Bad Prediction AU is a Steven Universe series of Fan-Art and fanfics made by JigokuHana and BoringArtist.

Ruby is unable to save Sapphire. Her form is destroyed, and the persistent Crystal Gems are finally captured. Pink Diamond's ruse as Rose Quartz is found out, and as punishment, she is stripped of her colony and her Pearl is rendered permanently mute.

Thousands of years later, after the Earth has been colonized, Pink Diamond falls in love with Greg at the Human Zoo and gives up her physical form to give birth to their son, Steven.

The story can be followed on JigokuHana's tumblr account.

Bad Prediction AU provides examples of:

  • Adult Fear: Pearl sees Steven and Connie fuse into Stevonnie and quickly tries to get them to unfuse because she knows what Homeworld does to cross-gem fusions.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Amethyst calls Steven "Pinkie".
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Agua Nueva Agate is responsible for looking after the toddlers and children of the Zoo. She acts rather sweet towards them, but will happily rat out her subordinates if they do something wrong or insult a Gem of higher rank - except for the especially "juicy" stuff, which she will instead keep to herself and use as blackmail.
  • Character Development: As to be expected from a Steven Universe work, the characters still grow and change overtime. While the exact events haven't been revealed as of this writing, the "Movie Era" drawings summarize the characters' arcs:
    • Pearl went from semi co-leader to second-in-command, having grown to be reliant and more independent, knowing she can just be capable and strong as anyone else, even as a "Pearl". She also regained her voice and is finally able to talk again, albeit with a stutter.
    • Advertisement:
    • Amethyst went from a isolated and scared loner fending for herself to a more secure person that can trust and rely on others, and is now much more relaxed thanks to being surrounded by those she loves and trusts.
  • Civil War: Mentioned within the "Movie Era" drawings is that the Crystal Gems are trying to reform Rose's original message about the Earth to be about both Gems and organics, and for liberation and freedom (as technically there's not even an Earth, but a second little Homeworld there instead). When one of the Diamonds first sides with Steven, things get complicated, and thus a civil war breaks out.
  • Evil-Detecting Baby: When Steven was a baby, he generally liked Pearl, Yellow Pearl and Blue Pearl. When White Pearl holds him, he immediately starts crying and reaches out for Pearl.
  • Goth: Amethyst's design has a more overtly goth-esq look to her, her clothes giving an intentionally tattered design, more prominent make-up and with a very bat-like design to her Agate-form.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • The Earth is gone with all life on it, but the various characters from Beach City in canon exist here as Zoomans. This includes Greg, who Pink still has Steven with, and Connie, who still becomes Steven's friend.
    • Ruby and Sapphire still start a relationship together and fuse into Garnet (at least momentarily) following Sapphire getting poofed at the Sky Arena.
    • The Beta Kindergarten is still constructed and Jasper still comes out perfect, despite the Beta Kindergarten being haphazardly created to crank out Gems during the war in canon.
    • Spinel is still left behind and forgotten in the garden by Pink, only discovered thousands of years later when the Gems visit the place.
  • Scars Are Forever: When White Diamond renders Pearl permanently mute to punish Pink, there are visible cracks around her throat and the base of her neck that remain for thousands of years. Likewise, the cracks over White Pearl's broken eye are still there long after whatever was done to her.
  • Talking with Signs: Since Pearl cannot talk, she uses her holographic abilities to project symbols to communicate.
  • Yandere: Spinel still believes Steven to be Pink Diamond and is determined not be left behind again.
