The kidnapped class of Hope's Peak Academy (art by Crowkerus). note

How many ways can the same story be told? [...] The same stories shift depending on the ways in which they’re narrated. A politician may say they are the most powerful person in the world and bend every reporter to their will, while the general public grits their teeth and lives through the hellscape said politician has created. Even the classic conflict of pitting a hero against a villain is much different depending on which side is claiming to be the hero, and in most cases, it’s both; this, of course, makes neither truly heroic.
Chiyo Kumoshita

A class: sixteen students, each one a prodigy in their chosen field.

Two birds: white and black, kind and cruel, their origins concealed.

A mansion: crumbling at its cornerstones, with more secrets than meets the eye.

An ultimatum: if a student succeeds in killing another, the rest of the class is to die.

Chiyo Kumoshita wakes up in a mansion with no memory of how she got there. You've heard the rest before.

Danganronpa: A Stormy Last Hurrah is a completed Danganronpa fanfic written by Crowkerus. The fic is semi-illustrated and written in a script format, with original mascots and an original class of students. Based somewhat thematically upon the Shakespeare play "The Tempest".

A prequel for the fic, Danganronpa Epitome: Cross Your Aching Hearts is currently being released. There is also a Free Time Event fic that is currently on hiatus called Danganronpa: A Stormy Last Hurrah - Clear Skies Mode.

This fanfiction provides examples of:

  • An Arm and a Leg: Chisaki loses an arm below the elbow as a result of breaking the rules for the phone call motive. Maru also loses an arm as punishment for killing both Iris and Ririka since they can't be executed due to Alexei being the first victim and Iris being determined as his killer.
  • Anyone Can Die: As expected of a Danganronpa fanfiction, no character is safe. Not even the mastermind, the love interest, or the protagonist!
  • Arc Words: "Tying up loose ends".
  • Cast Full of Gay: None of the cast is straight, with everyone being either gay, bi, pan, or ace.
  • Everyone Went to School Together: Supposedly, although none of the cast remember their school years together. It turns out they did go to school together - but not at Hope's Peak Academy. Instead, they were all enrolled in Hasunokei International Academy.
  • Hero of Another Story:
  • Love Hurts:
    • Just hours after Chiyo and Amal get together, Amal is found dead.
    • Although Alexei and Sentarou were never officially dating, they both had feelings for each other. It was those very feelings that inspired Sentarou to try and end the game by killing himself.
    • Aster is executed shortly after they and Chisaki start dating.
  • Official Couple:
    • Chiyo and Amal are set up as this, with most of the characters insistent they have feelings for one another and people even making bets on how long it'll take for them to start dating. They confess to each other in Chapter 3 though Amal dies that same night, cutting their relationship tragically short.
    • Tsukino and Aster get very close to each other in a short amount of time, and are a couple by Chapter 3. Though like Chiyo and Amal, the relationship is cut short by Aster confessing to killing Amal and being executed. While it's been stated that Tsukino does have some relationships after the killing game, she never truly stops loving Aster.
    • Tristan and Maru realize their feelings for each other in Chapter 5, and they get together after the killing game ends.
  • Passing the Torch:
    • Because Chiyo passes out after seeing the first dead body, Amal takes over the role as the point of view character for the 1st trial.
    • After Chiyo's death in chapter 5, her role as the protagonist is passed onto Maru.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: And are there lots of them! Tsukino, Alexei, Aster, Chiyo, Maru, Hirono, and Claude all receive one.
  • What If?: Clear Skies Mode is set in an alternate universe where, despite being kidnapped, the cast is not forced into any sort of killing game, and is given more time to interact and socialize.
  • You Wake Up in a Room: How Chiyo begins the story.
