Total Shuffled Island is a series of Total Drama fanfics by Fangren.

The ''Total Shuffled Island' series restarts the series from season one, Total Drama Island, and shuffles the competitors around to different introductory seasons to make a whole new story. With new casts come new plots to follow, new friendships to emerge, and new alliances.

Total Shuffled Island introduces twenty-two teenagers to the first season of a hot new reality show. Included among the cast are- Alejandro (the Arch Villain), Amy (the Bad Twin), B (the Strong Silent Genius), Beardo (the Human Soundboard), Beth (the Wannabe), Bridgette (the Surfer Girl), Dakota (the Fame-Monger), Dawn (the Moonchild), DJ (the Brickhouse with Heart), Ezekiel (the Homeschooled Guy), Geoff (the Funniest Guy Around), Jo (the Take-No-Prisoners Jock-ette), Lightning (the Athletic Overachiever), Sam (the Nice-Guy Gamer), Sammy/"Samey" (the Good Twin), Scarlett (the Brainiac), Scott (the Devious Guy), Shawn (the Zombie Conspiracy Nut), Sierra (the Obsessive Uber-Fan), Staci (the Compulsive Liar), Sugar (the Pageant Queen), and Topher (the Junior Chris). With Sierra and Topher locked in a battle to become Chris's favorite fan, Jo making the first alliance in the series, Geoff and Bridgette falling in love, and much more, it turns into a crazy summer towards the finale where only one will win the hundred grand.

Total Shuffled Action takes the fifteen contestants that tied in the Race to the Case to the abandoned film lot, where they have a chance at winning one million dollars. Just when the contestants thought that the first season was crazy, the second season turns out to be even crazier. One contestant gets seriously injured, someone starts stealing, and worst of all, someone cheats. Also included is the Aftermath show, hosted by two contestants that didn't make the cut for the season, and even there, drama is present. Alejandro, Amy, B, Beardo, Beth, Bridgette, Dawn, DJ, Geoff, Jo, Lightning, Sammy, Scarlett, Shawn, Sierra, and Topher compete this season, while Sam and Dakota host the Aftermath.

Total Shuffled World Tour has the fifteen contestants that were randomly selected by Chris competing for one million dollars while competing in challenges that take place all across the globe. Alejandro, Beardo, Bridgette, Dawn, DJ, Ezekiel Geoff, Lightning, Sammy, Scarlett, Scott, Shawn, Sierra, Staci, and Sugar all return, and joining them are the two newbies, Tyler (the Jock) and Ella (the Fairytale Princess). Keeping in with the series' Shuffled theme, some of the locations have also been moved around into a different order. The season also contains shuffled mixes of songs featured in the canon season, and original songs written by the author. Three teams are made, one contestant quits under unusual circumstances, and more love triangles emerge. The Aftermath also reappears, and Blaineley is around to cause trouble.

Total Shuffled Revenge of the Island returns to the island, which has become even more rundown before and has been used as a toxic waste dump. The season also introduces thirteen new campers- Cameron (the Wide-Eyed Bubble Boy), Cody (the Flirty Geek), Courtney (the Control Freak), Gwen (the Loner), Harold (the Dweeb), Izzy (the Wild Child), Jasmine (the Outback Girl), Justin (the Eye Candy), Leonard (the Larper), Lindsay (the Airhead), Noah (the High IQ), Trent (the Musician), and Zoey (the Indie Chick). The campers compete in dangerous challenges while avoiding the island's mutated wildlife. One camper gets involved in a conflict with the mutant shark named Fang, two campers express interest in each other, and three campers look to take the competition by storm. Contestants from the first three seasons also appear in cameos.

Total Shuffled All-Stars takes place a year after the events of Revenge of the Island when Chris is released from prison on parole to host the fifth season. All-Stars features fourteen of the best contestants from the past four seasons - Alejandro, Courtney, Ella, Gwen, Harold, Izzy, Jasmine, Justin, Lightning, Noah, Scarlett, Scott, Shawn, and Sugar. The contestants compete in challenges either reminiscent or a mix of past challenges to not only win immunity, but to also win a night of relaxation in the new spa hotel while the losing team sleeps in one of the old cabins. There's a catch to winning though, one member of the winning team must serve exile on Boney Island, where an immunity idol is hidden. Older competitors and newer competitors collide, new friendships and rivalries form, and there are unexpected twists never seen before.

Total Shuffled Pahkitew Island goes to the uncharted and wild Pahkitew Island, with fourteen new competitors- Anne Maria (the Jersey Girl), Brick (the Cadet), Dave (the "Nice" Guy), Duncan (the Delinquent), Eva (the Iron Woman), Heather (the Queen Bee), Leshawna (the Sista with 'Tude), Katie (the Skinny BFFFL), Max (the Super Villain), Mike (the Introspective), Owen (the Positive Guy), Rodney (the Country Boy), Sadie (the Fat BFFFL), and Sky (the Athlete). The challenges are just as dangerous, but now, they are completely on their own, having to make their own shelter and find their own food.

• Abhorrent Admirer: Sugar is this to Justin.
• Aborted Arc: Scott's attempt to blackmail Courtney in "Saving Private Leachball" over her refusing to take a point-blank shot at Gwen during the challenge is halted before it can even begin, as Chris ends up moving Courtney over to the Heroic Hamsters at the end of the episode.
• Action Girl: Jo is the main example (even using "Action Girl" as her superhero name), but most of the girls get their moments.
• Adaptational Alternate Ending: Canon All-Stars had a heavily Bittersweet Ending, with only the two finalists getting anything close to a happy ending, with several of the remaining competitors being sent hurtling into the sun with fart balloons or trapped on the sinking island and never appearing on the show again. Shuffled changes the events significantly, with everyone getting saved from the sinking island via Gunship Rescue from everyone who didn't compete on the season and ending on a full cast party aboard said gunship.
• Adaptational Early Appearance: Many of the Revenge of the Island and Pahtitew Island characters, as well as both World Tour newcomers, now appear earlier than they did in canon due to the cast shuffling: Alejandro, Sierra, B, Dakota, Dawn, Jo, Lightning, Sam, Scott, Staci, Amy, Beardo, Sammy, Scarlett, Shawn, Sugar and Topher now debut in Island, Ella debuts in World Tour, and Jasmine and Leonard debut in ROTI.
• Adaptational Jerkass: Dave is an interesting example in that many of his actions have been translated over to the shuffled version of Pahkitew Island just as they were in canon, but several of his kinder moments like saving Ella from drowning and motivating Shawn to do a challenge have been outright removed with no equivalent given, and due to the more gimmicky characters of his team being moved to different seasons, Dave's anger at his team comes off as much more unjustified. And while he may have been a Jerkass to his teammates, he was nowhere near as nasty as he is to Mike here.
• Adaptational Late Appearance: Most of the original Island cast and some of the Revenge of the Island characters now make their debuts in a later season than in canon: Tyler debuts in WT instead of returning from Island, Cody, Courtney, Gwen, Harold, Izzy, Justin, Lindsay, Noah and Trent now debut in ROTI, and Anne Maria, Brick, Duncan, Eva, Heather, Leshawna, Katie, Mike, Owen and Sadie now debut in Pahkitew Island.
• Adaptational Nice Guy:
  • Duncan is much kinder in Pahkitew Island than he ever was in canon, as his Hidden Heart of Gold shines through much more often. This is due to his frequent bullying targets (Harold and Cody) and the other members of the infamous Love Triangle (Gwen and Courtney) participating in a different season, meaning there isn't as much opportunity for him to be a bullying jerkass as there was in canon.
  • Thanks to Character Development, Jo also acts much kinder in Action than she was in canon, in an attempt to lose her negative reputation from Island, while in canon she simply doubled down on her jerkass attitude in her second appearance.
  • This also applied to Lightning in All-Stars, who unlike his canon counterpart, receives substantial Character Development. He acts supportive and nice in order to prove his role to the Heroic Hamsters. Good karma hits him and he wins the season.
• Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
  • As a result of going behind Gwen's back to get her eliminated in ROTI, it's Courtney trying to earn Gwen's forgiveness during All-Stars rather than the other way around as in canon. And unlike in canon where Gwen eventually got fed up with Courtney's attitude and gave up trying to apologize, leaving them on even worse terms, here Courtney manages to succeed in making things right between her and Gwen.
  • In canon Revenge of the Island, Scott was Fang's favorite victim. In Shuffled All-Stars, the two end up forming an alliance due to their mutual disdain for Izzy.
• Adaptational Sexuality:
  • Rather than being Ambiguously Gay as in canon, Topher actually is gay in this fic.
  • Eva is revealed to be a lesbian here while in canon, she was attracted to Justin.
  • In the show, Duncan and Sky were both in heterosexual relationships; here, they both realize and come out as bisexual.
  • The show implies Owen is Ambiguously Bi due to his relationship with Izzy and falling for Justin's charms. In Shuffled PI, he admits he's pansexual.
• Adaptational Wimp: Dave is a interesting case. True, he was a bit of a Non-Action Snarker in canon, but he was still capable of competing, especially earlier in the season. He took out both Rodney and Topher in the balloon challenge, and actually knocked Jasmine off the platform in the dueling stick challenge. Here, he's completely useless from the start.
• All Women Are Lustful: Sammy and Dawn make no effort to look away when DJ loses his trunks in "Beach Blanket Bogus". Double as a Not So Above It All moment for the latter.
  • Same goes for Scarlett, who practically drools over a shirtless Justin in "Heroes vs. Villains".
• Alpha Bitch: Amy. She thinks she's better than everyone else, and then treats them, especially her sister, rather horribly.
• Alternate Universe: The series is what the canon series could've been like if everyone's debut season was switched around.
• Arch-Enemy: Sierra and Topher are this to each other; same with Amy and Sammy, and Scarlett and Jo.
• Ascended Extra: Tyler and Ella act as this when they become the World Tour newbies.
  • Tyler plays a part in the Total Drama Xtreme setup, the Shuffledverse equivalent of Total Drama Dirtbags, and Chris repays him for it by giving him a spot in the competition.
  • Ella, on the other hand, winds up on DJ's bus during the bus chase in the "Celebrity Manhunt" special on accident, and Chris gives her a spot despite not knowing who the heck she is.
• Ascended Fan: The first generation contestant roster includes Chris McLean fanboy Topher and Chris McLean fangirl Sierra, who are natural rivals.
• The Atoner: Jo realizes that if she wants to get on people's good side after Island, she has to become a team player.
• Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: The monster in "Monster Cash", "Scarlett Fever", and "Mutiny on the Soundstage".
• Back for the Dead: Staci returns to the competition halfway through World Tour, only to get voted off at the next elimination.
• Badass Adorable: Dawn. She's a cute, little mystic who fights for who and what she believes in.
• Badass Biker: Trent in Revenge of the Island. Unlike canon, Trent gets to show off his motorcycle skills when he uses a motorcycle as part of his helicopter.
• Bad "Bad Acting": Chris mangles a Russian accent once so badly that it gets mistaken for Jamaican, French, German, and even Arabic.
• The Bad Guy Wins: Although not as villainous as the previous seasons' villains, Noah canonically wins Revenge of the Island.
• Batman Gambit:
  • Alejandro appears as if he is going to vote with everyone else, but instead aligns with Jo and the returnees to vote out Dawn in Island.
  • Noah's strategy employs this. Outside of challenges, he writes notes and anonymously leaves them to play mind games with the other campers.
  • Scott's strategy in All-Stars is this. Because everyone knows how untrustworthy he is by now, and will believe everything he says is a lie, he manipulates them by telling the truth, and letting them think he is lying so they will do the opposite of what he advises them.
• Because You Were Nice to Me: Revealed to be the case in the second Aftermath section of World Tour. Scott admits (under penalty of being dunked into an angry octopus's tank upon lying) that he would've taken Ezekiel all the way to the final 2, solely because Ezekiel stuck by him from the beginning.
  Scott: spoiler:"I don't really believe in friendship like the rest of you, but I still figured I could at least pay him back a little for trying to be there for me or whatever."
• Belligerent Sexual Tension: Sierra and Topher. They hate each other, but some of the other campers - as well as some of the in-universe fans - think they like each other.
• Berserk Button:
  • Amy gets furious at the idea of Sammy beating her at something.
  • Sammy eventually goes berserk whenever Amy (or Chris) calls her "Samey".
• Best Served Cold: When Jasmine accidentally gets Chris flung into one of the washroom toilets, the vain and narcissistic Chris makes no immediate reprisal, despite having the means to do so; but after Jasmine is later eliminated for unrelated reasons, Chris has her stuffed into a garbage bag in a one-off addition to the elimination ceremony, to remind the hapless Jasmine of what she did.
• Beta Couple: Geoff/Bridgette and Sam/Dakota to DJ/Dawn/Sammy.
• Better as Friends: Two examples occur in All-Stars:
  • Ella reveals in "Heroes vs. Villains" that while she did date Tyler after season three, they realized they work better as this and became Amicable Exes.
  • After he volunteers to be flushed in "Saving Private Leechball" in place of Jasmine, Harold accepts they can only be friends.
• Be Yourself: A villainous example with Scarlett, who resents her family trying to teach her morality due to them wanting her to be good, feeling like they're trying to limit her.
• Beware the Nice Ones:
  • Dawn and Sammy, two of the nicest contestants, have their moments. Dawn gets very cross with Amy over her treatment of Sammy over the course of Island and Action. After Sammy spends some time away from Amy, she grows a backbone and becomes fiercely protective of her friends whenever Amy insults them.
  • Ella is usually a nice, friendly girl, but her singing ability and friendship with animals is dangerous when she's under the influence of the Blue Harvest Moon.
• Big Bad: Each season has a main antagonist.
  • Alejandro for Island.
  • Scarlett for Action.
  • Sugar for World Tour.
  • Noah for Revenge of the Island.
  • Scott for All-Stars.
  • Heather and Mal for Pahkitew Island.
• Big Bad Ensemble:
  • The first season features Alejandro, Scarlett, Jo, Amy, Sugar, and Scott, though only the former three have much lasting effect or make it to Action (though Amy comes in later), while Jo loses much of her antagonism in Action before being swapped out with Scott and Sugar for World Tour.
  • The fourth season features Courtney, Justin, and Noah with varying degrees of badness. Justin is self-centered, and uses his good looks and charms to sway the vote in his favor. Courtney, whose bossy and controlling attitude, plus her immense desire to win, antagonizes the other campers. Noah, who, while not outright a villain, is still ambitious enough to manipulate the others with mind tricks in order to keep himself in the game.
• Big Bad Wannabe: Amy believes herself to be the major threat in Action, when the reality is that Scarlett easily manipulates her into following her own strategies.
• Big Damn Heroes:
  • Jo comes to the rescue of the others when Scarlett takes control of the monster from the monster movie challenge to try and take the prize money by force.
  • All of the ex-campers that weren't part of the All-Stars season were this, saving the finalists, their helpers, and those trapped in the balloons when the island sank with a Gunship Rescue.
• Big Eater: Sugar. She'll eat just about anything, including a severed alien leg.
• Big "NO!": Chris has one when mementos of his past performances are burned right in front of his eyes.
• Brains Evil, Brawn Good: Scarlett, The Sociopath Evil Genius opposes Jo, the Action Girl Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
• Break the Cutie: Ella goes through a downward spiral after Alejandro betrays her in "Sweden Sour", and it only gets worse when she finds out Sugar hates her.
• Brutal Honesty: Scott's strategy for season five. He uses the others' lack of trust in him to tell them hard, cold truths they need to hear, and they dismiss them as lies.
• The Cameo:
  • The whole first generation (except Blaineley) appears in "Bigger! Badder! Brutal-er!" Tyler also gets an extended one by himself where he asks Chris about why they've been replaced.
  • Shawn in "Finders Creepers", when he is hired by Chris to find and catch the mutant spider running around.
  • Geoff and Bridgette in "Backstabbers Ahoy!", they demonstrate the challenge by blowing up one of the water mines.
  • Dakota in "Runaway Model", where she is a judge for the fashion challenge, and is abducted by Sasquatchinakwa.
  • Staci in "A Mine is a Terrible Thing to Waste", where she is revealed to have been bunking in the mine with Izzy.
  • Sierra and Topher in "The Treasure Island of Dr. McLean", they are buried in treasure chests for the teams to dig up.
  • Scarlett in "Grand Chef Auto", where she blows up Mount Chrismore.
  • Alejandro in "Up, Up, and Away in my Pitiful Balloon", where he steals the million dollars and Chris's zeppelin. The final five are then tasked with stopping him.
  • DJ in "Eat, Puke, and Be Wary", where he is brought against his will to judge the final four's cooking dishes.
  • There are multiple cameo appearances at the end of most of the All-Stars chapters, where two characters would go and retrieve the flushed contestant of the day from wherever in the world they ended up. So far, these include:
    • Leonard and Sierra for Sugar.
    • Zoey and Lindsay for Harold.
    • Tyler and Ezekiel for Ella.
    • Topher and Dawn for Alejandro.
    • Sam and Dakota for Noah.
    • Amy and Cody for Justin.
    • Beth and Beardo for Izzy, as well as Blaineley, Staci and Scarlett..
    • Trent and Sammy for Gwen.
    • Bridgette and Geoff for Shawn.
    • Jo, DJ, Cameron, and B for Courtney and Scott.
  • Before her end-of-chapter appearance, Jo takes the place of the cameo opponent in "Suckers Punched", where she's called upon to fight Lightning as his "fear".
  • Blaineley also appears in the 100th episode, "The Phantom of the Island", although she has a much bigger role than a simple cameo appearance.
• Cat Fight: Amy and Sammy engage in one when they both finally had enough of each other. This ends with them in casts.
• Cliffhanger: "Not So Happy Campers- Part 1" in Island. "Scarlett Fever" in Action. "Walk Like an Egyptian- Part 1" in World Tour.
• Chekhov's Gun: Chef's motorcycle makes an appearance in "That's Off the Chain", and returns in the "Total Drama Drama Drama Drama Island" special, where Lightning uses it to return to camp quickly.
• Chekhov's Skill: Tyler's absurdly strong finger strength. It helps him save his team in the Yukon, and is later used by Tyler to grab onto Alejandro's boat while still in Ella's on the way to Hawaii.
• Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Izzy and Leonard. Played straight with Izzy, but it's deliberately invoked by Leonard.
• Crocodile Tears: Sugar sheds these in order to gain sympathy as part of her Wounded Gazelle Gambit strategy in World Tour. Sierra even refers to them as such.
  Sierra: "I can see right through your crocodile tears and playing dumb."
  Sugar: "Don't you dare call me a crocodile, I got way better skin than that!"
• Cross Counter: The boxing match between Lightning and Jo in "Sucker Punched" ends with one between them, with Lightning ultimately managing to stay on his feet and win the round while Jo falls flat on her back.
• Curse: Played with. Scott tries to invoke it in "Up the Creek", but fails miserably. Later on when he's with Ezekiel in Egypt, he claims he was cursed.
• Cute Is Evil: Jo thinks Shih Tzu dogs are evil.
• Daddy's Girl: Dakota is very close to her father, and his connections help her navigate her time on the show.
  • Dawn is also shown in this light, as her father is very affectionate towards her and is more than willing to give her advice.
• Deadpan Snarker: Noah. It's mostly to Leonard, but he has his moments making jabs at everyone else.
• Death by Irony: More like elimination by irony.
  • Sugar gets eliminated in this manner early on in Island during the talent show challenge, somewhat mirroring her canon elimination in season six.
  • Lindsay gets eliminated this way in Revenge of the Island, during the fashion challenge despite it being her strong suit.
  • In All-Stars, Noah gets annoyed at being ignored by his team even when it helps him stay under the radar, but when the other team gets a chance to vote off one of Noah's team members, it ends up being him because they view him as a threat.
• Demoted to Extra:
  • After making it to fourth place in Island and "canonically" winning in Action, Jo doesn't compete at all in World Tour or All-Stars.
  • The final three in Island, Shawn, Bridgette, and Alejandro, are all eliminated very early on in Action.
  • Cameron and Zoey, both high ranking players in canon seasons four and five, are eliminated earlier in this version of ROTI and don't even return for All-Stars.
  • After making it all the way to the final two in Revenge of the Island, Harold gets eliminated early on in All-Stars, but he left so soon on his own terms.
  • Likewise, Ella, Sugar and Tyler make it far in season three, the former canonically winning and the latter two coming in second and fourth. However, both girls are eliminated quite early in All-Stars while Tyler doesn't even return to compete.
  • While in canon Pahkitew Island, both Max and Dave made it to the merge, neither character makes it as far in Shuffled Pahkitew, with Max in particular going from 5th to being the first camper eliminated.
• Description Cut: Lightning doubts in the confessional that Chris could get a sack of flour's phone number, and there's a cut to Chris having a dinner date with it.
• Designated Hero: An In-Universe example with Lightning, who's put on the Heroic Hamsters in All-Stars despite being a Jerk Jock for most of his run. This is Justified as Chris originally wanted to put a jock on the team, but was forced to make do with Lightning since both Tyler and Jo were unable to compete. Over the course of the season, Lightning outgrows this status and eventually evolves into an Anti-Hero.
• Determinator: After her friends are voted off in Action, Beth becomes determined to show that the team needs her.
• Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Scott gets so pissed off that Sugar revealed their alliance, and tried to pin the whole thing on him that when Chris tries to interrupt their confrontation, Scott tells him off.
• Digging Yourself Deeper: Ezekiel with his sexist comments. Geoff tries to soften the blow, but Ezekiel makes it worse.
• Disc-One Final Boss:
  • Scott is the main antagonist for the first quarter of Island. This happens to him AGAIN in World Tour after he is sold out by Sugar and disqualified for not singing, allowing Sugar to emerge as the true main villain.
  • Justin is this for the first quarter of Revenge of the Island. He is this for the first half of All-Stars, and loses when Izzy steals the immunity idol from him moments before the ceremony that seals his fate, allowing Scott to take the spotlight.
• Disproportionate Retribution: Scarlett apparently has a habit of doing this as explained by her family's message from home. She once came in second during a science fair, and unleashed her invention on the school auditorium.
• Ditzy Genius: Ezekiel finally gets to show off this side of himself in World Tour. He might not be smart socially, but he knows plenty about world cultures and languages.
• Door Stopper: The shortest finished season clocks in at about 190,000 words including author's notes, and a couple top 300K. The total series is expected to approach 1.5 million words upon completion.
• Dreaming of Things to Come: Dawn gets visions overnight during "The Am-AH-Zon Race", and temporarily leaves the game to act on those visions.
• Dude, Where's My Reward?: Amy believes she should be entitled to special treatment upon her entry into Action, but since she never actually won the lawsuit, she doesn't get any.
• Earn Your Happy Ending:
  • Noah, the youngest of nine siblings, has been tight on money his whole life. He wins Revenge of the Island.
  • After three seasons and four eliminations, Lightning finally wins the million dollars in All-Stars.
• Epic Fail: Amy attempting to win over DJ in Island. Not only does he not believe her in the least, she even ends up falling into the lake when trying to kiss him.
• Exact Eavesdropping: Alejandro does this in Island so he can figure out who is next on his elimination agenda. Scarlett does this frequently in Action, some of which is near the confessional, which is supposed to be private. In World Tour, Chris takes precautions so Scarlett, or anyone else for that matter, cannot eavesdrop near the Confessional.
• Executive Meddling: An in-universe example has Chef being punished by the producers for making illegal alliances, which is why he has to leave Action for a few episodes.
• Expository Hairstyle Change: Scarlett's hair changes form whenever her character shifts. When she is angry, strands of her bun come undone, and when she is outright furious, her hair comes out of its bun completely. From World Tour onward, Scarlett has her hair in a ponytail, signifying she's restraining her true nature, but she's also free to act like her true self now that everybody knows how she really is.
• Expy: Dawn's father, Cryptologia Sweetlily, is based on Luna Lovegood's father, but with a more hippie-like appearance.
• Failed Attempt at Drama: Topher tries to stir up drama by making it seem like DJ's bunny went missing, and 'reunites' DJ with his pet, only to accidentally lose the critter immediately afterwards.
• Feminine Women Can Cook: Scarlett apparently knows how to bake brownies.
• Foil: Scarlett and Jo, being arch-enemies, are this to each other (see Brains Evil, Brawn Good above). Aside from Scarlett being an Evil Genius and Jo being a Lightning Bruiser, Scarlett is also a manipulator who can pretend to be a team player but in reality she only cares about herself and has no problems sacrificing others at her convenience; Jo, on the other hand, despite starting out as a Jerk Jock, eventually has some Character Development and learns to genuinely care about others and to value teamwork.
• Foreshadowing:
  • Dawn's aura reading in "Not Quite Famous" foreshadows Jo's eventual Character Development in Action.

  • Beth's wish for there to be a model on the show in Total Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Island does come true later on as Justin debuts in Revenge of the Island.
  • When Chef arrives to bail Chris out of prison at the start of All-Stars, the two insects whose race the host is calling are apparently supposed to be Lightning and Jasmine. Guess who the two finalists of the season end up being?
• Friendly Rivalry : Sammy and Dawn. See Love Triangle.
• The Friend Nobody Likes: Blaineley is this for the cast by proximity because of her contract with the show.
• Friend to All Living Things: Dawn and Ella. Dawn helps a skunk get its baby out of a washroom toilet, and Ella befriends the condor clutch in "Rapa-Phooey!"
• Gadgeteer Genius:
  • B is the master of this trope, able to make useful tools out of just about anything he can find.
  • Scarlett manages to create a taser out of a toaster at one point.
  • Harold manages to make a grappling hook gun out of junk in "Ice Ice Baby".
• Gambit Pile Up: There is one of these in Action. Chef makes an illegal alliance with DJ, which is noticed by Alejandro. Alejandro forces Chef to make an illegal alliance with him, and then their alliance is found out by Scarlett, who has Chef make an illegal alliance with her. DJ ends the alliance between him and Chef, revealing Chef planned to backstab Alejandro, who then ends his upon finding out about the betrayal. Scarlett's alliance with Chef is not found out about until the end of the season.
• Genre Savvy: The second generation is this because they have watched the first three seasons before signing up for the show, and are wiser than they would be in their canon first season because of it.
• Glowing Eyes of Doom: Scarlett gets these whenever her patience is tested.
• Gold Digger: Amy becomes this by trying to convince Lightning to split the million with her in Action. Turns out the reason why she attempts this is because she is contractually unable to win as part of her contract for being added late into the season.
• Grand Finale: Total Shuffled Pahkitew Island is the final installment of the series, since the 2023 reboot hadn't been produced at the time of its publishing.
• Gunship Rescue: Jo and the other ex-campers that don't compete in All-Stars ride in on Jo's blimp, and save the finalists, their helpers, and the ex-campers trapped in the balloons when the island begins to sink.
• Handicapped Badass: Courtney spends her time as Lightning's helper in the All-Stars finale with her arm in a cast as a result of spraining it during her fight with Scott in the previous episode, but is still able to hold her own against- and defeat- both Sugar and Alejandro.
• Heroic Sacrifice:
  • Geoff does this for Bridgette once so she can get past Sasquatchinakwa.
  • Harold volunteers to be flushed in All-Stars in place of Jasmine, in order to make up for her elimination in Revenge of the Island.
• Hidden Depths:
  • "Revenge of the Telethon" has Staci coming from a really large family that work very mediocre jobs, which explains why she constantly lies about her family's achievements.
  • Leonard's Cloud Cuckoolander behaviour is all an act; he believes himself to be only good at LARPing, so he's decided he's gonna pretend he thinks he's a wizard so he can at least be a memorable early elimination.
• Huge Guy, Tiny Girl:
  • DJ, and his two tiny girls: Dawn and Sammy.
  • Beardo and Beth, non-romantic example.
  • Lightning and Amy.
  • B and Dawn, non-romantic example.
• Human Shield: Justin uses Alejandro as one in "Saving Private Leechball".
• Hypocrite: Courtney acts as one early on in Revenge of the Island, expecting her team to give every challenge their all when she doesn't do that. Gwen calls her out on it, and she starts to live up to her own demands while also toning down her controlling behavior.
  • Courtney votes Zoey off when she believes that Zoey is one of these, but it's all part of Noah's strategy to stay away from elimination and keep suspicion away from him. Even after finding out Zoey isn't one, she still keeps her vote as is.
  • Eva briefly believes herself to be one after she gets on Sky's case for liking a boy (Dave) and getting distracted from the competition when it turns out that she likes Sky and wants a chance with her herself.
• I Lied: Scarlett's friendship with Bridgette throughout Island and Action turns out to be one big lie.
• In Spite of a Nail: Despite the different casts, some things haven't changed.
  • Several characters still compete in the same seasons and teams as in the canon show. These include:
    • Island: Beth, Bridgette, DJ, Ezekiel and Geoff still debut in this season with everyone but DJ being on the same teams.
    • Action: Beth, Bridgette, DJ and Geoff still compete with Bridgette and Geoff still being the first two contestants eliminated, albeit for different reasons.
    • World Tour: Alejandro, Bridgette, DJ, Ezekiel, Sierra and Tyler still compete in this season.
    • Revenge of the Island: Cameron and Zoey still debut here with the latter still ending up on the Mutant Maggots.
    • All-Stars: Alejandro, Courtney, Gwen, Lightning and Scott all still compete here.
    • Pahkitew Island: Dave, Max, Rodney and Sky still debut here and are placed on the same teams. Sky later ends up switching teams.
  • Canon couples Bridgette/Geoff, Dakota/Sam, Gwen/Trent, Jasmine/Shawn, and Lindsay/Tyler all still hook up here.
  • Shawn, Lightning and Duncan all still become finalists at one point.
  • Alejandro, Scarlett, Sugar, Scott and Heather are all still Big Bads at one point.
  • Staci still ends up being the first boot in her debut season.
  • Scarlett still ends up going berserk and attempts to kill everyone to get the money, which leads to her elimination.
  • Topher eventually does attempt to usurp Chris as the show's host.
  • Sierra still eventually comes to hate Chris just like everybody else.
  • Izzy is still chased off by the RCMP at one point.
  • Cameron doesn't need his bubble anymore by the end of season 4.
  • Between Courtney and Gwen, there's still a betrayal between them that results in one of them spending a large portion of season 5 getting the other to forgive her.
  • Owen, despite debuting much later in the series, still gets to call a major antagonist, (in this case Mal) "Al."
• I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: As Harold's eliminated in All-Stars, he tells Jasmine he hopes she can find the happiness he cannot give her.
• I Work Alone: Shawn spends most of his game without allies. He does this based off his zombie apocalypse mentality, theorizing that if he works with others, then he won't survive the apocalypse when it comes.
• I'm Not Here to Make Friends:
  • Subverted with Dakota, she starts out only joining Total Drama to become famous, and actually ends up making friends.
  • Straight with Shawn, who has an I Work Alone mentality, and Jo, who's just there to win.
• In-Series Nickname: Sierra frequently refers to Topher as "fake fan" during their conflict over who is a bigger fan of Chris.
• It's All About Me: Dave's general attitude towards Sky and their "relationship". He claims that Sky getting distracted by Heather calling Dave a crappy boyfriend and subsequently getting knocked into the lake while trying to defend him is a good reason for their team's loss.
• Jerkass: Amy is one to her sister and pretty much everyone else except for Lightning, whom she dates at one point. But even Lightning eventually gets fed up with her behaviour.
• Kick the Dog:
  • Staci suffers a lot of this from Chris in a similar manner to canon Ezekiel.
  • Sadie believes this happens to her during the "Truth or Scare" challenge as well.
• The Load: Dave is this to Team Maskwak in Pahkitew Island. He rarely pulls through on his part of the challenges, distracts Sky enough for her to be taken out more than once and, considering his general lack of skills or abilities and his many "allergies", he's just one big liability to everyone on his team.
• Loophole Abuse: It's an unspoken rule of common courtesy to not eavesdrop on other contestants' confessionals, and Scarlett takes advantage of that enough times that Chris has to instate a rule and measures to prevent this and discourage future eavesdropping.
• Love Triangle: Sammy, DJ and Dawn. He eventually chooses Sammy in Action but it's implied that he and Dawn still have feelings for each other. In World Tour, all three decide to date together.
  • Alejandro, Ella, and Tyler in World Tour. Ella chooses Tyler once she learns that Alejandro never truly loved her, and was only stringing her along.
• Manipulative Bastard: Alejandro and Justin.
  • Alejandro's first season strategy involves manipulating everyone into thinking he's a Nice Guy, and later does the same to Ella in the third season.
  • Justin tries a similar strategy, using his reputation as a model to convince the girls on his team to side with him in voting.
• Manly Tears: Noah sheds these after winning Revenge of the Island, because for once in his life, things actually go his way.
• Misery Builds Character: Dakota spends a lot of the first season as an intern, and when she's not doing intern work, she makes friends with some of the remaining contestants. She insists in season two that this helps the others when they are interviewed on the Aftermath.
• Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Jo's harsh treatment to Beth and Beardo make them turn against her and their alliance.
• Mood Whiplash: While the series is mostly lighthearted and comedic, as it is in canon, the story takes a very dark turn in Scarlett Fever, with Scarlett causing mayhem, threatening to flat out kill Chef, and taking Dakota hostage with no signs of her being stopped.
  • This happens again in Pahkitew Island, when Mike's fifth and most evil personality, Mal, appears. He knocks out Leshawna, and attempts to kill the remaining contestants in much the same manner as canon Scarlett.
• The Mole: Sammy returns as one after getting eliminated in "Action", in order to find out who had been manipulating the voting devices.
• Multiple Endings: Pahkitew Island has three different endings. Two of the endings simply vary on whether Eva or Duncan wins, with both reconciling with their respective loves (Sky for Eva and Brick for Duncan) regardless, while the third ending has all the contestants rise up against Chris and shoot him out of the cannon, with Duncan and Eva electing to share the money between them. The author considers Eva's ending to be the "canon" ending, but notes that, due to Total Shuffled Pahkitew Island being the Grand Finale for the series as a whole, any of the three endings can be considered canon.
• Mythology Gag:
  • Several contestants' skills from the canon series make use of their skills in ways they haven't before.
    • Shawn uses his experience from working in a bakery to help his team in "Can You Take the Heat?"
    • DJ ends up in the kitchen in Action like in canon, but under different circumstances.
    • Topher's theft of Chris's phone in his canon introductory season is transformed into a skill for pickpocketing.
    • Duncan's bumping into Chris and stealing his wallet is a nod to how Topher bumped into Chris and stole his phone. The only difference is that Duncan doesn't keep what he stole.
  • Jo's closest friend in "One Flu Over The Cuckoos" is named "Mary", which was her original name back during Total Drama Reloaded and was reused for a contestant in Ridonculous Race.
  • When Ezekiel is eliminated in World Tour, he mostly regrets not trying to stow away on the plane as he did in canon, and as Staci did in this story..
  • Owen partially quotes one of his lines from World Tour's "Before We Die" during the first episode of Pahkitew Island.
    Sure could use some pizza though. No wait, chips and some dip!
  • Katie and Sadie reminisce about when they went camping two years before the show, where they wiped themselves with poison ivy and soaked themselves in water - just as they did in the second episode in canon.
• Naked People Are Funny:
  • In "I Triple Dog Dare You!", Shawn receives a dare to run around the island in his birthday suit: he goes through with it.
  • In "Phantom of the Island", Scott tries to flirt with Courtney while sitting in the spa hotel hot tub, but he jumps out when Izzy messes with the controls, and Courtney is repulsed to find out that he was in there naked the whole time.
• New Rules as the Plot Demands: An in-universe example, late into the Dodgeball challenge, Chris implements a five-second rule regarding holding dodgeballs so the challenge can finish and the show doesn't get boring.
• The Nicknamer: Jo. She comes up with plenty of zingers for her fellow contestants, such as "Shawn of the Dead" for Shawn, "Beatbox Guy" for Beardo, and "Braces" for Beth.
• Non-Gameplay Elimination: Rather abruptly and self-inflicted early into World Tour, Dawn reveals that she is Dreaming of Things to Come that she feels require her to exit the show. As a result, she's secretly off the plane before it even takes off. Just as Duncan was in canon, she's eventually captured and forced onto the show again.
• Non-Indicative Title: To better reflect the new canon, the Area 51 episode in World Tour is renamed from "The Ex-Files" to "Roswell That Ends Well." As anyone familiar with U.S. geography can tell you, Roswell and Area 51, despite their mutual extraterrestrial associations, are in completely different states.
• Not in Front of the Parrot!: When the Playa votes are tied between Alejandro and Sammy, the deciding vote comes from a nearby parrot.
• Not So Above It All: See All Women Are Lustful above.
• "Not So Different" Remark: Heather makes a speech about this to Leshawna in "Hurl and Go Seek", pointing out how similar their game strategies are.
• Obfuscating Stupidity: Sugar admits to this after Scarlett attempts to align with her, and claims that since everyone thinks she is dumb, she would go along with this. Zig-zagged by the fact that she can make up voting strategies one minute, and the next she doesn't know the difference between a train and a bus.
• Odd Friendship:
  • Tomboy Jo is friends with fangirl Sierra. They become friends in the Race for the Case, and form a small alliance when on the same team in Action.
  • Jo also forms an odd friendship with B over the course of Action, getting to the point where she doesn't need someone like Dawn to translate B's motions for her, and entrusts him with piloting her zeppelin.
  • An even odder example, Scarlett and Staci. Staci is the only one of the entire cast that talks to Scarlett like a normal person even after Scarlett's reveal.
• Official Couple: Several form over the course of the series. Sam/Dakota, Bridgette/Geoff, DJ/Sammy/Dawn, Lightning/Amy (it doesn't last), Gwen/Trent, Jasmine/Shawn, Tyler/Lindsay, Harold/Zoey, Duncan/Brick, and Eva/Sky.
• Only Friend: Staci is this to Scarlett.
• Only Sane Man: While the others randomly pick apart the fake food in "Monster Cash", Dawn sits calmly, and takes her time in figuring out where the key is.
• Pepper Sneeze: A tiebreaker elimination between Sierra and Topher is determined by this. Whoever sneezes first is eliminated.
• The Pollyanna: Ella always wants everyone to have a pleasant time, and doesn't want anyone unhappy. This is her sub-plot of "Newf Kids on the Rock".
• Properly Paranoid: Played for Drama. Justin gets a note that tells him Lindsay is trying to turn the Maggots against him, and does everything he can to keep her from gaining too much authority. Lindsay, on the other hand, isn't out to get him, but the Maggots are all turning against him.
• Puppy-Dog Eyes: Lindsay used this on Justin to get him to be the diver in "Backstabbers Ahoy."
• Read the Fine Print: Chris uses this to force the contestants to agree to season two. Amy and Sammy both read the fine print before they return to the game under their respective circumstances, knowing what exactly they're getting out of it.
• "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
  • Gwen delivers one to Courtney early on in Revenge of the Island over her hypocritical behavior regarding how she expects their team to crush their opponents, but she can't bring herself to harm Justin because of his good looks.
  • Lindsay later gives one to Justin after he betrays her when he thinks she's trying to take control of the Mutant Maggots away from him.
  • At the ending party for All-Stars, Ezekiel calls out Scott for destroying their friendship in World Tour, not learning from his mistakes and refusing to grow as a person despite everyone else doing so in some way.
  • Sky gives one to Dave in Pahkitew Island after their team loses, and he refuses to listen to the 'but'.
• Retractable Appendages: Izzy's time in the mine results in her gaining a mutation in the form of retractable arms. So far, she has shown she can grow five extra sets of arms (and probably more, and not always symmetrically with one another; sometimes with more on the right than the left, or vice versa). Word of God also claims that she can retract her original set of arms as well.
• Running Gag: Poor Shawn just can't catch a break with bears. It gets to the point where he lampshades it himself, and wonders if he should be preparing for them to take over the world instead of zombies.
• Sanity Slippage: Trent goes through this after Gwen gets eliminated in Revenge of the Island thanks to Courtney. The longer Courtney stays in the game, the more obsessed with getting her voted off Trent gets.
• Shipper on Deck: Sierra is implied to be one to Geoff/Bridgette and the love triangle of DJ, Dawn, and Sammy.
• Shout-Out:
  • Jo once calls Scarlett "Wilma", and Scarlett lampshades the reference in a confessional shortly after.
  • Noah calls Leonard "Gandalf".
  • The author makes a reference to Revenge of the Nerds when making a joke about the second generation at the beginning of Revenge of the Island.
  • The Shuffledverse counterpart to "Zeek and Ye Shall Find" is named as and features a shout-out to Phantom of the Opera in the form of "The Phantom of the Island" and use of a pipe organ.
  • The Shuffledverse counterpart to "A Blast from the Past" is titled "Racers of the Last X" as a shout-out to Raiders of the Lost Ark due to the first appearance of Manitoba Smith, whose name is a reference to Indiana Jones.
• Sibling Rivalry: Sammy and Amy; it gets particularly intense in Action, with Amy obsessing over keeping her position as the dominant twin, and Sammy finally fighting back and besting Amy numerous times.
• Slippery Swimsuit: Sugar loses the bottom half of her bikini in "After the Dock of Shame". She finds them, but doesn't think they're hers. Beth, Beardo, and Sierra are very repulsed.
• Small Name, Big Ego: Amy thinks she's better than Sammy in everything, but Sammy manages to outlast her twice in Island, and everyone else finds her a nuisance.
• Smarter Than You Look: Lindsay's plot in "Backstabbers Ahoy!" Throughout the episode, Lindsay continuously has good ideas despite being the team's Airhead.
• Spotting the Thread: DJ figures out that Amy is pretending to be Sammy when she mentions Bunny, who the real Sammy knows has been missing for two weeks.
• The Social Darwinist: Scarlett considers herself superior to everyone else because of her intellect, and that any rules or laws that don't allow her to do things her way (cheating, manipulating or downright abusing others) are meaningless, and that her parents' attempts to educate her are only restraining her genius; she's soon called out on this, as she's obviously The Sociopath trying to excuse her behavior.
• Suddenly Speaking: B creates a text-to-speech device in Action that lets him communicate with the others without actually having to talk.
• Taking You with Me: After Scott manipulates the other campers into getting Gwen eliminated in All-Stars, Courtney makes it her personal mission to take him down, and though it costs her a spot in the finals due to spraining her arm in the process, she manages to succeed in "The Bold and the Booty-ful".
• Team Killer: Scott manages to do this several times in a row for his team until he is found out and voted off in Island.
• Teeth-Clenched Teamwork:
  • Alejandro and Scarlett make it no secret that they despise each other, and only work together when a plan benefits them both.
  • Sierra and Topher put aside their rivalry in "Riot on Set" to work together on a challenge they both have skill in.
• Token Evil Teammate:
  • Scott for Team Victory in World Tour, later replaced by Sugar following the Mix-up.
  • Alejandro for Team Universe in World Tour after Sugar switches teams.
  • Justin for the Mutant Maggots in Revenge of the Island.
  • Played with with the Heroic Hamsters in All-Stars: Jasmine believes Lightning is this for the first half of the season while Izzy invokes this as "El Malefico".
• Token Good Teammate:
  • Beth for the Screaming Gaffers in Action after Amy enters the game and Sammy is eliminated.
  • Jasmine for the Villainous Vultures in All-Stars. Noah, in a neutral sense, also qualifies.
• Voice for the Voiceless: Dawn frequently translates what B is trying to say through his mute communication.
• Was It All a Lie?: Asked by Bridgette to Scarlett in Action's true ending, regarding their friendship. Scarlett replies that their friendship was never real.
• Wasn't That Fun?: Izzy is the only one of the thirteen new campers who enjoys the yacht getting blown up, and suggests they do it again but with bigger explosions.
• We Hardly Knew Ye: Cody and Max, as both compete in only one episode throughout the entire series. Katie is this to a lesser extent, competing in two.
• Well-Intentioned Extremist: In a contrast to his canon incarnation, Mal's main motivation is to protect Mike (and by extension, his alternate personalities) by any means necessary. And if that means blowing up Pahkitew Island with all the remaining campers still on it...
• What Does This Button Do?: Izzy messes with the salad spinner portion of the "Food Fright" challenge by pulling a lever, wondering what it does.
• What the Hell, Hero?: Harold experiences a moment of this in "Bigger! Badder! Brutal-er!" when instead of helping save Cameron from drowning, he chooses to point out how it was a mistake of Cameron's to not learn how to swim before coming onto the show. Trent calls him out, and saves Cameron while he's at it.
• Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Sugar's strategy in World Tour. She tells the others that Scarlett and Scott forced her into their alliances, and sheds Crocodile Tears to gain sympathy, and ensure no one suspects her true nature.
