Go To

Page listing nicknames given to hololive members, or anything within their channel's stream, that originated from fans. Most names can go in here, but those that are confirmed to have been created by a hololive member (whether intentionally or not) are excluded (e.g. YAGOO, Fuutan, BANpire, Burgerfox).

For non-fanmade names such as those above, see the name tropes listed under the Characters/hololive pages.

    Multiple streamers/In general
  • homolive - For hololive as a whole, considering the sheer number of Pseudo-Romantic Friendship pairings among them, as well as some actual incidents involving lesbianism, implied or otherwise.
  • Glass Cannon - In the hololive context, it refers to those who are quite aggressive in their flirting, but quickly become a flustered mess if anyone makes an advance on them.
  • The rabbit hole - A name for the agency itself, referring to the process of discovering hololive through a few innocuous clips, getting the YouTube recommendations filled with hololive, progressing to attempts at watching massive backlog of clips and stream archives and eventually watching as many live streams as possible, possibly actively donating to a favorite performer. Sometimes referred to as the "Peko hole" in reference to Pekora, hololive's sole rabbit girl.
  • PLAN B - Fun with Acronyms applied to the members of hololive Japan's 5th generation (Polka, Lamy, Aloe, Nene, and Botan) with the implication that they're YAGOO's backup plan to realize the idol dream.
  • HoloFive - Another nickname for the 5th generation, as a pun on the name of the organization itself; tends to refer to them in the context of being a Super Sentai team.
  • HoloHouse - Refers to Coco, Kanata, Suisei and Rushia (and sometimes Anemachi)'s shared living space within the same apartment complex; Coco and Kanata in one unit, Suisei and Anemachi in another on the same floor, and Rushia in another unit somewhere else in the complex with possibly more additions for other members.
  • HoloMeth - A name for Holomyth, the current generation of hololive EN, so used because their streams are noted to be very effective in dragging people down into the rabbit hole that is hololive, which is likened to an addiction. It can also be attributed to Coco and Haachama, the two predecessors who are most fluent in English but are also infamous for Asacoco and bizarre cooking respectively.
  • EnMa - A nickname for the hololive EN Manager who joined Ame, Ina, and Gura's Left 4 Dead 2 stream and carried the girls to victory note . Coincidentally enough, the name happens to match the holoMyth theme since Enma is the Japanese name for Yama, Buddhist god and judge of the underworld.
  • HoloRap - Used to refer to the rappers of the group, primarily Watame and Calliope, though Mio and Amelia are sometimes included.
  • Forbidden Knowledge - Used to refer to any evidence of the talents' real-life/past identities (or parodies of such), since it's discouraged to bring it up.
    • The 4chan equivalent is "Room-mate". The term is commonly used when a user wants to ask about, or respond to posts with, information that can only be made with knowledge of the real identity of the talent. As moderators will remove posts that contain doxxing, these questions & answers will be limited in scope and avoid exposing information about the talent like names, pictures or specific locations they might live.
  • HoloBirds/HoloTori - Used to refer to the bird-themed idols: Subaru, Kiara, Reine, Mumei, Lui, and potentially Kronii due to her preferred crow Animal Motifs. The Reine, Subaru, and Kiara trio in particular is also referred to as the "Turducken", due to their fandom-ascribed Animal Motifs. Kaela may also be included due to her penguin motif. HOLOTORI would later be made into an official unit with the first five.
  • HoloRodents - A variant of the above that refers to the members with rodent Animal Motifs such as Ayunda Risu and Hakos Baelz. Pekora is considered part of this even though rabbits are lagomorphs and not rodentia note . Kanata in her second outfit may or may not count, given her reputation as a gorilla among the fandom.
  • HoloCopters - Used to refer to the idols with rotor-esque hair or accessories that have been used in that capacity: Aki, Aqua, Polka and Kronii.
  • HoloBabies - Originally refers to Sakura Miko and Himemori Luna, whose childish personalities and voices (as well as Luna being 0 years old) portray them as oversized toddlers compared to their peers. This eventually became something of an Ascended Meme category after the debut of holoX, due to fans noticing how there always seems to be a Token Mini-Moe in (most) successive generations who fits the bill of "baby" for one reason or another, either in stature, demeanor, voice, or all. Amusingly, Iroha is considered by many to be an honorary HoloBaby due to the slight lisping of her voice, and her ability to understand such members' often indecipherable "baby accent".
  • horrorlive - Used to refer to the trend of horrific short videos that some of the talent has been putting out, including Haachama's split personality arc that began in February 2021.
  • Forehead gang - The fanspeak for an unofficial group of members with a Forehead of Doom that's revealed via a costume update, such as Ina, Polka, Korone, Matsuri and Watame.
  • Hololive/Grand Order - Refers to HoloEN Gen 2, due to many of its members being designed by notable artists who are well known among the Fate/Grand Order fandom. Specifically, this is used to refer to Sana, Kronii, and Baelz, but IRyS, Kiara, Ina, Flare, Aruran, Altare, Dezmond and Syrios are considered honorary members because of their illustrators.
  • CouncilRyS - the nickname for the unofficial "generation" consisting of Council and Honorary True Companion IRyS, at least before Council and Project: HOPE were properly merged into Promise in October 2023.
  • No bottom teeth gang - What the fans call the members whose Live 2D models do not have bottom teeth. Gura is the most prominent member and she was then joined by Sana, Kronii, Fauna and Altare. Matsuri used to be one of them but her model got updated in September 2021 with bottom teeth.
  • HoloNPCs - A trend started by Moona, a number of the members have been called NPCs owing to them developing an addiction to Minecraft and being often seen playing the game without streaming. These include Sora, Moona, Flare, Polka and Kronii. AkiRose is this for ARK and AZKi is this for Rust.
  • HoloWalls - Refers to the members suffering from A-Cup Angst: A-chan, Suisei, Shion, Rushia, Kanata, Ina, Gura, Ollie, and La+. Matsuri is sometimes counted among them but Fubuki asserts that she has some assets, however small.
  • HoloCanids - Refers to the members who sport features from that particular animal family. These are Fubuki, Mio, Korone, Polka and Koyori.
  • PonX - All five members of holoX immediately proved to be clumsy in one way or another, leading to the whole generation being labeled as ponkotsu.
  • TowaX - After every member of Generation 6 were defeated by Towa in Clubhouse 51 and were thus made subordinate to her, the whole generation is sometimes called by this name.
  • Hoshi Clan - Refers to Moona and Suisei, whose names incorporate the word "Hoshi". They also happen to be very good singers with fondness of axes.
  • Death Star - the duo of Calliope and Suisei, playing off their respective motifs and a nod to how well they complement each other musically in several songs they have collaborated on.
  • B-chan - Nodoka Harusaki got this nickname shortly after her teaser when A-chan revealed that she was going to be her office kouhai. Lamy also started calling Nodoka "B-chan" after they first met in real life.
  • Tempus DLC / Templus - Refers to the 4 additional members of Holostars Tempus (Bettel, Flayon, Hakka, and Shinri) though they're officially called Tempus Vanguard.
  • The collab group Calli/Kronii/Magni/Vesper has three fan-given abbreviations: WARS (Warden, Alchemist, Reaper, Scholar), FART (Father, Alchemist, Rapper, Time), and SALT (Shinigami, Alchemist, Librarian, Time), all of which also refer to their hilariously chaotic dynamic.
    • With Ame in Kronii's place, this becomes SARD (Scholar, Alchemist, Reaper, Detective).
  • Gori-mane - Axel's manager got this nickname after an incident during one of the Tempus Raft collab where someone entered voice chat and made monkey noises and then, Magni calls this person "Manager-san" and warns them not be to here because they're in the middle of a live stream. Though this person is revealed to be Flayon pre-debut, the nickname sticks to Axel's manager and she goes along with it to the point of wearing gorilla gloves during Axel's hand-cam streams and showing up in a gorilla suit during the Tempus's Holo EXPO 2023 tour.
  • Tempurple - Refers to Magni, Bettel, and Hakka because they share the same purple color scheme.
  • Advent Children - For holoEN 3rd Generation -Advent-.
  • KobAlt - A clever pun used for collabs/interactions between Kobo and Altare that also refers to both talents' primarily blue color.
  • Grindstone - Refers to Kaela and Bijou, from the former's famed addiction to grinding in video games (and a grindstone being a tool used by a blacksmith), and the latter being a gem-themed character. The "grind" part later became applied to both talents as Bijou demonstrated an ability to keep up with Kaela's infamously rigorous gaming ethic, with the two hitting it off extremely well afterwards.

hololive Japan

Original talent/uncategorized

    Sora Tokino
  • Daisenpai (大先輩, "Great Senior") - Being the first ever member of hololive, many hololive members respect and look up to Sora. Some of the most overt indications of this include Haato having a poster of Sora in her "Secret Room" intro, and Kanata absolutely fangirling upon meeting Sora for the first time.
  • Goddess Sora - Related to the Daisenpai entry above, but instead it is The Magnificent version for being the first ever member and being solely responsible for carrying hololive during its beginning. This becomes discredited as Sora doesn't like being called a God/Goddess, as she wants to be treated as an equal.
  • 空妈 - Literally "Sora-mama", used by her Chinese fans in a nod to her mom-like qualities.
  • The 13 Knights - Not for Sora herself, but for the first 13 viewers (outside of staff members and A-chan) who watched her debut stream way back in 2017.
  • Stalker Sora - Whenever Sora plays Minecraft and sees that her fellow idols are also online, she will try to follow them without them noticing, and how they play.
  • Tokino Soda - Whenever she introduces herself, newcomers will often mishear her saying "Soda". Combine this with her frequently using the Soda costume in Fall Guys, and you have one of her most persistent nicknames among her English fans. In March of 2021, Sora would finally open memberships for her channel and one of the stamps you get for joining is her face on the Soda costume.
  • Other persistent mispronounciations of her name include "Tokino Sofa" and "Tokyo Soda".

    Roboco
  • High-Spec Terminator - Fans refer to her as this, especially when she's performing well in games. The different parts of the nickname, "High-Spec" and "Terminator", are dropped depending on the situation.

    Miko Sakura
  • Elite - As fans blur the line between it as a catchphrase and a nickname.
  • Elite Baby - Due to her speech impediment making her sound much younger than she as well as her tendency to act much younger than she is.
  • 赌鬼 (Gambling Demon) - Exclusively used by her Chinese fans for her heavy gambling tendencies, especially with regards to her in-game gacha and gambling shenanigans.
  • Elie Tomiko - Probably due to an error from translating "Elite Miko" from Japanese into English, Miko announced on the official subreddit that she would be debuting her new 3DHome compatible model in a stage show. After the model reveal, fans have taken to calling her Tomiko due to the drastic design upgrade that make her look like an entirely new character.

    Suisei Hoshimachi
  • Psychopath Suisei - Gained a notorious reputation as a psychopath whenever she displays this playing Project Winter with friends. In Japan, that's what Japanese fans call her. In the west, they call her "Suiciopath". This has since extended to her 2nd collaborative Among Us game.
  • Tetris Queen - One of her video game skills is playing Tetris. Against an unskilled/unprepared player in a Tetris vs. games, she can defeat someone in less than 20 seconds.
  • Bushimachi Suisei - What the fans call her whenever she does a no-foreign loan words challenge because she talks like a samurai whenever she's trying to speak strictly Japanese.

    AZKi
  • AZKing - During her first 2021 live stream (which was a karaoke stream), the third song she sang was King by Kanaria, afterwhich some fans combined it with her name and took to calling her that.
  • BZKi - During her episode of holotalk, AZKi revealed that her current path has been dubbed her "beta path". As such, fans replaced the A in her name with B, implying that's she a different talent than before.

    Hitomi Chris
  • REDACTED - Exclusive to western fans. Started by Chronokai, a hololive clipper and translator. Being the first member of Hololive to be fired and the nature of her quick dismissal are still considered controversial topics to bring up in most vtuber communities, specially in Japanese ones, most people refer to her like this instead. Also related to Cover Corp almost scrubbing her out from existence after her firing, although copies of her only stream survive. The nickname is used around Reddit but mostly in 4chan.

1st generation

    Fubuki Shirakami
  • FBK - Simply an abbreviation of Fubuki, without the vowels, but also backronymed to Fox Burger King.
  • Kuro-sama - for Kurokami. A simple portmanteau of "Kurokami" and "-sama", the respectful Japanese honorific.
  • Friend - After a viewer asked her if she can be his wife, Fubuki quickly shot him down with a "Friends! Friends!", and this was extrapolated to the notion of her keeping the relationship with her entire fanbase platonic at best. This was inverted for the day when Fubuki would be performing in the major concert "Beyond the Stage", and she posted on Reddit that she would be their wife for a day.
    • Waifriend - Though being friendzoned didn't stop the fans from continuing to ask her to be their wife, another viewer took a different approach and asked Fubuki if she can be his waifriend, to which she actually answered yes. Many fans have then taken to calling her this, saying that it is one step closer to the true goal of getting to call her "wife".
    • Enemy — a logical way to refer to Kurokami.
  • Meme Queen - Because of her bizarre videos and (later) willingness to embrace the reddit community, Fubuki has been given the title of Meme Queen.
  • Foobs - A shortening of Fubuki that is sometimes used by her English-speaking fans.

    Matsuri Natsuiro
  • Festival - Because when non-Japanese fans uses machine translations for hololive-related tweets and other social media posts, Matsuri is universally translated as "Festival" (since that's what it literally means) rather than recognized as a name.
  • GOD - After an incident where Matsuri accidentally said "I'm God" during an English only stream (she had intended to say "I'm good") both fans and Matsuri herself have made jokes about her being God, and will sometimes call her this as encouragement.

    Aki Rosenthal
  • Akipella - After her unsuspected surge of subscribers, she decided to do karaoke. But she ended up singing without background music by accident which sounded like an acapella. And thus she gained the nickname "Akipella" for this reason.
  • MukiRose - Portmanteau of "Muki" and "AkiRose", where "Muki" comes from "muki muki", a slang term that vaguely means muscular. Originally a name given to Aki's ARK: Survival Evolved avatar, an overly buff older man who's frequently portrayed as a buck naked badass, it has also seen use in Aki's frequent Ring Fit Adventure streams. There, it is usually used to denote moments where Aki accomplishes great fitness deeds, or as a symbol of her physical prowess much like the way it is for her ARK avatar.

    Haato Akai (Haachama)
  • HaatoBasic - Portmanteau of "Haato" and "HowToBasic", given viewers often compare Haato's erratic cooking videos to HowToBasic's own infamously unorthodox tutorial videos. She has since embraced the nickname, referencing it in video titles, a logo for cooking streams, and as lyrics for a rap video.
  • Haatochama - Both a portmanteau to refer to both of her personas, and the nickname for a hypothetical merged version of Haato and Haachama.
  • Strongest idol - Due to a combination of her own ridiculously colored childhood and school years that bordered on being traumatic, as well as her own radical transformations following her channel's demonetization and the spate of controversies in 2020 that culminated in her fully embracing the Haachama persona, Haato is often seen as some kind of memetic Determinator by both the Haatons and general audience. This gave rise to the "strongest idol" nickname that's more often than not rendered in Caps Lock for emphasis.
  • Chammer - An affectionate permutation of "Haachama" that's frequently used by the English-speaking side of her fandom, most commonly on Reddit and Twitter.

2nd generation

    Aqua Minato
  • Onion - As her hair color and hairstyle makes the back of her head resemble a red onion.
  • Baqua - Portmanteau of "Baka" and her name due to her ditzy behavior and personality.
  • Korean Seaweed Woman - What many of her Korean fans call her owing to her oft expressed love of the food.

    Shion Murasaki
  • Garlic - Her bun somewhat resembles a garlic clove as seen from this video. She's also often paired up with Aqua by fans and is called that to go with the theme of the culinary combination of onion and garlic.

    Ayame Nakiri
  • Ojou - Roughly meaning "Young Lady", this nickname has its origin traced back to a "choose what you want to call me" Twitter poll set up by Ayame. As "Ayame-ojou" won, fans have started calling her "Ojou" ever since.
  • Kawayo - An amalgam of "kawaii" and "yo" (余), the old-fashioned pronoun that Ayame uses to refer to herself. Used in place of "kawaii".

    Subaru Oozora
  • Duck - Because of her high-pitched nasal voice when she appears on stream, her fanbase had taken to likening her to a duck. Not helped by how she appears to vocally transform into Donald Duck of all people when she attempted to do an ASMR video, where her voice came out to be crunchy and hoarse, instead of soft and comforting like what the genre was known for.
  • Swan Mode - What the fanbase calls her singing, since unlike her characteristically duck-like speaking voice, her singing voice tends be silky smooth in comparison.
  • Mesubaru - A portmanteau of the Japanese slang mesu and her own name, used to describe Subaru in moments where her tender and girly side shines through. Like Subatani-kun, this aspect of her became wildly popular among both her fanbase and even her fellow talents, and became an especially common request after her casual outfit reveal.

hololive GAMERS

    Mio Ookami
  • Mio-mama - Due to her motherly demeanor and her well-known reputation as the Team Mom.
  • Miso Soup - When Mio was distraught over her growth as a streamer compared to the other members, Okayu gave a Comfort Food analogy comparing her to miso soup: not as flashy as everyone else maybe, but a comforting presence to always return to. Hot Miso Soup occasionally gets used when Mio strays from the motherly image and into a more fanservicey one.

    Korone Inugami
  • DOOG - Gained after her Doom stream. This has been embraced by her as it got featured in the thumbnails for her subsequent Doom streams, even Doom (2016).
  • 面包狗 (literally "Bread dog") - By her Chinese fans due to her stated occupation as a baker.
  • Mr.Koro — machine translation of "Koro-san", the way her colleagues commonly refer to them, that fails to take the honorrific into account.

3rd generation/hololive Fantasy

    Pekora Usada
  • Peko - As fans blur the line between it as a Verbal Tic and a nickname.
  • Crazy Rabbit/Bunny; Chaos Rabbit/Bunny - For her infamous reputation of being a Rascally Rabbit.
  • War criminal - A nickname Pekora earned due to her infamous antics regarding villagers and animals in Minecraft, both of whom she regularly abused and exploited for profit whenever she's not trying to utterly destroy them in a comically over the top fashion.

    Rushia Uruha
  • 绿粽子 - Literally "Green glutinous rice dumpling" in Chinese, and affectionately (and almost exclusively) used by her fans in BiliBili due to her old avatar's hair buns' resemblance to them. While initially surprised when first brought to her attention, Rushia has seemingly embraced it and makes it a point to use her old avatar for BiliBili-exclusive streams.
  • Rushifer-sama - for Rushifer. A simple case of attaching "Rushifer" with "-sama", the respectful Japanese honorific.
  • Cutting Board - Used as a way to poke fun at her A-Cup Angst, to which she will always insist that she is boing-boing.
  • Nekomancer - Refers to her with the cat ears accessory on, which turns her from a normal Necromancer to a Necromancer Cat Girl.

    Marine Houshou
  • Senchou - The Japanese word for "ship captain", used by her fans in both Japanese and English to address her. Marine has since used this title to refer to herself.
  • Boomer/auntie/baba - Marine's tendency to act like a woman much younger than herself results in both fans and other members pointing out that she should act her age, since she inevitably embarrasses herself when the comparatively younger members are able to either outperform her physically or point out how dated her cultural references are.
  • 17 Years Old Season [insert number here] - Related to the above: Rather than admitting she has grown older, Marine instead insists that she is still 17, but has gone on for another "season".

4th generation

    Kanata Amane
  • PPT/PP Tenshi ("PowerPoint Angel") - She was very quickly saddled with this nickname due to the use of MS Powerpoint (whose traditional file extension is .ppt) in her debut stream. Fans have made many variations on it as well, such as "Perfect Ponkotsu Tenshi" (Perfect Idiot Angel) and "Perfect Pitch Tenshi".
  • Gorilla Grip Tenshi/KanaGorilla/Pure Power Tenshi - Despite her apparent small stature, she has a massive grip strength of 50kg. note  At one point, Coco and Kanata were having difficulty with a shower head and could not remove it, so Coco left the house to buy work gloves to improve her grip. While she was out, Kanata texted her "KanaGorilla Win", implying she pulled it out with her bare hands.
  • Kanatach - The norm for the Japanese vtuber community is to have youtube channels named "[name] Ch." (short for channel), but Kanata's other social media usernames are "amanekanatach" (because amanekanata was already taken), leading people to act as if Kanatach is her full name.
  • Kanataso — a misreading of "Kanatan" (a normal Japanese diminutive of her name) with the last syllable being ン instead of ソ. Kanata tends to use it for her in-game screennames, since "Kanatan" is frequently already taken.
  • Spy Gorilla - As she is in the employ of both Aqua and Pekora in Minecraft, fans (especially from overseas) have taken to calling her this.

    Coco Kiryu
  • Chairman (会長, "Kaichou") - Due to her incredible influence among all of the cast and her powerful personality. Many jokes that she's supplanted the actual CEO, Motoaki "YAGOO" Tanigou, for how often and gleefully she breaks YouTube's rules and acts in un-idol fashion, such as her repeated drug abuse jokes on AsaCoCo, swearing, and many, many, many other incidents. It also partially comes from her being a massive Yakuza fangirl note . A good number of the other cast members refer to her as this rather than using her name.
  • Adidas Queen - A running joke confirmed by other members mentioning that her wardrobe consists of very little outside of Adidas tracksuits. She has acknowledged this and the similar design of Adidas clothing present in Botan's design, and referred to the pairing of both of them in fanart as the "Adidas Gang."
  • Shitposting Dragon - A fair amount of Coco's most popular content revolves around reviewing Reddit shitposts and memes, on top of all the shenanigans she pulls off-stream. She even has a collection of short videos involving her 3D model doing random stuff on the green screen called "SHITPOST"!
  • Yakusa/Ya草 - A combination of "yakuza" and the Japanese word for grass Explanation. A light-hearted jab at Coco's lack of actual criminal activity within the context of Hololive streams, as well as her frequent shitposting tendencies. Contrast with Korone who maintains a more wholesome facade but has a deeper knowledge of the Japanese criminal underworld and other macabre topics.
  • C-chan/Friend-C (友人C) - Cropped up due to rumors of Coco being relegated to support and managerial roles in the same vein as A-chan after her graduation. While Coco herself has denied this being the case, the name stuck, and viewers started referring to her as such, particularly during Kanata's streams. Became something of an Ascended Meme after Kanata started referring to her by that name herself.

    Watame Tsunomaki
  • Sheep/Hitsuji - For obvious reasons, usually with a descriptor added to the front such as "cute sheep", "fluffy sheep" etc. Watame herself has used these nicknames many times, the most prominent ones being "Fat Sheep" note , and "Farmer Sheep" note . Coco herself also just calls Watame "hitsuji" when they are together, such as when Watame stayed with Coco & Kanata overnight following a Live 3D collab stream.

A Japanese language version of this also exists, with an example being "なきむシープ", based on the word "Nakimushi" (なきむシ) which means someone who cries a lot, being turned into "Nakimusheep", as Watame is known for occasionally tearing up & crying after receiving praise & encouragement from her fans.
  • Her name is also often combined with another word that shares syllables, resulting in a large array of Punny Name such as Wata-melon, Wa-terminator and Wata-minecraft; her last name is also applicable, having called herself Tuna Maki at one point.
  • Wata-oji - For when her decreasingly-covert Covert Pervert tendencies leak out.
  • WTM - simple abbreviation of her name sans the vowels. Frequently used by her Chinese fans.

    Towa Tokoyami
  • TMT - Initials for "Towa Maji Tenshi" (transliteration: "Towa is really an angel"), commonly used by fans and sometimes even her fellow colleagues to refer to her or her actions in an affectionately ironic fashion, considering her character is supposed to be a devil.
  • Any two words starting with T that aren't her name.

    Luna Himemori
  • Luna-hime [ルーナ姫, "Princess Luna"] (3rd person) / Hime-sama [姫様, "Princess"] (2nd person) - Mainly used by Japanese fans. Called such as she is a canonically a princess of her own kingdom. English speaking fans will often just use "Hime". Her Chinese fans on BiliBili use "璐娜公主" or "公主", which have essentially the same meanings.
  • Baby - Due to her official age in her bio being 0 years old.
  • Nanolish - Refers to her English speaking. Due to her accent her attempts at English speaking can be a bit difficult to understand, even for native English speaking fans.
  • Battle Princess - Owing to her unexpected skill in games like Dark Souls, Monster Hunter: Rise and the like, she is called this by her fans.

5th generation

    Lamy Yukihana
  • Lamy-mama - Her gentle voice and Team Mom dynamic with the rest of the 5th Generation earns her this characterization.
  • Yandere Lamy - Lamy has tried to play the Yandere before, but her Nice Girl tendencies puts her in giggling fits. However, she has mentioned she has actually read her followers' Twitter account, unintentionally scaring her viewers. She was actually baffled on why her viewers would be scared of her.

    Botan Shishiro
  • Adidas/Slav Lion - Her default attire has white stripes running over her black top. Fans have compared this outfit akin to Adidas tracksuits worn by stereotypical Eastern-European gopniks.
  • Lioness Tech Tips - Due to Botan being the most knowledgeable of computer hardware and software in the Japanese branch, on top of computer hardware and peripherals being a regular topic in her chatting streams, western fans have given her the Punny Name based on Linus Sebastian's popular web video series. note
  • Horror Date - Horror game streams between Botan and Lamy are known as "dates" with English-speaking fans. Botan's Team Dad and Troll nature, and how she doesn't get scared of horror games, has her come off as a playful boyfriend who dragged poor Lamy, who is very scared of horror games, into haunted locales just to get a good scare out of her. Their personalities and the positioning of their Vtuber models making it look like Lamy is anxiously holding onto Botan's arm has spawned several horror date fanart as a result.
  • Lamy's husband - It's becoming common to see commenters and video clippers calling her "Lamy's husband". Doesn't help that they act Like an Old Married Couple, and they often have an occasional Ship Tease with each other while fans treat Nene and Polka as their wild/unruly children.

    Polka Omaru
  • POLMAO - As fans blur the line between it as a Running Gag and a nickname.
  • Polkacopter/POLcopter - A portmanteau of her name and "helicopter", after the animation upgrade that allowed her Idiot Hair to spin like a propeller.
  • BatPol - A name given to Polka given her propensity for heroics where her EN kouhai are concerned, which is helped along by the fact that she's actually the richest individual in hololive's Minecraft servers.

6th generation

     La+ Darknesss
  • Yamada - In her debut, she told her fans to respond to her calling them with "Yes, my Dark", which they immediately shortened to YMD and then immediately started making other things that the letters could stand for. Due to the strong chuunibyou vibes she gave off, they were especially quick to latch on to it being a vowels-removed version of the ultra-common surname "Yamada", with no less than four senpais and a genmate following the fans' lead within a few hours. As the rest of her gen debuted, each and every one of them referred to her as Yamada to tease her.
  • Laplus - A different spelling of her first name, with the "+" part being spelled phonetically.

     Chloe Sakamata

    Iroha Kazama
  • Hoshiyomi representative - Due Suisei's insistence on not giving her fans an Audience Surrogate to identify as, the Hoshiyomi collectively dubbed Iroha as their representative instead due to her status as an Ascended Fangirl.

DEV_IS

    Ao Hiodoshi
  • Aho-kun - Because of Ao's comical tendency to break her own pedestal while playing games due to her own clumsiness, and missed shots while flirting with other holomems, both her audience and colleagues have clocked her as a klutzy weirdo instead of the cool persona she debuted as, resulting in this nickname.

    Raden Juufuutei
  • JFT - A shorthand for her last name that was adopted by the chat in favor of its full-length counterpart.

holostars JP

    Arurandeisu
  • Pizza Dad - A combination of his Trademark Favourite Food and status of the sole middle-aged character in the cast of young adults or teenagers.

    Astel Leda
  • Disney Prince(ss) - Due to Astel repeatedly covering Disney songs during karaoke streams and his habit to go to Disneyland twice a month.
  • PBB - Short for pretty baby boy, an Affectionate Nickname fans have given to him due to his Pretty Boy appearance.
  • Afrostel - The initial reveal of the first Holostars live concert has him don a Funny Afro, and the nickname sticks with the fanbase.

    Miyabi Hanasaki
  • MMT - Initials for "Miyabi Maji Tenshi" (transliteration: "Miyabi is really an angel"). Miyabi was aware of this during a morning stream while going through nicknames for his fellow Holostars.
  • Miyabean/Bean - An Affectionate Nickname the fanbase uses to refer to Miyabi, it comes from an informal term of endearment to indicate a cute, smol, precious person.
  • Miyabai - A Portmanteau of his name and the slang "yabai", and is used whenever his Covert Pervert or Comedic Sociopathy side comes out.

    Roberu Yukoku
  • Winning son - On his Mario Kart 8 stream a Western fan asked "Are ya winning, son?" referring to a meme. Despite Roberu's poor English skills he tried to respond with Non Sequitur "YEAAAAAAAAH! • Eroberu - Portmanteau of "erotic/eroi" and his name, used to denote whenever he acts perverted in gameplay by admiring the female characters' assets.

    Kishido Temma
  • Dark Knight Temma - Temma has a reputation similar to Suisei for how ruthlessly he behaves while playing certain video games, particularly games where the objective is to kill other players like Dead by Daylight and Among Us. He plays this up way more than Suisei and has displayed Comedic Sociopathy in other situations too. This contrasts heavily with his bio saying that he's a knight who values chivalry.

    Shien Kageyama

    Oga Aragami
  • Eroga - A Portmanteau of "Erotic" and Oga's own name, spawned from his occasional perverted antics. Some of the best moments include Iofi walking into Oga's Onsen stream the moment he impersonates her questionable death scream in the IDStarAmU collaboration.

Generation 1 -Myth-

    Calliope Mori
  • Tsundereaper - A combination of "tsundere" and "reaper," which caught on after watching her interactions with Kiara and how she exhibits classic Tsundere behavior around her.
  • The Grim Rapper - A combination of The Grim Reaper and "rapper", which came about thanks to her bursting into raps twice in her debut stream.
  • Grim Shady - Another nickname, this time referencing Slim Shady and her Grim Reaper job.
  • Kawaiiope - a portmanteau of "かわいい" and her name, noting her Adorkable Cute Clumsy Girl nature.
  • Boomer Reaper - Mori's deep voice, more composed nature and occasional fumbling of current slang (she had no idea yeet now meant throw, for example) makes her come across as older than the rest of the cast, i.e. a baby boomer.
  • CallioPog - One of Calliope's emotes is a rendition of herself as the PogChamp face, and she has a habit of superimposing the emote over her own face whenever her model freezes or she has to step away for a moment to take care of something.
  • My Chemical Reaper - During her first unarchived karaoke stream, she talked about how much she liked My Chemical Romance growing up. The next day on a follow-up unarchived stream, roughly half the setlist consisted of My Chemical Romance songs. Fans quickly started appropriating MCR to apply to her, with other names being "Mori Calliope, Reaper" and "Mori Calliope Romance."
  • Daddy Calliope/Daddiope - Following her read-along of My Dad's the Queen of All VTubers?!, many fans have taken to calling her 'dad' in one form or another. There is also the fact that she is cast as the Team Dad whenever the EN team get together and has a generally more masculine personality than the other members.
  • Cavi - When preparing homemade chocolates for Kiara, she writes her name in chocolate but due to not being that good at culinary decoration, it ends up looking like she wrote CaVi. Her audience on stream and Twitter immediately started to either calling her Cavi or joking that "Cavi" was a different person.

    Kiara Takanashi
  • Kiara Fried Chicken (KFC) - Due to people calling her a chicken and naturally taking the chance to use her name alongside the fast food chain.
  • Tenchou - The Japanese word for "store manager". She is sometimes addressed as this due to her theming around fast food and running a fictional fast food chain. Occasionally mutates into "10chou."
  • Henchou - A portmanteau of "hen" and "tenchou", which originated from a Superchat string in this stream, right after Kiara made a show of threats against those who would dare to call her a chicken. The community ran with it after it gave Kiara a comical raging fit and is now a common fixture in many of her stream Superchats.
  • Chicken - Seems to be the preferred nickname among the 4chan community along with Chimkin, it's mutated form.
    • Orange Woman - Is a nickname sarcastically used on 4chan (eg, "Orange Woman Bad") when referring to posts made by users that don't like Kiara, that are often incoherent and without any actual context or criticism.
  • 火鸡 - The preferred nickname among Chinese fans. While the characters taken individually translate to "fire chicken," the full word actually translates to "turkey" for an extra layer of poultry theming.
  • Kiwawa - Kick-started by Gura when speaking UwU on a stream with Amelia, but the fanbase ran with it, and it's also been used by the talents a few times after that.

    Ina'nis Ninomae
  • Mama Ina - After Ina, Sana, and Mumei had an impromptu Minecraft collab, many fans took to calling her this due to how she mentored and guided her two kouhai.

    Gura Gawr
  • Shork - A Portmanteau of "shark" and "short", due to her being the smallest of the HoloEN girls. May also mutate into "Shart" as evidenced when Amelia tweeted using Gura's account as punishment after the latter lost in a bowling game.
  • Baby Shark - For the same reason, as well as her childlike attitude.
  • Gargoyle/Gargoyla - After she complained about how some people mispronounced her name as "Gar Gura", the chat had fun misspelling her name in increasingly bizarre ways. Gargoyle/Gargoyla was one of the ones that stuck, helped by it being October.
  • Gawr Goomba - Another name corruption, same as the above, which Gura likes to use herself a lot.
  • Saltwater Shark - In conjunction with debating what kind of shark Gura is supposed to be, many fans note that when she starts to lose her patience she gets absolutely livid ("salty" in Internet speak) and thus made the conclusion that her Tranquil Fury is an indication that she could only really survive in saltwater.
  • G-Pain and Autoshark, for when she sings with autotune.
  • City Pop Shark - Affectionately referred to as such by fans due to her unexpected performance of Tatsuro Yamashita's "Ride on Time" during her debut stream
  • George - During the 2021 Minecraft summer festival hosted by Usada Construction, Miko called Gura "Jaws", to which Gura misheard as "George". Ollie has since followed the trend by calling Gura "George-senpai", but the chat was chastised into calling her "George" before Ollie did.
  • Gyaru Gura - What the fans call Gura whenever she breaks out her Valley Girl accent.

    Amelia Watson
  • Amelia Toxson/Amelia Saltson - In reference to her Competition Freak and Sore Loser tendencies which end with her leaving toxic and/or salty remarks.
  • Amelia Seison - A Portmanteau of "Seiso" (Japanese for "pure") and "Watson", for whenever Amelia isn't displaying Competition Freak or Sore Loser habits and instead acts like a wholesome Nice Girl, such as whenever she interact with her senpais (such as her collabs with Haachama, Roboco, Aqua, and Mel) or her kouhais (such as when Reine called her during her birthday stream).
  • The Ground Pounder/Watson's Shaft - This is what fans call the dirt platform Gura made when she was pranking Amelia in Minecraft by adding huge boobs to her pixel-art statue. After the installations were done, she made said platform waist-high and center so she could review her work and only realized what she did when she fell off it, got back up and took a look from below the shaft. Seen here.
  • Bmelia - A Punny Name used to refer to Ame in her bee outfit.

Project: HOPE

    IRyS
  • YabaiRyS - Due to her questionable actions in her first Mother Simulator stream, fans have likened the situation to IRyS's demon half getting the better of her. note  Her penchant for Accidental Innuendo also lends to this nickname.
  • Tofu - Specifically refers to IRyS' bust, which spawned from the reveal stream of her updated model that has considerably improved Jiggle Physics that the viewers picked up on almost immediately. IRyS tried to play coy and referred to the plate of tofu on her desk instead, which also happened to be placed directly in front of her chest, thus prompting the chat to unanimously settle on that being the new nickname for her boobs.

Her fans adopted the latter nickname in appreciation of her embracing the slap jokes throughout the stream.
  • Faunerd - An Affectionate Nickname that the Saplings came up with after the official revealing of her casual outfit in December 2022 that, among other things, included a huge pair of specs that gave her a stereotypical nerd appearance.

  • Minute Maid - A thematically appropriate name bestowed to Kronii by the Kronies given her self-appointed mission to organize every chest she can get her hands on in Minecraft.
  • Jokeronii - Kronii obtained this nickname after a memorable Minecraft incident where she lost all her items chasing after Fauna in retaliation for a prank, commonly interpreted as a Start of Darkness for her. Parallels with the Batman villain were drawn because the incident caused her to go all-out Laughing Mad and to contemplate starting a war because the server was "too peaceful" in her eyes.
  • Yukkuri Kronii - Refers to Kronii's Flying Face model in VRChat, named after the Touhou Project meme which depicts strange beings resembling the disembodied Super-Deformed head of the characters who just float around and engaging in their own shenanigans.

  • Tungsten Rat - Due to her prominent rat motif, the fandom gave her this nickname as if she's an Expy of VShojo's Ironmouse.
  • Aunt Bae - Her model's rigging was done by the same person who did Calli's. As vtubers tend to refer to their illustrators and riggers as "mama/papa," she proudly claimed that she is Calli's half sister due to this, which would make her an aunt to go along with Calli being referred to as "Dad."
  • Hakos Bagel - Miko accidentally addressed her as "Hakos Bagel" while trying to say "Baelz", and the name stuck after Bae herself reflected on it. She even got a superchat informing her that it's actually a compliment in Korean.

  • Baeruto - In a Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy stream where Fauna joined the voice chat, Fauna, being a Gold Pot masternote  of the game, offers to be a teacher to Bae and Mumei. When Bae says she wants to be the tryhard student, she considers herself to be like Naruto.

    Nerissa Ravencroft
  • Kronii 2 - A nickname originating from Reddit. Due to her similar color schemes, overall height and build, crow-related Animal Motifs, along with the mysterious air she projects in the unit's teaser trailer, Nerissa was jokingly referred to as Kronii's "sequel", in the same vein as the "If X is so good, why isn't there X 2?" meme.
  • NeRIZZa - Fans have commented on how Nerissa can rizz up a good chunk of her fellow vtubers whenever she gets flirty, thus earning her this nickname.
    • Nerizzler - A further play on her name originating from Bijou's "Sticking out your gyatt for Nerizzler!" song, combined with Nerissa's natural charm and tendency to flirt with just about anyone she could in the company.

TEMPUS

    Regis Altare
  • Demon Lord Regis - Despite being The Hero and leader of the Tempus Guild, Regis has been known to do some very unheroic things like randomly attacking NPCs. • MagLord - A combination of Magni with the word "lord", this nickname was given to him thanks to the Memetic Badass status he achieved with fans.
  • Babygirl - Based on a Tumblr meme, fans affectionately called him such because they consider him to be cute. Magni is confused about this though the nickname sticks because he talks about Tumblr during his Subnautica stream which made chat categorize him as a "Tumblr sexyman".

    Axel Syrios
  • Aniki - Axel reveals in one of his chatting streams that he's the eldest child and talks about being responsible and taking care of his siblings. This causes his chat to call him "Aniki".
