Total Drama Tokyo is the fourth season in Toadgamer80's Total Drama fanfic series. After the infamous Total Drama Revolution, Tokyo returns to the form set by Total Drama Tiki Jungle and features better attempts at plots, humor, and characterization. Similar to Tiki Jungle, this season introduces multiple Breakout Characters, six of which would return for the all-star season one story later.
The premise of the story involves 22 all-new contestants, split up into three teams, competing in Tokyo, Japan for a new prize of one million dollars. Chris McLean still hosts, and he has quite a few new tricks up his sleeve, such as giant robots, candied fish tails, and Youkai.

This story provides examples of:
- Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: The author is fond of this trope. The following quote is typical:Estrella: Blood. Centipedes crawling across people's skin. Knives flying out of nowhere and almost stabbing people's heads. Dead dogs in the highway. Vultures that eat human carcasses. Gory, grisly corpses hanging out to dry. Oh, and teddy bears.
- Ascended Extra: Mr. Chapman started out as just a person Roz would frequently reference, but then took over the show...
- Author Avatar: Tolkien, according to Word of God - his romantic troubles were essentially based on the author's similar situation at the time and his love for fantasy games was thought of so he wouldn't be too similar to the author.
- Ax-Crazy: Roz at her worst, although she's usually just a Genki Girl.
- Bland-Name Product:
- Luncheons & Laggins, the card game Tolkien is obsessed with.
- Beets by Dray, which are shaped like the vegetable.
- Breakout Character: Flora is a one-dimensional character created as a parody of generic slotfiller characters in Total Drama fanfictions. She's also a very popular character, so popular she appeared in the 'all-stars' season.
- Butt-Monkey: Puck. Within eighteen chapters, he almost drowns multiple times, gets kicked in the groin by Wolfgang multiple times, gets turned into a pig, gets attacked by a demon while using a Porta-Potty, gets attacked by Japanese tourists, and gets his pizza stolen. Among many other things.
- The Cameo: Contestants from previous installments regularly make brief appearances.
- Closet Geek: Ari. Tolkien comes across her Luncheons & Laggins cards one day.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Delia and Vivienne both look scary but have pretty good intentions.
- Deadpan Snarker: This trait is very common among the contestants, with Estrella being the leading practitioner due to her disdain for pretty much everything.
- Disgusting Public Toilet: Puck runs into a Porta-Potty in the woods in the eighth chapter. In addition to the usual traits, this one has a demon living inside of it.
- The Dragon: Isabel serves as this to Layla, although Isabel doesn't know it.
- Embarrassing First Name: Puck's real name is Cornelius Puckerschmidt.
- Expy:
- Estrella was inspired by Jade West from Victorious and Raven from Teen Titans.
- Neal and Vivienne were respectively inspired by Neal from Freaks and Geeks and Vivian from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, although neither ended up as complex or developed as their inspirations.
- Puck and Wolfgang were based around and named after two NPCs from Animal Crossing, although their personalities are much more fleshed out.
- Roz has many similarities to canonical Total Drama character, Izzy. Roz is postulated as Izzy's cousin.
- Flat Character: Flora is a parody of one. She spends her time on the show trying to get people to notice her, since she's tired of being boring and one-dimensional.
- Heh Heh, You Said "X": Quite a few times with Puck. Also, this:Chris: Tomorrow, this chappy is getting long.Roz: Hehehehe. Chappy. Long.
- Jerkass: Quite a few, including Anderson, Thomas, and Wolfgang (although this is later subverted).
- Loony Fan: Casey is obsessed with previous contestant Chelsey and tries to model her behavior after her... it doesn't work. She even meets Chelsey during one chapter, and this is her reaction:
- Love Triangle: Two happen:
- One in the beginning of the story between Casey, Thomas, and Puck.
- One after the merge between Ari, Roz, and Tolkien.
- Odd Friendship: Roz and Ari - Roz is eccentric, extroverted, and a Genki Girl, and Ari is shy, awkward, and the Cloudcuckoolander's Minder. Casey and Puck's relationship is this humorously.
- Rich Bitch: Layla until she wins money and gives it to Charles, her butler. Although, in the next season, it's back, with her missing Charles and trying to get others to do her work for her.
- Shout-Out:
- Chapter four to Spirited Away, chapter six to Pokémon, chapter ten to My Neighbor Totoro, and chapter thirteen to... Epic Rap Battles of History.
- Wolfgang's line "MY LIFE IS LIKE A FART!" is a shout-out to a certain episode of Adventure Time.
- Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Puck and Casey, who end up dating. He's one of the shortest (and squattest) guys in the season and she's very lanky.
- Tokyo Tower: The contestants have to climb it in one challenge. Disaster ensues.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Thomas. He started out as a nice, somewhat goofy guy, and turned into a bastard who hated Puck and was extremely jealous of his relationship with Casey.
- World of Ham: The Final Five include Laughably Evil Layla, Genki Girl Roz, Camp Straight Kai, and Pungeon Master Puck.
- World of Snark: Snarkiness is a very common trait among the contestants.
- Youkai: The challenge in chapter eight involves the contestants traversing the woods to find a key to a treasure chest which is guarded by supernatural beings.
