Fan Nickname / Witch Hat Atelier

Go To

Due to its laundry list of unique names, the amount of variations of said names due to different translators or the fact that some of the names are difficult to pronounce, the fans have created a list of nicknames for the various characters of Witch Hat Atelier.

    General
  • "Harry Potter with a Better Magic System" - One of WHA's nicknames. This is due to the fact that both WHA and Harry Potter have a very similar premise and plot structure, which, contrary to popular belief isn't considered a bad thing. In fact, those who use this nickname are sometimes Harry Potter fans themselves who actually find the magic system in WHA to be more concrete and filled with less plot holes than HP.
  • "Witch Pain Atelier" - This is due to what happens to...several characters in WHA as well as WHA's ability to handle incredibly confronting materials that is not often discussed in Manga.

    Characters
  • "Coco Puff" - A nickname for the main heroine. A very obvious pun to the fact that Coco is just one word off to the very famous chocolate cereal brand.
  • "Custard" - Another food-related nickname meant for Custas, whose name sounds quite close to the delectable cream.
  • "Tartah Sauce" - Another food-related nickname, this time for Tartah. Again, another pun of the fact that his name sounds very similar to tartar sauce.
  • "Prince Oreo" - Another food-related nickname (Start to see a pattern here?). This is a nickname used for Eolio Ezrest, crown prince of the Zozah Peninsula. Due to how...weird his name is meant to be pronounced, some fans decided to just call him Oreo because it rhymes.
  • "Eggween" - A nickname for Iguin whose name in French is literally Egween. Fans immediately ran with it due to how silly the name is. Yes, we promise that this would be the final egg-related pun.
  • "Tets" - A shortened form for Tetia.
  • "ARGOTTHE" - A combination of every single variation of Agott's name. Due to much confusion on what would consider the canon name for Agott, some fans had decided to just combine all of them.
  • "Ribbon Girl" - Before her name was announced, this was the nickname for Ininia due to her heavy ribbon-esque uniform, which is very pretty to look at.
  • "Ollie, Olli-O" - Olruggio's nickname.
  • "Cheefrey" - Quifrey's name is pronounced like in French, so the 'Qui' is meant to sound like 'Key'. Doesn't stop some folks from intentionally pronouncing his name like that though.
  • "King Beefcake, King Himbo" - A name meant to denote's Deanreldea Ezrest's...um...clothing attire.

    Groups and Organisations
  • "Medieval Drip, Drip Hat Atelier" - One thing that fans have noticed is that Shirahama can draw some really, really fashionable clothings that somehow complement the high medieval aesthetic of Witch Hat Atelier.
    • "Brimmed-Hat Drip, Brimmed-Hats Get All the Drip" - This is turned up to 11, as even more fans like the fashion choice of the Brimmed Hats, examples include Coco's Brimmed Hat outfit or Ininia's uniform which are considered as one of the prettiest outfits in the series.
  • "The Flying Inquisition" - A nickname for the Knights Moralis, the magical police in charged of maintaining magical order and mind-wiping unknowing who stumble upon the magical arts. So named because of their role and the fact that they fly.
  • "Magical al-Qaeda" - The name for the Brimmed Hat group. For obvious reasons.
  • "Magical Nuke" - Because of how comprehensive and practical WHA's magic system is, some fans have gone to great lengths to see how they can create their own spells, some of which includes a magical nuclear warhead. For fun. This is also could be used to describe the various forbidden magics that had permanently warped the landscape during the past war.
