The Lady of Flowers is a Game of Thrones fanfic where Sansa is married to Loras instead of Tyrion.

Tropes that appear in this fanfic:

  • Adaptational Intelligence: This time, Loras managed to keep his mouth shut about his betrothal to Sansa.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Meryn Trant. Loras gives no quarter.
  • And This Is for...: Loras says "This is for [Sansa]" when he kills Meryn Trant.
  • Asshole Victim:
  • Attempted Rape: Despite being married to the man of her dreams, Sansa is assaulted by Joffrey, who tells her about the deaths of her mother Catelyn and brother Robb.
  • Batman Gambit: Olenna Tyrell's plan to break ties with the Lannisters after Joffrey tried to rape Sansa. She poisons Joffrey, and Tyrion and Margaery are framed. She has word sent to Loras, knowing that he'll go fight on Margaery's behalf and give him a chance for revenge against Meryn Trant, who had helped Joffrey when Joffrey tried to rape Sansa.
  • Big Sister Mentor: Margaery becomes one of these for Sansa.
  • Continuity Nod:
  • Dead Guy Junior: Sansa names her firstborn son Robb, for her deceased brother.
  • Death by Adaptation: Meryn Trant gets it even worse than in the show, since he doesn't make it to Braavos before dying.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Olenna admits that she hadn't expected Cersei to accuse Margaery of killing Joffrey, considering that the Lannisters need the Tyrells.
  • Dirty Cop: Olenna had guards placed outside Sansa and Loras' rooms. Joffrey buys them off when he comes to rape Sansa.
  • Doomed by Canon: Robb, Catelyn, Talisa (presumably, it isn't clear who Robb married), Joffrey, Oberyn, The Mountain, Shae (presumably), Tywin.
  • Gutted Like a Fish: Loras threatens to gut Joffrey when the latter tries to rape Sansa.
  • History Repeats: Like her mother, Sansa gets pregnant on her wedding night and names her firstborn Robb.
  • I Choose to Stay:
    • In Chapter 4, Jaime Lannister approaches Sansa and offers to get her back to her mother and brother. Sansa, now married to Loras, chooses not to leave King's Landing.
    • Sansa offers Shae to accompany her to Highgarden. Shae turns her down because Tyrion is still there.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • The Red Wedding still happens, as does the Purple Wedding.
    • Oberyn Martell gets killed in Tyrion's Trial by Combat.
    • Tywin Lannister is killed by Tyrion the same way.
  • Internal Reveal: In Chapter 11, Sansa learns of Loras' sexuality. It's a rather rude awakening, given the fact that Sansa is pregnant with Loras' child.
Sansa: Joffrey was cruel to me. In the end, it didn't even hurt anymore because I expected nothing else from him. I did expect something else from you, my lord.
  • I Shall Taunt You: Joffrey while trying to rape Sansa; he bounces from a death threat informing her of the Red Wedding, to making her cry, to forcing Loras to watch.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence:
Meryn Trant: I y- (Loras slashes his throat)
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: After Tywin is killed by Tyrion, Kevan sends a raven to Highgarden asking for a truce. Mace is having none of it.
  • Left Hanging: The fate of House Lannister is up in the air, since after Tywin's death there are no Tyrells in King's Landing for Cersei to plot against.
  • The Millstone: Joffrey singlehandedly sabotages House Lannister with his attempt to rape Sansa. It starts a domino-style chain of events involving his own death at the Purple Wedding, the deaths of Oberyn Martell and Meryn Trant in the ensuing Trials by Combat, the death of Tywin Lannister at his son's hands, and the loss of House Tyrell's support.
  • Naked First Impression: The morning after Sansa's wedding to Loras, a handmaiden shows up for the sheets, sees Loras naked and is instantly embarrassed. For Shae, it's an Unusually Uninteresting Sight.
"Seven hells, girl, have you never seen a cock before?"
  • Rouge Angles of Satin: Meryn Trant's name is frequently misspelled as Meryl.
  • Running Gag: Margaery asking Sansa about how sex with Loras goes.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Mace Tyrell breaks off all ties with the Lannisters after Margaery's trial.
  • Slashed Throat: The fate of Meryn Trant.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: The Tyrells in general.
  • Straight Man: Margaery to Loras.
  • Trial by Combat:
    • The one for Tyrion has already occurred offscreen by the time Loras returns to King's Landing.
    • Margaery demands one, where she is championed by Loras, facing Meryn Trant. Loras wins in a Curb-Stomp Battle, though Loras draws it out in his rage over Sansa's assault.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Mace Tyrell does one of these with marrying Loras to Sansa and Margaery to Joffrey. By marrying off both his children to either side of the war, he'll gain something from either side winning.
