Billy and Mandy of the Night
written by I Am The Night is a fanfic of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
The story starts in the far future of 3194. Empress Mandy speaks to her agent before the agent travels back in time. Its missions are twofold: to assist her younger self in her rise to power, and to kill the founders that caused the destruction of her dying empire.
This fanfic contains examples of:
- A Nazi by Any Other Name: The US Government. Lead by President Robert Johnson, they formed a praetorian guard called State Security, intentionally invoking the acronym SS to bring resemblance to their German predecessors. Fittingly, their first on screen act involved them rounding up minorities to send to death camps.
- Adaptational Badass:
- Billy. He outgrew his stupidity, learned how to properly use guns and became more sensitive to other people's disposition.
- Mandy. She obtained a supernatural scythe called Judgement that possesses a greater destructive output than Grim's own.
- Dib. Also counts as Adaptational Villainy. Through pacts with demons he gained regenerative abilities and the ability to create earthquakes. Such was the strength it allowed him to destroy multiple buildings and kill thousands including his father.
- Adaptational Villainy:
- Irwin. In the show Irwin was a goofy friend who sometimes became an annoyance to Mandy. The fic takes it up a notch and makes him a full blown racist and stalker who wanted to rape Mandy and planned to take pictures of her in her house while she was changing.
- Dib. In the show he was a neurotic conspiracy theorist who hunted Zim for the sake of his own sanity. And he and Zim eventually came to respect each other, albeit reluctantly. In the fic he becomes a Satanic worshiper, though only as much as his ego allows him to follow others for the sake of getting power for himself. He also became a neo-nazi who lead a company that manufactured weapons for the evil government, gassed minorities through a glass wall that resembled the gas chambers, and raped and killed and ate thousands of people, up to and including his sister.
- Armies Are Evil: State Security. They round up minorities with the intent to kill them in concentration camps.
- Asshole Victim: Vicky was a sociopath who loved torturing kids and just finished splashing some pedestrians while driving through a puddle for a cheap laugh. Unfortunately for her and her nice car it drew the attention of a odd kid looking for a ride. The police found her body dumped on the road the day after.
- Big Bad: Shared by two characters, directly and indirectly affecting the protagonists negatively.
- The hunter. Had enough firepower to make the protagonists run into hiding and dead-set on killing them, the hunter was the biggest and most direct threat to their lives.
- President Robert Johnson. His fervent zeal for white nationalism indirectly caused countless problems for the protagonists, often through violent encounters with his staunch supporters.
- The Bully: Sperg. Eventually became a neo-nazi when he replaced the heart tattoo on his arm with a swastika and led a group of thugs into gang raping Trixie.
- The Cameo: Townsville is mentioned fairly often and characters from Invader Zim, Ben 10 and Dexter’s Laboratory show up. Eventually becomes a crossover when the foreign characters take part in the plot.
- Crapsack World: Endsville is filled with bigots, idiots, narcissists and corrupt cops that run a protection racket for its citizens. White nationalists have gained power in America, created concentration camps for ethnic groups, invaded Australia, and the world is sinking into a downward spiral. If the canibals, slaves and nuclear winter are any indication, the future isn’t any better.
- Dirty Cop: The police force of Endsville. The majority are corrupt cops taking cuts from the varius illicit activities in their town, and the rest are rapists and killers in uniform abusing their power.
- Kick the Dog: A very literal one by Mindy. After Mandy destroyed her reputation and her popularity plummeted, she took it out on her chihuahua and kicked the poor dog to death. She later paid Sperg and his group of thugs to gang rape her rival Trixie Tang.
- Meaningful Name: Max.It's Latin. It stands for greatness, for rising up and dominating all beneath you. There will come a day when all the world will bow before me, when I am sole master of all that exists. I will be judge, jury and executioner for those who spread their depravity throughout my world. I will be feared and revered. One day, I will be the greatest of all. I always thought Max would be a more appropriate name, even if it were for a boy.
- Multiple Gunshot Death: A Chinese couple that served the protagonists a meal. After the protagonists left the restaurant the couple were gunned down by drunk racists in a drive-by shooting. Grim confirmed their death.
- Official Couple: Billy and Mandy.
- Original Character: Max. A good friend to Billy and Mandy. Subverted when it’s revealed he’s the one trying to kill them.
- Parental Betrayal: The hunter once it's revealed he’s Max, Mandy’s creation who went rogue to seize power for himself.
- President Evil: President Robert Johnson. Leader of the new and improved Nazi regime.
- The Revolution Will Not Be Civilized: The rebellion that usurped Mandy's empire sought to replace it with a more tyrannical one that watches and controls what the citizens are allowed to think.
- Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Empress Mandy’s intent when sending her agent back to the past. And subverted when the agent turns tail. Played straight with Empress Mandy, who warns her younger self of the mistakes she made in the future and to pick a better path.
- Take Over the World: Mandy’s goal. If the future is any indication she succeeds at it.
- Time Travel: The start of the story. Explored once more when Billy, Mandy and Grim use Mandark’s time machine to go to the future to meet her future self.
- Two Roads Before You: Mandy when she was forced to choose between staying with Billy and leaving the world to its destruction, or controlling the world at the expense of abandoning her friend. She takes a third option when Billy offered her the possibility of ruling the world together.
- Wham Episode: Chapter 11 when Mandy finds the lifeless bodies of her parents.
- Wretched Hive:
- Endsville. The school is filled with students aspiring to be career criminals, teachers that arrive on class drunk and would rather take drugs than teach their students, and eventually became a place to spread propaganda for the future Nazi Youth. That doesn't include the narcissistic citizens who only care about how they look, the corrupt police force that takes cuts from every gang in the city, or the urban warriors that encourage the idea of hating everything non-human like Junior.
- Townsville. Originally ravaged by monsters until the city broke, it was sealed off from the rest of the world with fences and military checkpoints to keep people from escaping. The citizens fell into depravity and the population became one of prostitutes, drug peddlers, rapists and killers with gangs ruling sections of the abandoned city.
