him.
    • Star does want to thank Danny for saving her from Paulina but struggles to figure out how to.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: Star and Danny get on each other’s nerves while they’re vacationing in Paris, which culminates in them kissing.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Star snaps at Danny when he calls her a satellite instead of an actual person.
    • Cedric Devereux becomes enraged when Danny mentions Catherine to him.
    • Alicia does NOT appreciate Cedric Devereux calling her ugly or mistaking her for a man.
    • Sam doesn’t appreciate the ghost of Marie Antoinette calling her “common”.
    • Chloe does not appreciate Tucker insulting her real accent.
  • Beta Bitch: Star is a deconstruction of one. Her stuck-up personality gives her parents no end of headaches thanks to the trouble she keeps causing and makes it difficult for her to become real friends with people such as Danny (the boy she has a crush on) who, unlike the equally snobby A-Listers, have no patience for her elitist attitude.
  • Better as Friends: Kwan and Star break up after realizing they don't have a lot in common and mainly dated to stay popular, but they're still friends because they enjoy each other's company on a platonic level.
  • Betty and Veronica: Played With. Chloe and Star mix this dynamic as they’re both romantically interested in Danny while in Paris. Chloe is a Nice Girl from a poor family who he just met while Star is a Defrosting Ice Queen with wealthy parents that he’s known since middle school.
  • Beware the Nice Ones:
    • Danny may be a laid-back Nice Guy but he's upfront about his hatred for the A-Listers and tells Star to her face he doesn't want anything to do with her. Kwan and Star are stunned by his harsh words.
    • Maddie has no tolerance for Madame Dubois’ elitism and selfishness, and threatens her into backing off when Dubois tries to hit her son Danny.
  • Beyond Redemption: Frostbite has told everyone that ghosts like this are banished to the Unworld.
  • Big Ego, Hidden Depths: It’s implied that Star is more insecure than she lets on with her snobby behavior because she hates being referred to as only a satellite instead of a person.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The Beast is slain for good, but only after many people have died, including Henri. Although Danny isn't outright forgiven by Henri's widow, he is at least assured that she doesn't blame him for her husband's death. In addition, Danny forms a friendship with Star and Kwan, the former becoming romantically interested in him, keeps in touch with Chloe who has broken away from Madame Dubois' influence, gains an ally in Larissa Headly, and his Aunt Alicia becomes generally nicer to him and the rest of his family. However, Danny's partnership with Rich is strained and it's apparent that both the Men in Black and the United States Military are becoming potential threats to him.
  • Blatant Lies: Madame Dubois has Chloe lie to Team Phantom that there isn’t enough room for them during production of Beauty and the Beast, but Alain is having none of that and offers them two tickets.
  • Blunt "No":
    • This is Danny's response when Star offers to have her and Kwan put in a good word for him in the A-List, since he completely lost interest in joining them a long time ago.
    • When Tucker tries to flirt with Chloe Garnier, she instantly turns him down because Danny warned her about his Casanova Wannabe tendencies.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: Much to Jazz and Sam's displeasure, Danny has gotten Danielle to enjoy the drinks he makes with Tucker of varying ingredients.
  • Brainless Beauty: Chloe mockingly implies Star is this by suggesting she can't count past three.
  • Broken Pedestal: Danny makes it clear to Star and Kwan that he’s lost all interest in wanting to be part of the A-Listers and outgrew his desire for popularity since he realized they’re just a bunch of rude snobs that are too obnoxious to even be in the same town with.
  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Gender-Inverted as while they're now broken up, Kwan is a cheerful Lovable Jock while Star is a snarky Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
  • Brought Down to Normal: Thanks to some magic, Cedric Devereux is rendered human again… albeit temporarily.
  • Brutal Honesty:
    • Danny doesn't sugarcoat his disdain toward the A-Listers to Kwan and Star. He also tells Star he doesn't want to be around her. Kwan actually admires his honesty despite this.
    • Stella likes Kwan since he’s not a bad guy but knows he can be dense.
    • Johnathan admits to his family that he never liked Paulina and that he especially never liked seeing Star with her.
    • The Fentons make it clear to Jack that he was the only one oblivious to Vlad’s murderous hatred of him. They also tell Jack that he is the kind of guy who causes a lot of collateral damage and misses all the signs that people hate him.
    • Chloe quickly rejects Tucker when he tries to flirt with her since Danny warned her about his friend's Casanova Wannabe tendencies.
    • Stella admits to Danny that she’s aware of how unpleasant her daughter Star can be.
    • Chloe flat-out tells Star that it’s her unpleasant attitude that’s keeping Danny from liking her.
    • Sam makes it clear to Star that she’s not friends with Team Phantom and knowing Danny’s secret doesn’t change that.
    • Tucker is open about the fact that he doesn’t like Chloe’s real accent.
  • The Bus Came Back: Alicia is mentioned in the beginning having been in France for hunting. She is the catalyst for the family heading to France.
  • Bully Turned Buddy:
    • Kwan officially buries the hatchet with Team Phantom, who take Sam and Valerie’s word on his good character.
    • Downplayed with Star, but she becomes more cordial to Team Phantom after Danny saves her from a Wendigo-cursed Paulina.
  • Cannot Spit It Out:
    • Star does want to thank Danny for saving her from a revenant-cursed Paulina but can’t work up the nerve to do it so she decides to postpone it until she and Kwan get back from their trip to France.
    • In Paris, Star can’t bring herself to tell Danny she’s been interested in him since he saved her from a revenant-cursed Paulina because she’s confused over her newfound feelings. Though with some encouragement from her parents, she works up the nerve to give him a kiss.
  • Canon Immigrant:
    • Star’s parents are Johnathan and Stella from Flower princess11’s Stranded series.
    • Jean-Luc Bevier from the Stranded series also makes a cameo when the Beast of Gévaudan steals his limo and clothes.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: The French military decide to capture Cedric Devereu alive.
  • Can't Take Criticism:
    • Star doesn’t like Danny throwing her flaws in her face.
    • Madame Dubois gets even nastier when someone insults her.
  • Career Versus Man: Madame Dubois tries to teach Chloe that her career as a clothing designer for the theater is more important than relationships. Thus, she wants her pupil to avoid Danny because Dubois claims Chloe will be more successful like her if she doesn’t get distracted by boys and hopes to earn her letter of recommendation.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Danny warns Chloe that his best friend Tucker is this since he unsuccessfully hits on every girl he meets. Sure enough, he does just that upon meeting Chloe, who swiftly rejects him.
  • Central Theme: Change, both good and bad. Some people can change for the better, others refuse and only make changes that enable their worst qualities. While outside influences are a thing, from people who want to mold you to fit their standards, or people who want what's best for you, it's always important to remember what you change about yourself is your choice and be sure not to change the best parts of you into something worse.
  • Character Development:
    • Danny makes it crystal clear to Star and Kwan that he has completely outgrown his desire to be one of the A-Listers after realizing how toxic they are and doesn't want anything to do with them anymore.
    • Sam is still against killing living beings but won’t stop Danny from killing the Beast of Gévaudan because she recognizes that he’s dangerous.
    • In the end at one of her environmental rallies, Sam worriedly checks on a police officer after he is hit with a tomato and heeds his warning to keep the noise down, showing she has not forgotten her lesson on compromise and recalling a certain good officer she met.
  • Chastity Couple: In Paris, Danny tells Star that him and Valerie didn’t kiss while they were dating, they just kept it casual by only holding hands and leaning on each other’s shoulders.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl:
    • Sam becomes territorial about Danny upon meeting Chloe Garnier.
    • Both Star and Chloe become this to Danny, much to his aggravation since he doesn’t want to listen to their arguing.
    • Stella is jealous of Johnathan’s work colleague Solene.
  • Comically Missing the Point:
    • When the Beast of Gévaudan tells the cowardly classist wealthy Frenchman (who we assume is Jean-Luc Bevier) that he wants his clothes, the Frenchman says they’re not for sale and offers to get the beast a copy of his suit in his size. The beast clarifies that he is just going to take the Frenchman's clothes.
    • When Danny tells Star to look at herself and see just why she’s not exactly someone he’d take to prom, she thinks he’s talking about something being wrong with her appearance and asks if she’s gaining weight.
  • Control Freak: Madame Gayle Dubois is very demanding and bossy towards Chloe, expecting her to only focus on her job of designing stage costumes and trying to sabotage her relationship with Danny because she sees him as a distraction.
  • The Corruptible: Star’s parents insist that their daughter’s Beta Bitch behavior is a result of the A-Listers’ toxic influence and that she is a good girl who just needs a friend like Danny to help her change for the better.
  • The Corrupter:
    • With the exception of Kwan and Valerie, Star’s parents see the A-Listers as this and for good reason since they bring out the worst in their daughter. Stella and Johnathan would prefer Star to make nice friends like with Danny Fenton.
    • Stella admits to Danny that she had to cut ties with her elitist mother in particular to prevent her family from being negatively influenced by the woman's unpleasant, snobbish attitude.
    • Danny and Alain try to get Chloe to quit working for Madame Dubois because they don’t want her to end up a bitter obnoxious snob who cuts her loved ones out of her life to focus solely on her career like her.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: To Cedric Devereux, it was unforgivable that his friend Jean Chastel “stole” Catherine from him.
  • Cunning Linguist: Frostbite has been learning multiple languages throughout his 1,000 years such as French as he reveals to the Beast.
  • Death by Adaptation: Jean-Luc of the Stranded series appears to be the snooty, rich Frenchman the Beast murders to steal his clothes.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: Star is this of the Beta Bitch because her unpleasant attitude severely strains her relationship with her parents and the boy she likes (Danny), who don’t tolerate her mean personality like the shallow, snobby A-Listers. Also, she comes off as less of an individual and more as a carbon copy and follower of her more popular fellow mean girl, Paulina, which causes Star to feel self-conscious about being seen as a satellite rather than as a person.
  • Deducing the Secret Identity: Larissa figures out that Danny Fenton is Danny Phantom after witnessing Dani turn back from a ghost into a human in her fight with the Beast of Gévaudan.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Star is willing to make an effort to be friendlier and kinder to Danny after the previous story.
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • Star doesn’t admit it but she didn’t consider if she was going to be nice to Danny permanently or just go back to the way things were when they return home. She also hadn’t thought about how everyone would react if they knew she was trying to be nice to Danny.
    • While Star and Kwan want to help Danny with his bullying problem, they think the best way to do it is by offering him the chance to join the A-Listers so Dash and Paulina will stop picking on him, since they agreed to let him become part of their clique for the chance to get closer to Danny Phantom. Star and Kwan are ignoring that Danny has made it painfully clear that he can’t stand the popular kids anymore and has completely lost interest in joining them, preferring to not be involved with them at all. To say this is poor thinking on Kwan and Star’s part is an understatement.
  • Dirty Coward:
    • A cowardly, classist, wealthy Frenchman (who we assume is Jean-Luc Bevier) is attacked by the Beast of Gévaudan and begs the creature to hurt his limo driver instead of himself because the driver makes small money and isn’t high-class, while also offering the beast a large sum of money. The beast is not interested and just murders the Frenchman before stealing his clothes and limo to get to Paris.
    • Madame Dubois locks herself inside and leaves Chloe to fend for herself outside the hospital when faced with the Beast of Gévaudan.
    • Whenever the Beast of Gévaudan is confronted with something his animalistic strength and cruelty can't save him from, his false bravado disappears. The first time he's hit by silver, learning he has a weakness, he panics and runs. Upon finding out his healing factor can't save him from drowning, he actually starts begging for mercy.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The explanation given for why the Beast made his first kill in 14-year-old Jeanne Boulet is because she openly badmouthed him after he was made a pariah.
  • Does Not Like Magic: Maddie hates magic as she considers it science’s greatest enemy.
  • Dramatic Irony:
    • After Cedric Devereux exposes Danny's secret identity as Danny Phantom to Kwan, Star, Chloe, and Alain, Kwan sarcastically wonders if the next big reveal will be his little sister Dani being a clone.
    • Alexandra doesn’t know that Danny Phantom, who she blames for her husband Henri's death at the hands of the Beast, is the same boy Danny Fenton she’s talking to when she assures him that Henri’s death isn’t his fault.
  • Dude Magnet: Both Danny and Tucker find Chloe and Star quite attractive.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: The Beast of Gévaudan is outraged when he finds out that nobody in Paris remembers him as Cedric Devereux when a cowardly Frenchman (who we assume is Jean-Luc Bevier) doesn’t know his name, especially since they thought of Cedric as a monster back then and they still forgot about him.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Kwan points out to Star that she doesn’t do a good job of acting like she doesn’t care about Sam’s opinion of her since it’s obvious how upset she is by the goth girl’s insults.
  • Endearingly Dorky:
    • Star’s awkward attempts at socializing with Danny are rather adorable as well as hilarious.
    • Chloe tells Alain that she likes Danny for this reason.
  • Entitled Bitch:
    • Star is actually surprised that Danny doesn’t like her and would refuse her offer to have her and Kwan put in a good word for him to the A-Listers, not expecting him to justifiably hate the clique and not want anything to do with them anymore for all their bullying. So as far as she’s concerned, Danny should be thankful that she suddenly decided to be slightly kinder to him like when she said “hi” to Nathan that one time. Downplayed as Star does eventually understand and respect Danny's decision when he explains his reasons, even if she’s hurt by his words.
    • Madame Dubois demands Chloe save her from inside the Palais Garnier during the Beast’s attack and to use her fake accent to avoid sounding like a "country bumpkin" or she won’t get that letter from her.
  • Entitled to Have You: As far as Cedric was concerned, Catherine was his so she had no right to reject him.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Frostbite explains that even evil ghosts like Spectra aren't evil enough to warrant banishment to the Unworld so quickly, as they're still willing to abide by rules like the Christmas Truce.
    • Defied with the Beast.
      • The Beast of Gévaudan does not appreciate being cut off by Danny. However, it's not actually because he dislikes rude behavior in general, he just dislikes any disrespect towards him personally, given his ego.
      • While a depraved serial killer, the Beast of Gévaudan initially appeared to not discriminate based on people’s financial status and is unimpressed when Jean-Luc Bevier cowardly tries to save his own skin by futilely pleading the Beast to target his less wealthy limo driver instead of him. However, the Beast later reveals he has no respect for the working-class either and not killing the driver was simply Pragmatic Villainy, as he had no qualms hurting the driver once he fulfilled the Beast's orders.
  • Everyone Can See It:
    • The Fentons bluntly inform Jack that Vlad’s murderous hatred of him was obvious to everyone but him.
    • Star’s parents can tell she likes Danny more than she’s willing to admit since she does admit she finds him cute and his Brutal Honesty toward her earlier is upsetting her more than she lets on. Their suspicions are proven true when Star suddenly kisses Danny on the lips.
    • It’s obvious to everyone, especially Alain, that Chloe has feelings for Danny.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Every member of Team Phantom refuses to attend the banishment of the wicked soul, considering it too much of an execution.
    • Danny does find Star attractive but has no interest in her for her less than admirable personality. He admits to Star he only saved her from the revenant-cursed Paulina because he doesn't like people hurting each other, regardless of how unpleasant Star is.
    • Danny does appreciate Star’s efforts to be nicer and tells her he believes she has the potential to be a better person. However, it’s not enough to make him like or even want to be around her after all of her Beta Bitch behavior in the past.
    • Despite handling lawsuits against the Fentons, Johnathan has nothing against them personally since they’re nice people and he’s just doing his job as an attorney.
    • Star’s parents love her but don’t approve of her bullying or the A-Listers, besides Kwan and Valerie, for encouraging it. They’d prefer Star to befriend a Nice Guy like Danny Fenton, especially since Valerie likes him.
    • Maddie still loves her sister Alicia but won’t tolerate her making deals with criminals like the poacher Rex Callahan/Razor, who sells animals and their parts to the highest bidder.
    • While Sam is against Razor’s idea of killing the Beast of Gévaudan, Danny reluctantly supports it because of the danger the Beast poses, but he won’t let Razor sell the Beast’s pelt.
    • While Alicia doesn’t want to change who she is, she doesn’t want to lose Maddie because of putting her sister in the crosshairs of the Beast of Gévaudan. She will try to become a better person if Maddie helps her.
    • Chloe might be a Nice Girl but makes her complete disinterest in Tucker immediately clear.
    • Danny eventually reaches his limit with Star and Chloe’s bickering and tells them both to shut it.
  • Everyone Knew Already: The Fentons bluntly point-out to Jack that he was the only one who was clueless to the obvious fact that Vlad hated him and wanted him dead.
  • Everyone Loves Blondes: Danny admits he can’t help but find Star attractive despite her unappealing personality, although to her credit she is working on improving herself.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good:
    • More like "selfishness and shallowness cannot comprehend selflessness and maturity" but Star is speechless when Danny reveals that, despite not liking her, he rescued her from a Wendigo-cursed Paulina out of genuine concern rather than personal benefit since he didn't do it to get on her good side.
    • Cedric Devereux had a hard time understanding why people disapproved of his depravity. In fact, he finds it almost insulting that Danny doesn't show any desire to abuse his powers like he would.
    • Cedric Devereux can’t understand why Danny lets Chloe and Star talk to him so freely and disrespectfully because, as far as he’s concerned, women are just property that should only obey.
  • Evil Is Petty: Cedric Devereux plans to kill Star and Chloe just to teach Danny a lesson.
  • Evil Makes You Monstrous: Cedric Devereux went from an entitled, violent sociopath to a mass-murdering werewolf-like creature in the form of the Beast of Gévaudan thanks to a curse.
  • Evil Old Folks: Downplayed with Madame Dubois as she’s more self-centered and uncaring than outright evil, not that it makes her any less unpleasant or unbearably contemptible to the heroes.
  • Eviler than Thou:
    • Team Phantom, especially Dani, find Cedric Devereux MUCH worse than Vlad Masters for being a classist pig and bloodthirsty cannibal.
    • Danny considers Cedric Devereux worse than Dark Danny, who only gave up his humanity to "stop feeling pain".
  • Exact Words: The Beast tells who may be Jean-Luc Bevier of the Stranded stories that he will take his clothes. Jean-Luc tells him they're not for sale but promises to get the Beast his own. The Beast reiterates he will take them. He does so after presumably killing Jean-Luc.
  • Excellent Judge of Character: Despite never meeting Danny, Star’s parents are far more approving of him than they ever were of the A-Listers (except Kwan and Valerie) because they can tell he’s a good person based on their daughter and Valerie’s testimonies of his character, and encourage Star to bond with him.
  • Expy: Madame Dubois is essentially a French version of Beatrice Traville from Stranded (who is actually of French descent) as a Hate Sink Evil Old Folk and Rich Bitch who quickly earns the ire of everyone.
  • Fair-Weather Foe: Kwan and Star plan to apologize and start over with Danny, first by offering him a shot at being in the A-List so Dash and Paulina will stop picking on him since they’d let him in to get closer to Danny Phantom. Not that Danny is having any of it.
  • Fair-Weather Friend: Danny makes it clear to Star that the A-Listers wouldn’t be her friends if it weren’t for her beauty, status, and popularity.
  • Fake Nationality: In-Universe, Chloe pretends to have a British accent to hide her thick Midwestern accent because she hopes to make it big in the fashion world, and thus wants to keep it secret that she was born to a poor family in Minnesota where her father owns a store that sells junk like vacuums and sneakers.
  • False Friend:
    • Star’s parents see the A-Listers (with Kwan and Valerie being the only exceptions) as this to their daughter, and for good reason since they bring out the worst in her. Danny also points out to Star that the A-Listers aren’t real friends because they only hang out with her for her looks, status, and popularity.
    • Dash and Paulina would only let Danny into the A-Listers to get closer to his superhero alter-ego. He, of course, does not appreciate it.
  • Fate Worse than Death: This is the punishment for the most evil ghosts since they’re banished to the Unworld, as Frostbite has explained.
  • Faux Affably Evil: The Beast of Gévaudan greets the Fentons politely before questioning who to kill first.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Star and Chloe have been at each other’s throats out of jealousy of the other for also liking Danny, but start to get along in the aftermath of the Beast of Gévaudan’s rampage due to their mutual admiration for Danny and his heroics.
  • Foil:
    • The Stella of this story is one to her Stranded counterpart. Stranded Stella started off as an air-headed, snobby Womanchild who was a Horrible Judge of Character with the A-Listers and looked down on Danny because she didn’t think a middle-class boy was good enough for her daughter according to her shallow standards, along with having a hostile relationship with her ex-husband Johnathan and being a neglectful mother towards Star. Here, Stella has long reformed from being a Spoiled Brat and is now a Nice Girl who is Happily Married to Johnathan and tries to be more involved in Star’s life by encouraging her to make nicer friends than the A-Listers like Danny Fenton, since she can tell he’d be a much better influence on her daughter than the snobby popular kids.
    • Danny is presented as one to the A-Listers. While the A-Listers are spoiled jerkasses who are at best Fair Weather Friends to Star and enable her snobby Rich Bitch attitude, Danny is a Nice Guy who is upfront about how much he dislikes Star and has no patience for her unpleasant behavior, but genuinely encourages her to be better.
    • Dash to Kwan as they’re both Dumb Jocks who are in the A-List. While Dash is a Jerk Jock who bullies people for fun and is intensely hated by Team Phantom, Kwan is a Lovable Jock who only bullies out of peer-pressure and starts getting along well with Team Phantom.
    • Star’s parents, the Armstrongs, are this to the Mansons as they’re both rich families with a teenage daughter who is in love with Danny, but have nothing else in common. The Mansons are unpleasant snobs who dislike the Fentons, try to get Sam to act more like a “proud aristocrat” like them, and disapprove of her friendship with and romantic feelings for Danny for shallow reasons. The Armstrongs are nice people who get along well with the Fentons, are very opposed to their daughter’s Beta Bitch attitude, and strongly encourage Star to get closer to Danny not just because she obviously likes him in a romantic sense, but so a Nice Guy like him can be a much better influence on her than the snobby A-Listers.
  • Forceful Kiss: Star gives a surprise one to Danny on the lips in Paris that leaves him speechless after finally accepting that she likes him for saving her from a revenant-cursed Paulina.
  • Freudian Excuse: Star’s parents have suggested that their own negligence and the A-Listers’ toxic influence are what brought out the worst in their daughter, and Danny can help undo the damage by being a Positive Friend Influence on her.
  • Freudian Slip: Star admits she has a thing for Danny while arguing with Chloe that at least she doesn’t have to change just because he doesn’t like the person she is.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Team Phantom understandably don’t like former Beta Bitch Star and mainly tolerate her for Kwan’s sake.
  • Full-Name Ultimatum: While pressuring Star into answering a question, her father calls her Estelle Joy Greatley-Armstrong.
  • Generation Xerox: Invoked by Stella, who encourages Star to give Danny a shot since the former became happy marrying a guy from a much more modest family background, Johnathan Armstrong.
  • Give Geeks a Chance: Star likes Danny more than she lets on and even works up the nerve to kiss him.
  • Gleeful and Grumpy Pairing: Kwan is a cheerful Lovable Jock while his friend Star is a snarky Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
  • Good Is Not Dumb: Star’s parents are very caring but are painfully aware of their daughter’s flaws and know that the A-Listers (except Kwan and Valerie) are bad people. Stella and Johnathan would prefer Star to make friends with Danny, especially since she clearly likes him more than she’s willing to admit.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Larissa means well but is willing to do questionable things to achieve results, which rubs the Fentons the wrong way.
  • Good Is Not Soft:
    • Danny yells at Chloe and Star to shut it after reaching the end of his patience with their constant bickering.
    • Danny may not be willing to kill Cedric Devereux when he becomes human again, but he’s okay with punching him out cold.
    • Maddie won’t hesitate to get violent with anyone who threatens her son, like Madame Dubois or Larissa.
  • Good Parents: While not perfect, Stella and Johnathan are very loving toward their daughter Star and encourage her to become a better person by making nicer friends than the A-Listers.
  • Grumpy Old Woman: Madame Dubois is a very unpleasant and demanding old lady.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold:
    • Star is a downplayed case. She’s still a snob but isn’t as bad as the other A-Listers, as she does warm up to Danny after he saves her from a revenant-cursed Paulina and remains genuinely good friends with Kwan and Valerie.
    • Star’s parents Stella and Johnathan are a more straightforward example as they’re genuinely kind and amiable people.
  • Happily Married: Star’s parents Johnathan and Stella are very loving and affectionate with each other, much to their daughter’s disgust and embarrassment.
  • Hard Truth Aesop: Danny and Sam make it clear to Star that just because she regrets her past behavior and is being a little nicer now, it’s not going to suddenly erase years of bullying and make them like or want anything to do with her.
  • Has a Type:
    • Star seems to have a preference for Nice Guys since she used to date Lovable Jock Kwan Li and is now interested in Danny Fenton for saving her from a revenant-cursed Paulina at the shelter.
    • Danny makes it clear to Star that he only likes girls who aren’t jerks like her or Paulina.
    • Chloe admits to Alain that she likes dark-haired, goofy guys like Danny.
  • Hate at First Sight: Chloe and Star don’t like each other when they first meet on account of Star’s unpleasant history with Danny and Chloe trying to present herself as European which only gets worse thanks to their growing romantic feelings for Danny making them intensely jealous of each other.
  • Hated by All:
    • In Paris, Danny outright tells Star and Kwan that there’s nothing cool or likable about the A-Listers since they’re just a bunch of snobby bullies who use their status to get away with being jerks to everyone that they see as beneath them. He has completely lost interest in joining them because they’re so unpleasant, it makes them too unbearable to even live in the same city with. Thus, he’d prefer if Star stayed away from him while he’s on vacation since she’s just as mean and annoying as Paulina. However, Danny is okay with Kwan since he’s nowhere near as bad as the other bullies.
    • The Fentons, Alain, and eventually even Chloe despise Madame Dubois for being a selfish jerk who treats everyone, especially her own employee Chloe, like dirt.
  • Hate Sink: Madame Dubois quickly gets on the heroes' bad side and even her protege Chloe doesn’t want anything to do with her in the end after realizing Alain was right all along about how horrible she is.
  • Healing Factor: It’s established that the Beast has a better one than Danny, making him nigh-impossible to kill or even subdue.
  • He Is Not My Boyfriend: Star is asked about her relationship with Danny by her parents. She vehemently denies liking him but they don’t buy since she clearly does care about his opinion and admits he’s cute, plus she eventually confesses to liking him after giving Danny a kiss.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • Jack knows Esperanto, which his family didn't know before he translated Wulf's speech. He can also read and pronounce Latin fluently when he casts an incantation on potions that’ll help stop the Beast. He explains that he and Vlad used to take a class on ancient languages back in college.
    • Danny does value more than looks in a girl as he’s not interested in the beautiful Star Armstrong because of her past Beta Bitch and isn’t even sure if he likes her now that she’s trying to be nice.
    • Stella reveals to Danny that her daughter Star is a good student who takes dancing, art, and cheerleading, and dreams of becoming an artist.
    • Star and Stella are quite knowledgeable about the theater and novel versions of Beauty and the Beast.
  • Hidden Disdain Reveal:
    • Danny admits to Star and Kwan that he has completely gotten over his desire to be in the A-Listers after realizing what unpleasant snobs they are and now can’t even stand being in the same city as them.
    • Star’s parents admit they’ve never approved of the A-Listers since they’re a toxic influence on their daughter, with Kwan and Valerie being the only exceptions. Johnathan especially makes it clear that he never liked Paulina or the idea of Star hanging out with her.
    • Inverted with Star regarding Danny. Star admits that she never hated Danny but doesn’t know what she thinks of him. After giving him a Forceful Kiss, Star finally realizes she’s developed feelings for him.
  • Historical Domain Character: Jean Chastel, the man who allegedly shot the Beast. Unlike many novel depictions, he himself isn't the Beast, but a former friend of his.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Star worries she’s this because Danny obviously prefers Chloe over her.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Zig-zagged with Chloe, as she does regard Danny and Alain as good guys but refuses to see how awful Madame Dubois is, mainly for the sake of her career. When Madame Dubois endangers Chloe's life during the Beast's rampage, she initially has enough and refuses to obey her mentor any longer... until Dubois threatens Chloe with being blacklisted and destroying her parents' workplace.
  • Humble Parent, Spoiled Kids: Star's former bullying strains her relationship with her parents, who are nice people that strongly disapprove of all the trouble she causes due to the A-Listers' corrupting influence on her. Though Star is undergoing Character Development.
  • Hypocrite: Star gets mad at Danny for giving her the cold shoulder while she’s trying to be sociable towards him, but he reminds Star that she was always a jerk to him in the rare times she didn’t ignore him. Star acknowledges his point.
  • I Can Change My Beloved: A familial example. Star’s parents want her to become a better person and believe that making nicer friends like Danny can improve her personality.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: While Stella does regret cutting ties with her family, she knows it was necessary to protect her daughter Star and husband Johnathan from her mother’s toxic influence.
  • If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: After Cedric Devereu reveals Danny’s secret identity as Danny Phantom to Star, Kwan, Chloe, and Alain, Sam makes it very clear she will make them regret it if they ever tell anyone that her best friend is Danny Phantom.
  • Ignorance Is Bliss: Kwan doesn’t notice the slight distress on everyone’s faces when he brings Star with him to the swap meet to hang out with Sam and Tucker.
  • Ignored Epiphany: Chloe still won’t quit working for Madame Dubois to get a letter of recommendation in the fashion industry even after Madame Dubois leaves her locked outside the hospital during Cedric Devereu’s rampage.
  • I Hate Past Me:
    • Star regrets her past rude behavior to Danny after he saves her from a revenant-cursed Paulina, especially that time when she called him a freak to his face.
    • Stella shamefully admits to Danny that she used to be just as much of a snob as her daughter Star back in her youth before she met her husband Johnathan.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Chloe admits to Danny that she became Madam DuBois’ assistant because she wanted to do more with her life than just sell old junk in her dad’s shop in Minnesota.
  • I'm a Doctor, Not a Placeholder: The ghost of Marie Antoinette tells Team Phantom that she didn’t help them fight off the Beast of Gévaudan because she’s a queen, not a fighter.
  • Innocently Insensitive:
    • Star and Kwan do want to solve Danny's bullying problem but they're under the impression that the best way to do so is by making him a member of the A-Listers, who are his bullies.
    • Kwan admits to Danny that telling his friends that the former and Star stopped hanging out with them because they decided they're still cooler than Tucker and Sam might not have been the best way of putting it.
    • Stella admits to Star that she should’ve spent more time with her to ensure her daughter made friends with nicer people than the A-Listers while Kwan is nearby. Stella realizes her mistake and tells Kwan that she didn’t mean him because he’s "decent". Kwan, as usual, is too dense to notice anything wrong with what Stella is saying and just thanks her for the compliment.
  • Instant Turn-Off: Tucker finds Chloe’s real accent a lot less attractive.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • In chapter 12, Chloe, Alain, and Kwan find out that Star kissed Danny when she shouts it during a jealous rage.
    • Danny reveals to Jack he knows about their ancestor John Fenton Nightingale.
    • Cedric Devereux reveals Danny's Secret Identity as Danny Phantom to Alain, Star, Kwan, and Chloe when he meets Danny at the Palais Garnier.
    • In chapter 13, the Fentons and Team Phantom find out that Alain, Star, Kwan, and Chloe know about Danny’s secret.
    • In chapter 19, Larissa reveals to the Fentons that she figured out Danny is Phantom after witnessing Dani's powers.
  • Irony: After learning about Danny’s secret identity, Star lampshades that the boy she previously looked down on was really the superhero the A-Listers admire.
  • It's All About Me:
    • Cedric Devereux’s only priority was getting what he wanted and it’s only gotten worse as the Beast of Gévaudan.
    • It doesn’t matter to Madame Dubois that Chloe got hurt by the Beast of Gévaudan because of her since Chloe failed to follow her orders and do her duty, so Madame Dubois fires her.
  • It's All My Fault: Alicia admits she messed up by putting Maddie’s family in danger by dragging them into her business with Rex/Razor Callahan when the Beast of Gévaudan shows up.
  • Jerkass:
    • To say Madame Gayle Dubois is very unpleasant is a HUGE understatement.
    • Cedric Devereux is worse than Dash and Vlad combined, and that was BEFORE he became the beast.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Star is turning into this since while still an insensitive and ignorant snob, she does make an effort to be nicer, especially to Danny out of gratitude.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • Danny has to point out to Star and Kwan that he has no reason to want to join the A-Listers anymore after they've done nothing but treat him and everyone else like dirt out of some immature sense of superiority and entitlement, much like Vlad. He also reminds Star that her obnoxious, snobby attitude in the past gives him every reason to avoid her. Star and Kwan have no rebuttal to Danny's points.
    • Danny does tell Star that, unlike Vlad, she has the chance to become a better person instead of just being another generic mean girl like Paulina.
    • Star’s parents aren't being jerkasses but point out she can find much better friends than the A-Listers, and encourage her to give Danny Fenton a shot since she obviously likes him and they trust Valerie’s judgment on his good character since she hangs out with him.
    • Much to Sam’s dismay, Danny reluctantly agrees with Razor that it’s best to put down the Beast of Gévaudan since it’s a threat. But he draws the line at selling the Beast’s pelt.
    • Danny doesn’t deny Star’s point that he doesn’t know her, but he counters that she doesn’t know him either.
    • Danny points out to Star that the A-Listers aren’t real friends since they only associate with her for her looks, status, and popularity.
    • Danny harshly reminds Star he has every reason to not associate with her because in all the time they’ve known each other, she wouldn’t give him the time of day unless it’s to insult him and his family. Star doesn’t deny it and admits to Kwan and her mother that she did call Danny a freak to his face once.
    • Star’s parents make it brutally clear that their daughter should ditch the A-Listers because they’re clearly a horrible influence on her and that she’s far better off making more sincere friends like Danny Fenton, who can put her on a much better path by being a Positive Friend Influence.
    • Danny is right about Tucker’s Casanova Wannabe tendencies when he warns Chloe about it, which Tucker only proves by trying to unsuccessfully flirt with her when they meet.
    • It’s hard to blame Chloe for rejecting Tucker because of his ego and lame come-ons.
    • Star calls Chloe out on pretending to be someone else by faking being European to hide that she’s a poor girl from Minnesota.
    • While Chloe was only saying it out of jealousy, she is right that it’s because of Star’s lousy attitude that Danny doesn’t like her.
    • Danny makes it very clear to Cedric that it was his own fault his life was ruined because his vile personality turned everyone against him even before he became a monster.
    • Harsh as she is, Sam is right when she tells Star that they’re not friends just because she decided to be a little nicer after years of bullying Team Phantom.
  • Jerkass Realization:
    • Star and Kwan feel remorseful for bullying Danny and letting the other A-Listers do it after seeing what he has to go through as Danny Phantom when he witnesses Henri being killed by the Beast of Gévaudan and all the destruction the monster caused.
    • Chloe regrets brushing off Alain’s warnings about Madame Dubois being bad news when the old hag callously puts her in danger during the Beast of Gévaudan’s rampage without a shred of regret, which resulted in Chloe almost getting killed and receiving a broken leg which nearly had to be amputated.
  • Kick the Dog:
    • Chloe contemplates selling her necklace that belonged to her mother as an heirloom for $1000 because Madam Dubois says it’s too common for her.
    • Cedric Devereux mocks Danny’s parents for Maddie rejecting the wealthy and powerful Vlad Masters to be with the bumbling Jack Fenton.
    • Madame Dubois doesn’t want Chloe to spend time with Danny because she sees him as a distraction from Chloe's job as a stage clothing designer, and even makes her refuse to let Danny or his loved ones into the production of Beauty and the Beast by lying that they don’t have anymore space.
    • Madame Dubois refuses to open the hospital door for Chloe and leaves her outside when the Beast of Gévaudan shows up.
    • The Beast of Gévaudan has multiple:
      • He plans to kill Star and Chloe simply to spite Danny.
      • He tries to eat Dani in front of Danny.
      • He kills Henri in front of Danny for trying to save the ghost boy and then laughs about it.
    • Madame Dubois fires Chloe after her leg was broken and she was almost killed by the Beast of Gévaudan for not doing her duty, despite Dubois being the one to put her in danger in the first place.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Unlike the otherwise friendly Wulf, the Beast of Gévaudan is a vicious werewolf and an unrepentant murderer who holds an outright hatred for humanity and a desire to continue his savage killing spree.
  • Killed Off for Real: The Beast of Gévaudan murders Henri in front of Danny, the first time a present character has explicitly died in the series.
  • Lack of Empathy:
    • Danny calls Star out on being too shallow and self-absorbed to notice how unpleasant she comes across to people who aren’t popular like her.
    • Even before his descent into a monster, Devereux was shown to have no such semblance of care for his fellow man, right down to not caring about Catherine hating him for unintentionally killing her father.
    • Madame Dubois coldly fires Chloe after she breaks her leg and is nearly killed, not caring that she put Chloe in danger in the first place by making her follow her orders during the Beast of Gévaudan’s rampage.
  • Lampshade Hanging: The Fentons bluntly tell Jack that he was the only one who never noticed Vlad’s murderous grudge towards him.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After enduring all her insults, Danny refuses to associate with Star in Paris unless necessary but he makes it brutally clear that he doesn’t enjoy her company at all.
  • Late to the Realization: The Fentons make it brutally clear to Jack that he was the last one to realize that Vlad hated him and wanted him dead.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Star and Kwan are becoming less cruel and arrogant than the other A-Listers since they’re making an effort to be nicer to Team Phantom.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: Star and Danny have this dynamic while they’re vacationing in Paris with their respective families, as they spend almost the whole time arguing with Danny even refusing to associate with her unless necessary. Star’s parents ignore her many denials of her feelings for Danny, which isn’t helped by Star’s confession that she finds him cute and her realization that she likes him after giving him a surprise kiss.
  • Like Mother, Like Daughter: Invoked by Stella, who encourages Star to give Danny a shot since marrying a middle-class guy like Johnathan Armstrong worked out well for her.
  • Like Mother, Unlike Daughter: Stella is the opposite of her spoiled daughter Star: polite, kind, and mature.
  • Locked Out of the Loop:
    • Alicia doesn't know about Danny's secret identity (because the Fentons won't tell anyone even if they're family) or much about the Disasteroid due to negligence.
    • The Fentons point-blank tell Jack that he was the only one who couldn’t see that Vlad hated him and wanted him dead.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: It's implied that Star only hangs out with the A-Listers because her parents weren't around much to spend time with her thanks to being busy with work and socializing.
  • Lovable Jock: Kwan is one without the A-Listers around as he’s pretty friendly and apologetic to Danny in Paris.
  • Lovable Coward: Downplayed and subverted with Tucker as he’s only against Star’s decision to help Danny fight the Beast of Gévaudan because it’s too dangerous, but goes along with it when the other teens decide to join her.
  • Love Redeems:
    • Stella went from a selfish snob much like her daughter Star to a Nice Girl after falling in love with Johnathan, and wants Star to date Danny so he can do the same to her.
    • Star’s growing romantic feelings for Danny are slowly making her a better person.
  • Loving Bully: After giving Danny a surprise Forceful Kiss, Star admits to her mom and Kwan that she did always like Danny deep down, but was in denial and hid it by acting mean to him.
  • Mama Bear: Maddie has no problem threatening Madame Dubois into backing off when the old harpy tries to hit Danny for insulting her. She also punches Larissa in the face for threatening Danny.
  • Mistaken for Romance: While Star and Danny are sitting next to each other to see Beauty and the Beast at the Palais Garnier, Stella mistakes the awkwardness between them for a romantic atmosphere.
  • Moral Myopia: Star gets upset with Danny for giving her the cold shoulder while they’re in Paris when she’s trying to be nice to him but he just reminds that all of her past bullying has done nothing to make him like her.
  • Morality Pet:
    • Stella wants Danny to be this to Star like how Johnathan was to her since he made her a better person than the spoiled snob she used to be.
    • Alain tries to be this to Chloe since he doesn’t want her to change herself just to please someone as awful as Madame Dubois.
  • Must Make Amends:
    • While in Paris, Kwan’s nice to Danny to make up for his past rude behavior to Team Phantom.
    • Star’s parents encourage her to do this to Danny by inviting him to spend time with her at the theater since they’re hoping they can become friends and he’ll be a better influence on her than the A-Listers.
  • My God, What Have I Done?:
    • After being called out, Star regrets her past cruel behavior to Danny but doesn’t know how to make it up to him, especially since he made it clear he doesn’t want to be around her.
    • Alicia regrets putting the Fentons, especially Maddie, in danger when the Beast of Gévaudan shows up.
    • Kwan regrets letting Dash bully Danny so much in the past when he sees how tough Danny has it as a superhero, especially when he’s haunted from witnessing the Beast of Gévaudan kill Henri.
  • Named by the Adaptation:
    • Since the legend of the Beast only suggests it was a werewolf, an actual name was never given. His real name in this story is Cedric Devereux.
    • Star’s last name is revealed to be Greatley-Armstrong.
  • Never My Fault:
    • Devereux refuses to ever see his actions were in the wrong. To him, Catherine was in the wrong to reject him, despite that she had valid reasons to not want to be his wife. He hates Jean for "stealing" her, despite that he genuinely earned Catherine's love. He sees the world has gone to turn on him, despite him assaulting Catherine and his inhumane levels of violence on the battlefield justifying their desire to not associate with him any further.
    • Everyone is disgusted when Madame Dubois fires Chloe for not doing her duty and almost losing a leg to the Beast of Gévaudan despite her being the one to put Chloe in danger in the first place.
  • Nice Girl:
    • The ghost of Marie Antoinette is very courteous and helpful to the Fentons and Team Phantom in their mission to stop the Beast of Gévaudan in Paris.
    • Stella is a much more pleasant and considerate person than her bratty daughter Star.
  • Nice Guy: Star’s father Johnathan is a very caring father and loving husband to Stella who bears no ill-will to anyone.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Star doesn’t mind giving Danny a Forceful Kiss
  • No Social Skills: Star has a hard time interacting with teenagers who aren’t shallow snobs like the A-Listers since her attempts to reconcile with Danny come off very poorly because of her own ignorance and insensitivity.
  • No Sympathy: It doesn’t matter to Star’s parents that she was almost killed by the Beast or that the boy she likes Danny prefers Chloe over her since she’s still grounded for disappearing on them.
  • Not Good with Rejection: Cedric Devereux did NOT take it well when Catherine chose Jean Chastel over him.
  • Not Helping Your Case:
    • Danny points out to Star that being an entitled Spoiled Brat isn't endearing herself to him.
    • Catherine already despised Cedric Devereux for accidentally killing her father and his future atrocities only deepened this feeling.
  • "Not So Different" Remark:
    • Danny bears no ill will toward Kwan since he only acts like a bully to be popular, like how Danny wanted to be once.
    • Danny points out to Star and Kwan that the A-Listers act a lot like Vlad since they're also elitist jerks that think they're better than everyone and believe they can do whatever they want because of their status. Star even admits he has a point since Vlad gives Danny a good reason to hate people of higher status than him.
    • Stella confesses to Danny that she was just as much of a snob as her daughter when she was Star's age until Johnathan helped make her a better person. Thus, she believes Danny can do the same thing for Star since a Nice Guy like him is a much better person than the A-Listers.
  • Nothing Personal: While Johnathan has handled lawsuits against the Fentons, he has nothing against them since he can see they’re nice people and he’s just doing his job as a lawyer.
  • Oblivious to Hatred: The Fentons lampshade that Jack was the ONLY one who didn’t notice that Vlad Masters hated him and wanted him dead.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: Stella reveals to Danny that she had to completely cut ties with her elitist mother after marrying Johnathan because her mother was always hostile to him and didn’t believe he was good enough for Stella due to his common background, and she didn’t want the woman's Rich Bitch attitude to become a toxic influence on her family.
  • Old Money: Stella is revealed to come from a generations-wealthy family.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten:
    • Star won’t let Paulina forget about when she tried to eat the former while under the Wendigo’s curse, partly because she’s still disturbed by what Paulina said she would do to Star and partly because Paulina won’t apologize for it.
    • Sam and Kwan are still disturbed that Dash tried to eat the latter while under the Wendigo’s curse, especially since Dash talked about how gross he’d be about eating Kwan and doesn’t realize how freaky it is to act like it never happened.
    • Tucker is still uncomfortable that Sam admitted earlier that she looked at him like she wanted to eat him while under the Wendigo’s curse.
    • Danny doesn’t let Star forget about the time she called him a freak to his face.
  • Ordered Apology: Downplayed but Star’s parents at least try to get her to make things right with Danny for all her past mistreatment, especially since they can see she feels guilty about it and is developing feelings for him.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: Based on what his pelt gave, the Beast appears to be a mix of various animals, not just a wolf. His appearance is mostly wolf-like, but he also has a powerful Healing Factor and is hinted to be able to turn human at will.
  • Papa Wolf: Maddie has to restrain Jack when he tries to pick a fight with Alicia for angrily snapping at Danny Phantom by reminding him that her sister doesn't know it's their son, not that Jack is convinced Alicia would care if she knew.
  • Parents as People: Star’s parents blame themselves for their daughter falling into a bad crowd like the A-Listers because they’ve been too busy working and socializing to spend time with Star and realize what she was turning into at school.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: Stella mentions to Danny that Star has a fondness for cheerleading and dancing.
  • Peer-Pressured Bully: Star shows a kinder and more sociable, if awkward, side to Danny when she’s not around the other A-Listers except for Kwan.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • The A-Listers have gained a newfound respect for the Fentons after they helped Danny Phantom save Amity Park from the Wendigo, so they’ll stop making anymore mean jokes about them.
    • Tucker agrees to hang out with Sam and Kwan at the swap meet, partly because Dash won’t be there. Afterwards, he admits it was surprisingly not as horrible as he remembers it was. Sam agrees and says it must be because Kwan has matured a bit.
    • While surprised, Tucker and Sam allow Star to hang out with them when Kwan brings her to the swap meet to meet Danny so they can spend time together.
    • Sam has defended Kwan by telling her friends he’s a good guy when away from the A-Listers' negative influence and Danny decides to trust her judgement.
    • Danny admits he has nothing against Kwan since he understands the latter's desire to fit in with the popular kids like he once wished to.
    • While in Paris, Star does make an effort to be nice to Danny and thanks him for saving her from a revenant-cursed Paulina at the shelter, something neither of them ever expected her to say to him.
    • A bit downplayed but Kwan and Star want to apologize and start over with Danny, and offer to put in a good word for him with the A-List by asking Danny to join the group so Dash and Paulina will stop picking on him. Not that Danny is having any of it.
    • While Kwan is hurt by Danny’s Brutal Honesty, he does respect him for it.
    • Star is hurt by Danny’s "Reason You Suck" Speech but doesn’t refute him and accepts his refusal to be involved with the A-Listers since she understands why he hates them.
    • Despite not liking Star, Danny still tells her she has the potential to become a better person, unlike Vlad.
    • Kwan and Valerie are the only A-Listers Star’s parents actually like. Stella admits that Kwan is decent compared to his shallow, Jerkass friends.
    • Star’s parents apologize to the Fentons profusely for all the trouble Star causes or doesn’t stop causing.
    • While sitting next to each other for Beauty and the Beast at the Palais Garnier, Star and Danny compliment each other on being good kissers after her Forceful Kiss.
    • Stella consoles Danny about Star's past rotten behavior towards him and informs him that she would like him to date her daughter because a Nice Guy like him would be a much better influence on Star than the A-Listers so she'll be put on the road to becoming a better person.
    • Alain and Star’s family invite Team Phantom to see a production of Beauty and the Beast with them (Star’s parents want her to invite Danny as an Apology Gift).
    • Instead of selling or throwing away her family heirloom necklace on Madam Dubois’ orders, Chloe gives it to Danny.
    • Star and Kwan agree to keep Danny’s powers a secret out of gratitude for everything he’s done.
    • Kwan offers to Sam that he’ll make sure Dash doesn’t pick on Team Phantom sometimes since it’s the best he can do.
    • Tucker admits he appreciates Star’s new nice side when she chooses to help save Danny from the Beast of Gévaudan.
    • Marie comes up with a magic concoction that Danny uses to heal Jack, Chloe, and Alicia of their injuries.
    • Larissa not only refuses to arrest Danny Phantom, but promises to keep his and Dani's powers a secret.
    • Alicia checks on Danny before parting ways with the Fentons. Later, she refuses to give away his secret identity when interrogated by the military.
  • Platonic Life-Partners:
    • Chloe made it clear she’s not interested in dating Alain.
    • Sam makes it clear she’d never go out with Tucker and is even grossed out at the thought.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Cedric Devereux is extremely classist and sexist as he admits he doesn’t respect the working class and only treats women as trophies.
  • Popular Is Evil: Danny has this opinion of the A-Listers since they use their status to get away with mistreating anyone they see as beneath them like Vlad did and refuses to associate with Star for this reason.
  • Positive Friend Influence:
    • Star’s parents believe that Danny can be this to Star. Stella even tells him that he can make Star a better person if his kinder nature rubs off on her to undo the damage the A-Listers did with their toxic influence.
    • Alain and Danny try to be this to Chloe by making her realize a letter recommendation isn’t worth getting involved with someone as awful as Madame Dubois who clearly doesn’t care about her and pressures her into cutting ties with her loved ones so she only focuses on her career.
  • Post-Kiss Catatonia: Danny is left stunned and speechless after Star unexpectedly kisses him.
  • Preppy Name: Star’s full name is revealed to be Estelle Joy Greatley-Armstrong.
  • Proud Beauty: Deconstructed with Star as Danny points out that she’s too obsessed with her looks and popularity to notice how unlikable she is to anyone not in the A-List because of her Beta Bitch personality.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Danny eventually reaches his limit with Star and Chloe’s bickering over him and tells them to shut it along with delivering each of them a "Reason You Suck" Speech.
  • “The Reason You Suck” Speech:
    • Danny lays into Star and Kwan about how the A-Listers are just a bunch of snobs that are too unpleasant to even live in the same town with and, contrary to what they think, none of them are cool since they’re just as stuck-up and self-centered as Vlad Masters.
    • Danny gives one to Star and Chloe after getting tired of their fighting by calling Star out on her immaturity, clinginess towards him, and inability to change her unpleasant behavior, and Chloe out on her possessiveness towards him and refusal to go back to her family out of a desire for a better life as Madam DuBois’ assistant regardless of how unpleasant and demanding the latter is.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Star’s parents are very loving and friendly but cannot stand the A-Listers (besides Kwan and Valerie) for being a terrible influence on their daughter. They encourage her to make better friends like with Danny, since Star is clearly developing feelings for him and they trust Valerie’s judgement on his good character since she sees Danny as a friend. Star’s parents even apologize profusely to the Fentons for her troublesome behavior.
  • Redemption Rejection: Team Phantom point out to Cedric Devereu that he could’ve used his second chance at life to start over as a regular man again but he refuses since he prefers being a monster who does whatever he wants.
  • Reformed Bully: Kwan. Star is also trying to become this, as difficult as it is.
  • Reformed, but Not Tamed: Star is learning to become a better person but she can still be rude, arrogant, and insensitive.
  • Reformed, but Rejected: Sam makes it clear to Star she still doesn’t want anything to do with her even if she is genuinely trying to be nicer.
  • Rejection Affection: Star has a crush on Danny even though she’s aware that he doesn’t like her.
  • Rejected Apology:
    • Unlike Kwan, Star doesn’t get the luxury of Danny's forgiveness because he still resents her for her Beta Bitch behavior and makes it clear to her to stay away from him.
    • Downplayed with Alicia. After encountering the Beast of Gévaudan, Maddie doesn’t forgive her but will give her sister one last chance to prove she’s capable of change since Alicia does regret her actions and helped the Fentons, starting by never saying nice things about Vlad Masters to her… or ever.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Somewhat. Chloe admits to Alain that she likes Danny because he reminds her of her First Love from middle school, a boy who also had dark hair and was kind of a dork.
  • Rescue Romance: Star has begun to develop romantic feelings for Danny after he protected her from a revenant-cursed Paulina, which eventually culminates in her giving him a kiss.
  • Rich Bitch: Star is a Beta Bitch from a wealthy family, though she is struggling to move past this.
  • Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense:
    • Star comes from a privileged family but her social tact leaves much to be desired when dealing with people who aren’t spoiled bullies of the same social class as her.
    • Downplayed with Stella, who is an Old Money socialite but admits to not being a good parent since she spent more time socializing than being a good influence on her daughter Star.
  • Rich Suitor, Poor Suitor: Star comes from an Old Money family while Chloe comes from a poor family with a junk shop, and both girls are interested in Danny.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: Henri is killed by the Beast of Gévaudan to show the type of dangers the Paranormal Entities are capable of.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: Kwan doesn’t notice when Sam or Star are being snarky.
  • Satellite Character: Danny tells Star she'll just be Paulina's blonde twin if she never changes.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Gender-Inverted with Kwan who is a fun-loving, upbeat Lovable Jock while his friend Star is more serious and sensible.
  • Secret-Keeper:
    • After Cedric Devereu reveals to Star, Kwan, Chloe, and Alain that Danny Fenton is Danny Phantom, Team Phantom have them agree not to tell anyone about it.
    • Larissa agrees to keep Danny and Dani’s ghost powers a secret.
  • Self-Made Man: Johnathan Armstrong is from a middle-class family and became a very successful lawyer.
  • Shallow Cannot Comprehend True Love: Cedric Devereux can’t understand why Maddie rejected the rich and influential Vlad Masters to be with the bumbling Jack Fenton.
  • Shared Family Quirks: To Jazz’s dismay, Dani loves drinking Danny’s disgusting smoothies.
  • Shed the Family Name: Stella had her surname legally changed to "Greatley" to distance herself from her family.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Danny makes it clear to Chloe and his family that he has no interest in Star.
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • Star’s parents encourage her to hang out with Danny since she clearly likes him, he seems like much better company than the A-Listers and would be a better influence on her, and Valerie’s friendship with him at least gives the impression that he’s worth getting to know. Stella is overjoyed when she hears Star kissed Danny.
    • Alain encourages Chloe to break away from Madame Dubois’ negative influence and give Danny a chance since she clearly likes him.
  • Shipping Torpedo: Madame Dubois disapproves of Danny and Chloe’s growing relationship because she feels it will distract her protege from her job.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Danny says he and Star would only become a couple "if [they] were the only ones in a desert island".
    • The Beast defeats the Nameless Horror before violently eating it, angrily muttering in French that translates to "he did not taste good".
    • The Beast taunting Danny during their penultimate battle about how the latter is actually responsible for Henri Hernandez's death is similar to what Green Goblin said to Spider-Man about Aunt May before their final fight in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Star was genuinely touched by Danny saving her life, which causes her to develop a growing crush on him and she eventually kisses him.
  • Skewed Priorities: Star and Chloe angrily berate Tucker for hitting on them instead of focusing on taking down the Beast.
  • Slap-Slap-Kiss: Danny and Star argue a lot in Paris over why the former is reluctant to give the latter a chance due to her history of bullying when she tries to sincerely befriend him… at least until Star kisses him on the lips.
  • Smarter Than You Look:
    • Stella reveals to Danny that Star isn’t as vapid or stupid as her Brainless Beauty and Popular Is Dumb act implies because she gets wonderful grades.
    • Chloe gives Team Phantom the idea to hurt the Beast from the inside to counter his healing factor.
  • Snark-to-Snark Combat: Star has this with Danny, Sam, and Chloe while in Paris.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: Star struggles to be friendlier to Danny but makes an honest effort.
  • Socialite: Deconstructed with Stella, who comes from a privileged family and actively socializes with fellow elites. However, she confesses to Star that she should’ve spent more time with her daughter to make sure she befriended nicer people than the A-Listers (except Kwan and Valerie) rather than eagerly going out with her girlfriends to spend the money Johnathan makes.
  • The Sociopath: Jazz notes that their foe has all the signs of narcissistic personality disorder. And whether as Cedric Devereux or the Beast of Gévaudan, he displays many classic traits of a sociopath — unwilling or unable to see himself in the wrong, lack of concern for others, a smug sense of superiority, impulsive reactions, prone to violence, and a refusal to understand others.
  • Sociopathic Soldier: Cedric Devereux had a reputation for being particularly violent on the battlefield, which made people want to avoid him.
  • So What Do We Do Now?: After Star kisses Danny on the lips in Paris, they wonder what’ll happen between them now since things can’t go back to the way they were now that they both know Star has feelings for Danny.
  • Spoiled Brat: Star is a lazy, spoiled bully from a rich family, though is trying to move past this.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Stella comes from an Old Money family but is a generally grounded and compassionate person.
  • Stunned Silence: Danny is left speechless after Star gives him an unexpected kiss on the mouth.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Star generally comes across as cold and unpleasant but shows a softer side to her friends and family as well as her love interest Danny. Star’s parents are hoping that Danny’s influence can bring out more of her ‘sugar’ side.
  • Superior Successor: Stella tells Danny she believes he can be a much better boyfriend for Star than all her past boyfriends because he can encourage her to be a better person with his kind, well-meaning nature.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: Danny listens to Stella’s life story and attempts to convince him to befriend her daughter Star in the hope of being a good influence on her because he wants the conversation to finish so he can go back to dealing with the Beast of Gévaudan.
  • Sympathy for the Hero:
    • Star's parents do sympathize with Danny for all the trouble their daughter causes him and strongly urge her to make amends with him.
    • Team Phantom, the Fentons, Alain, Star, and Kwan all feel terrible for Danny having to witness Henri’s death at the hands of the Beast of Gévaudan and all the trouble that monster has caused.
  • Take Over the World: Cedric Devereux admits to Danny he has no real plan but he wants to take over France, have all the women he wants, and kill until everyone learns to fear and respect him.
  • They Died Because of You: Alexandra blames Danny Phantom for her husband Henri’s death for not stopping the Beast.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Danny can’t bring himself to kill Cedric Devereux when he becomes human again, but goes through with it after he makes himself inhuman permanently.
  • Token Good Teammate: Kwan and Star are the least cruel and arrogant members of the A-Lister as they’re working on fixing their negative qualities, starting by making amends with Team Phantom.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Star, Sam, Chloe, Kwan, Alain, and Tucker muster the courage to go save Danny from the Beast of Gévaudan.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass:
    • Cedric Devereux was already a sociopath but became MUCH worse after the curse turned him into the Beast of Gévaudan.
    • Star’s parents claim their daughter used to be a sweet child but years of Parental Neglect and the A-Listers' toxic influence brought out the worst in her, thus turning her into the Beta Bitch she is now. So they’re hoping Danny can bring back the Nice Girl she was by being a Positive Friend Influence.
  • Took a Level in Kindness:
    • Star and Kwan make an effort to be nicer to Team Phantom as they try to get along with Sam and Tucker at the swap meet. Also, while in Paris, Star genuinely thanks Danny for saving her from the Wendigo-cursed Paulina at the shelter and even kisses him.
    • Stella reveals to Danny that she was a snob growing up much like her daughter Star until she met Johnathan and he changed her for the better.
  • Too Much Alike: Star and Sam openly dislike each other yet have a lot in common; they’re both rich girls who are rough around the edges but can show a soft side, have feelings for Danny which they don’t express in the best way (to the point they try to convince themselves that they don’t like him like that), and can be very clingy towards him, especially when other girls express interest in him.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Star’s parents appropriately see the A-Listers (except Kwan and Valerie) as this to their daughter because they enabled her bullying.
  • Tsundere: Star likes to act as if Danny's opinion doesn't matter to her but her parents don't buy it because of how obviously upset she is by his words. Star's parents even accuse her of liking Danny, but she refuses to acknowledge it. The fact that Star admits that she didn't think Danny wasn't cute doesn't help her case. A confrontation with Danny afterwards culminates in her spontaneously kissing him.
  • Turned Off by the Jerkass: Star’s snobby Beta Bitch behavior in the past has killed off any interest Danny had in her for her beauty.
  • Turn the Other Cheek: Danny doesn’t hold anything against Kwan for his past bullying because he understands the latter was just trying to fit in with the popular kids (like Danny did once) and Sam can confirm his good character.
  • The Unapologetic:
    • Paulina never apologizes for trying to eat Star while under the Wendigo's curse.
    • While in Paris, Danny reminds Star of the time she called him a freak to Valerie and refused to apologize even when he was there, instead saying she meant it. Thus, he doesn't like being around her.
    • Madame Dubois is not the least bit sorry about firing Chloe or putting her life in danger during the Beast of Gévaudan’s rampage.
  • Unexpected Kindness: Star is just as surprised as Danny that she’d thank him for saving her from a revenant-cursed Paulina.
  • Ungrateful Bitch:
    • Madame Dubois fires Chloe for failing to do her duty despite everything she’s done for her mentor and almost getting killed by the Beast of Gévaudan, which only happened because Dubois put her in danger in the first place.
    • Chloe also complains to Team Phantom about Madame Dubois throwing away and ruining the jacket she gave her for the rain.
  • The Unmasking: Cedric Devereux reveals Danny’s Secret Identity as Danny Phantom to Alain, Star, Kwan, and Chloe when he confronts Danny in his human disguise because he can recognize the ghost boy's scent.
  • Unrequited Love Switcheroo: Downplayed. Danny had some interest in Star at the beginning of the series but gave up on her on account of her snobby attitude, which made her about as unappealing as Paulina. In this story, Star has grown to like Danny (or at least realize she’s always liked him deep down) after he rescues her from a Wendigo-cursed Paulina, enough to give him a surprise Forceful Kiss.
  • Uptown Girl: Stella Greatley comes from an Old Money family and is Happily Married to the formerly middle-class Self-Made Man Johnathan Armstrong. Stella even encourages her daughter Star to give Danny a shot for this reason since she made the right call by dating someone from a modest background.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Stella tries to convince Danny to give her daughter Star a chance by telling him that she was always a good girl until falling victim to the A-Listers' corrupting influence and Danny’s kindness can help bring back out the person she once was, buried deep inside her.
  • Villain Respect: Downplayed but the A-Listers have developed a newfound respect for the Fentons after they helped Danny Phantom stop the Wendigo’s attack on Amity Park, so they’ll stop making anymore mean jokes about them like being ghost hunting loons.
  • Villain Reveals the Secret: While disguised as a human, Cedric Devereux exposes Danny's Secret Identity as Danny Phantom to Alain, Star, Kwan, and Chloe when he confronts Danny at the Palais Garnier because he can recognize the ghost boy's scent.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: In a sense with Sam since while she’s not Danny’s girlfriend anymore, she’s still very protective of him. Sam mentally promises that Star will lose her super long hair if she makes another insult at his expense.
  • Virtue Is Weakness: Cedric mocks Danny for his refusal to use his powers to dominate normal people or take the former's life when he’s turned back into a human.
  • Wants a Prize for Basic Decency: Star is flabbergasted that Danny refuses to associate with her so he needs to remind her of her past bullying and point out he's not going to suddenly like her just because she recently decided to be a little nicer to him.
  • Warts and All: Star’s parents dearly love her even though they know how much of a brat she can be. Stella even talks Danny into giving Star a chance since he can help improve her abrasive personality by being a Positive Friend Influence on her.
  • Wasted Beauty: Danny does think Star is pretty but cannot stand being around her because of her snobby attitude.
  • Well, Excuse Me, Princess!: Star comes off as this to Danny in Paris since she can’t help but act as her usual haughty self, even when she’s trying to be nice to him.
  • We Used to Be Friends: This take sees the Beast as a man named Cedric Devereux, who was once friends with Jean Chastel, the man who shot the Beast, and how their friendship soured.
  • Wham Episode: This story is the first in which present day humans are killed, including Henri Hernandez when he saves Danny from being clawed by the Beast, cementing the kind of dangers the Paranormal Entities bring.
  • What the Hell Is That Accent?: It's noted Chloe's way of speaking sounds Trans-Atlantic, yet peppers in a bit of French.
  • Where Did We Go Wrong?: Star’s parents wonder if it’s their fault their daughter turned into a bully that hung out with a bad crowd at school because they were always too busy with work or socializing to be a more positive influence in her life.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Maddie is revealed to be afraid of spiders as she and her family come across a J'ba Fofi, a giant spider.
  • Wolf Man: The Beast of Gévaudan is a human turned werewolf. He can run on all fours like a wolf, but stands mostly bipedal.
  • Would Hurt a Child:
    • Madame Dubois has no problem abandoning Chloe during the Beast's rampage to save herself and tries to hit Danny with her bag for insulting her until Maddie forces her to back off.
    • Larissa is willing to threaten Danny to get him to admit to having ghost powers.
  • Wrong Assumption: Danny thinks Star is mocking him when she asks if his tastes changed since he dated the goth girl Sam because of his growing interest in Chloe.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are:
    • Danny informs Star that, unlike Vlad, she has the chance to look back at her life and make a change for the better, to be more than just a carbon copy of Paulina.
    • Stella informs Danny that, despite the unpleasant history between himself and her daughter Star, he can help her become a better person since she just needs a Nice Guy like him to act as a Positive Friend Influence and bring out her better nature like Johnathan did with her.
    • Alain and Danny each tell Chloe that a bright girl like her doesn’t have to waste her life working for someone as vile as Madame Dubois to become successful.
  • You Killed My Father: Cedric Devereux accidentally killed Catherine's father.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Maddie is revealed to have an overpowering fear of spiders. To her dismay, one of the creatures Razor has enslaved is a J'ba Fofi, a cryptid from the African Congo that happens to be a giant, venomous, man-eating spider.
  • Worthy Opponent: The Beast considers Danny the "most fun" person he has ever dealt with.

Danny Phantom Vs The Rock Apes
  • A Day in the Limelight: After spending the last three stories as a supporting character, Valerie is finally given a more important role, as Danny and she finally try to talk for the first time properly about their failed relationship after they both end up on a job in Vietnam.
  • Dirty Coward: Download pathetically begs the Rock Apes not to kill and eat him upon capture, suggesting they instead feast on Thrash for having more meat, much to his partner's justified anger.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Momentarily, once Danny sees the mystery person who carried his unconscious body away is a very attractive young lady who dresses in a rather revealing jungle attire, he forgets that he was kidnapped before clearing his throat and continuing.
  • Dramatic Irony: Played for Laughs. The Dairy King is resentful of whoever it was who got Vlad's mansion, where he still lived, destroyed and asks Danny to take care of this person. He doesn't know it was Danny, who clearly forgot the Dairy King was still there and regrets doing so while laughing nervously about it.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Ida is all about individuality and self-expression like her granddaughter, but even she is disgusted by the sight and smell of Sam's "natural" green hair dye.
    • Jack refuses to fire upon the ghosts of soldiers who died in the Vietnam War, saluting them in their presence.
  • Forceful Kiss: Layla, before even saying her name, does this to Danny in an attempt to try and win him over. All it does is leave him embarrassed and startled, much to her disappointment.
  • He Is Not My Boyfriend: Brenner of the Ghostbreakers states her partner, Sullivan, is not her boyfriend. His reaction to this is being hurt, as he thought they were close. She retorts that he keeps calling her "dude".
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Star not only encourages Danny and Valerie to hash out their unresolved issues, but is even willing to step back from her own blossoming relationship with Danny if the two still have feelings for each other and decide to give things another shot.
  • Jungle Princess: The mystery robed figure is a young girl named Layla, who dresses and lives rather accordingly to the archetype.
  • Killer Gorilla: While not necessarily gorillas despite being referred to as such, the Rock Apes are violent and quickly become temperamental.
  • Lethal Chef: Downplayed, but many have called Danny’s cooking rather average.
  • Ninja: One of the hunters hired is a ninja known as the Kitsune.
  • Samus Is a Girl:
    • It's not until Vaquero Esqueleto faces her that the readers and characters in-universe learn that the Kitsune is a woman.
    • The robed figure who aided the Apes and carried Danny to their treehouse after he's knocked out is soon shown to be a girl named Layla.
  • Shout-Out: To The Jungle Book (1967). Thrash expects real life jungles to be like the one from the movie. "Where are the singing dancing bears? The friendly apes that want to be like us? The hypnotizing snake?"
  • Take That!:
    • In her excitement over hanging out with Quinn, Jazz says her previous tiredness is now "as vacant as a Republican politician's heart".
    • After attempting to make the meat of a junglefowl more palatable, Danny comments that it at least tastes better than what's served at a Golden Corral... before admitting that it's not a high bar to climb.
  • Tastes Like Chicken: Like in the real world, it’s brought up by many that snake tastes like chicken. Similarly, Tucker mentions he has eaten alligator and compares it to chewy chicken.
