"The GDF has never had enough power to go on the offensive. We've always been stuck playing a defensive game, reacting to Kaiju attacks and hoping we don't get overrun. But we can't do that anymore."
-Stacker Pentecost

In the days following the Terran Defenders-Mutations battle at Solgell island that resulted in the leaders of the two factions being transported to another dimension, Human and Kaiju alike are living in a state of tension and uncertainty. However, the leaders of humanity's Global Defense Force realize that the aftermath of this tragedy contains the makings of an incredible opportunity: While the benevolent Terran Defenders are still organized, now under the leadership of Gamera, the violent Mutations are scattered and leaderless. Rallying their forces and forming an alliance with the Terran Defenders, the GDF sets forth to accomplish what was once thought impossible: hunt down and exterminate the remaining Mutations, end the countless Kaiju wars once and for all, and secure a lasting peace on Earth.

They're not the only ones making their move, however, as shadowy threats from Terra's ancient past begin to resurface...

The Bridge: Humanity's Stand is a Crossover fanfic written by BlazingPhoenix17 and co-written by Corona_Blaze. It's a Spinoff of The Bridge (MLP) that shows what's happening on Earth whilst Godzilla and the rest of The Bridge's cast are away in Equestria. The original version was canceled after 28 chapters, readable Here. On Oct. 5, 2021, the author made a new version of the story, readable here.

This Fan Fic provides examples of:

    New Version

    Original Version (Decanonized)

  • The Alliance: The GDF and Terran Defenders form one in order to hunt down the Mutations.
  • Apocalypse Cult: The Red Dawn terrorist group, which seeks to annihilate the human race so that the Kaiju can reclaim the Earth.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: All the Kaiju naturally count as this, but Creation, the ultimate Anteverse Kaiju really takes the cake, being the single largest one on record.
  • Author Tract: Lauren Faust's condemnation of the staff behind My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic was that making Twilight Sparkle and Cadance's baby alicorns cheapened the species' uniqueness; mirroring views by the author.
  • Badass Family: Striker Pentecost is the adopted father of both Mako Mori and Miki Saegusa, both of which are major badasses. Miki's biological father also had a Dying Moment of Awesome practically spitting in the Xilian Controller's face during Final Wars.
  • Celebrity Survivor: Lauren Faust and Craig McCracken are part of the cast, doing their best to survive Kaiju attacks and then terrorist situations.
  • Comic Books Are Real: The TV show My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic exists on Terra. When informed of where the missing Kaiju are, Lauren Faust (who in this reality, did not leave the show after season 2) is shocked because she thought Equestria was just something she made up.
  • Crossover: While it focuses primarily on Kaiju properties, the My Little Pony crossover element of the main fic is still canon in Humanity's Stand. In addition, elements and characters from many other franchises are incorporated to varying degrees.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Baragon curbstomps Zedus when the two fight. Small he may be, but Baragon he's far too fast and agile, especially when he can easily burrow around his surroundings, to the point Zedus never lands a single hit on him.
  • Evil Power Vacuum: Xenilla and Destroyah's disappearence left the entire Mutations faction scattered and leaderless. The Red Dawn then stepped up as a top-tier threat.
  • Far East Asian Terrorists: The Red Dawn got their start as this, having originally been the Red Bamboo organization from Ebirah, Horror of the Deep.
  • First Contact: This happened in 1957 when The Mysterians came to Earth. After a short conflict, they ended up integrating into human society.
  • Half-Human Hybrid:
    • As a result of the Mysterians living alongside and intermarrying with humans, there are many mysterian/human hybrids.
    • Tytanna is a genetically engineered human/Kaiju hybrid.
  • Heroic Sacrifice:
    • The crew of the Super-X3 sacrifice it in order to defeat Megaguirus, though they themselves survive.
    • Obsidious triggers a volcanic eruption that kills them, but also manages to force Creation back through the Rift and seal it.
  • Humongous Mecha: The GDF's bread and butter for fighting Kaiju. They include Jaegers, Kiryu (Mechagodzilla), Moguera, and even Jet Jaguar.
  • Humans Are Flawed: Humans survive great struggle, reverse engineer alien technology multiple times in great strides, boast an impressive military and are still thriving despite ever increasing numbers of kaiju and a full alien invasion!... But those first few victories were Pyrrhic at best, marvels of human ingenuity were defeated time after time by giant monsters through the 1990s, and the tech boons were only possible because the Mysterians helped out. And when beings like Godzilla Junior slave themselves away constantly coming to man's defense and save millions of lives, the GDF still shoot Solgell Island with Dimension Tide during a big fight regardless of if he and other heroes are in the blast radius. Stacker Pentecost acknowledges this and hopes to improve it.
  • Humans Are Survivors: It's not easy living in a world where your cities can be attacked at any time by gigantic monsters and alien forces. Despite this, humanity has managed to avoid destruction on countless occasions, and have even developed ways to fight back against their foes. Subverted as this was only possible because multiple extremely powerful kaiju kept constantly coming to humanity's aid almost every single time they were attacked post-1999.
  • Hybrid Power: People with mixed Mysterian/human ancestry have superhuman abilities. Some have enhanced strength and reflexes, while others are telepaths.
  • Imported Alien Phlebotinum: Studying and reverse-engineering Mysterian tech caused an invention boom in 1957. It happened again with alien tech captured during Final War, which resulted in a boom in Humongous Mecha development.
  • Infinity +1 Sword: Excalibur would be this, if it was working properly and the world had enough magic to keep it in condition.
  • Irony: Lauren Faust in this story isn't too happy with a call from the studio dictating Cadance's baby will be born an alicorn, saying it goes against the ideals and morals she was trying to instill into the species. One week later, The Bridge (MLP) posted a new chapter showing Cadance is pregnant with a definitely alicorn Flurry Heart and it being treated as a good thing given the Future Badass she grew up into.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: A King, a Prince, and a God is a one-shot that exists to give a showdown involving all three major incarnations of Godzilla, Toho, Tristar, and Legendary Pictures; in a 2v1 of Godzilla Junior & Zilla Junior vs. Gojira.
  • Magitek: The ancient civilizations had mastered this. Modern humans are just now starting to rediscover and reverse-engineer it.
  • Mad Scientist: The Langoud division of Monarch is an entire think tank of these, by their own description. They're firmly on the side of good, though, and have developed countless devices for the betterment of humanity's defense.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Bagan, Big Bad of The Bridge (MLP), is also pulling the Red Dawn's strings.
  • Mind-Control Device: At some point in the backstory, a disgruntled GDF scientist developed one of these and used it to take control of Titanosaurus. Though his research was stopped, Red Dawn somehow gets their hands on it.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Hundreds of millions of people were still alive because the Terran Defenders, namely Mothra Lea and Godzilla Junior, saved their lives by fighting off kaiju attacks. To say the backlash against the GDF for shooting Solgell Island to get at the Mutations when the Defender leadership were in the blast radius was huge would be an understatement.
  • Precursors: Earth was once full of ancient magical civilizations that mysteriously vanished around 77,000 years ago. In the present day, humans are starting to unearth their remains and reverse-engineer their technology.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Zilla gives one to Gabara after the latter complains about coming to the Terran Defenders' meeting instead of napping.
  • Recursive Fanfiction: Humanity's Stand began as this, but was later endorsed by Tarbtano and became a canon Spinoff.
  • Related in the Adaptation:
    • Along with Mako Mori, Marshal Stacker Pentecost also adopted Miki Saegusa.
    • On a larger scale, the Mysterians are actually a group of Xillian refugees instead of being a separate alien race.
  • Shout-Out: Among the GDF's soldiers are a Master Sergeant Chief and the twins John and Jane Shepherd.
  • Spared by the Adaptation:
    • In addition to the various Kaiju who survived the events of their movies, Stacker Pentecost survived the events of Pacific Rim thanks to Godzilla destroying the Rift the first time along with Mutavore, preventing Stacker's Heroic Sacrifice from being needed to close it.
    • Due to the Terran Defenders and other mecha being present, many of the Jaeger teams who also died in Pacific Rim are still around.
  • Spinoff: Of The Bridge (MLP).
  • Sufficiently Analyzed Magic: Magic hasn't quite fully become this yet for humans, but the Langoud team has been studying it quite closely and have been able to harness it as an energy source in the form of magicite. And like the Equestrians, human scientists have noticed a similarity between magic and radioactive energy.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: According to Gamera, King Kong is just barely willing to work alongside the humans and other Kaiju, in exchange for being given total autonomy on his island.
  • United Nations Is a Superpower: The Global Defense Force is literally a militarized United Nations, having done so in 2011 in the face of the Anteverse threat.
