What do you get when you take the plot of a well-known spinoff game and change the setting and characters to reflect the author's interests? Something close to the lines of this story.

Beast Boy, saddened by the events of the episode "Things Change", finds his life tumbling down and in a fit of depression, runs away from Titan Tower and quits the Titans. Shortly after this, a black hole opens up in space and starts to suck in Earth, as well as other galaxies. As this is happening, Jump City is attacked by three villains, all of whom serve a higher power: Count Logan.

After a brush with the three minions, the Titans are shocked to learn from the Doom Patrol that Beast Boy was killed. Thus begins a struggle between the Titans and Count Logan, who plans on destroying the entire galaxy with the help of an Ancient Artifact forged by Trigon known as the Dark Prognosticus.

The End of Ends is a fanfic written by Dakari-King Mykan, known most infamously for My Brave Pony: Starfleet Magic. It's both made in Web Animation format as well as a Fan Fiction adaptation where the story has a Framing Device wherein an Alternate Universe Terra and Beast Boy see the events. The first part of the Web Animation can be watched here, the original fanfic (called "Things Change & The End?" there) can be read here, the updated fanfic (called "Musical: The End of Ends" there) can be read here and the fanfic that crosses over with My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic there. The End of Ends has the following tropes:

• Accusation Fic: The story calls out the Titans, Patrol, and Terra for all the "wrongdoings" they've done to Beast Boy. Mykan even has a name for this kind of fic: "Punishment Fics".
• Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Beast Boy in the original show was never this angsty about getting rejected by Terra or in general.
• Adaptational Name Change: Jacqueline Hyde in the original written version, Kamica in every version since.
• Amplifier Artifact: The Light Prognosticus.
• An Aesop: You can never truly change who you are, and even if you do change, you are who you are and that can't change.
• Arc Words: "Things change, Beast Boy. The girl you want me to be is just a memory."
• Artifact of Doom: The Dark Prognosticus.
• Bad Guys Do the Dirty Work: Dr. Beljar makes it really easy for the Titans to not kill Beast Boy, since he takes over control of the Dark Prognosticus, and it's required that whoever controls the Prognosticus must die in order to close the void. This arguably ends up being a moot point, though, when Beast Boy dies anyway from injuries sustained in the battle.
• Batman Can Breathe in Space: Everyone in this story can breathe in space.

• Big Bad: Count Logan at first, then he gets replaced by Beljar.
• Big "NO!": Starfire gives one off when Tamaran is blown up.
• Bittersweet Ending: The fic ends with Terra returning to being a Titan, the universe being saved from the destructive powers of the Dark Prognosticus, and Count Logan finally coming to his senses and redeeming himself. However, his injuries got too much for him and he died, which caused the Titans to feel bummed because Count Logan was really Beast Boy.

• Canon Foreigner: Kamica was created by one of Mykan's fans.
• Chekhov's Skill: Subverted. You'd think Beast Boy's Magic Voices might be the reason for why he sounds so different as Count Logan, but it's revealed that the mask simply disguised his voice.
• Cover-Blowing Superpower: Terra still has her powers, but is unable to use them during the minions' attack, lest she reveal her identity.
• Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: Dr. Beljar invokes this trope when he takes over, since the condition for the Dark Prognosticus is to have an empty heart.
• Dark and Troubled Past: Beast Boy explains his past to Terra to justify just why he felt depressed after she dumped him. Subverted in that he exaggerates it to the point that he's convinced nobody, not even the Doom Patrol or other Titans, likes him or ever treated him well. Later, it's used to justify his destruction of the universes.
• Death by Despair: How Beast Boy gains the Dark Prognosticus's power. In the original, it's by committing suicide; in the rewrite, the book appears after he drops over the Despair Event Horizon and kills him.
• Decoy Protagonist: The story focuses on Beast Boy for a while before he runs away and gets killed. Then it focuses on the Titans and Doom Patrol.
• Despair Event Horizon: Beast Boy crosses it sometime after running away, which prompts the Dark Prognosticus to come and lend him his power.
• Disappears into Light: How the written prose version ends for Beast Boy.
• Driven to Suicide: Count Logan's plan is to essentially destroy all the universes and himself. Why? Because he got dumped and thinks nobody likes him due to perceived insults from everybody and decided that if he can't be happy, no one can.
• Easily Forgiven: Logan's sob story about how crappy his life has been and how Terra dumped him somehow is enough to earn the Titans' forgiveness after he went all Omnicidal Maniac on them. Granted, the fact that he died probably helps a little, but still.

• Energy Weapon: Kamica's sword shoots lasers.
• Entitled to Have You: Beast Boy seems to think that his sad past and hard work as a hero are why he should have Terra.
• Evil Is Petty: Count Logan. Being dumped by one girl and thinking everyone's against you are somewhat petty motives for destroying all of existence.
• Evil Versus Oblivion: This is why Dr. Beljar betrayed Count Logan. He realized that Count Logan would not fulfill the promise made to his minions and that he'd just leave the universe in ruin due to his suicidal tendencies, thus he plots to backstab Count Logan, take the Prognoticus, and remake the world himself.
• Expy: Because of the Whole-Plot Reference to Super Paper Mario, the villains are expies of the villains of that game.
  • Count Logan has Count Bleck's hat and backstory albeit less impactful and despairing as Bleck's. He also shares Slade's mask, though chromed. Speaking of Slade, he also shares the notion of using his real name as an alias.
  • His three minions are expies of Bleck's own minions and named after some of the goons from Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego. Kamica and Madeva are ones to Starfire and Raven respectively.
  • Dr. Beljar is one of Dimentio. Knowing this, Beljar backstabbing Logan was pretty obvious.
  • Aside from the Super Paper Mario reference, there's also Copycat, whose powers are reflective of Beast Boy's ability to shift into any animal. It is it any wonder he basically becomes a Replacement Goldfish for him when he dies?
• Faking Amnesia: Terra did so in "Things Change" and sacrificed her relationship with Beast Boy to live a normal life. This is treated as worse than Logan causing mass murder.
• Family-Unfriendly Death: Beast Boy gets killed and we see a picture of his corpse, in which there's been a hole blown through his chest. There's also Galfore, who gets blown to ashes (or rather Windows Movie Maker Shatter effected to death).
• Fix Fic: What this essentially is, with the thing being fixed being Terra herself, and her relationship with Beast Boy.
• Flat Character: Like with his other (in)famous work, Mykan firmly believes that characters hold back the plot, and thus everyone is flat as cardboard.
  • Count Logan is evil because Terra dumped him and perceived slights from other people, which also made him hate change in general. That's it.
  • Dr. Beljar is traitorous. That's it.
  • The rest of Logan's minions are evil before having a last-minute Heel–Face Turn. That's it.
  • Terra doesn't want to be a Teen Titan, but becomes one again. That's it.
  • Copy Cat is a shapeshifter and keeper of the Light Prognosticus. He also permanently joins the Teen Titans after Beast Boy kicks it. That's it.
  • The rest of the Teen Titans and the Doom Patrol are ungrateful to Beast Boy and learn that their actions were wrong. That's it.
• Foreshadowing: Attempted at Chapter 6, though by that point it stopped being foreshadowing and became a Captain Obvious Revealinvoked.
• Framing Device: Two different ones, depending on the version. Both have older Titans, with Beast Boy and Terra as a married couple, as well as Robin and Starfire. The original has all the older Titans making use of a what-if machine at the home of a mad scientist, heavily foreshadowing some of the later plot points (if it can even be called foreshadowing). The updated fic has Terra and Beast Boy on their own, seeing the story through a magical fire in a Navajo town after helping the others take down Slade. This version is slightly better at not spoiling future plot developments.
• Greater-Scope Villain: Trigon created the Dark Prognosticus, thus giving rise to Logan's power.
• Green-Eyed Monster: The reason why the first planet Count Logan destroys is Tamaran? Beast Boy is angry that Starfire and Robin are in a happy relationship whilst he and Terra broke up.
• Guest-Star Party Member: The Doom Patrol become this for the run of the story.
• Heroic Sacrifice: Count Logan's minions hold down Beljar to allow the heroes to land the final blow. Why? Because they trust Logan so much that they're willing to give their lives for him.
• Hypocrite:
  • Beast Boy calls out the other Titans for not being grateful to him for all the nice things he's done but he himself never shows gratitude to them for taking him in, being his friends, and trying to figure out what's troubling him, going so far as to ignore all that in favour of all the moments they were mad at him.
  • His biggest point of contention is that he's upset about things changing... Not only does he cause almost irreversible changes as Count Logan, but even tries to change the status quo of his own team by running away.
• Idiot Ball: You wanna know how bad the Captain Obvious Revealinvoked is? In Beast Boy's letter to the Titans, he lists his true name: Garfield Logan. And no one, not even Beast Boy's former group, The Doom Patrol, managed to figure out Count Logan's true identity.
• I Just Want to Be Normal: This gets subverted and possibly deconstructed depending on how you see it. Terra's decision to lead a normal life drove Beast Boy over the edge and caused him to gain a Superpowered Evil Side simply because the only person who actually liked him dumped him and of perceived slights from other people. When the former finds out what her actions of trying to be normal caused, not to mention the whole void thing going on, it made her reconsider her decision.
• Informed Ability: We're only told of what Copy Cat could do, and outside of his namesake ability to change into anyone he touches, we never see his abilities get used.
• Internal Reveal: Because of Captain Obvious Revealinvoked, The Reveal for Count Logan's true identity was rendered into this.
• Ironic Echo: Beast Boy, after being revealed, throws Terra's line, "Things change... the person you want me to be is no more." back in her face.
• It's All About Me: Canon Defilementinvoked or not, you can pretty much tell Beast Boy has become this. Simply because the world doesn't bend backwards to his every whim, romantically in the case of Terra, he lashes out at everyone.
• Jerkass Realization: After Beast Boy leaves his resignation letter behind, the other Teen Titans regret how they treated him in response to his behaviour following being rejected by Terra. Unfortunately, it's too late for them to make amends and things get much worse.
• Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: What essentially happens to Beast Boy in this fic, almost literally. He goes from being a creep to destroying the entire universe after he dies and reincarnates into Count Logan.
• Kill It with Fire: Medeva, doubling as a Breath Weapon.
• Loophole Abuse: The condition of being able to use the Dark Prognosticus is to have an empty heart and have never found true happiness. A cybernetic heart's essentially the same as an empty heart... Though it's unsaid how Beljar managed to fulfill the latter part.
• Madden Into Misanthropy: Beast Boy, albeit for significantly more petty reasons than the norm. Because the entire world doesn't bend over backwards for him and Terra doesn't want to hook up, he thinks the entire world is out to get him and that his friends don't actually care and turns antisocial and later omnicidal as a result.
• Magical Native American: In the updated version, one tells Terra and Beast Boy what would have happened if they hadn't gotten back together, setting off this fic's plot via Framing Device.
• MST: One for the videos, one for the fic and one for the sequel!
• My God, What Have I Done?: The Titans, Doom Patrol and Terra have this reaction upon finding out about Beast Boy's death. And soon Count Logan's true identity.
• Nested Story Reveal: The original version had this at the end: the entire story, Framing Device and all, was actually a result of Dr. Von-Richter testing out the "What-If-Machine" on himself, wondering what would have happened if he'd invited the Titans over to test it out with him.
• Never My Fault: Beast Boy claims that the Titans never even once tried to help, even though they tried to figure out what's wrong with him at the start only to be purposely ignored. Great. Also, the narration indicates that the Titans and Terra are somehow to blame for Beast Boy stalking the latter, breaking into Raven's room, deciding to go omnicidal, etc.
• Only the Chosen May Wield: The Dark Prognosticus can only be used by those whose hearts are filled with extreme hatred.
• Origins Episode: There's one for Count Logan in Chapter 11.

• The Power of Love: Terra realizes who Count Logan really is and how her actions caused his rise to power. She then devotes herself to saving him because deep down, she loves him. This allows her to tap into the powers of the Light Prognosticus and overpower Count Logan... It gets subverted though. All that she managed to do was roughen him up. Had it not been for The Starscream, Logan wouldn't have changed. It's only when he is mortally wounded that he began to redeem and not even the Power of Love was able to save him.
• Protagonist-Centered Morality: Beast Boy is the protagonist, so his horrible behavior towards Terra and other Titans as well as trying to destroy the universe out of pettiness are completely justified. The other Titans and Doom Patrol are unsympathetic to Count Logan until he reveals his true identity and explains his tragic backstory, at which point they all suddenly feel sympathetic to him even as he continues to angrily rant at them.
• Put Them All Out of My Misery: Count Logan has... issues to work out. By taking it out on the entire universe, and especially the Titans and Terra.

• Revenge Fic: Word of Godinvoked specially mentioned that the story was essentially a revenge story straight from his own desk and even justifying the destruction of Tamaran by saying it's revenge for Starfire and Robin's relationship. It's also, oddly enough, one directed at Beast Boy for not hooking up with Terra.

• Shock and Awe: Sir Vile has electrical-based powers.
• Shout-Out:
  • Too many to count, though for starters, as the top mentioned, the opening line came from Corpse Bride.
  • As the destruction of the universe nears, Logan makes a reference to Edgar's "It won't matter... in a few minutes, you won't even be matter." line from the first Men in Black film.
  • After writing his resignation letter, Beast Boy spills soda on the paper and writes a PS stating that the Titans should consider it to be tear stains. This was an attempt to play a joke from ALF for drama.
  • Count Logan's minions seem to have their names based around characters from Carmen Sandiego. The most common of them is Sir Vile and Dr. Beljar from Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego. Sir Vile also apparently used to be a Forever Knight.
• Sixth Ranger: Copy Cat, though in the sense of him being a Guest-Star Party Member. He gets promoted to a more permanent position after Beast Boy kicks it.
• Song Fic: Each song is taken from various sources, from Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego to The Little Mermaid, and butchered to fit the fic.
• Space Whale Aesop: It had to take an Omnicidal Maniac who was destroying the universe to hammer it into Terra's head that you can't change who you are.
• Spoiler Title: Chapter 4 shows the planet Tamaran blowing up. The title? "The End of Tameran!"
• Stalker with a Crush: Despite being rejected by Terra, Beast Boy can't seem to stay away from her.
• The Starscream: Dr. Beljar eventually betrays Logan and takes control of the Dark Prognosticus. Not that it's hard to see coming, since he monologues about it whenever no one else's listening.
• Start of Darkness: The first two chapters, as well as a chunk of Chapter 11, essentially illustrate Count Logan's rise.
• Status Quo Is God: Zigzagged. While Earth has been restored, Terra goes back to being a Teen Titan, and all the new villains are quickly killed off all at the same time, Beast Boy ends up dying and Copy Cat takes his place.
• Straw Nihilist: Count Logan is of this mindset, given him frequently dismissing everything as "meaningless" and seeking to destroy the universe.
• Suicidal Cosmic Temper Tantrum: Count Logan plans to destroy the entire universe and himself as well. His reasons for doing so are because of Terra dumping him and wanting to live a normal life away from him, everyone (supposedly) not caring about him, and generally people being happy while he isn't.
• Superman Stays Out of Gotham: Count Logan goes around destroying various planets, including Starfire's home world, and yet the only team to get involved other than the Teen Titans are the Doom Patrol and not, say, the Green Lantern Corps.

• Suspiciously Similar Substitute: While he looks like Robin and has the psychic powers of Raven, Copy Cat's namesake ability, to copy the forms of others, is reminiscent of the missing Beast Boy. Guess what happens once Beast Boy is Killed Off for Real.
• The Tape Knew You Would Say That: Beast Boy's resignation letter to the Titans.
  Starfire: (reading Beast Boy's letter aloud) "You do not even reflect on all the good deeds and nicer things I have done for you in the past."
  Raven: What nice things?
  Starfire: (continues reading) "Tell Raven to take that back."
• That Man Is Dead: Terra's saying this in the last episode of Teen Titans is referenced from time to time. Beast Boy, who has gone insane from being rejected by Terra and has become Count Logan, throws Terra's line back in her face when she realizes who Count Logan is, as this is also a Whole-Plot Reference to Super Paper Mario, where Count Logan plays Count Bleck's role.
• That Reminds Me of a Song: What Beast Boy's Magic Voices are essentially.
• Ungrateful Bastard: The fic tries to convince us that the Teen Titans are this, as noted in The Tape Knew You Would Say That. However, Beast Boy fits the bill better as he does not care that Terra is no longer a statue, he only cares about the fact that she doesn't want to be with him. Also, he never displays gratitude toward the Doom Patrol or the other Titans for taking him in, he only wangsts about their getting cross with and teasing him the way true friends do.

• Wham Episode: The fic has two. The first being Episode 9, where Count Logan reveals his true identity (provided the audience doesn't guess beforehand) to the Titans and the other in Episode 12, where Dr. Beljar backstabs Count Logan and becomes the Big Bad.
• What the Hell, Hero?: Beast Boy gets this a lot from the other Titans in the first two chapters for doing things like stalking one school girl to raiding Raven's room to downright beating up two school girls.
  • Beast Boy (or rather, Count Logan) later gives this to the other Titans and the Doom Patrol (sans Elasti-Girl) for not supporting him or acknowledging his good deeds, and again, since it's that kind of fic, he's the one portrayed in the right. And the Titans don't even try to argue with him.
• Whole-Plot Reference: This is one for Super Paper Mario.
• Why Did You Make Me Hit You?: Logan/Beast Boy pulls this on the Titans and especially Terra by guilt-tripping them with the belief that their mistreatment drove him to omnicidal rage.
• Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Beast Boy falls for the power of the Dark Prognosticus and tries to destroy the universe. His motivation for doing so is because he can't take life anymore after Terra does not want to come back to the team, following the ending of the show.
• "You!" Exclamation: When talking to Count Logan in one chapter, Terra exclaims "You!".
