An Act of True Humanity by World_of_Pure_Imagination is a My Hero Academia fanfic. It's been almost ten years since Izuku Midoriya led the Quirkless Revolution. Instead of leading the Japanese branch of Q Society, he now leads a quirkless nation, the Antarctic Republic, into a new golden age. He is also getting married soon to his confidant and the love of his life, Melissa Shield.

Meanwhile, it's been almost ten years since Pro Hero Ground Zero last saw the quirkless child he used to bully. Instead of just anger, Katsuki feels regret and wishes to make amends with the youngest political leader in the world. Well, he gets that chance when the new Japanese Ambassador to Antarctica needs a few Pro Heroes to escort him.

An Act of True Humanity contains examples of the following:

  • Adaptational Badass: Between leading a Quirkless Revolution and becoming the Antarctican President, Izuku is willing to stand up for himself and his followers, even standing up to Bakugou on multiple occasions.
  • Demoted to Extra: Besides Bakugou, Iida, Uraraka and Kirishima, all of the students at U.A. are demoted to little more than occasional cameos. Principal Nezu and Aizawa do have a scene with Izuku recovering from the League of Villains' assassination of the Q Society Branch leaders during the first negotiation conference. The League of Villains do play a major role in the plot, but no characters make a major appearance.
  • Enemy Mine: The Q Society and Pro Heroes team up to defeat All for One in a grueling fight.
  • Fantastic Ableism: Tension between the quirkless and quirked is much more intense in the story than in canon. The quirkless are discriminated against openly and without punishment by those with quirks, while the language of the quirkless used at quirk users at times brings to mind that of X-men villains in calling those with Quirks freaks and 'not normal', and violence against those with quirks by the quirkless is a genuine concern.
Deku: A real future where you’re not judged or ostracized for being a true human amongst the freaks!
  • Fictional Country: After the Quirkless Revolution and All for One's death, Marie Byrd Land was transformed from a frozen, uninhabited region in Antarctica into a quirkless country led by President Izuku Midoriya.
  • Outcast Refuge: Izuku has founded the Antarctic Republic for the sake of protecting the Quirkless from their superpowered oppressors, as the Fantastic Racism against them only grows worse as the quirkless population keeps dropping.
  • Title Drop: Occurs at the very end, when Taneo Tokuda explains the name of his award-winning photograph, depicting Pro Hero Ground Zero saving Deku, the leader of Q Society in Japan, from anti-Quirkless policemen.
Taneo Tokuda: At first, I considered naming it ‘A Hero and a Rebel’, but that didn’t sound right. Then I thought about naming it ‘The True Hero’, but that didn’t seem fair, because that would imply Deku was only a victim here. He said in an interview that he was prepared to not go down without a fight when Ground Zero suddenly acted on his own accord and let him go. He acted not just as a hero, but a human being too. That’s when it hit me. The title of the photograph should be what it really is: An Act of True Humanity.
  • The Worf Effect: The League of Villains gets defeated offscreen to make the threat of the Q Society more severe in story.
  • Your Terrorists Are Our Freedom Fighters: The Q society and other quirkless rights groups are labeled villains by many, and sometimes their language and risks of actions do lean into that.
